Most Muslims Are Not Ready For The Day Of Judgement

Eyoub and Speaker A discuss the Day of Judgment, describing its 50,000-year length and terrifying conditions, then explain seven categories of people who will find shade under Allah's Throne: a just ruler, a youth devoted to worship, someone whose heart is attached to the mosque, two believers who love each other for Allah's sake, someone who resists sexual temptation, a secret giver of charity, and a solitary worshipper. The speakers emphasize sincere intention over reputation.

And that's just the Day of Judgment. That's not even Jahannam.

Bad people?
No.
Is the Day of Judgment difficult for everyone?
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala is just and he's merciful, but—
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Welcome to a new episode. In today's episode, we're speaking about a day, a very, very specific day, the day that we all know will happen The day that we're all afraid of, the Day of Judgment.
Subhanallah, the Day of Judgment, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala calls it Yawm ad-Deen in Surah Al-Fatiha. What does the Deen mean? Like, we think religion, right? It's not the day of religion. Deen, dayeen, which dayeen means loan, it comes from the same root word, meaning that you will get back. Dayeen When you talk about a loan, it's something you want to get back. Yawm ad-Deen is the day you will be compensated for what you did. In this dunya, people get away with stuff. You know, in dunya, somebody could be a murderer, somebody could be a bank robber, somebody could be Epstein kind of a guy, and you think, oh, in dunya, he lived it up, and then he got away with it, right? He didn't get caught. Some people, you know, it's a mystery still. Nobody knows who— this guy was that jumped off a plane with $1 million. But no matter what, even if you are a tyrant, oppressive murderer, right? If you're the people who are conducting genocides in Gaza, whatever, and you think they're getting away with it, they will never get away with it because there is Yawm al-Deen, the day that Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala will give justice to everybody. So if you wronged somebody, Allah will make it just between you. If you disobeyed Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, if you did shirk, if you did kufr, even if you lived 100 years of enjoyment and living it up, but in the end it's nothing because the Day of Judgment, just one segment of it is 50,000 years. Hamsin alif. Can you imagine? 50,000 years. You know, people get caught up in their desires. They just want to party. They want to live it up. They think, oh, you know, I'm young. And then they get older, and then you get set in those ways. And maybe you live 100 years. Most people won't live past 70, 80. That's 60, 70, 80 is the average span, right? But even if you live 100 years of just doing everything you want, but imagine just the segment of 50,000 years.
Just the Day of Judgment, that's not even Jahannam.
And the Day of Judgment isn't like a day, there's segments to it. 1,000 years, 50,000 years, it's a whole compounded thing. And then on top of that, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), in the sahih hadith, authentic hadith, Bukhari and Muslim, Aisha (رضي الله عنها) reports that he said that people will be raised on that day barefoot, naked, uncircumcised.
SubhanAllah.
Habibullah, think about this. We spoke about the Kaaba already, right? Imagine you go through that. Now you're raised and everybody you know is being raised around you, right? Your father, your mother, your brother, your sister, your friends, your co-workers, your wife, your children, right? Imagine you're fully naked. How— like, imagine right now we're just sitting here If all the brothers here were naked, we would be in shock. We're like, what's going on, right? It would be disgusting, it would be shocking. And imagine women that you know walking around naked. You would be angry. Aisha (ra), she had so much haya, you know, she had so much shyness and she loved her hijab and her modesty so much. She said, oh Messenger of Allah, if we're naked, won't people see us? Imagine the answer. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, that day people will be under such stress that you notice. SubhanAllah. Can you imagine you're walking down the street and everybody's absolutely naked and you don't even notice it? You know, I'll give you an example. You know, if you're ever driving and let's say you're doing some wild stuff, right? You're driving over the speed limit, you don't have your seat belt, you got no insurance, you're just You're just wilding out, right? And you're going 150 in a 60 zone, right? And suddenly you hear, woo, woo, woo. You see how everything kind of blurs out, you know? Nothing looks fun anymore. Even if somebody was, you know, people that do haram, for example, they were listening to some music that they really liked, and they were with some girl or some guy, depending, whatever, right? But right when you hear those sirens and you see that officer coming up on you, and he's got his cuffs out, and you know you're not just getting a ticket here, you're getting taken. Nothing is fun anymore. That attractive person next to you, you don't even see them anymore. The music, you can't even hear it anymore.
