Short transcript excerpt of Alex Hormozi (via Will Kelly) advising entrepreneurs to persist—using gym training as a metaphor: pushing past perceived breaking points (doing extra reps) builds the mindset needed to continue another week or month rather than quitting when success is near.
Chapters
The reason most entrepreneurs go to the gym is not to get ripped and it's not to get swole. It is to develop a mindset of feeling. Like when you want to quit on that seventh, eighth, ninth repetition, and you're pushing that bar up as hard as you can, and your arms are shaking, and you're tension your whole body, and you're gonna feel like you're gonna quit, that you bang out three more of those. And the people that do that, that push yourself to the breaking point and go and do three more at your breaking point, are the ones that literally when it upsets me, when people stop quit throwing the towel, when they were literally right there, like, you, you were, dude, you were right there. Just stick it out another week. Stick it out another month. Dude, you had it. But instead, they decide not to.
