From Rock Bottom to Alignment – Ribhu’s Journey Through The PATH

A first-person interview where client 'Ribhu' recounts falling into a low point (Sept 2023), seeking out life coaching with Zarak Fatah, and undergoing a transformational program. Core work focused on confronting past relational trauma, learning 'energetics' and daily self-regulation tools, which led to repaired relationships, clearer values, improved business decisions and substantial financial and personal ROI by early 2025. The conversation also highlights the social support (retreats, peer group) and advice for choosing a resonant coach and committing fully to the work.
Chapters
Let's take it back to September 2023.
Yeah.
Where were you? What was going on? What's happening in your life at that time?
Yeah, definitely an interesting part of my life. You know, we just moved three times in, like a year and a half. Quit my job to start a business. So many things were happening, and I didn't have tools to cope with it. And I put myself back into a situation in the city where it just, you know, it was like the perfect storm where, you know, there were things and behaviors that I started to adopt that wasn't me. Me trying to be somebody who I was not, and me just feeling almost at a complete rock bottom, you know, chasing money that wasn't happening. Chasing, you know, endorphins that were not good for me, and just overall, you know, in a tough space and searching for something more. I remember seeing your posts reaching out, and I couldn't really put into words what I needed, but I knew I needed something.
Because you'd never worked with a coach before?
No, to be honest, I didn't really know what a coach was. I mean, you know, I was brand new to this world. I knew nothing, but I knew I needed change. I knew. I felt that I needed change. I knew what I was doing wasn't working, and I was waking up feeling like crap every day. The results weren't coming in any aspects of my life, really, and I felt like I was just, you know, beating my head against the wall. And I don't know, I just, you know, some of the content you put out, you know, it called to me, and here we are.
Here we are. Yeah, it's been. It's been a journey. Yeah, it's been a year, so. Yeah. You know, I just want to share a little bit about your journey with anybody who might be watching because, you know, a lot of people going through challenges, you know, a lot of obviously crazy stuff going on in the world, and, you know, many people don't know that there's another way, and they also are afraid to reach out. Right. So, you know, thankfully, we have our mutual friend, so I think there was somewhat of a comfort level for you to reach out based on our mutual friend. And, you know, you hit me up. We. We set up that call. And you had no idea what was going on?
I didn't know what I was saying.
We were very new to it, you know, and. And I think that's also what intimidates a lot of guys, kind of holds them back from getting into it, is what the hell is a coach why am I paying you? Like, what? Wait, I'm gonna pay you? How much? What am I getting? You know, because it's. If you've never done it before, now you're hiring athletic coach. You get it. Okay. I'm doing the reps, I'm doing the training. There's a structure, and this is what I'm gonna. There's some metrics. Right. But with life coaching, it's like, sure. Like, you're kind of stepping in. Like, I don't know what the hell is gonna happen here. So. So, you know, just share a little bit about what was the journey like working together.
Yeah. So when I reached out, one of the things that really appealed to me was the fact that you had lived a real life success, successful business life and all these things. And, you know, the engineer, entrepreneur, finance brain in me was very much like, okay, he's gonna help me achieve business success. So I remember that first time we met, when we met in person, it was the one hotel, I believe. You know, we had coffee, and that's when I started to really understand what this whole process was gonna look like. When he started to bring up different topics and stuff, and I'm like, oh, okay, so. So this is what this is about.
Yeah, that's why you mentioned that. Because a lot of times people come to me like, yeah, you know, I want to. I want to make more money, I want better relationship with my wife, or, you know, I'm on lose £20. And there's like this one or two things that they think they want to work on, but once they get into it, they're like, holy shit. Yeah. There's all this other stuff going on that you kind of neglect and you push down. Then as you get into the work, it's like you pull back the layers, like, oh, okay, yeah.
So, I mean, you had the modules built out. I remember, you know, long days. At end of the day, I be doing all these modules on energetics and all these things, and I'm like, I don't know what I'm doing this for. I. You know, going through the process, learning the different tools and different mechanisms and stuff like that, and it brought up so many things in my past that I had to deal with that, you know, a program that I thought was going to focus on business growth. I don't think we talked about business for maybe the first two, three months, and it was complete. So initially I was like, eh, what's going on? And then just some of the steps that we took within those first 30 to 60 days continue to be transformational to this day. Some of the tough conversations that I had, some of the baggage that I realized that I was holding onto that was influencing my decisions, not only in business, but in life, my health decisions, pretty much everything. Then, you know, when we came out of that period, like, everything, the rest of the results started to follow. And, you know, at that time, too, because I was so new to this world, if somebody asked me why, I was like, I don't know, man. But just following those steps every day and just learning more every day, it's been incredible journey.