Everything just blurs out.
Now imagine the Divya Vidya is so stressful that even if everybody around you is absolutely naked, you don't even notice it. You won't even look at them. A day when the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) told us, and the hadith in Sahih Muslim, authentic hadith, he said your head. It will be right on top of your head. And from that, people will be sweating. And some people, their sweat will be up to their ankles, some to their knees, some to their waist, some to their chest. Some people will be drowning in their own sweat. Now how's that even— wouldn't you just die? But you can't die. Death will be killed. Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will bring forth death in the form of a ram and kill it, slaughter it. Then nobody dies after that. Death died. In dunya, no matter what hardship you're going through, no matter what difficulty, what depression, what war and being a refugee and whatever hardship In the end, there's death. You got cancer. May Allah protect us from all these things. But I'm saying in dunya, no matter what people are struggling with, there's death. But on the Day of Judgment, there's no death.
You can't escape it.
You can't escape it. So even though in dunya you would have physically died from the sun being right on top of you, but it's the Day of Judgment.
Is the Day of Judgment difficult for everyone?
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala is just. And he's merciful. And no doubt it is a time of shock, right? But there are people that will be relaxing on that Day of Judgment. There will be people sitting on members of pearls and light and musk and beautiful— these are all mentioned in so many authentic ahadith. I'll tell you one beautiful sahih hadith. The Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam told us There are 7 kinds of people, meaning 7 people, basically 7 categories, that will be under the shade of the Arsh of Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) on that day when there is no shade except the shade from the Arsh of Allah (سبحانه وتعالى). Hadith of Muttafaqun Ali Bukhari and Muslim. Imagine the sun is right on top, like we talked about this, people are drowned, and then there are some people that are protected from that heat. They're protected from that torment, from that torture. They're chillaxing. They're under the shade of the Arsh of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Who are these 7 people? Who are they?
How can it be one of them?
May Allah make us from them.
Ameen.
Now Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala made their test easy, right? The dunya is a test. But it's easy. How is it easy? He gave you the answers. Now you know when you go to university, uni, right, college, whatever, and there's going to be a test and you don't know what's on the test, it's stressful. You're trying to cram, read, pick up your notes, maybe this is on it. But they tell you, hey, here are the answers, here are the questions, you're good to go. Just learn those. How easy is that?
Very easy.
Allah (SWT) made it easy for us. He told us every one of these 7 types of people. Right? So let's work on being from them.
Bismillah. What's the first one?
The first, a just ruler. Somebody who's a Hakim, he has authority, but he's Adel, he's just.
Is this for like presidents and kings and—
No, of course kings, presidents, leaders are included in that. But every one of us, has certain things that we have hukm over, we have the ability to lead over, that we rule, right? For example, if there is a king in a country, right? He is a king for the entire country. Now he, if he is just in how he rules his people, he's not cruel, he rules by what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has revealed, he's kind, he worries about the people, he tries to do tarbiyyah for the people, he makes sure that they have what they are are needed from safety and security and proper Islamic guidance and so on, he will be under the shade of the Arsh of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. But very few people are in that place. But then there's a governor. A governor rules an area. He's not the king, but he rules an area. He's still a Hakim. He still has authority, wali-ul-amr, right? He has an amr that he's given. So now he has the same responsibility. Just like we obey him in order to obey the king, right? So just like that, he has that authority. The king gave his rules, but is he implementing those righteous laws? Then there will be a mayor, for example, somebody who rules an area, right? Then each household has an Amir. The father, the man, the husband of the house is the Raa'i. He is the caretaker. The shepherd for his flock. He has the hukm there, but is he treating his wife the way that Allah (SWT) ordered? Is he treating his children the way that Allah (SWT) ordered? Is he treating his siblings and his parents and those that may be dependent on him the way that Allah (SWT) ordered? Is he kind with them? Is he just with them? Does he follow the laws of Allah (SWT) in how the household runs? He has hukm. Now the wife has authority over the kids. Right? Now she has that hukm there. Right? Is she giving them the tarbiyyah? If the husband says, hey, I don't want my children going here and there, is she obeying those laws? Right? Everybody has a responsibility, a hukm that they're responsible for. And if they do it justly, if they do it in the way that Allah has ordained in the Quran, in the way the Prophet (AS) has shown us in his authentic ahadith, then they will be from this category. Now, the second is a very interesting category. That is a youth, a young person, somebody who's shabab, young, but dedicated to the worship of Allah (SWT).
