I can't believe I'm about to say this, but we have a wedding shaming post that might rival M-Cub— I mean, Gemily. Bridesmaid promise contract. She had 8 of them. I'm assuming 8 bridesmaids. Don't worry, don't worry, they took pictures. They took pictures. Forgot this was in my photos from back in 2020. Feel like an appropriate amount of time has passed to share it. I was not a bridesmaid, nor did I go to the wedding, but I heard secondhand that the entire experience was an absolute nightmare from start She finished. I'm filming this within how many days of it coming out? 3 days of it coming out. But you're gonna be seeing this a little bit later. We are sitting at 5,500 upvotes and over 1,100 comments. So you know, you know it's gonna be juicy. So without further ado, let's just jump right, right on into it. Bridesmaid contract, ladies! Exclamation point, exclamation point. Oh, there's a staple. Okay. Let me just say again how happy I am that you agreed to be part of my special day because I know If you love me, please review the following and so we can work together to minimize wedding day stress. Okay, if you have not seen the viral Gemily wedding, one of the best posts I think Reddit has ever served us, ever. I'm going to go ahead and link it right up there. Okay. But this one, I do feel as though, while not laminated, could actually be worse. And I can't explain why, but already the vibe of this document is giving, I see you. And I will be giving no context whatsoever. Please then sign the document and return to me so we all know we are singing from the same hymn sheet and we can laugh till this cow comes home. What, are you calling yourself the cow? What do you mean? Okay, okay. I feel like we're using too many analogies in one sentence and they don't really make sense. Okay. Your promise to me: 1, I will In all caps and red. Do my best to attend every bridal event unless hurricane, monsoon, or tsunami prevents me. What about, what about like a, what about like an illness? Doesn't even have to be deathly, but just like vomiting, diarrhea. Sorry, I don't think I've ever said diarrhea on this channel. What a weird epiphany to have. Okay, but genuinely You want them coming then? Huh? Because there's certainly a monsoon or tsunami, if you will, happening in your friend's body. Is it only wet weather events that count? What about a tornado? Huh? What about an earthquake? What about forest fires? But these all involve water. Okay, so it only counts if there's water involved in the event. I've already got one. I will, because I already know how amazing I will look. Agree to wear the bridesmaid dress, shoes, jewelry, and other accessories on the wedding day without fuss. Okay. I will also proofread this document before sending it out to all of my girlfriends who will like me a little bit or a lot less after reading it. I will remove all items of personal jewelry on the wedding day except my own wedding/engagement rings so we bridesmaids can look similar as we are the bride's spiritual Sisters. Well, what about this, Susan? Do you have a nose piercing? Do they need to get their nose pierced to match you? Are you— or like, is all facial jewelry like not allowed and we're only going to be wearing matching stuff because our spirits will be misaligned? They will not communicate well if someone's got a nose piercing in or is wearing the wrong second stud piercing. What are we gonna do with that, Janet? We can't have that on this wedding day because we are spiritual sisters. This is insanity. Okay, okay, okay. I will remain my current svelte self. Oh, I don't like you. Although I may tone up a little more because gaining more than 7 pounds, 3 kilograms in case you couldn't do the conversion in your head, may make me look plump In the photos that will be out there for all time and for strangers to look at, and I don't want that. LOL. May both sides of your pillow be hot. Who says this to their favorite people? Also, as someone who's looking a little bit more plump than she has in her entire life because I just had my fifth baby and I'm now working out, huh? If someone said this to me, I would be so deeply frustrated with them. I don't think I'd be offended, right? I'd be like, I understand that my body looks different. If you watch this channel for the whole, what, 8 years that I've been making YouTube videos, I used to be so skinny, so like way too skinny. And now I'm on the other end where whatever, we don't need to talk about that. But you said svelte and you gave a number to that. I think you think you're being silly. Okay, we'll give grace for you maybe not understanding what you're saying. Is as abrasive as you think it is, but my guess is you have been told in your life before that you don't communicate things in the kindest way possible. This