What's the worst thing you've ever seen happen at a wedding? I'll go first. Okay, as a disclaimer before we head into this video at all whatsoever, if you're stressy messy right now, this might not be the video for you. But if you just want to laugh at perhaps misfortunes, then I say let's go for it. Okay?
Okay.
So without further ado, let's just jump right on into it. By the way, my name is Jamie. I'm your online wedding planner. I'm here to help you plan easy and stress less. Okay, let's do this. OP says, my husband and I got married this past Sunday and most of the wedding went well. Unfortunately, reception seating setup was a complete disaster. Oh, I'm sorry that happened. I don't know if that's the worst thing I've ever seen at a wedding. I know it's not the worst thing I've ever seen at a wedding, though. But let's give OP the benefit of the doubt.
Okay? Okay. There is 748 comments on this Reddit thread. Okay.
The venue initially sent us a blank floor plan showing the tables, but none of them were numbered. Since they sent it to me that way, I assumed I was supposed to assign the table numbers myself. I numbered the tables, created the seating chart based on that layout, And sent everything back. Apparently at some point the venue also sent a different version of the floor plan with its own table numbers. I do not want to say they never sent it because it may have been included somewhere in the communication, but I never noticed it since they had already sent me the blank layout. I genuinely believed the table numbering was my responsibility. Otherwise, I don't understand why they did not send the numbered version from the beginning. Yeah, that sounds like one of those things just happen type deals. If something got lost in communication, if the venue is not paying attention or she hasn't submitted her seating chart to the venue yet, like No one knows what the other person is saying. So she creates her numbers, she puts together a seating chart. They have this where things are numbered. I don't know how this happened. This is a really good call for having a wedding planner to help you with this kind of stuff, just as like a second set of eyeballs.
Okay.
Okay. The result was that the table numbers on my seating chart did not correspond the way the venue actually placed the numbered tables. Our closest family and friends ended up sitting on the outskirts of the reception while people we were not nearly as close to were seated directly in front of us. Both sets of parents were seated very far away. They had special entrances where they danced into the reception only to be directed to tables at the edge of the room. It was embarrassing and honestly heartbreaking. Again, on the sliding scale of worst things I've ever seen, not the worst. Is it sad? Of course. But can we recover from this? Yes. And we shall. It's ideally in a scenario if you're planning your wedding, you, which most of you are, you want your family members, especially those closest to you— parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc., depending on the size of your family, of course— as close as possible. So you, the persons of honor tend to sit Really, really close to the couple getting married. The wedding party may sit with them at a head table. They may sit near them at their own designated wedding party table, or they may sit with their plus ones if they have them scattered about through the room. There isn't a hard and fast rule when it comes to wedding party, but generally speaking, we do want family members, especially immediate family members, as close as possible. It is a bit of a faux pas to have them seated a little bit further away. You do you, boo bear. I'm just letting you know that, like, baseline of what we're working with here. Okay? If you put Grandma in the back of the room, she's probably not going to love that. She's probably not gonna love that. So I'm sure this couple ended up hearing things from family members and being like, that's not how I planned it. I'm so sorry. That's not what I wanted. Okay, but that's the standard of like how we, how we list people out for seating charts. Nobody stopped to question whether the setup made sense before the guests entered the room. Yeah, this falls through the cracks. To make matters worse, our supposed high table was not high or elevated at all. It was basically a long conference-style table sitting at the exact same level as every other table. We don't normally see. I think, in fact, I probably have had one or two weddings where the high table was like actually high, like like elevated. Just sorry. We're gonna have a lot of fun with today's video. Let me just let me just say that. All right. And long conference style table that's called a head table or some call it a king's table. That's another way of referring to it where it's your your wedding party all seated in a line and I've never thought of it as a conference-style table, but I don't know if I'm gonna be able to unsee it. Nah, I'll unsee it. We as the bride and groom only noticed how bad the setup was once reception was already underway. By then, moving tables or asking large groups of guests to change seats would have caused even more disruption. I agree. That's one of those things you just gotta— you just gotta let it go. Move on. I am posting this partly because I hope it makes anyone who had something go terribly wrong at their wedding feel a little less alone. I also feel awful about what happened, so please tell me your wedding disaster stories and help me feel a little better. Okay, don't worry. Reddit came through, baby. TLDR: The venue sent me an unnumbered floor plan, so I numbered the tables myself without realizing they had a separate numbered layout. The numbers did not match, and our parents, immediate family, and closest friends ended up seated on the outskirts while less close guests sat nearest us. Our wedding coordinator did not catch it, and our high table was just a conference-style table at the same level as everyone else. So what's the worst thing you've seen happen at a wedding? Well, we cover those here on this channel called Story Times. Okay, so there's been a few of those. Uh, the world's slowest horse, um, and non-existent bartenders, pie plates, pie plates, um, thorns like cactus thorns in a drunk girl's legs thing. It's a good planner.
