Jamie Wolfer says couples should post their wedding photography needs in Facebook groups instead of Googling. Include your budget, location, and date, and photographers will respond directly. He recommends spending at least $2,000 to get someone experienced with a solid portfolio.

I recommend joining a Facebook group because you can jump in there and say, hey, here's my budget, here's what I'm looking for, here's the area that I'm in, and here's the day that we're getting married. Are there any photographers available in this group that meet this criteria? Are you kidding me? So you can list out your exact specifications of what you're looking for, then the vendors just come to you. It's so much cheaper than Google, and it's so much faster too. Ideally, I'd like to see you at $2,000 for photography because that ensures you're working with someone who's been doing this a little bit longer, or at least, you know, has been doing this for long enough to have a portfolio built out that knows how to help you run your wedding day, especially if you're not working with a coordinator at this price point. You want to make sure you're working with a photographer that knows what to do and how to make sure they're getting through your photos as swiftly as possible.
