PART 2: Where the F#%$ Did She Get Married | Wedding Planner REACTS

Wedding planner Jamie Wolfer reacts to a creator's nightmare Airbnb wedding where the venue removed nine beds and installed playground equipment in the ceremony space. The management gave conflicting information and threatened to cancel. Wolfer walks through what went wrong: no room blocks, no video documentation, texts instead of formal emails, and no wedding insurance.

Some of you last week were a little bit spicy with me because I didn't film a video longer than 45 minutes and I didn't delineate that it was a part 1 of 2 parts. And while I understand your frustrations— Hold on. I would like you to say that to her. Everyone say hi, Rory.
Hi.
Do you want to tell them why I can't record for 3 hours straight? Do you want to tell them or should I tell them? Because she's not going to feed herself, okay? Is it so bright in here? You've never seen mommy's office like this, huh?
Whoa.
So I get it. I know that you want all the parts in one, but someone is exclusively breastfed. So these thighs are not gonna fill themselves out. Okay? Okay.
I got you.
I got you. Say bye everybody. Bye. Annie Hootles, I get that you're excited. I get that you're excited and I'm excited too, but I have to put a limit on my filming time. All right, okay. And as many of you know, she's number 5, so there's a lot— there's a lot happening out there. Okay, okay. So without further ado, let's just jump right on into it. And if you have no idea what I'm talking about, part 1 is linked right there. That's now been renamed part 1. Okay, everybody calm down.
Part 3 of Where the Fuck Did I Get Married? At this point, Cassidy is at the venue for her wedding weekend. She finds out there are 9 beds missing. They put in more playground equipment and stuff outside that blocks basically the last spot left to get married.
Okay, if you missed it, I'm actually— I'm just going to give you a synopsis real quick. This is a TikTok influencer. She doesn't call herself that, but she has a large following. She picked an Airbnb to get married at. She decided to sign a contract outside of Airbnb with the property management company directly, and they said, hey, if you send people our way, we'll give you a little discount on your wedding day. And so she hustled and basically shared this venue like crazy with all of her followers and kept a log of all of the followers who said, hey, I'm interested in getting married at this place. Can you give me their information? She tracked all of that and passed it off to the venue. And the venue has been really, really bad about communication just in general, but basically paid little to no attention to this whole list of warm leads that she had curated for them and lost track of all of them. And now it's looking like there's a chance that her wedding might not even happen. One of her TikTok followers actually ended up booking the location and had her event before this creator did and is texting her all of these details of all of the things that have changed that they didn't warn the couples about. You do need to watch part 1. That's a good enough synopsis if you don't want to go watch the that, but it provides way more context.
She's finding out all of this on the dot when she has 30 family members that are supposed to be coming to her wedding weekend. I'm freaking out cuz my wedding's literally in a month. We're in peak festival season out in the desert. Every hotel is expensive, every hotel is booked. My entire family is expecting a free vacation and then being able to stay on site. How are we going to book hotel rooms? Like, literally my head was absolutely spinning.
This is the only time— obviously not in her case scenario, but for you, if you are having your event in a place that has some sort of festival, whether it's music, a hot air balloon festival, I don't know, Oktoberfest that happens in the area where you're getting married. This is the only time I recommend room blocks. That's it. And even then I recommend courtesy instead of what's the other one where you have to like sign legal documentation saying you're going to pay for these rooms? I don't like those. I don't like those. I don't like them because in my opinion, it's just one extra administrative task that you don't necessarily need to be keeping track of if you don't have to. Okay, so if you're in a location that has festivities like this and you need housing for a lot of people, do room blocks and include that in your communication with your guests. So that can be on your invitation, maybe, but most likely on your website, possibly under FAQs, but maybe even a little bit more prominent on the homepage, because we need your guests to know that if they wait too long to book, they might not have a place to stay. This gal, this gal, I don't know what she's gonna do because 9 beds are gone. 9. Nueve.
I won't get too far into Cassie's experience because that is her experience, but I do need to mention that they were the absolute worst to her. She called them at 1 PM freaking out, saying like, hello, there's 9 beds missing, why was I not contacted about this? Which, that is just diabolical. Let's put aside the fact that me and her were both getting married. Let's say somebody was just planning a family vacation, a family reunion. When you book an Airbnb, you are specifically booking a spot, probably expecting it to accommodate the size of your group. The fact that they took out 9 beds and did not feel the need to inform me or her, and they had other bookings, like What do you mean that is something you're just not going to share with people when they have 30 people planning on staying on site? Like, that is absolutely insane to me. I will never get over that.
Okay, that is diabolical. For me as a planner, I'm like, okay, we could figure something out, we could figure something out. Sleeping is not the biggest issue in my opinion. In my opinion, the biggest issue is they now don't have a space for a ceremony because the owner of this property has now installed so many sports courts. That's what we're calling them, sports courts. That— there's nothing cute left. It's all gone. She gone. It's— there's nothing left, and it's no longer aesthetic. And while they did want to have a very interactive, very fun weekend, um, this now ruins every single photo. If you're getting married on a volleyball court, it's not the same as like a lush green yard.
Yeah, but anyway, she calls them at 1 PM to tell them what was going on. They offered to bring out cots and air mattresses, which in my opinion is still not ideal. I would not want my mom or grandparent or aunt on a freaking cot or an air mattress when I'm spending thousands of dollars on an Airbnb. She calls them at 1 PM, they ghost her all day long after that. After they said, oh, we're gonna come make it right, they ghost her all day long. Someone finally shows up at 11 PM.