You're so good.
You're so good. Uh, bride's head into a plate glass window. Uh, lots, lots of things. Lots of things. Paramedics called. Uh, because father of the groom had a little episode, ended up being fine, was able to stay the whole time. Just like we see— we've seen some things.
Okay, okay.
So here's what I'm gonna do. I'm not gonna mention anyone passing, okay? So if there's a comment that goes over that, I'm gonna link the thread as always in the description box below if you want to go take a look at it. But I'm gonna skip anything that mentions anyone passing because we just— we want this to be a lighthearted and more fun video, although we will still touch on some crazy stuff, okay? Second of all, if you didn't know already, I, I wrote a book. I wrote a book. It's called The Master Wedding Planner by me, Jamie Wolfer. It really messes with the light balance when I show this book because it's so beautifully white. It's a white faux leather with like a gold foil. This is your book written by your wedding planning bestie, okay? It's everything that you need to plan your wedding in written form. I'm a pen-to-paper kind of girly, and I love being able to take notes. I love being able to write stuff out. This is a complement to the master plan. It does not replace the master plan. We have a goal here on this channel, and so many of you have already joined me on this, and that is to hit 500 pre-orders before the book goes live December 15th, because pre-orders tell book buyers and publishers that this book has something that is noteworthy. And let me tell you, I have poured my soul into writing this book. I don't recommend necessarily having your manuscript due date, um, 2 weeks after you've given birth. Maybe, maybe next time I would have adjusted that just a little bit. But I will say that this is something I'm very proud to have my name on and cannot wait for it to get into your hands. So if you're interested in pre-ordering, I'll go ahead and link the US Amazon link up here. There are additional links in the description box down below for like Blackwell's and a couple other like I think Indie Books is another one that you'll find in the description box below. But anywhoodles, let's go back to the comments. Okay. Bridesmaid fainted during the ceremony. I almost did that. I almost did that. I've told this story before. I was at a friend's wedding. I was pregnant with my son. This was like 9, 10 years ago. Yeah, 10 years ago, because they just posted about their anniversary and they didn't really feed us. There was like fruit for us to pick at in the morning. And then we went through a drive-thru to get chicken nuggets in the limousine that the bride thought was like the most quintessential cutie little thing. And I totally agreed, except for she only ordered 40 chicken nuggets for, uh, 8 people. And I don't know if you've been pregnant before, but that ain't it. That ain't it. I had like 4. I had like 4, okay?
It's not enough.
Attended one wedding where a guest sang about her love for the groom.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
I also had a wedding where a drunk ex-girlfriend got a hold of the microphone and gave a toast talking about the love story between the couple and how it was good that she broke— that they broke up, her and the groom, so that this love story could flourish.
I want to read a little bit more. We're guessing about her love for the groom.
Gonna need a full story on that one, chief.
What were people's reactions, especially the newlyweds?
Did the singer guest have any self-awareness that they did something wrong afterwards or were completely confident in their choices?
That is wild. Okay, okay, we have the response. Okay.
The singer was the bride's friend. She had too much to drink. The song was from the 90s. Congratulations by a singer named Vesta. Here are some of the lyrics. Congratulations. I thought it would have been me standing here with you. Congratulations. I hope you're happy, because as long as I can breathe, you'll always be the one for me.
Oh, oh, oh. Why was I the last to know?
I thought that we were special. My soul shakes. My heart breaks.