Yeah. Thank you. And, you know, and I acknowledge you for having the courage and willingness to walk down this path without kind of seeing what's at the end of it. Because a lot of guys, you know, we get in our head and we need to figure everything out, and we need all the answers. We need all the signs and the blueprint to tell us. But in coaching, look, when we begin our journey together, I didn't know what was going to come up. I didn't know what you were dealing with. And you didn't even know what you deal with because, again, a lot of those experiences from childhood, a lot of the past pain and trauma and all the bullshit that we kind of try to forget about, it's in the background running that, you know, sabotaging program. And until you deal with that, is going to continue to influence your life. Right. And that's why we don't talk about business at work, because. Can I teach you how to scale your business? Of course. Can I teach you, you know, strategies and all that? Sure. But you're just going to be doing more of the same with that old mindset, you know, so it's when you get in there and you understand what all the limiting beliefs are, what is some of what motivates the behavior that is actually sabotaging you. When you can get to that originating incident and identify what it is that happened that created those beliefs, and you can unpack that, you know, heal that and move on, then those behaviors are gone. And then you start making different choices. And over time, those choices compound. And that six months later, a year later, it's like, whoa, your life is in a different place. Right. And then that's why here we are now, a year and a half later, and there's been a lot that's transformed. So what would you say, like, some of the biggest takeaways were during the coaching, you know, that's really made a big difference in your life?
Yeah. So a Couple key takeaways. First was the impact of having healthy relationships in your life and confronting past traumas related to those relationships. And I think a big focus early on in our coaching was, you know, it was a huge focus on strengthening relationships with me and certain members of my family. You know, having tough conversations about things that I held in for a very long time. And, you know, once I was able to deal with that and those relationships were repaired, it just allowed me to operate from this, this level of freedom and happiness and just lightness that, you know, everything else became very easy because I didn't have this weight over my shoulder all the time. The second thing that really stood out to me in the coaching was, you know, the whole concept of energetics. It's something that, you know, didn't make sense to me at the time. Grew up in the Caribbean, engineering background, jumped into finance very much like two plus two equals four and like, you know, very, very black and white. And the concept of energetics, you know, really jumped into now and really fall behind. At first it was just because it was part of the module. And now just seeing, you know, how it makes you feel on a daily basis, the kind of opportunities that do come up, whether I want to accept it or not, and just, you know, the reality of the matter is focusing on energy and your energetics. It was game changing for me. Yeah, business, life, health, all aspects.
And to your point about, you know, the confronting the, the trauma or the, you know, issues from the past and energetics is totally intertwined because if you're feeling anger, frustration, resentment to your parents, to your partner, you know, for anything that happened in the past, any of that guilt or that shame, any of those low vibration emotions are going to impact your ability to thrive in life, whether it be great health, whether it be attracting new business opportunities, more money, you know, just being, you know, more loving, it all plays a part. And the thing is, you know, we have things that happen to us in our childhood and it develops a belief that we just carry with us and we don't even realize we're carrying 500 pounds on our back until it's taken off. And then when it's taken off, it's like, whoa, like, I feel so much lighter, like this life becomes so much easier, you know, so. And, you know, you obviously did a great job with diving in on all of that. And, you know, here we are, it's at the moment almost February 2025. And what would you say has shifted, like from where you were then to where you are? Now, like, what's this new year looking like for you?
I think if I compare now to when we first started, I think every aspect of my life looks completely different, but for the better. And I think the biggest reason for that is, you know, I do feel equipped with this set of tools to handle different situations where shit still gets stressful, business still gets stressful, but how I deal with it, how I bounce back from tough things is very, very different. And I think that the difference is that instead of just dealing with it, I can accept it, understand the lesson from it, and move on even stronger.
It's huge.