Shut up. 11 PM? My mother's in bed by 9, 9:30 at the latest. That means we're shuffling people who are considering themselves night owls into the main living spaces so the other people can go to sleep at a decent time. Okay, 11 PM. I don't like this company at all with Cotton Air mattresses.
What in the world took them 10 hours to bring those? And the person that dropped it off to her literally told her that he was just called and woken up 30 minutes prior. I can't even imagine what she went through. I feel terrible for her. Like, her experience, hands down, a million times worse than mine. Like, what do you mean you're gonna walk into your wedding weekend to that shit show? Like, that is actually insane. But we don't really chat more after that. She's at her wedding enjoying herself, right? Um, coincidentally enough, Sarah reaches out to me Friday and it's just like, hey, just want to touch base. I know for a fact she found out what happened to Cassidy and she was trying to do like a little premature damage control with me. Until that point she had just said, oh, I found out there—
oh wait, hold on, hold on, hold on. I actually really want to read this. Okay. Um, Sarah says, hey, I'd love to chat today and also get you set up with blank that I'm not off or not available for your wedding.
What?
Okay, but I don't know what that means. Sounds great. I'm with my family today but should have time later today. Sarah responds, I'm also really excited you're going to check the property out just to make sure it's still something that is making you happy. Why would it not? Why would it not, Sarah? Why would it not? Because it could— it be that there's a bride getting married there today that is not happy with the property? Could it be that? I am learning that there was a structure slash playground put there and want to make sure you are happy. Yes, I've always wanted to get married on a slide. I'm so glad you double-checked. Thank you. Thank you. That was very generous and very thoughtful of you. Like, this, this makes, this, this makes my blood boil. Also, low-key, just a little playground. It's not a big deal. You could have the bridesmaids, you know how they like the, the steps that you climb up? You could have the bridesmaids there, and then you could have the groomsmen— hear me out, hear me out— you know the rope ladder? You could have them sitting on it. Okay, because there's like a little square for each keister. Okay. And then they'd kind of be still like it's an altar space, an altar location. And if the slide doesn't work, you and your fiancé can sit on the swings. It's an event no one will forget for all the right reasons.
She had just said, oh, I found out there was playground equipment at a putting green. She didn't mention the bed situation, so I wasn't going to mention it either. I'm like, yeah, that's really unfortunate. Like, that's the spot left that we were planning on getting married.
And like, you know, I saw the photos. Melty face. We will definitely need to see it in person to figure out what our plan is! Tomorrow would be great actually! Why are we including these? She didn't deserve those, okay? All we're missing is an LOL and like a heart emoji. And just confirming, we should be able to visit between 1 and 3-ish, right? Sarah replies, I'm so sad to have someone else unhappy. It stinks because I'm not there and feel pretty helpless. Yes! Okay, I'm sure you're so helpless, Sarah. I'm sorry, I just, I just, I just— it doesn't seem honest. It doesn't seem actually contrite. She doesn't seem actually sorry. Maybe it's the amount of exclamation points, but what do I know?
Like, you know, really annoying, whatever. We finally go Sunday and view it in person and in fact confirm that there are 9 beds missing. And I would put my life on that because I have videos from every single time I've gone to that venue, which this was now our third. There were 9 beds missing. Sarah has the audacity to text me and say, hey, what did you think of the space? Like, Oh, like I was going to be so pleasantly surprised.
Hey, how was it? What do you think? Blank. Definitely surprised by the amount of changes. It's really tough to find a space to do the ceremony, but we will brainstorm and look up rentals. But shocked at the amount of beds that were taken out and not being notified about that. It completely changes all sleeping arrangements we had pre-planned for, and we specifically chose that location with the expectation that we would be able to accommodate our family. If I was the planner in this situation, I would 100% be getting involved in the communication. Also, I, I feel like emails a lot more appropriate manner of communication. It feels more serious. It lets them know where I— like, I just feel like a text message feels a little too passive. They're not going to take it as seriously. Maybe that's just me. Maybe that's the millennial in me. Maybe this is like a Gen Z experience. But like, I also feel like legally having an email thread feels more appropriate than having a text thread. So as you were putting together communication, if you are expressing frustration with your venue and/or any vendor that you are working with, I highly recommend that if you were talking about it via text, you follow up via email and say, as per our text conversation, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, just in case. Okay, she might have done that, I don't know. She obviously did her due diligence by taking videos, which is very, very smart. Hear me with this: take photos and videos at every single venue tour that you do. Most venues are not going to pull this, this stuff, this stuff. Okay, most venues are going to be the same from your first visit to your wedding day, but as a just in case It's good security, it's good insurance. Speaking of which, you should probably get that. Okay. However, it's also really helpful when you are planning out where things are going to go in the venue. If you forget what one corner looks like, will a table fit there? Will that work with your overall table layout? Is where you want to put the DJ logical? Just the overall spacing. You can forget what the room looks like, etc. So capturing that is always a really good idea.
Express my frustration to her, especially over the bed situation, in which she tells me that management is telling her there are only 3 beds missing.
I'm still being challenged by upper management that there's 3 less beds only. Crying face. Sobbing. I am being told the rooms are bigger now, but 3 less beds. We've replaced with rollaways. 9 beds were taken out and 4 were added, so we're still down 5 beds. But I was told the property was expanding, so when they added rooms, I was expecting those to be additions on top of what was already there. Okay, just bear in mind, she's not asking for more beds. She's asking for the booked amount of beds.
That is a damn lie. They are literally the biggest gaslighters I've ever met in my life. And they told Cassidy the same thing, that 9 beds weren't missing, it was only 3.
Oh, sorry, I missed this part. Um, I believe you, of course Cassidy said the same thing. Has Sarah ever seen the property?