is one of those things. You do not put a number on your bridesmaid's weight. You do not encourage them to tone up. This is— we are on number 4 and there's a second page, and I could rage about this one for a long time. They're not accessories. They're your spiritual sisters, right? But only if the jewelry matches. Oh my gosh. Number 5, I will take full advantage of the fact that there will be a professional stylist, so will save my money and not make any major hair changes. I accept that if I do want a new look, it might be wise to send a sample photo or hair swatch to the bride, even ideas about wigs or hair extensions, because this will prevent the bride from having a hissy fit on the day. You are the problem. You are the problem. You cannot send this out to your wedding party. This is infantilizing. This is— no, maybe this is patronizing. You can't do this. You can't say this to people. The second you put it into writing like this, like, it just makes it so much more icky. So much more. But you can tell your friends and family, like, those who are standing with you, like, hey, I would prefer if no one does like super unnatural colors, um, but you do you if you're super excited about it. Or talk to the individual that you have concerns about. If you are not worried about the hair color of You know, 5 out of 6 of your bridesmaids, don't put it in the paperwork. You're not worried about the wigs or the extensions of, you know, 50% of your wedding party. Don't put that in the paperwork. Have an individualized discussion with that one person instead of treating everybody like they're not trusted adults. Oh, I hate this. Also, have a hissy— you can have a hissy fit over someone's wig? Really? On your wedding day? Because what, you don't like the color or the style? And you're not gonna save money by using a stylist. This, this— so I don't like you. I will also take full advantage of the pampering offered by the professional makeup artist who might bring out a different aspect of my inner beauty. I will remain respectful to her to ensure that she doesn't make me look like Gollum. Oh, what a great pop culture reference! Do you know who Gollum is? Do you think your friends are capable of being so rude To a makeup artist, so egregiously inappropriate to a professional makeup artist on your wedding day that that artist is going to go out of their way to smeagle their face. You're insane. I will avoid having un no you didn't. Here's another word I'm pretty sure I've never said on this channel. I will avoid having unsafe sex, no matter how nice it may be or how much he promises to be careful. You are deplorable. Three months prior to the wedding, if I'm not pregnant already. Because— oh my gosh— because it's gonna make you plump and we can't have that. Oh my gosh. Don't worry, there's, there's, there's multiple points to back up this. Okay. I cannot afford to buy a new dress or alter this one and not sure Vera Wang will make it in my pregnant woman size. Oh. I know I will make the wedding photos and the organization of the groomsmen look lopsided. Oh, because you're three months pregnant or two months pregnant? Haven't been pregnant a few times. Um, there's not a lot happening at that stage other than bloating. So this is all back to the plump. What is wrong with plus C? The bride will beat my behind because I'm pregnant. She'll beat me up if I'm pregnant. Not super pregnant. I mean, like if you're already like super mondo, well, you didn't maintain your svelte self, so you're out of the lineup. So that's not a big deal. But if you're like Like tiny, but like just a little bloaty. Then I'm gonna beat you up. I will make it sound funny though. Eight, I will be available on the day of the weekend of the wedding. On the day of the weekend of the wedding. We could just say that the weekend of the wedding to help in any way I am able, which may include because vendors are unreliable. Oh, oh! Setting up the site, dressing the bride. Posing for all pictures in caps, telling the bride her makeup is fading, corralling people for the traditional bouquet and garter, plus other scary and unpredictable things to ensure we have an amazing few days at Ardington House. Wait, now we're going to— I got to look it up. Okay, I got to look it up. Oh, she cute. Oh, this is a really expensive wedding too. How are you having unreliable vendors if this is what you— it's a Georgian manor, miss. You are probably spending a pretty penny. Penny on this wedding. Yeah, they're so unreliable. Oh, it's in the UK. Okay. I mean, the prices are actually like pretty reasonable. It's definitely in the more of the luxury tier, but we're looking at low season dry hire, which means bringing your own caterers, $9,500 for I'm assuming any day. This is the most expensive if you bring