You know, my days have gotten more stressful in the conventional sense in terms of, you know, business responsibilities, family responsibilities, etc. Yet I think my capacity for that stress and my ability to just enjoy the process has completely transformed where I could just take on so much more every day and I enjoy doing it. And, you know, you could pinpoint very quickly what serves you and what doesn't serve you. And it gives you a sense of clarity that, you know, I didn't think existed until going through this work.
Yeah, yeah. And you definitely know yourself on a deeper level now, so it's easier for you to navigate, make choices because you know your values and you know your future vision. You know, you understand what it feels like to be out of alignment. So, you know, choosing to stay in the work and choosing to continue to show up as your highest self.
Yeah.
You know, you, you've experienced what that's like now once you get a taste for it, it's like you ain't never going back to the old way because you realize I could like hustle, grind, and do all the things necessary but take so much more energy.
Yeah. And I mean, I mean, we've talked. There's been a couple instances where I have, you know, kind of gone back into some old habits. But the ability to bounce back but also feel like, okay, that doesn't feel good, like it's, it's not a spiral anymore. It's like, okay, you know what? That happened. All right, let's move on. And, and, and the bounce back was so much quicker. Yeah. And then it doesn't happen again because now you know what it feels to be on the other side.
Exactly.
Yeah.
And I think that's the thing. Most people, they don't have the tools or they don't even have the awareness of how good things can be and how to self regulate and how to do the things, whether it be breath work or journaling or conscious communication or Any of these tools and modalities that when you do fall off, you know how to course correct and get back on track. And that's what it is, you know, because the truth is, as humans, we're going to fall off. We're going to up from time to time. You know, it's like we're not, we're not perfect.
Yeah.
The truth is like, you know, can you, can you have that awareness to spot. Oh, I'm slipping. I know what to do to get back in there, you know, because it's, that's a journey we're always going to, we're always going to fall off. But the better we get at it, the less time we spend in that, like in the lower vibration.
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
So with, you know, I was like, say that with the coaching, you know, you're not just doing it for yourself, you're doing it for, you know, all those people in your life. So how would you say the coaching and who you've become and what you've learned has impacted the other people in your life?
So coaching has definitely impacted everybody close to me, you know, from my wife to my sister to my dad, to other members of my family as well. The energy that I think I can bring to them now, I guess the energy I know I can bring to them now is completely different a few years ago. And you know, the different, the key difference is a few years ago, hustling, grinding, working hard, all these things had me in this state of like I was this Persona, you know, this, this all or nothing guy, black and white. But then I couldn't shut that off at home. And you know, I think a lot of my relationships suffered because of that. I mean, I'm lucky. I was surrounded by people who loved me. So it wasn't like anything too dramatic. But you know, being able to show up as, as my, my highest self for them has been tremendously rewarding. And you can see the energy they take, you know, they take from that, from me. One thing that really stood out to me, you know, after all of this when I had gone back to Trinidad and you know, a lot of my joke, like, you know me, I, I, I smile all the time, like I don't take anything seriously, but I was taking things too seriously for too long. But now back to my, my true self. I went back to Trinidad and one of my aunts, when I went, you know, hammock, nice breeze, everything, and she went in. I don't know why, but you remember you remind me of young Ribu again, you're just laughing like when you used to come spend the night by us, you know, when you guys are growing up. And that. That stood out to me because, you know, that that is who I am. Just that happy. Go, lucky guy. Don't take anything too seriously. Work hard, but don't take myself so seriously. And. And I think it's transcended every relationship where people can feel happy around me, feel comfortable around me. Love that. And, you know, it's. It's made me enjoy life a lot more as well.
Yeah. Yeah, that's it. And just getting back to your most authentic self, you know, peeling back the layers, letting go of the. That has. You believe you're anything less worthy than you are.
Yeah.
You know that because that. That new level of clarity and confidence, you bring that into everything you do. And. And you also give other people the permission to show up in the same way, you know, through the coaching, through the programs and the retreats that we've done together. You've met some interesting brothers.
Yes.
We've had some good times.
Yes, yes.
So, you know, what would you have to say about the men you've connected with through the work? Yeah.