Music notes. After singing a few bars, the DJ cut in and played some music. Someone took the friend out. Bride didn't get upset and people just danced. I'm not sure what possessed her to do that. It happened fairly quickly.
Good.
Edited ad, thanks for the reward. You're so welcome.
Excuse me, she's saying what?
Oh no.
One of my friends had their wedding at a nature conservatory. Gorgeous, we love a little outdoor moment. Beautiful setting, it was in an old but maintained giant log cabin with a dance floor and bar outside overlooking the forest. What could go wrong? Then it started raining caterpillars from the trees above.
They were everywhere. One landed right in my bra as I was waiting for a drink. Cue the DJ playing It's Raining Men. Okay, wait, wait, wait.
How does this happen? This has to be some sort of phenomenon, right? Raining caterpillars at a wedding is cartoonishly funny. I cannot get what— There is no preparation for this. Like, you don't keep umbrellas on hand in case bugs start falling from the sky. Bugs without wings, pre-wings, pre-wing bugs.
Now I can just look back and laugh at the time the couple's trying so hard to get people to go inside and dance, but there was just no way. Do you like stand out there like with a cup, empty cup, trying to catch them?
This could go so many directions.
When you ask for the butterfly release package, when you ask for the butterfly release package, but they weren't quite ready. No, sorry, a word for a long one, folks.
Okay. I toured a nature venue once while the bride and groom were taking pictures. Swarms of ladybugs everywhere, including between every layer of her tulle ball gown. The photographer was trying to brush them off her arms and veil and whatnot between shots and it was futile.
Oh no.
I went to a wedding where we all got attacked by a swarm of bugs. It wasn't even a nature reserve, just a pub in the suburbs. The bathrooms were full of ladies scooping out bugs from their dresses.
I had about 10 in my bra and ended up having to strip down to take the whole thing off to debug. No.
I've had to do that for a couple of bumblebees caught in layers of tulle before, but never this bad. Went to a wedding where children were allowed. Oh no, this is not gonna be a good story for why to allow children at your wedding.
I'm calling it right now. My spidey senses are tingling.
Bride's cousin's toddler ran to the stage and started stomping a merry little song right during the ceremony. Meanwhile, the groom is telling stories about how bad the bride farts.
She looked like she wanted to cry.
Then came the reception where the very irresponsible bartenders allowed people to order CUPS of whiskey, all caps, like straight 6-ounce glasses. And since the photos ran long, no one ate for a good 2 hours, so people were wasted. One of the bridesmaids ended up puking all over the dance floor but then made out with the groom's cousin maybe 15 minutes later in front of everyone. It was a weird time, but sorry to hear about your tables. Bride left bridesmaids' dresses at her house. The wedding was 3 hours away at her parents'. Only remembered the night before the ceremony. Maid of honor who was driving in the next morning had to drive to her house and put her son through a bathroom window to retrieve them. Groom's suit jacket was too small across the shoulders. He didn't try it on until the day of. Guys, guys, guys, guys, guys, guys, guys, please try on your suits, okay? That's why I love Generation Tux and they offer free home try-on. It's not sponsored, okay? It's not sponsored. But if you want to actually try on your suit and make sure you're getting a size that fits, do that. It's free. And then when you get your suit, try it on 2 weeks before your wedding, okay?
Just try it on.
Because then— a fat guy in a little coat. Yeah, we made him switch with a groomsman. Baker delivered a wedding cake decorated with long strands of fake pearls. They couldn't be cut through, so had to come off before serving. They were all under the decorative icing. The cake looked like it exploded by the time anyone got a slice.
Oh no.
Like, it's like the after photo of a smash cake for a kid's first birthday. The last sentence caught me off guard and I choked on my tea.
Listen. All at one wedding? Lordy, the cake made me laugh.
Uh, this person replied, yes, same wedding. We were all at the reception watching them pull strings of pearls off each tier and icing rosettes, and all the little swirly ribbon bits were just flying out onto the table. Nobody said anything.
What are you gonna do? Hey man, Looks like you're having fun.