Like, which I give them the benefit of the doubt and I say 9 beds were taken out but 4 were added when they added on those bedrooms. But we were expecting those to be additions. Like, he told me construction's done and we added on 3 bedrooms. So I thought, great, we got more beds. So I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Yes, 9 were taken out. Yes, you guys added 4. That's still -5 beds. Yep. That's still, what, 10 heads that could sleep in beds that are literally now gone? Then Sarah tries to claim, oh, the owners thought that people would be happy to get rid of bunk beds and get real beds.
The owners felt like all would be happy to get rid of the bunk beds and get real beds. Parentheses, just keeping you updated. Thanks for the update. The bunk beds were not replaced by actual beds though. There are 3 queen beds that were taken out of the second casita and not replaced by any additional beds. There were also 2 bunks taken out of the other casita, also not replaced by any beds. Why are we having to walk her through this? And I feel like she's trying to play good cop here when she should just say, you're right, you're right, I don't, I don't have any— I, I just, I feel like even she— is gaslighting the word for what she's doing? I don't think so, but it's not —sweating. It's not good.
They did not replace bunk beds with real beds. They took out multiple bunk beds. They took out multiple queen beds. They took out multiple king beds. 9 beds are gone. You did not just take out bunk beds and replace them by real beds. Like, it's the way they would, like, continue to lie and gaslight and try and convince us of something when we literally had videos and photos. Like, you cannot convince me you did not take out 9 beds. Like, I will show you the footage.
This is the one I'm referring to. All 3 of those beds are gone, which would typically sleep 6 people. Bringing in 3 rollaway beds would not solve something under her tag, something under her handle. And that's on top of other beds missing from other casitas and the main house. Well, don't worry. Sarah reacted with more exclamation points.
Okay. Okay. Basically, at the end of Sunday, Sarah had asked, what can we do for you? Like, what is the solution? I still owed them 50% of my booking, so I owed them about $4,200. I said, I think the best solution is that I only owe you guys 50% of that 50%. So essentially they would take off 25% of our entire booking, about $2,400. Mind you, Cassidy got $1,900 off of her booking. I still had my referral bonus I was supposed to get back, and I was supposed to get a discount for bringing in rentals. Now 9 beds are gone, so I felt like $2,400 off was pretty reasonable. Like, that was a little bit more than Cassidy got off.
Cassidy's $1,900 off was determined before we knew anything about the bed situation. Okay, okay, okay. I feel like $2,400 is not aggressive enough, but I do feel vehemently that the owner is gonna push back. Or the property management is going to push back and they're going to communicate this through Sarah. But I don't—
I don't know. This is where they really start to trigger me. So we have that conversation Sunday night and I don't hear from her and I check in Tuesday. Hey Sarah, do you have an update? Check in again Thursday. Hey Sarah, do you have an update? It's now April 2nd. It is literally our wedding month and I do not blank.
Know you're doing your best to get an answer, but was hoping to get some info soon. The wedding is less than 30 days away and now I have hotel rooms and additional rentals to book that I did not originally budget for. So I really need an answer soon on what the reimbursement will look like so I can get these things squared away. Sarah responds, yes, for sure. I will call blank within the hour. It's hard and taking long because owners are not in the same posit— She's working hard. Okay, I can tell. Thanks.
And I do not have an update on if I'm getting money back, if I can afford to place my family elsewhere. They're also supposed to be getting back to me to let me know if they're going to be putting more beds in, like Everything was up in the air on like what they were going to do to accommodate us in literally the next like 4 weeks. Everything comes to a peak that Friday, okay, April 3rd. I am literally leaving the next day for my bachelorette. I'm gonna be gone for 5 days. So I told Sarah like, I need an answer tonight. I'm not gonna be wedding planning for the next 5 days. I need an answer before I leave because when I come back, it's literally go, go, go. Like the wedding is going to be here before we know it. That's when she tells me the manager of the property management— let's call her Ashley— Ashley's going to go to the property today and talk with the owners. Mind you, every single day this week she's told me that Ashley's going to talk with the owners, and Ashley has not talked with the owners.
Okay, I love at this point the creator's like checking in, no grammatical additions at all whatsoever. You don't even get a period from me, okay? You just get two words. You get two words. Exclamation points are gone. We are well past LOLs, okay? Not that there ever really was any that I saw, but we're past that time, okay? Um, blank's driving there today. I thought we were waiting to hear from the owners. We are. Owners are not wanting to do anything. She's meeting with them there and sharing where beds need to go, etc. What have we been doing this time. I feel like all we're getting from Sarah is fluff language.
Mind you, every single day this week she's told me that Ashley's going to talk with the owners, and Ashley has not talked with the owners. But today is the day that it's going to happen. While I'm waiting to hear from Sarah on like what answer Ashley has come up with, Sarah starts telling me, oh, we actually don't think we're going to give you a reimbursement after all.
But what I was also doing, the assumption that there would still be a reimbursement for additional rentals, which is what you were able to provide to Cassidy. I know it's not fast, it's just our only decision, you know. We have to work with them. Okay, she's probably referring to a previous text. Uh, we are working on that as well. It's tricky because the owners are free and able to change things. With last reimbursement and such poor outcome, owners are like, why? I'll call you today. I promise we are working hard. So now she's basically said, yeah, no, the owners don't care. The owners de-gaff so hard in this moment. Like, this is their playground and they don't care that they're ruining your wedding day. That's what I'm hearing. Is that what you're hearing? Sound off the comments.
Because Cassidy was so upset after her wedding that like giving her a reimbursement didn't actually fix the problem. Of course not. First of all, why are you talking to me about another customer? That is extremely unprofessional. It is none of my business what experience Cassidy has, and it's up to Cassidy to tell me her experience. Why does Cassidy's experience and whatever issue you guys had with Cassidy, what does that have to do with me?