That's a good reminder if there's some young people listening in.
Everybody. And what's young? Young doesn't just mean you're a teenager. If your lahya still is black majority, if it's not fully white yet, You're young, you have that ability, right? And this is a beautiful, beautiful category. Why? Because there's another hadith. I like to bring all the ahadith and connect them together. That hadith mentioned the Day of Judgment, there will be question about 4 things. One of them is how you earned your rizq and how you spent it. How much knowledge did you gain, the obligatory knowledge, did you gain it? And and how did you act in accordance to it? Your life and how you spent it. Now look at the fourth question: your youth and how you spent it. Abu Lahya, isn't your youth a part of your life anyway?
Yeah, why did it separate the question?
Why? Because so many people waste this time. Such a critical time. This is when you're physically strong, you're mentally sharp, you're not dealing with dementia and Alzheimer's, and you're not dealing with with joints hurting and not being able to push yourself in ibadah because you got arthritis and things, right? When you get older, you deal with all these issues. When you're young, you have that physical— you can stay up days and still be sharp. You can worship Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) all night and be fresh to go to work in the morning. You can go Hajj and Umrah and you can give dawah. You can do all that. But so many people waste this time. You know, you see some young brothers, what are you doing? Killing time. You don't kill time, time kills you.
That's some battle right there, long battle, right?
Sitting there is playing, you know, COD or Fortnite for 4, 6, 8, 10 hours, just waste.
But we could use those hours while we're young to be saved from the Day of Judgement.
This time is so critical that if you look at the Sahaba (RA), The majority of the Sahaba that you see accomplished great things, they were young.
Can you give me an example?
You look at Muadh ibn Jabal (RA), he was young, but he was a dai. He hooked up with another dai named Mus'ab ibn Umayr. Muadh ibn Jabal from Madinah, Mus'ab ibn Umayr from Mecca. Mus'ab ibn Umayr made hijrah, came to Madinah. Muadh ibn Jabal went with him. Two youth, two young people, they're out there They're giving dawah. They change the city of Yathrib to prepare it for the Hijrah. They made it Dar-ul-Hijrah, where we're sitting today in Madinah. How did Madinah become Muslim? These young boys.
Do you know how old they were?
They were in their late teens. You know, we don't know exactly, but they were young, right? Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra) was younger than that, right? Battling, great warrior, young. I'll show you a beautiful hadith. You know who is the Firaun of this Ummah?
Who is he?
Abu Jahl. Abu Jahl is called the Firaun of this Ummah. Abu Lahya was a coward. He didn't want to go for Badr. He sent somebody else in his place, stayed back. Adab came to him anyway. He got a disease, hands rotted. Abu Jahl was staunch enemy of Allah, enemy of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم). in Badr. He was riding on a horse or a camel. He was a fursan, like he was riding. So it's hard to get to him from the ground. And he had the Quraysh, his son, and others around him protecting him. Two young Sahaba, Abdur Rahman ibn Auf (رضي الله عليه وسلم) Amr ibn Jumu'ah. These are Sahaba that are so young that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) right?
Not going to let them go fight.
Mu'adh and Mu'awwad.
They were too young to go fight.
Too young. So these two, Mu'adh and Mu'awwad, these two Sahaba, they were very young, but they were competing with each other, right? They were They were like, I want to go. So they were wrestling with each other, they were trying to prove it. They were so young, it was hard for them to hold their swords. They went and there they tell Abdur Rahman al-Auf radhyahu, uncle, where's Abu Jahl? He says, what do you want to do with Abu Jahl? He said, this is the enemy of Allah, this is the enemy of Rasulullah this is the enemy of Islam, the enemy of mankind, this is the The one who gave hardship to our Prophet, wallahi, today in the battle will not leave him. He said, you're little kids, you're young, you know, what are you going to do? They said, just show us where he is. He pointed to them to where he is. They darted after him. You know, Ikrama ibn Abi Jahl became Muslim later, but he attacked them, right? And they were attacking to bring Abu Jahl down. One of them, he had his arm cut off. Imagine Abu Jahl like is attacking you. Abu Jahl is like, he's got his fear that he puts in people, the Quraysh around him, the mushrikeen are all attacking you, right? Abu Lahya, be real with me. Imagine if you were that teenage boy and your arm gets cut and it's hanging. It's cut off, your limbs are cut, your bones detached, it's hanging. Hanging. What are you going to do?