The dance floor was packed with guests dancing to Shout and just at the quietest part of the song where everyone was crouched low to the ground waiting to jump back up, the DJ cut to another song. First and only time I ever saw a wedding DJ get booed. And rightfully so. Who gave you permission? Could you imagine? And what, what did you transition to, sir? What did you do at that point? Unless it was get low. Actually, that might hit.
Listen, you're getting goofy, Jamie, today. That's all we got. That's all we got. Because this is horrible.
This is what my mother-in-law decided was black tie optional. I really feel like the fringe on the torn denim jacket brings the whole look together. And this is coming from someone who lives in the South now. In Central Texas where I understand that fringe will never go out of style. Ever. It is however definitely not black tie optional. In any stratosphere.
Let's see some replies.
Oh Lord, denim and white, the forbidden combo. Champagne, but still. She said that black tie optional is up to interpretation, yet I had to put the definition on our wedding website. Can you tell she likes me? She wore a ball gown to her daughter's wedding.
Oh no!
Did she get lost on her way to a work picnic?
What the fuck? Wait, wait! Did you put that?
She put the dress code. Okay, Kay, this is not a drill. Is there a dress code? The dress code for our wedding is black tie optional or black tie.
And a definition: What is black tie optional?
We ask that the men wear a tuxedo or a dark suit and tie, and women wear an evening gown or a midi or knee-length cocktail dress.
I feel like that's.
like kind of sort of getting out of black tie optional. I haven't brushed up on this in a long time and I don't do a lot of like attire suggestions so I could be wrong. Please feel free to correct me in the comments. Lord knows you're going to anyways.
Love you.
Mean it.
But she put that down and, and, and, and her mother-in-law still wore that.
That's cute. The bride's dress caught on fire at the reception. I saw it happen and my mom and I were the ones to put it out. Okay. We appreciate your brevity, Bride Girl 813.
Someone says, you were at my wedding? Someone else replies, girl, what?
Do you not understand that their dress also caught on fire by this exchange? Okay, reception dress caught on fire right before our first dance. LOL, I was standing too close to an outdoor heater. My maid of honor caught it and her and one of my coordinators were able to use safety pins to pin it up so you couldn't even tell. It looks— it's the same.
It's the same.
Some might use this as an argument for why having a second dress is a great idea.
It's great, right?
Because if you burn the original, then you, you'd have to safety pin that one.
I'm on one today. Okay.
Both the mother of the groom and the groom had a severe nut allergy. Oh no. So they planned to have a nut-free wedding. Got to reception and noticed the charcuterie board was covered in nuts.
Cute.
The mother of the groom was served an appetizer that contained nuts and ate it. Glorious. She had to go use her EpiPen, go to the emergency room, and miss nearly the entire reception. We had this happen once. We had this happen once, and I— oh, this was at a hotel and drove me crazy because the couple was like unbelievably sweet. I just— oh, I just love this couple so very much. Really laid back, easygoing, really wise with their budget. I was coming in as day of coordinator for them on this one, and the The venue coordinator through the hotel was obnoxious, and you could tell she was the type of person who created like circumstances that she could be the victim of constantly. Oh yeah, we just got deep here for a second. Um, and she inherited a couple of events and wasn't managing this particular event really well. The bride's mom has celiac, and we needed to make very, very sure that she did not have even a whisper of gluten in her meal. This is not like, oh, I prefer to be gluten-free, or I'm gluten intolerant. This is very serious. This is a whole new level of Please do not get gluten anywhere near my food. It needs to be prepared separately. So dinner comes around and the bride's mom gets served her meal and it's not the meal she requested. And so I'm running around trying to find the venue coordinator. She wasn't quite the event captain. We had one of those. She was the person above the event captain. Spoke with the event captain. He said, I don't know what you're talking about. And I was like, cool, we're off to a fantastic start. Finally locate the venue coordinator. She might have been the venue manager. Doesn't matter. Does not matter. And I say, hey, The mom was served something that she didn't order. We need another plate. We can't figure out another plate. There's issues with the event captain. He doesn't know what's going on, so I'm coming to you directly. You were told she has celiac. What's going on? After an additional 20 minutes of running around— this is about 40 minutes total for those of you who are following the bouncing ball of mathematics that are going on in this— we found out that the entire meal, everyone's meal, it was all gluten-free. It was all celiac safe. They just never told the bride. And so the mom got to eat a meal that she didn't request 45 minutes later because it took a few minutes to go and tell her that information. This was also the wedding where they started busing the tables during the toasts and the groom had to say, hey, can you stop doing that during his toast?