We are 100% shooting for reimbursement. We just need to be sure you're going to be happy after that. We have had a really hard time after last time. All I can really share about it. This does not— this could not matter less. I don't care. I don't care. I don't— you— if you promise to be happy, we'll refund you. That's not how this works. I am not happy. You are giving me a refund to lessen the damages, emotional and financial, that you caused by your miscommunication. I cannot guarantee I'm going to be happy afterwards, but I can tell you that this might not end up in small claims court. I can tell you that this might not end up in an extremely negative review on your website. I can tell you that I'm not going to go on the internet and badmouth you to thousands of my followers. My happiness is not the barometer that we're operating off of. That ship has sailed. What we're operating off of now is compensation for your screw-ups. Do not make this about my emotions. Make this about you owning up and you taking responsibility for all of the changes that you've made. My happiness is not on the table. That's none of your concern. And if I'm unhappy afterwards, that's still also none of your concern. It hasn't been your concern this entire time. So why is it coming to the table and being a part of the conversation now? You have not tended to my needs. You have not responded to me in a professional manner or a professional timeframe. So why is it now about my emotions instead of you taking accountability? I dropped the mic, but it's like plugged in.
So because you guys refunded a different customer that was still unhappy because they had a horrific experience, I am ineligible for any discount. You just discounted somebody getting married in March for the same situation I am experiencing getting married in April, but now I can't get a discount because she wasn't happy. Like, make that make sense. So unprofessional overall. 10:30 in the morning after I'd been told that Ashley was going to the property to speak with the owners. I get a text from Ashley directly. Remember, this is like the manager of the property management. She says, this is Ashley, let me know when you're free. I text her in 0.3 seconds and say, hey Ashley, I'm free. Do I get a response?
Of course not. Okay, that's at 10:24 AM. She immediately responds, next is 12:16 PM, same day.
I text her at 12:15, 2 hours later. Hey Ashley, I leave for a trip tomorrow for 5 days. I won't be available. Hoping we can connect today. 'Please let me know what time works.' I don't get a response. Why would you text me, ask me when I'm free, imply that you're going to be helping me, and then just literally ghost me? Like, it is the story of my life with these people. So I literally take a screenshot of that conversation with Ashley. I send it to Sarah around 3 o'clock, and I'm like, 'Hey Sarah, I don't know what's going on. She reached out to me this morning.
I still have not heard from her.' She gets slammed with what? Slammed with what? Because you've now canceled people's weddings at this point. You have removed entire weddings from the docket. I hope you've refunded them, but I don't know, because maybe they weren't happy with that decision, so you couldn't give them their money back. So what do I know? What do I know? But what is she slammed with? This is peak priority. This is of the utmost priority. This is someone's wedding date. Some— this is why I think, and I said this in the last video, some people think that opening a wedding venue is like a get-rich-quick scheme. It is not. It is absolutely Absolutely not. It is difficult. You have to be honoring of the couples that are getting married there. You have to be readily available to take phone calls and you have to handle yourself professionally. Actually, the 3 things I just listed off were not that dramatic. They're not that big of a deal, but you actually have to like customers to have customers. In fact, there's one venue that I worked with and the owner hated people and I was like, why are you doing this, man? Like he brought me on to consult with him and I was like, You're grouchy and also severely inappropriate. But that's a story for another time. And I don't think you should be hosting events here when you don't like events here. Okay.
Anyways, Sarah says, let me find out what's going on. I'm sure she's busy. Then at 6:15, I still have not received an update and I'm literally leaving at 6 in the morning for my bachelorette. Sarah tells me, oh, I think she's on a plane, but I know she'll get back to me. How is she on a plane now?
Like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. No, we're reading this. Am I going to receive an update today? Again, no punctuation. 'Get it, girly, they don't deserve any punctuation from you.' 'I haven't heard back either. She may be on a plane, but I know she will get back to me. I just got a hold of her, she's going to give me a call. Sorry, talk to text, LOL, did not mean to say gonna.
Okay, I'll stay tuned.' With these people, it's the most extravagant stories ever. Like, after fact-checking with Cassidy, it's always someone's in Cabo, someone's on a plane, someone's giving birth, someone's at a baby shower. Like, My dog just got out.
Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry for the delay. My dog got out and right now is a tennis tournament, so it's been a madhouse. Hey Beauty, I'm just leaving the hospital. False alarm, LOL. Free later today. Beauty, Beauty, Beauty. Oh, why do I hate that? Why do I hate that? These are the kind of excuses that people make when you know they're lying. You know they're lying. Okay, I'm sorry, there was traffic. No, you just left late. Like, just say that. Uh, I'm sorry I didn't get back to you. My dog got out and now there's a tennis tournament, so it's a little crazy. Just say, sorry, what can I do for you? We don't need your BS excuses. I don't care that your dog got out at this point. I don't. And I say that as a full-blown pet lover. Y'all already know, okay? I love pets and I'd be very heartbroken if someone's dog got out. But at this point, I don't believe that that actually happened.