You'd be afraid.
Be real.
What's going on?
Don't be like, oh no, I just— nah, come on, bro. You'd be like, bro, I'm taking an L right here. This is khalas, you know. I did my part. Like, look, I gotta go get this fixed. What did this young man do? He put the arm down, stepped on it, ripped it off, continued fighting, and he took Abu Lahya down. BarakAllah! He took Abu Lahya down. These two young kids took Abu Jahl down. They didn't think, oh, we're young, we're in our teens, this is my party scene, well, I'm not going to get these days again, oh my God, you know, if I don't enjoy these days.
And what's the reward they got from it?
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala raised their ranks. They killed the enemy of Allah. And they kept fighting. Without an army, kept fighting. Right? So this is somebody who used their youth. There's a few examples, right?
Beautiful example.
The next category— now again, if you're paying attention, try to fit into as many of these as you can, because if you don't make it to one, you want to make it to the other— is a man whose heart is so attached to the masjid that he always wants to be in the masjid. Yes, he has to go work. Yes, he has to go be deciding, but he loves the masjid. This is his environment. That's how we should be. You know, when some people, you put them in a mall and they're comfortable. Oh, they're shopping, they're out doing this, they're ordering food. This is where their comfort zone is, you know. I know where everything is in the mall, you know. What do you want? Like, I'll find you this, I'll find you— oh, just shop over here, right? But some people, their comfort zone is the masjid. And that's this third category, a man whose heart is attached to the masjid. That this is where he feels relaxed. This is where he feels at home. Where there's a dhikr of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, where there is salah, where there are believers, where there are pious people that are coming together to fulfill the obligation of fard salah, and then staying there. With nawafil, with reading of Quran, with halaqat of ilm, with teaching and learning, with advising and consoling and making plans for the benefit of mankind, for all of that, that's a masjid. And the person whose heart, every time they leave the masjid, they say, 'How am I going to get back to it? I want to be in that good environment.' You know, I'm sure you travel a lot, and I travel a lot. You know, I'll tell you, sometimes you go to another country and it's kind of foreign, food is different and the environment's different. And then you find the masjid, like a good Quran Sunnah kind of a masjid. You walk in, ah, you hear the adhan, you see the musahif, you see the rows, you pray, you feel like, oh, we're at a home away from home.
I have a story with this. I don't want to take too much time, but I was in Las Vegas, I was visiting Alex Hammoudi, and I was like, what's going on? This is a madness city. And the first thing I did after took him to the hotel, arrested, etc. And I was like, let me find a masjid in Vegas. Alhamdulillah, I went there and I found it was next to neighborhoods and a bunch of houses. They had one house that they had turned into a masjid. That's the masjid I could find on the maps. I'd walk in there and the environment completely changed. I was in Sin City, the worst, like one of the worst cities in the world.
Yeah.
And subhanAllah, you had a piece of Jannah in the middle of Naar. I seen brothers, Qur'ans. I was like, I want to just chill here.
So beautiful. Fourth category: two people that love each other only for the sake of Allah (SWT). May Allah make us that we love each other.
If you're watching this, I love you for the sake of Allah. Let's be saved from the Day of Judgment just from this.
