Every hour you spend on a $15 an hour task is an hour you didn't spend on a $50 or $60 an hour task. General maintenance around the shop, sharpening blades, oil changes, servicing the mower— somebody has to do it and it matters, but it's a $15 an hour task. Mowing lawns, the actual production work out on your route, a little bit better, but it's still a $20 an hour task. Landscape jobs, bed installs, mulch, Sod, the physical labor side of things, little bit better. $25 an hour task. Fertilization and weed control. You see, this one takes a little bit more head knowledge and a little bit more education so you can charge more, more precision. This is more of a $30 an hour task. Estimates, sitting down with a homeowner, walking their property, closing the deal. This is more of a $50 an hour task. Because you can generate so much more revenue for the business if you have your sales hat on. And hiring, one of the most important tasks of all, even if it's just bringing on your very first helper, finding the right person, interviewing them, onboarding them the right way. And we'll just call this one at least a $60 an hour task because it is the highest, most single best use of your time at this stage. One good hire can change your entire trajectory of your business. One bad one can cost you months that you will never get back.
