Will Kelly learned that private warnings don't work: standards only exist when you enforce them, even if it means firing someone. Without consequences, rules stay broken and teams ignore them.

Enforce the standard or you don't have one. Here's the mistake I made for way too long. I would pull someone aside, have the conversation, and assume that it's going to get better. What I found— reality check— it didn't. That communication to your entire team is important so they understand that the rules apply in your organization. The moment you fire somebody to protect the standard, everything changes. The team that stays now knows you mean business. Standards only exist when they are enforced. A warning without a consequence is just a conversation. Drop in the comments below right now, what's the number one standard that your team keeps breaking that you haven't fully enforced yet? I'm curious.
