Zaakirah Muhammad and partner organizations held a World Sight Day eye-health fair at Awali Den Hospital in Kwale County, Kenya, offering free eye exams, affordable glasses, and blindness prevention education. The collaborative effort between doctors, NGOs, and optometrists began after Muhammad arrived in November 2024 and has now operated for almost a year.
Hello, Kenebu. I am Zakira. I am the media ambassador for Wally Den. Majina naitwa lina Joseph Kakube. Na twoka ka tikaxituka naitwa Seko. Since I have arrived to Kenya for the first time since November 2024, I knew that this was something that needed to happen. And here we are almost one year later making it happen with Kwale Asanta, Good Vision Kenya, Know the Glow Kenya, and Raymond from Vision Kenya Nairobi.
To provide basic eye care, basic eye care and permanent affordable eyeglasses to all the Kenyans.
So we are here at Awali Den Hospital doing a World Sight Day eye health fair. The eye health fair is in honor of the global World Blindness Month awareness, and it is also the first time that a lot of people are getting a top insurance now. So I figured it's very important that Other doctors and NGOs and optometrists come together to support the community to make sure that they can have their eyes checked, get glasses so they are no longer struggling, and prevent blindness.
So keep up your vision, keep up impacting, transforming lives. Thank you for the invite. From South Africa to the world, we love you.