And I think you're full of crap. It's always the most extravagant stories with them. Finally, it's 8 PM. I am so fed up. I've been so nice to Sarah up until this point. I'm like, I cannot do this anymore. Everyone's giving me the runaround. Nobody can give me an answer. I've been—
okay. Oh, it's a long one. I'm really trying to be understanding here, but I feel like I'm just getting the runaround. I'm constantly promised I'm going to get a phone call or an answer, and I just sit around waiting all day. I don't know why blank would text me and ask me if I was available to talk if she wasn't going to respond to me, or if she was getting on a flight. I responded to her within seconds, and especially after I told her I won't be available after today. I'm paying so much money for this booking, and consistently over the last year have had the same recurring issue that no one is willing to communicate with me. Boom. I'll be honest, it hurts to hear that when I'm doing the best I can. I understand it's taking more time, but it's a super complex situation. Sarah, baby girl, this is not just against you, okay? So don't make it about your emotion. Why are we including emotions in this? Let's just take it all out, okay? She's not trying to hurt your feelings. She's just speaking logically, and she's specifically calling out Ashley, not you. Okay, so don't make this about yourself. Oh, I hate this.
I've been talking to them since literally 8 in the morning. Like, why can nobody just get back to me? And I like literally just express all of my frustration to Sarah. When Sarah says that I hurt her feelings, she's trying her best, whatever. But this is where things really escalate. Okay. Ashley, the manager of the property management, finally calls me. I shit you not, at 9 p.m. at night after she texts me at 10:30 in the morning. She lets me know, sorry I didn't get back to you, I've been sick and I haven't been working all day. What is— they can't even get their stories together. Sarah told me Ashley was meeting with the owners, then Sarah told me Ashley was on a flight, and then Ashley told me herself that she was sick and didn't even work today. So it's like they all would just like— nobody was on the same page with their lies. And like, this is what I'm telling you, like, I unfortunately have to share this level of detail because every conversation ever for the entire year, there was always some explanation that didn't make sense. There was always lies, it was always gaslighting, and it's like, why are you all telling me different stories? And it's like, they made their life more difficult. Just tell me you'll get back to me tomorrow if you're gonna get back to me tomorrow. Like, don't give me some weird lie on why you couldn't get back to me today, and then your guys's lies don't even add up. Like, that was what was so frustrating. I wanted them to realize, like, do you guys realize that you're all telling different lies?
Okay, so this is where I get really mad with Sarah. She's like, I'm trying my best. Are you, bestie babes? Are you? Because did you even contact Ashley to see if she really was available? Did you make up the plane thing? Like, you're not trying. This reminds me of Devil Wears Prada 1, the first one, um, which, by the way, the second one, eh, right? Eh, not nostalgic, a little bit, but like also meh. Uh, when Stanley Tucci's character— what's his name, what's his name? Oh, it doesn't matter. And he's like, you're not trying, you're not trying. That's— that's this. Okay. But less cute and with less cute clothing. Okay. And with a way less cute closet involved because they probably took the closets out. Okay.
For a putting green. I wish on everything in my soul that I would have recorded this conversation, but unfortunately, that's illegal in California. I cannot believe the interaction I had with Ashley. Mind you, this is my first time speaking with her. I've been so nice to everyone up until this point. The entire conversation she told me I was milking the situation and I was just trying to get money, that me and Kasey were like working in cahoots to get refunds on our booking. She told me I got an influencer discount on my booking. What? She was gaslighting me into thinking like, oh well, you already got like an influencer deal and like you're paying less. I was like, no, I— again, here's like the influencer conversation. I was a full normal paying customer that saw their booking on Airbnb that contacted them, that paid normal rates. Everyone I was referring was getting more of a discount than I was. Up until—
okay, do I even have anything to say or just need to pause to be angry? I think she needs to pause to be angry, especially because she's got receipts. She— she—
up until this point, I still had not even gotten my 8% back for Cassidy's booking. What do you mean I got an an influencer deal. That is insane. She told me, me and Cassie got such a deal, we wouldn't be able to get married anywhere else for that price. Like, and she kept saying, and you know it, you know you got such a deal with this venue. What do you mean? I saw your booking online. I booked it at the price you listed, and now I'm being gaslit and like shamed into the fact that like I got an affordable wedding because I paid the price you— like, I, I could not wrap my mind around the conversation I was having. Like, there's no way in hell You guys have put me through this the last year, and your responses tell me that I'm milking it, that I got an influencer deal, gaslighting me into thinking I got just the steal of a century because now all this work has been done to the venue that I didn't want done. You guys took out beds. I'm editing this, and I also need to mention something they kept consistently telling me and Cassidy was that we were getting such a deal because after the construction, the price was going to go up 3 times. It was going to be 3 times more expensive. I'm here to let you know I checked the exact week after our wedding— yeah you did—
price has not changed it has not changed at all so we got gaslit into thinking we got such a deal and we're supposed to feel guilty about getting a deal when there's no deal they never increase the price okay so so if I'm understanding this correctly I don't know how many beds I think she said like 30 people are planning on staying there okay so let's say there's 15 rooms I don't just rough math okay and they want to take it from $8,400, if I'm remembering my math correctly. And then 3 times that much would be $24,000 plus another $1,200. $25,200. You're going to charge $25,000 for a 2-night stay? You and what army? What are you— what are you saying? You are so full of— Family channel, family channel, family channel, family channel, family channel. Okay, this is infuriating, especially— and I love that she checked afterwards. She's like, you didn't— you changed nothing. This one's actually making me extremely angry.
Okay, you guys ruined the area I was supposed to get married in. Like, what do you mean I am benefiting from this situation? That is insane. Mind you, we are weeks out from my wedding. She starts telling me how The owner is so fed up after Cassidy's experience that he is so ready to cancel weddings. Mind you, Cassidy did nothing wrong. They did her so dirty. And the fact that they were acting like they were so fed up after her wedding makes me triggered. And she's trying to be on my side. She's trying to keep him from canceling my wedding. But if she goes and shares with him how unhappy I am, that he's probably going to want to cancel my wedding. I'm like, gosh, you're, you're threatening to cancel my wedding right now because I'm expressing frustration to you that the booking I made, the reservation I booked a year ago is now completely different. It is literally false advertising. I booked a place with X amount of beds and X amount of bedrooms, and that is no longer the case. I was not informed about it. Nobody communicated with me. And now because I'm expressing frustration to you over that, you're going to threaten to cancel the wedding. You're going to threaten me that the owner is so fed up with weddings that you're going to cancel it. And again, why is that my business?