I think about it, right? Like, me and you, we're not from the same race, we're not from the same ethnicity, we didn't grow up speaking the same languages. We didn't grow up in the same country. We didn't play football together. We haven't done any business together. Like, we have no financial interest, right? Why are we sitting here? For the sake of Allah (SWT). I could be in many different places. You could be in many different places. We could be doing many different things, but we are here just for the sake of Allah (SWT). 'Wallahi, I love you for the sake of Allah (SWT).' 'Even though I don't know you that well, we only met recently.' But this is a hadith about how the arwah, the souls, are like troops or brigades. Where the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) told us in an authentic hadith that souls had met each other in 'Alem al-Arwah,' souls. That's why sometimes you meet somebody and you just hit it off with them, like you connect with them. And sometimes you meet somebody and you're like, 'Yeah, I'm good.' So when you meet somebody and you just have that connect, it's because the souls had met. And this is something beautiful in Islam that we see, that when two people have no other interest with each other, but they love each other, they sit with each other, they depart from each other only for the sake of Allah (SWT). May Allah (SWT) make us all from them.
I mean, you're going to make me blush, Shaykh.
It's beautiful though. I mean, it's true. Like, our relationships aren't, you know, you're not, like, I'm not even in your system. Like, you're not making me money, you know. It's for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, you know. And that bond is stronger than blood. It's stronger than financial ties. It's stronger, you know, you see a lot of these big Wall Street guys, you know, these wolves of Wall Street that go out there and they make billions and they have these connects like Epstein and like, you know, Weinberg and what's, uh, Harvey Weinstein or whatever his name was. And, uh, like, you know, these guys are— they make billions with each other, right? With the B. But you see, when, when stuff hits the fan, they're immediately ratting on each other. They're, they're trying to throw each other under the bus. Trump's like, I barely knew the guy, I don't even know the guy, I don't even like the guy, you know, right? So the reality is that they don't have that sincere love. But the Muslim who loves another Muslim for the sake of Allah, through thick and thin, through hardships and ease, is there for their brother. Sisters for sisters, like building blocks that support each other. Because that love isn't just because I like the person, it's for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Alright, the fifth. Fifth, right? Am I keeping my count? The fifth is a young man who is tempted by a beautiful woman, and he has the ability to carry out that sin, but he backs away saying he fears Allah (SWT). You know, especially if you're young and you're watching, whether you're a sister who has that opportunity, or you're a brother who has that opportunity, think about this, right? Sometimes a person may lust after somebody, but they don't really have that opportunity anyway. You know, they watched a movie, saw somebody on a podcast, whatever, but they don't have that opportunity, right? But sometimes Shaytan sets everything up for you. Like think of Yusuf (AS). Yusuf (AS) was a slave and the wife of Aziz, Imrat al-Aziz, she was his owner. So she had authority over him. And many people don't realize, but the ulema, the scholars who describe, a lot of times from Israelite and so on, they said she was very beautiful. She wasn't like some old hag or something, right? So she was, you know, from her age, even though he was younger than her, but she was young, beautiful, wealthy, powerful, had full authority over him. And he was in a place where she had brought him into a room that was in a room that was in a room that was locked, that no cameras, no, you know, I mean, like Nobody but Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala would have known. But that's so beautiful that he knew that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala would see him. You know, he could have fulfilled his desires as a young man who was not married, who was, you know, of course people have needs, and it would have given him promotions. You know, I'm sure she would have helped him out work-wise because she was his boss, right? And he could have got wealth from her. She was very wealthy. And it would have gotten him connected, right? Like he could have, you know, had many connections that she would have introduced him to people, you know, like he had everything to gain there worldly-wise, but he feared Allah. And look at how Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala raised his ranks. Like that, you might be in a situation, you might be in high school, you might be in college, you might be in university, you might meet somebody, things may get, you know, would remember this hadith at that time. That you have somebody you're attracted to, you have, they're ready, you're ready, situation is there, but you say, 'No, no, no, I fear Allah.' And this could be a means of being under the shade of the Arsh of Allah (SWT) on the Day of Judgment. On that day where people are screaming, and imagine a day where a child becomes old just from the stress. You know, sometimes when you go through a stressful situation, you start seeing some white hairs popping up, right? Imagine if a little kid, his whole head is white. That's how much stress— that's the kind of— you