your own caterers. If you're using theirs, it's like $5,000 for a Saturday. High season, the highest it's gonna get to is $17,000. That's if you're bringing in your own caterer. $10,500 if you're using theirs. So we're already looking at— I mean, by the numbers that I use in the master plan and in the master planner, if you have not pre-ordered my wedding planning book, this is going to be the best wedding planner physical book that you could be using, because not only does it have all the spreadsheets, all the Q&As, everything that you need to plan your wedding, it also teaches you why you should be making the decisions that you're making so you're not going into this blind. I'm gonna link it right there and down in the description box below. I have a lofty goal of hitting 500 pre-orders before this puppy comes out, so if you can join me in that cause, I'd greatly appreciate it. 10: I will wake up in my drunken state post-wedding and help pack away all wedding items before the Sunday barbecue celebration. Leave property by 5 PM. We didn't need to include so much. Actually, this document didn't need to exist, okay? Didn't need I will always remind the bride and other bridesmaids about keeping their hair and makeup fresh on the wedding day because you never know when or where a camera will be pointing. This is good. I agree with this one. Cool. We got 1 out of 11 so far. The rest have kind of sucked. I will happily tell the bride if she starts obsessing over stupid things that no one else will notice. Hey bride, I'm gonna enact number 12 right now. 7 pounds? What is— what is happening? 13. I will arrive on time to check into the venue and attend the wedding rehearsal/private dinner because it's delicious free food which won't make me unable to fit in my dress the next day, and it's a chance to get to know who else is involved in the special day. This is basic common wedding party etiquette. Like, they're very likely going to show up for it, so don't make it something that they sign and require them. It just gives icky. I will have an idea Of the wedding day timeline which will be provided in advance so that I don't feel silly if people ask me questions about it. No one's asking the wedding party questions. No one. Very few, like, what are we doing next? Everyone knows the wedding party's there just for vibes. I mean, and to be spirit sisters, but only if they have the same jewelry, okay? And only if they've kept it 6 pounds or less. You know, keeping a real tone. Good job, Janet. I see you. Get back on that treadmill, alright? You could lose another 1 or 2. You're not svelte enough. Okay, not quite in that. I will avoid consuming more than 5 units of alcohol at the pre-wedding dinner due to an early morning wedding day prep start. If you are concerned about your wedding party consuming more than 5 units of alcohol, um, yeah, I would think that this is an isolated person or persons that you can have an individual conversation with. If you can't trust the rest of your wedding party to act and behave like adults and you need to monitor this behavior, you got bigger problems. Okay, you got bigger problems. And this could all— this would be so much less serious if it was just said in conversation. I mean, not the weight stuff. The jewelry stuff might be pushing it a little bit, but like this stuff, like, hey, do me a favor, guys. Like, don't drink too much. At least pay attention to the timeline so you know where you're supposed to be and when you're supposed to be there. Like, just some basic courtesy things. But as a reminder, if you haven't been in a wedding before, I'm just going to run these by you just so you know. That's, that's kind. That's intentional. This is horrific. 16. I will keep my bridesmaid's dress on throughout the entire day because I know nude wedding photos will not look good and will piss off the bride. However, shoes can be changed into something more comforting. Are you being cheeky or is this a genuine concern of yours? If this is you being silly, it's— it fell flat. It fell flat. Are you worried about streaking? Do your bridesmaids have a history of streaking? Like one, maybe two of them, but you're going to talk to them about it. But if this is a wedding party-wide concern, Especially if they're looking a little plump. We can't have that all flopping out there. Like, what is wrong with the person who wrote this list? Number 17: I will not attempt to outdo the bride in any way because I value my life. That's so silly. That's so fun. It can be extremely tempting to overmanage your wedding day, to overmanage the details and want to like Overexplain everything to everyone because you really want things to go well and you don't want things to go wrong. I I do get that sentiment, and I think the bride here might be. We're