Exactly, exactly. I don't care what the owner's feeling. Just honor the agreement and move on, okay? Honestly, at this point, the owner should probably just suck it up, recognize— and he already has recognized that it's not going to be something that he's going to want to do moving forward. But at least honor the people that you said yes to. At least honor this one last wedding. But, but this like blackmail-y kind of conversation of like, well, if you're that unhappy, the owner's not gonna like I don't care what the owner likes. I don't care. That's not a part of this conversation. I am a paying customer. You are receiving thousands of my dollars, thousands of them, and you seem to not care at all. And I get that you're saying it's triple the cost now. That's not what I paid for. We are honoring the original agreement. Like, it's just— these people should not be dealing with customers, or maybe people like other humans, ever. Ever. Oh.
Oh, why is it my business that you guys are so fed up with weddings? You guys booked my booking and like now like it's my fault that I'm having a wedding now? Like I'm an inconvenience to you guys because I'm having a wedding at your Airbnb that I paid for? Like, not wrap my mind around it. But she was basically saying like the owner didn't want to give me any money back and that if he was going to give me any money back, he was going to want to cancel. And so basically I had to choose, like, am I going to keep my mouth shut and keep my booking, or am I going to really push for a refund and then he might cancel my wedding in 3 weeks? Like, literally, those are the two options she gave me. Like, I— what? I swear to God, I wish I— I wish I had video proof of this conversation. It was the most insane conversation I've ever had with a manager in my life. I can't even remember the rest because I blacked out in anger. I literally called my mom after. I texted Cassidy immediately after, and I was like, you're not gonna believe this conversation I just had. And like, I literally had a pit in my stomach where I'm like, I am literally not allowed to say anything about my frustration with the situation because now I'm risking like my entire wedding.
Um, read your contracts, read your contracts, read your contracts. Please, please read your contracts because if they, if they have a contract together, there would have to be a reason legally for the venue owner to cancel the event. There has to be something in the paperwork. Did she say something about that in the last video though, about they can cancel for any reason? I don't recall. I don't recall. Now that I'm saying that, that feels like it might be true. But this is why you need to read your contracts to make sure that people can't cancel for just emotional reasons. You need to honor your end of the agreement. If not, you need to give me my money back. So what she's being told is shut up and have your wedding, or keep complaining and you won't. This is not— this is not professionalism. This is not how business is handled. This is not how we do things in the wedding industry. Read your contracts, please and thank you.
3 weeks out, mind you, I'm already stressed. I'm in the middle of wedding planning, and now it's being thrown in my face that my wedding might be canceled. Finish the conversation by saying she was going to speak to the owners. We were going to get in a couple of cots, which I was fine with for children, but they still needed to bring in 2 more beds into one of the casitas because I was not going to have my dad sleep on an air mattress. Okay. She was going to talk to the owners and confirm that. She said she'd end up giving me some type of small discount in return, which she could not give me an answer on. Literally called Tyler. I'm like, I don't know what to do. I don't know. Like, I'm trying to advocate for myself. I'm trying to like be assertive for once in my life. But the fact that like like now it's being thrown in my face that they might cancel my wedding that is literally 3 weeks out. Like, I felt like I was put in a position where I just needed to literally shut up and like put my head down and grind and get through the next 3 weeks of wedding planning and just show up to my wedding and hope that everything was okay and hope that they would actually follow through with the things they told me they were going to follow through with. I'm with her.
I get it. I probably would have made the same choice. I know everyone has gonna like gonna have different opinions on this, but when you're in the last 4 to 6 weeks of your event, it's called the 'why didn't we elope' period, uh, where couples go, what are we doing? What's What's going on? I don't want to do this anymore. I'm exhausted. This is so much more than I thought we were taking on. Everyone's calling me, everyone's texting me. I have all these last-minute stupid details to figure out. I thought I wanted to do these DIYs and now I want to light them on fire. Why did I say yes to so many things? Why did I think it was such a good idea to DIY the coffee bar? Why am I doing this? Why are we even getting married? Just kidding, I love you, I still want to get married to you, but this whole wedding planning thing sucks. And that's the last month. If you've been married before, sound off in the comments if I'm correct. Okay, if you've already had your wedding, because there's just this element of like, oh wow, which is why I highly recommend my book. Subtle plug. Take a look at this because I finally got the real— I got the real cover. It's gold foiled, guys, and it's a faux leather, fully bound. Oh my gosh, I cannot— is that upside down? Yeah, it's upside down. I can't get over this, guys. I wrote a book. This is a dummy copy, so there's literally like nothing on the inside of it. Oh, and here's the back. Look at the cute little getaway cart. But I keep getting questions on, is there an actual physical book? Yes, 100%. 100%. And I also got questions of, does this replace the Master Plan? Absolutely not. I think the Master Plan has an extreme amount of value because you get live phone calls with me once a month. I'm live for a whole hour. You're not going to get that with this. But also, I'm a pen-to-paper girly. I have notes written down on physical paper all around me. This helps my brain process better than sometimes videos do. And so I wanted to create a resource that would work perfectly combined with the master plan or separate from it. So this is going to be— it's going to keep changing the lighting on my camera. So if I get real dark, okay. This is for my girlies who like to write things physically in books and keep track of it that way. The master plan is fully digital. But while they both walk you through wedding planning, yes, in a very linear and easy to understand fashion, they're two completely different offerings. In my opinion, the best thing to do is to buy this and join the master plan. That's the best thing to do. So you have something physical. To write things in, to take with you to appointments, to make sure you're asking the questions from this book when you're interviewing vendors, and then having access to the master plan and to the live calls for when you hit snags and when you hit issues, etc. Anyways, I just— I just wanted you to see it. Look at the gold foiling. Look, it says Jamie Wolfer. That's me. That's me. That's my book. Okay, um, pre-order for the US Amazon link's gonna be down here, and then for anywhere outside the US and/or other sellers is be in the description box.