So yeah.
I was a maid of honor in a wedding where the bride's parents announced their divorce during the toasts.
Oh no, that's morbid.
This year I saw people drop the chair in a Jewish hooting and hollering dance.
Let's take that back one more time. Okay, this year I saw some people drop the chair in a Jewish hooting and hollering dance where the couple is put up on chairs.
The groom had to leave to get stitches. That's horrible. I'm so sorry. I guess it's all relative, but I'd be thrilled if seating chart snafu was the terribly wrong thing that happened at my wedding.
I— I gotta see the comments on this one. I've never seen the hora called a Jewish or hootin' and hollerin' dance, but I love it. Gosh, I hope that wasn't disrespectful. I loved it too.
It was a lot of hooting.
It paints a glorious mental picture of the horror to me.
Delightfully charming, not disrespectful in my honest opinion.
It was a lot of hooting. Okay.
Wedding photographer here, 13 years experience, hundreds upon hundreds of weddings under my belt. Please believe me, this isn't as bad as it feels. Oh, she's got a list of things.
Okay.
Buckle up. I've seen not one but 4 heart attacks mid-speech or dance or dinner. 2 of them were fathers of the bride. Oh, that's really sad. I've seen essential vendors not show up at all due to schedule mistakes or double bookings. Get cancellation insurance.
Right here!
I've seen brides so drunk they will never remember their day and/or missed most of the evening because they were passed out. I actually don't think that's happened with any of our couples. Uh, at all, ever. I've seen groups so badly injured they needed an ER visit during dinner only to return bandaged and ready to dance the night away. You got married. People you love were there. It was a success. Enjoy it. That's life.
Life's rough. Get a helmet. Okay.
Wow, I was reading this forever and thought nothing went wrong at my wedding, except I totally forgot that one of the groomsmen was only there for the ceremony because his wife went into way too early labor and he had to go to the hospital. They'd flown in for the wedding too, so we were in an entirely unknown city. Fortunately, all was fine. Baby stayed in and was born on time and is now about to start second grade. The main reason I forgot was because the memory of him popping out of an Uber seconds before the ceremony started because his wife said he couldn't miss our ceremony was one of my favorite memories of the day. That sacrifice from him and his wife because my husband means so much to him was so beautiful. He hopped back in an Uber and went back to the hospital immediately after our 20-minute ceremony. That is— that is— that's very sweet. I don't know if I would have done the same, to be totally honest. I don't know if I would. I guess it's a game time decision kind of thing. We got married 2 weeks ago and my cousin passed out and hit her head during dinner at the reception. We called the ambulance and she had to go to the ER and get 10 stitches. She's okay now. Okay, great. Other notable events from other weddings. One, best man made a speech involving what?
I don't think we can show that. Gear in front of the bride and groom's family. Two, blank and Jell-O shots.
Snow and Jell-O shots in the bathroom at a state park reception.
What?
What kind of weddings are you going to? 2 people threw up from drinking too much due to lack of food at the cocktail hour and the plated meal. Bride still denies this was an issue because she got a tray piled high of apps and 2 plated dinners. Well, not everyone else did though, obviously. Brother of the bride got into a fistfight with mother of the bride's new boyfriend.
Cute.
