This short YouTube monologue (by Will Kelly) argues that door-to-door canvassing is essential for growing a lawn care/mowing business. The speaker urges mastering sales and marketing, expecting many rejections as learning, starting hyper-locally (HOA/neighborhood), using simple printed flyers, and building conversion confidence through repeated practice.

Door knock. Most people who don't like sales are scared of this. This is required in order for you to become a good salesperson. If you're going to try to grow a lawn care business, the one skill set you must master is sales and marketing. This is part of it. You need an upset customer to slam the door in your face. It's okay. You're going to learn from it, get better at it, get savvy at it. It's going to take 100 no's, maybe a thousand no's for you to go and knock. But eventually, the more no's you get, the better you're going to get, the closer you're going to get to the next sale and you're going to start, learn how to convert people and be confident in the service and the product that you offer. The other reason why this is very effective is it keeps it a very close niche. Oftentimes I always encourage people to go door knocking locally exactly where they're going to be servicing. We built our lawn care business in our HOA residential neighborhood. So I doorknocked on like the five or ten surrounding streets from my house. Why? Well, I didn't have a truck or a trailer where I could drive cities away to go service somebody's lawn. I had to literally walk with my mower and a blower to these people's houses. And that's how we got started, by door knocking. Printed out a couple flyers at home. You know, I already had a printer. I just put my name, phone number. Some of the services we offer, all of these things are going to help you grow your lawn care business.