Okay, let's keep going. So I get to our wedding, everything is perfect. The two beds were there, the cots were there. Good. They were actually extremely attentive the entire weekend. Like, there was a couple times we had questions or we needed something, and like, they sent maintenance out, they gave us supplies for something. Like, they really redeemed themselves, and I think they knew they were like in deep shit with me. Good. And I was overall very, very impressed. Like, stress leading up to the wedding, 1 million out of 10, but the actual wedding weekend, which is what really matters, like, everything was perfect. So So I was very, very happy. And like me and Tyler have said multiple times, like, we are very impressed that they like stuck to their promises and, you know, we got to get married. So thank God. I'll say the only annoying thing they did was on the actual wedding night, I guess the cops got called for noise complaints. It's in the middle of Palm Desert with a bunch of rich white old people, okay? Like, let me just say that. I knew the cops were gonna get called for like a noise ordinance. Cops showed up at like 9:30 and he was like, oh, you guys are totally fine, like the music isn't even that loud. Noise ordinance is 10 PM. Like, keep doing your thing, just make sure you turn off the music at 10, which was our plan. Our DJ was only booked till 10 anyways.
Okay, so quick, quick pause on this. This tells me that the venue owner did not go around and tell the neighbors what he was doing, and the neighbors are probably pissed, and understandably so. Okay, if you live in a residential area and you are dealing with loud music every single weekend, at a certain point you're going to be annoyed. At a certain point, you're going to be ticked off when every single Saturday night it's bumping until 9:50, 9 PM. You don't want that. That's not why you bought this leisurely home, because clearly this is in a very expensive area. If there's enough property for this owner to add this many sports courts, then it's got to be expensive. And Palm Springs— Palm Springs or Palm Desert? I think she said Palm Desert. Listen, it may be hot as heck, but it's ritzy in some of those locations. People paid a lot to be there. And they absolutely have the right to say, I don't want music playing. I guarantee you the owner said nothing to anybody. And that's why we're running into this issue. We've literally had backyard events or homes that want to turn into venues where the neighbors would call the cops every single time there was amplified music because they were so annoyed that the owner of the home did not clear it with them first. So I guarantee you this is one of many reasons on the list why this owner is no longer doing weddings, because there are some ticked off neighbors. Is it this person's fault? Is it the cop's fault? No. Is it the neighbor's fault? No. This all lands on the owner. Yes. But if you're gonna do a backyard wedding, please talk to your neighbors and don't assume. Don't assume, "Oh, they'll be fine with it. It's only until 10 PM." Don't assume, okay? Do you remember that baby that you saw earlier? If you were bumping really loud music until 9:59 PM and keeping her up, I would have feelings about it. I would try to be understanding, but I would still have feelings about it because you're not the one feeding her to sleep repeatedly over and over and over again. Head. Okay, that's me. So I'm allowed to have feelings. Probably not gonna call the cops, but I will feel something.
Ashley decides to show up to my wedding at 9:45, and I didn't know she was there. Thank God my maid of honor handled it and nobody told me what was going on. But apparently she started going at it with my maid of honor. It was a little tense. She was basically saying that our music was at concert-level volume and we were risking their, uh, what did she say, that we were putting their livelihood at risk. And basically she was so concerned that we were gonna get them some like $20,000 noise fine, which doesn't make sense. The cops were just there, the cops didn't care. Anyways, my maid of honor came back, told the DJ like, hey, we need to turn down the music. And the DJ was like, I literally have 2 songs left. So we didn't turn down the music. Yep. And we continued our night like we were legally allowed to, and we turned it off right at 10 o'clock and everyone was happy.
Okay. Yep, yep. I wonder if there's an HOA involved. I wonder if there's some sort of board involved that says like you can't host events of this magnitude here, and, and the owner did it anyways. This is so messed up on so many levels. And then the fact that Ashley came out there to reprimand them for playing music at concert level. There are decibel limits. You can actually record decibel levels. You want to know how I know this? A friend of mine in high school kept getting pulled over in his Honda Civic because the exhaust was too loud. Do you want to know who that friend was? If you watch enough of my videos, then you will know that was Dave McQueen with Amari Productions. He would have the paperwork to show that his his exhaust on his Honda Civic was just under the legal limit of the decibel level, and he kept it in the trunk of his car. And anytime he got pulled over, which was frequent, he would show them that he had it. He could prove that. So there are ways to prove that it's not too loud. It wasn't concert level, I would bet. It's a normal level. DJs are used to this. They are not going to work themselves out of a job. They're not going to play it so loud that they could be legally in trouble. This is their livelihood. So this is illogical. It makes no sense. I do want a little bit more tea from the maid of honor. I'm a little disappointed we didn't get a little bit more information, but I mean, we're on video 2 of this debacle, so I guess, I guess we got plenty, right?