We've only had one of those. DJ refused to play requests, exclusively played classic rock at a wedding of 20-somethings in 2022 despite even the bride requesting it. Black flies at the ceremony. Yeah, this is a real thing. Like, if you are having food set out and you're having an outdoor event, you really, really, really need to be aware of ants, of any flying insects. Um, there was a wedding we went to once that had mosquito nets very artfully draped from a, like, a tree limb over the cake so no bugs could get to it. And so when it came time for the cake cutting, it was like Pulled back and it looked really nice, and then they cut the cake and it was taken away. You also want to make sure it's not outside for too long in the heat. But yeah, flies, insects can be a huge problem for your food outside, and nobody really wants to eat— nobody really wants to eat that. One of the wedding party members showed up with COVID and got another 7 people sick. That's cute. No, it's not. No, it's not. Get cancellation insurance because it covers COVID. If you or someone close to you gets COVID in or around your wedding day and you need to reschedule because of it, Okay, people in charge of the shuttle buses got too drunk to coordinate and a bunch of people got stranded at the venue, which was a field in the middle of nowhere with no available Ubers/Lyfts nearby. This is why I hate shuttles, okay? I hate them. I hate them. I understand that we're trying to coordinate things and we're trying to make things nice for the guests. Uh, maybe don't put guests in charge of the shuttles, okay? Maybe put someone who's paid to be there, like a planner or a coordinator or something. Someone who's You know, can be trusted to be sober.
Eh, okay.
2 things come to mind. At one wedding, the mother of the bride read a poem she wrote about how long it took the groom to propose and how she and her husband and the bride had been anxious for at least 3 years that he would never marry her.
No, no. But don't worry, it's a poem, so it's more fun.
At another, a girl went to the podium to do a reading. While in view of the whole congregation, her Spanx rolled up and formed what looked like an inner tube under her fitted dress.
She knew, we knew, she knew we knew, but there was nothing she could do but finish the reading. Oh no, sweet friend.
These happened at different weddings. In the middle of the ceremony, the bride was handed the microphone so she could sing to the groom.
Mm-hmm.
She was not a particularly strong singer to begin with, but adding wedding day nerves and a backup tape, the result was not good. Third, that was 35 years ago. I still have secondhand embarrassment. The bridesmaids' bouquets contained lit candles.
Why?
Why? Why? During the recessional, a bridesmaid turned her head the wrong way and her hair caught fire. She slapped her head to put the fire out and kept walking. That is a girl's girl. Right there. Why are there candles in your bookcase? The bride's stepmother had a meltdown and started screaming in the maid of honor's face. The bride's father dragged her away. They missed the reception. Well, stinks to be them. My eight-month-old baby was invited to a wedding ceremony alongside my husband and I.
I love your phrasing on this. It's so so random.
And the rabbi asked for a moment of silence for the groom's recently departed grandfather. My daughter screamed da da da da da da during the entire moment of silence, so loud it echoed off the synagogue ceiling.
What do you do?
I mean, honestly, as a parent at that point, like you try to kind of COVID their mouth and leave the room real quickly. But like, is that going to draw more attention to yourself? Or what do we do? This in this moment, this is where I hope the rabbi would go.
Yeah.
Okay, let's go ahead and try that again as the mom is exiting. Okay, this is where it's a game day decision. Okay, we're moving, we're rolling, we're shaking, we're trying something different because that poor mom is mortified. At my own wedding, I forgot every single piece of jewelry I planned on wearing that day. I had to borrow a necklace from my mom, earrings from my mother-in-law, and ended up being kind of cute wearing pieces from them both, but in the moment it felt crazy. I also drove to the wrong hotel to get ready on the morning of the wedding. It was a chain with locations on 2 sides of town and I put the wrong one into GPS. I mean, if these are the worst things that happen on your wedding day, I'll take it. I will take it. Okay, better than the Spanx, you know what I'm saying? There was no AC in the church, so a groomsman and the junior bridesmaid both passed out during the ceremony. Again with the passing out. This is like a trend.
Please feed people.
I'm like, give them air conditioning and/or fans.
Thanks.
The bride didn't tell the wedding party what time to be at the reception, so they showed up literally a minute before the grand entrance. 4 of them carpooled and went home to let out their dog. Okay, how do you circumvent this? You go over the schedule of the wedding day the night before at the rehearsal. You can send out the timeline to everyone. I prefer to do this like a week or 2 in advance. Sometimes they'll look at it, and by they I mean bridesmaids, but groomsmen probably won't even give it a second glance. So this is why when I have all their attention at the rehearsal, I will go over it with them then, and I will only give them details of like Here's when you need to be here. Okay? You don't need to run through the entire timeline. This is actually why I prefer using perfectweddingtimeline.com. I'll link it right here because you can pull out a separate timeline just for wedding party and family members. So they don't need to know when the caterer arrives or when the florist arrives. It's just be here at this time, get ready to walk down at this time, be here at this time, get ready to walk out for the grand entrance at this time. Super clean, really easy to understand. You can also send links with pins for locations where people need to go. So you and your wedding party are not going to find themselves at the wrong hotel. There's just so much packed into the software that you're not going to find on AI.