giving her so much benefit benefit of the doubt before we jump into the comments. I because I guarantee you they're not going to. Reddit comments are savage, but like oh my gosh! On this one, it might be warranted. It might be. And is this worse than Gemily? Will you please let me know in the comments? Because I personally think the second you start bringing someone's fertility journey and or weight into the conversation, that just like takes it to an uglier level. But maybe that's just me. I understand the desire. Desire to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible and remove any opportunities for pitfalls or issues to arise. But this is not how we handle that. And in my opinion, this is a strong boundary violation. You have no business, no business making these comments. No business. You tried to make them silly, and it didn't work. You threatened to beat up a newly pregnant woman. If you are going through a circumstance with a wedding party member where you're concerned about their behavior, you're concerned about their hair. You— their weight should not be a concern of yours, okay? Or if it is, that is a private conversation if you are concerned for their health, okay? 3 kilograms isn't really gonna mess with things either direction. If so, if you ever have the audacity to have that conversation with someone, it better be with love and with care, okay? But that is not even on the table for where we're at. That's, that's if someone's life is in danger do we potentially have that conversation, and we are not there. We are not there. This is not that. This is such An inappropriate crossing of boundaries. You have no business to be talking to your wedding party about this at all. What I was saying is, like, if you are dealing with issues with your wedding party and you're concerned with behavior, drinking, hair colors, individual conversations is a whole lot more respectful than the infantilization of everyone in your wedding party because there's a problem child. And please, if you're only listening, I did air quotes, okay? I'm not saying that any of these people, if they break any of these Ridiculous rules are bad. But if you have concerns of people's behavior, etc., go to them directly. Handle this conversation directly. I will down the hill that this is worse than MCOB. Okay, to the comment section. Gaining more than seven pounds may make me look plump. I would frame this document and then never speak to this person again. Why are we framing it? Why not just burn it or just put it in the trash? I'm not framing this. I don't want to remember this. This is not. I want to forget that I'm even filming this video. So bad. My weight fluctuates up and down by 5 pounds regularly, purely based on my hormones. I'm sure taller women have even bigger swings because that's how proportions work. Truly a bonkers red flag. This person said 7 pounds for me is my period coming and I need to poop. Listen, it's not inaccurate. People can fluctuate 5 pounds either direction daily simply due to water retention. Okay, well, don't be drinking water then and we won't have a problem. I see you. See, it's giving that vibe. No one can have unprotected sex 3 months before, not even trying to conceive. Girl, the smart move is to say no unprotected sex for 10 months before the wedding so you don't have to worry about someone going into labor. 3 months or less won't impact your ability to fit into the dress at all. There might even be weight loss due to morning sickness, which was my salvation as I was 21 weeks when I got married and fitted perfectly into a dress I'd bought 12 months earlier. That's never— gosh, that level of nausea is never really a good thing when you start losing weight early pregnancy. It's just miserable when you have that level of sickness. I fortunately have not experienced that, but I know quite a few friends who have. I would go hard on number 12 and not sign this BS. A ban on pregnancy? Insane. This was a while out as well, at least a year, OP says. Oh my gosh, wait, this person said, I got kicked out of a bridal party for being pregnant because the bride didn't want it to be a distraction from her. Needless to say, we aren't friends anymore. No, this is a surefire way to light all of your friendships on fire. Like, this is not— this is not good. This is not how we treat each other. It's not how we treat spirit sisters. Come on. Oh, you don't agree that it will make the groomsmen look lopsided? She would just need to recruit a friend for the groom with a beer belly. She's not wrong. Oh, no. Well, if they're all pregnant, then that prevents the photos from looking lopsided. Arrange them from least to most pregnant. I was almost 12 weeks pregnant at my husband's friend's wedding. Husband was a groomsman. I wasn't a bridesmaid, just