The group of guys that you've connected is unreal. Definitely brothers for life. Super heavy hitters in their own rights as well, in all their fields. You know, guys who really, really care for their families. They're. They're inspirational, they're strong, they're smart and everything. And it's very. It was very cool for me, especially the first retreat that we did together, to kind of see that vulnerability and realize how much that, you know, everybody has their own fight and that, you know, this was a group of guys who not. They don't just know they have their fight and stop there, but they're willing to work on it and be their best selves for families. You know, there's guys ahead of me in business, ahead of me in terms of kids and all of these different aspects of life. And it's been super inspirational as well, to be around these guys who are willing to fight so hard. Very motivational. And I mean, we always have a good time when we're together, so. That helps. That helps. It's a cool group of guys, too. Yeah.
Yeah. It's amazing because it's kind of a motley crew. It's a very random mix of guys from different ages, backgrounds, whatever, you know, but they all come together, and I think the common thread is just wanting to show up as our higher self, wanting to do this work of just what is there for me to transform, what is there for me to improve upon, you know, and, yeah, I'm blessed and grateful to have you and the rest of the guys, you know, your trust and great support as we do this work team together. For anybody who might be watching this, who may be questioning, working with a coach or potentially working with me, who. What message would you have for someone who, let's say, because, you know, you're. You're a pretty intuitive person and you're not afraid to take chances, you know, you. You knew there was something you needed to do and said, you know what? I'm. I'm going to try this. I'm going to go in. Not everybody's like you. Some people need the data, they need the stats, they need all the whatever. So for someone who may be watching this, who's thinking of potentially hiring a coach, what. What message would you have for them to help them to make their choice?
Yeah. So I think there's two key things, is one, be clear on what you're doing this for and just have an idea of what you want to get out of it. Because I think that that was, you know, I wanted to be happier. That was it for me. And reminding myself of that every time, you know, I didn't want to do the modules and do all these things especially inspired me to jump all in. Because I think if you don't jump all into a program like this, it's not going to make a difference. And, you know, I've seen people kind of do it halfway and. And I don't think that works. And I think jumping all in is what made it work for me. But I always had that in my mind, like, I want to do this to be happier in life. And then the second thing is, you know, pick a coach that resonates with you.
Yeah.
There was a lot about your story that resonated with me, and I think, you know, that inherent respect, it's like, even if you said something and I was like, huh? I knew that there had to be a reason behind it because, I mean, you had your own success. You wouldn't be doing this if it didn't make sense. Exactly. And I think having that extra little insurance policy by having somebody you also resonate with will help because there's going to be a lot of new stuff along the way.
For sure.
Yeah.
Because as you know, you know, working with a coach, you get very deep, very personal.
Yeah.
And you want to make sure that there's that relatability and there's that trust and confidence that this person really sees you, understands you, Right?
Yeah, for sure.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's great. Great advice for someone. And you know, we'll end this by. And we don't get into the numbers of it all, but, you know, a lot of times people are like, what's the roi? What am I going to get from this? So, you know, I'm proud to say a lot of my clients double or triple their income by way of, not through business coaching, but just by way of becoming a better version of themselves. Everything exponentially grows. So would you say that the coaching that you've invested into, you have, you're happy with your roi?
Yeah, the ROI has been tremendous. I think, you know, the amount that I'm making now versus when I got into the program is I. I can't believe it. And I think that, you know, key part, people ask me why? What are the specifics? And just, you know, the kind of clarity you can operate with to help make those decisions on not only what to do day to day Bone, but what to do high level. Like, I've made some big shifts in my business, big shifts in my day to day, and it's been based on clarity and vision and all these things that we were confident.
I'd say too, I'm confident you have in who you are.
Sure.
And knowing what you stand for and what you want to create, I think it's really played a part in the choices you've made.
Sure, yeah, 100%. And then that really allowed me to focus in on my highest use of time, what I enjoy the most. And you know, the results has been financial as well. Where, you know, now my niche that I've niched down into has been working very well for me. People trust me because they can also see that I'm passionate about it, that I enjoy it and that I'm out to help as well. Yeah. Which is very cool. I enjoy it. Which is a lot of fun.
And you touched on something that I just want to, you know, end this with that. I think most people undervalue is you trust yourself. And because you trust yourself, because you've done this work, you know who you are, that trust, that safety can be felt in your clients, with your wife, with the people that interact with you. And when you trust yourself and people can feel that, like things happen quickly. Yeah, yeah.
It's been great, man.
Cool. Well, we still got a long way to go. I'm just getting, I wouldn't say we're just getting started, but we're in it. It's time for the next level.
Levels? Yeah, levels.
Levels. Yeah. Okay, thanks.