Okay? Because it's actually written by professionals.
Plated dinner was not coordinated with seating, so the waiters had to go table to table asking what everyone wanted. Like a freaking restaurant, man. Dinner was served almost 2 hours late. The bride and groom finished eating 45 minutes before the last table got their food. Tower of pot noodles for evening meal. And bridesmaids taking cans of beer down the aisle instead of bouquets. But honestly, this reply goes, kind of iconic, to be honest. Haha, it was pretty funny and certainly kept the insane cost down. And, you know, better than a candle. And you have a refreshingly cold beverage to take a sip of if you feel like you're gonna pass out. And we're not giving them unlimited beers, we're just giving them one. Now my question is, are they allowed to drink it while they're standing up there, or do they have to hold on to it all the way through photos? Is each bridesmaid assigned a specific type of beer? Is it all the same kind of beer for a more, um, monochromatic look, or to really make sure that we're honing in on the theme here? We don't want too many chaotic colors. Was it cans?
Did you say cans?
You did say cans. Okay, that's good. That's good. We can recycle those later. We can recycle those. Do you feel like glass would have a like a slightly more elevated feel to it?
I don't know.
So if you're thinking about replicating this, maybe go for a glass bottle. Okay, maybe go for a glass bottle because I just think it's a little classier. My family isn't white trash, but at weddings we are.
Parents' wedding.
2 grandfathers got into a fistfight in the middle of the reception hall. Aunt who was a cop split up the fight. Fight was over, one had bought the booze, the other who hadn't bought the booze was taking bottles of that alcohol out in boxes to his car to take home halfway through the reception. Well, that's, that's not, that's not classy. That's not classy. Aunt's wedding. She had a crush on my dad since she was a teenager. I was flower girl at the wedding. When it came to the I dos, she said, I do my dad's name, then fainted to the ground for the next half hour. My parents are still married, aunt and uncle still married, she's still in love with my dad.
I get married in less than a year. Ow. That's like out of a rom-com but like not a good one.
You gotta give the white trash energy a safe outlet. Add cornhole boards, put someone in charge of keeping your aunt away from your dad, and maybe consider low ABV drinks.
I love that they're like, safe outlet, cornhole.
Babes, I say this with love but your family is white trash.
Okay.
Some things that happened at my wedding in June. 1, got a foot-long streak of chicken poop all up my wedding dress before the ceremony.
That's so me-coded, it's not even funny. But also, how?
My dad's speech was focused entirely on the graphic details of my birth. Having done that a few times, um, no thanks. My poor mother, who he is divorced from, had her face in her hands for the entirety of the speech. You know, also same. Horrible ear-splitting feedback from the microphones during speeches. Had to just cut the mics and the last 2 people just had to yell their speeches. Not a big deal. Not a big deal. And then lastly, forgot to grab my bouquet back from my maid of honor for the walk back down the aisle. I mean, there's the chicken poop's not great. This is why having a coordinator on hand with something like Folex to get that out is a great idea. It's a great idea. Okay. Your dad, I got, I got nothing for him. The feedback, you did what you needed to do. Okay.
You cut it. You cut it.
And the bouquet. I'm not worried about that.
Okay.
Okay, and then we're gonna wrap it up with this one. The pastor kept calling the groom Patrick. The groom's name was Fiete.
I don't even know. I don't even know if I'm pronouncing that correctly, but honestly, maybe the officiant didn't know how to say Fiete or Fiat. Fiat.
So he's like, "You're gonna be Patrick from here on out." Okay, that's who you are. That's your nickname for the next thirty minutes, amigo.
Patrick. Fit.
Wow. Wow. Um, which one was your favorite?
I don't know. I don't know. Maybe babes, your family is white trash. That's up there for me. My 8-month-old baby was invited to the wedding and so was my husband and I. No, there's gotta be more. There's gotta be more. But sorry about your tables though.