regular guests. None of our friends knew at the time. We only told close friends a few weeks later. Bride found out 3 months after when she saw me and my very obvious bump at a mutual friend's engagement party and was furious that I had dared to come to her wedding pregnant. Legitimately accused me of trying to steal her big day despite her not knowing anything about it on the day or even months afterward. Groom didn't seem to understand the problem, which only upset her more and made the whole thing more Farsical? I've never seen that word in my life. Sadly for my husband, the bride kicked off so much that he doesn't really see his friend anymore, which is like a 10-plus-year friendship down the tubes, which I still feel a bit guilty about. You do not need to feel guilty about that at all whatsoever. You don't own this. She's not going to either, but it doesn't mean you have to pick it up. I'd have gotten pregnant just to spite her, and I'm a 58-year-old man. You, sir, are You're a hero. I will not sign this ridiculous document. I will reconsider my friendship with this snotty control freak. This person says, I will treat one or more of the remaining members of the bridal party out to brunch the next day to hear how much of a shit show this wedding turned out. Yeah, where is that? Like, how can you post about this 6 years after the fact and then not have receipts for what the wedding day actually looked like? Okay, where, where's the rest of it? We're dying to know here, man. Unfortunately, the bridal party will be dealing with packing away all the wedding items before the post-wedding Sunday barbecue celebrations and won't be able to make it to brunch. Things like this are always just crazy to me. These are supposed to be your closest friends, family, and loved ones standing up for you, and you're treating them like accessories, not real-life people with real lives. Okay, same with the request to cover or change their hair color, piercings, or tattoos. Again, these are your loved ones. You were supposed to love them. We were married in 2010, and although I love our photos, it's not like we open them regularly. Not that we asked anything ridiculous like that of our bridal parties anyway. I do not like how much this bride is obsessing over other people's bodies. Yeah, as soon as I read the word svelte, I felt physically sick. Bridezilla loves this. Sickness, puking will keep the weight off, spiritual sister. I need Devera Wang to drop in with a well actually. Oh hell no! That's so good. I tapped out after reading plump. I would not be friends with this vapid, shallow beast. I stopped reading at the weight requirement. That's not a friend. You're right, that's not. And to think she could have printed this all on one sheet of paper. What a waste of staples. Yeah, there was 8 of them. She wasted so much paper and staples. She does not care for the Earth, okay? She doesn't care for this planet. This could have been digital. This could have been a DocuSign document. I know DocuSign existed in 2020. How did this person have bridesmaids after this? I literally just gave my bridesmaids a color they could wear whatever shades of and asked them to organize my bachelorette and still felt like that was asking quite a bit. My 7-month pregnant bridesmaid wore heels and cut up the dance floor. It was a blessing to have a pregnant bridesmaid in the photos. Weddings are about celebrating love and life. Agreed. I'd give it back with all spelling and grammatical errors marked, as well as any edits to the contract I may have, just like any other binding contract I'm expected to sign. In red pen, someone says. Maybe even get DocuSign involved. Hey, I said it first. I said it first. Well, technically they commented on this a couple of days ago, but I said it in the video before I saw it. I wonder how much it would cost to hire a contract lawyer for like a couple of hours for the sole purpose of figuratively tearing this document to shreds. For the sake of science, someone needs to do this. I'm not going to, but you should. And then tell me how it goes. This is crazy. Remember how in the contract video that I did recently, like, hey, you should— like, you're allowed to comment on your contracts and like, you redlining them is perfectly normal. Send it back to the vendor if you don't agree with anything. You could do it here too. You could do it too. Or you could also just not sign any contracts with your friends for your wedding. You could also do that. Those— that's an additional choice in case you didn't know that that was on the table. It's like a stewardess employment contract from 1950. Yep. Wouldn't hire anyone with crooked teeth. I'm surprised teeth whitening wasn't included. Yeah, I feel like she missed that. She should have totally added that