In terms of the refund situation, I went into that wedding weekend, they had not charged me yet. Like, I still owed them $4,200. And at the very end of the wedding weekend, Sunday night, they charged me really late Sunday night. I think they charged me, charged me $2,900. I had owed them $4,200. So if you take into account the fact that I was supposed to get back about 8% from referring Cassidy to the venue, they gave me like a $500 discount. Now, obviously they gave Cassidy $1,900, only gave me $500. I will admit she had a horrific experience compared to me. Okay. So like, I feel like I'm, I'm very happy she got that amount of money back and I don't feel like I have it in me me to reach out to them and even go back and forth. Like, they never confirmed with me the amount they were going to give back to me. They never said, is this okay? They never asked about the additional rentals I was bringing in, if the $500 is going to cover it. But honestly, I was at a point where I was like, this weekend went great, I just had the time of my life, I'm so checked out from attempting to communicate with them. I just wanted to leave it at that. So that is where we have left things. I also want to mention their Airbnb listing is still not updated to this Oh God, to this day they have not updated the description where it says how many beds they have. They are still to this day falsely advertising the amount of beds, the room arrangements, everything. They have old photos, they have new photos. Like, if you were to go through as a new person trying to book, literally false advertising.
They're probably gonna say, oh, we offer that in cots and air mattresses. That's what they're gonna say. Oh no, we've accommodated that many people here before since the renovations, so the photos that you're seeing, some of them are outdated and some of them are updated. But we can still accommodate that many people if they're okay with the floor or like a squeaky little cot, you know. So technically, technically we have slept this many people. We're just not leading with the fact that they're not real beds. Yikes.
Yeah, I don't know what the moral of the story is here because I freaking loved our wedding. It was the most incredible experience of my entire life. And our— everyone that went, our families, everyone was like, that was the best weekend of our entire life. Everyone was so depressed after. And like, I can't imagine having a one-day wedding like the fact that we got 3 days with our family and friends in like a beautiful place, like it was incredible. On the other hand, the amount of stress I went through in the last year just to try to get my booking to happen is diabolical. Like that was an insane experience. I think if their communication would have been better, that would have like at least resolved some of the anxieties I had leading up to the wedding. I don't know, would I suggest an Airbnb wedding? Proceed with caution. Learn from my mistakes. Definitely keep it on Airbnb because this whole time maybe I could have reached out to Airbnb support to be like, hey, this crazy shit is happening right now with my wedding venue. But I didn't have that option because I booked directly with them. So anyway, that's where I've been for the last year. That's everything I've been bottling up inside of me, and you have no idea how bad I've been wanting to talk about it. But I knew if there was even the slightest chance that they would see a video about me talking about the situation and they were already threatening to cancel my wedding, I just— I couldn't. I would have never forgiven myself. I spoke too soon and jeopardized something. But we made it. I'm done. I'm clocking out. It was a journey.
So I know that a lot of people are going to point specifically to Airbnb platform could have helped this couple, could have helped any of the couples in this situation, which yes, they could have. It's not just Airbnbs though, guys. Actual venues do this too. Remember that venue I was referring to earlier? It— how much can I reveal? I feel like I really want to do a story time on this, but it's not one of the older venues. It's no longer a venue, if that matters or means anything to you. Um, but but it had animals on the property.
I know things, okay?
I know things. Let's just say that this owner— this, this— oh, I think I said this last time. This owner is the one that poured concrete on the ceremony space the day before they were supposed to get married there, and it wouldn't be cured in time for them to get married at it. Did we talk about that? Did we talk about that? And how we found out when we went to the rehearsal dinner, like when we showed up to rehearse there and we saw rebar Do we talk about that? Do we talk about that? And this was a registered venue. The home was on the property. Yes, but this was not an Airbnb. This was an independent venue. And we've also seen multiple venues make aesthetic changes on the outside, on the inside without updating their couples or sending out some sort of email of like, hey, we'll be making updates and it turning out to not be at all what the couple requested. So what do we do in this scenario? If you know or are made aware in advance that there will be physical or aesthetic changes to the venue, ask politely to see those renderings. See if you can see a front elevation of the facade out front, if that's being changed. See if they can show you anything from an architect— drawings, inspiration photos, kind of the overall vibe in general. I don't think there's a huge legal leg to stand on if they change the aesthetic of things, but I think you should fight to be informed of it, right? I don't think you can ask for a full refund if they paint all the walls vibrant rainbow colors and you wanted a muted palette. I don't think you pursue cancellation and/or a full refund. I think it could be argued though that you were not made aware of the aesthetic changes that had already been planned when you booked the location. And this is also a great reason to be working with a wedding planner, guys, because this would be something that I would tackle for my clients. In fact, there was a situation where there was a venue that was very neutral, very adobe, Southern California, just gorgeous, and they painted a bunch of vibrant colors all over it, and the couple was not happy. And we did intercede on their behalf. These are the kind of scenarios that, like, if you don't want to deal with it, like, if this was my client, I would be having these conversations. I would be the person saying, hey, you're not handling this properly. Hey, you're ghosting us. Like, you can't cancel the client because I'm getting mad at you. Like, you can't cancel the client because I'm holding you accountable. We'd be in a whole different ball game. So this is an argument for wedding planners, highly recommend. This is also an argument for getting wedding insurance, because if they canceled your wedding for emotional reasons. If you have your contract and you read it, you could very likely use that as a part of this conversation. Okay, okay. And then it could be the insurance agent following up on your behalf. My favorite insurance is Brightco. I'll leave them linked up right there and down in the description box below. Not sponsored, but cover your butts, ladies and gentlemen. Cover your butts. That's all we have for today's video, guys. Thank you so much for watching. Thank you for understanding why sometimes I need to break things into two 'Cause that baby ain't gonna feed herself, okay?
