Jamie Wolfer calls out a wedding website rule that makes guests request plus-ones and get judged on whether they "deserve" one. He says the wording is controlling, creates unnecessary work, and treats adult guests like potential rule-breakers.

Plus ones are discouraged due to the size of the bride's family. However, if you would like to add someone to your invitation, please let the bride/groom know with your party's headcount. We'll decide if you deserve a plus one or not and if you're worth paying for an extra person. Don't do this. Don't do this. This is giving the same vibes as like A-list versus B-list when it comes to guest lists, and I don't like it. This bride is just making way more work for herself. Exactly this. Don't make rules, provide information. Yes. You're the a-hole. This is way too much information. And personally, I think this comes across as bossy and controlling. It's like not letting adults be adults. And kind of assuming and controlling their behavior or assuming that they will behave the worst or break the biggest social faux pas that you can break at a wedding and then needing to make that about rules for your event.