in. Oh, someone should go back and tell her. WTF did I just read? I feel like number 12 will not go well given the rest of this list. I made it to number 12 before I commented. That's the only one I'd initial and tell her it started with this document. If I had a friend like this, I'd decline, and anyone who asked would be told exactly why. Yeah. A group of friends I know were sent a 38-page PDF document about their wedding duties. I told a mutual friend who was also invited to the wedding That this bride isn't going to have any friends soon. Lo and behold, she was a nightmare on her wedding day and no friends. Okay, but was the document? Well, you said PDF, so it wasn't printed and laminated. So like, maybe not M Cob level. Sorry, Gemily. But at least we're not wasting staples. I'm out. Let me guess, sorority sisters. Op, please dish some more on what you learned about the disaster that unfolded. You can't leave us hanging. What kind of disastrous things happened at the wedding? Are they still married? Spill the tea. Diabolical. OMG, clean your camera lens. Leave my 2020 iPhone 12 out of this. Well, listen, I'm sorry, OP, but we're all thinking it. That was really hard to read. Pretty sure it's the fingerprint smudges on the lenses, right? That's the important bit here. Oh, okay. Today, today, this Reddit post— okay, I like this one. This one's funny. People are good. Her attempts at humor fell flat. Were they at humor though? Were they? I don't know. Hair sample clips. No unsafe sex because Vera Wang doesn't make wedding dresses for preggers. JFC on a bike. Okay. May this kind of friendship never find me. Wow. Just wow. I am too European for this BS. Why wait for number 12 and start now? I would start eating jars of Biscoff spread and shave my head the day before the wedding. She thinks this is cute. I would not sign this. No way. I don't think any of this would, sister friend. Sorry, spirit sister. Dang, now I want to hear the story about the whole bridesmaid experience and the wedding. That contract sounds like she was planning on working the bridesmaids like rented mules. No, no, she just wanted them to work like that beforehand so they didn't become plump. I don't want any fat, fatty, ugly, fat, pregnant, baby maker, fat, fatty, ugly bridesmaids is all I'm seeing right now. Genuinely, who does this chick think she is? I'm pissed off for Fat, fatty, ugly, fat, pregnant, baby maker, fat, fatty, ugly. This is like some Bridget Jones stuff. Because you love me. Okay, bye. Listen, I need more details about how the wedding went. LOL. Listen, okay, I think we all do. I think we all do, friend. Okay, so I think, I think that that's— wait, wait, wait, I got one more comment. As a wedding planner for years turned paralegal, do not sign this. Okay, I don't, I don't think— I think you missed the The description up up above. This was six years ago, and OP is not a bridesmaid or was not a bridesmaid. She took a picture of the bridesmaid's document. Remember the dirty 2020 iPhone 12? She she didn't sign it. She wasn't even a part of the wedding. But I thank you so much for sweeping in to save the day. You really helped us all dodge a bullet in this scenario. Oh my goodness! I needed that laugh, guys. There are ways to have these conversations with your wedding party that do not involve being patronizing. Or stepping over boundaries aplenty. Okay. There are ways that we can have a dream wedding day and talk to those that we might have some slight concerns about, you know, mild to moderate concerns like consumption or behavior at a wedding. Right. We can have those conversations, but treat adults like adults. And if you're worried about them acting a fool at your wedding, maybe don't have them be a part of the wedding party or treat them like an adult. Give them the respect and courtesy of having a direct conversation with them instead of passive-aggressively sending out a 2-page document full of ludicrousness and so fraught with inappropriateness because you can't have a direct conversation with the people that you're actually worried about, or you think this is funny. This is not funny. It's not funny. There are other ways that we can do this. Okay, anyways, um, glad we're not that crazy, right? We would never do that, right? We would never— well, man, we would never do that. Okay, we're not doing that. We're gonna talk to people like adults, like big kids, put on our big kid pants and Talk to anyone you have concerns with. We're not, we're not, certainly not wasting staples. Not in this economy. So that's all we have for today's video, guys. Thank you so much for watching. If you like the video, jump on down there, hit the like button, and subscribe to this channel for more tips and tricks for the modern-day bride. And until next week, bye guys!