know, I'll tell you this. If you ever want to put the Day of Judgment in perspective, think about this. Is there anything you would not do any sacrifice, any pain, you would not bear for your own mother. Nothing. Bullets coming, you will happily jump in front of it. Your father, your brother, your sister, your children. Oh, when you become a parent, you realize that there is— you unlock a stage a level of love you didn't realize existed. You know how you play video games, you unlock tiers, right? Because a mother's love for her child, a father's love for his child is something else. They will be up nights crying and working, and they will want their child to sleep and relax. They will take every hardship themselves to protect their children. They will happily give their life for their children. But a Day of Judgment that is so stressful that you would run from your mother, that your mother would run from you, that your children would run from you, your brother would run from you, you would run from your father, you would run from your children, your wife, your— Imagine, like that is the kind of stress we're talking about. And on such a day, if you can be saved from that stress, How important is that? The next category, the sixth, is somebody who gives sadaqah, somebody who gives charity in such a manner, with so much sincerity, with such ikhlas that his left hand doesn't know what his right hand has given. Now here, There are times where you should give charity publicly. Why? Because it encourages others. And the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) showed us this. When the Battle of Tabuk was going on, he told the people to bring the charity in the masjid. He spoke about what you did. leave at home?' He said, 'This person brought this much.' He encouraged, and they encouraged each other. That's good. Nothing wrong with that. But then you should have some secret with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Even if it's small, but you give it in such a way that you don't talk about it to anybody. You don't flex to anybody. You don't tell them, 'Yeah, I'm going to build your masjid, but I want my name on it. Yeah, I'll dig a well, but I want you to put my name on it. I want you to make an announcement that I put a brick that says donated by—' Nah, man. Trust me, Allah knows. Allah knows what you did. So giving charity in such a beautiful manner that your left hand doesn't know what your right hand gave. And the last of these, the seventh, and every one of us has an opportunity to be from this, is somebody who sits in solitude, alone, and remembers Allah, until their tears flow from their eyes. They're crying out of the love for Allah, the fear of Allah, the remembrance of Allah, so sincerely that they're by themselves. They're not doing it for show, they're not on a stage, they're not making a video, they're not out trying to impress their parents, they're not out trying to show people, they're not trying to impress their spouse or a potential spouse. No, this is a love that they have in their heart that drives them to tears in solitude. They will be from those that will be under the shade of Allah (SWT) on the day when there is no shade except the shade of the Arsh of Allah (SWT). So We mentioned these 7. We hope from Allah (SWT) that everybody watching, and before them me and you, will do our best to be from all 7, in whichever one we can.
Ameen. May Allah accept it.
Do you know what's the first question a believer will be asked on the Day of Judgment? What is it? As-salah. This is the importance of your prayer. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), in the authentic hadith, said the first thing a slave will be questioned about on the Day of Judgment is their prayer. And if the prayer is will be in order. And if it is ruined, then— that's what I'm saying is the test isn't hard. You already have the answers. Now imagine you're a Muslim. You say, 'La ilaha illallah.' You believe in Allah. You believe in the Quran. You believe in the Prophet (صلى الله وسلم). And you know That the first thing you'll be questioned about on the Day of Judgment is your salah, and you don't make your salah? Like, how does that make sense? How is that logical? How is that basic human sense? You know, I mean, like common sense. Like, look, I know I'm going to be questioned. This is the first thing, and if it's in order, everything else is good. If it's ruined, then I'm ruined. Khalas, I gotta make my salah. The 5 times salah, khalas. I'm not even— it's non-negotiable. That's how we have to be. I want to mention another hadith. Again, we don't really prep for these. This is all, you know, off the cuff kind of stuff, right? It's a really scary hadith. This hadith scares me to the point at times I can't sleep. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), sahih hadith, The first 3 people to be thrown in the Ghar face first, like they'll be thrown harshly. You know who they are?
Bad people, murderers. Yeah, they rob people, they wrong, they lie.
A Qari of the Quran, a scholar, a memorizer in Hellfire. Yes, a martyr, shahid, in Hellfire. And a philanthropist, a righteous, what would be apparent to people, generous, gives, you know, in today's terms, millions of dollars, right? How? The hadith explains. Allah (SWT) will ask everybody on the Day of Judgment, what did you do for my deen? Like, imagine me and you are going to be asked this question, you know. It's not just 'Okay, you know, I prayed and fasted.' 'No, what did you do for my deen?' So this scholar, this reciter of the Quran, you know, sometimes you see these people, they're making all these videos reciting Quran, and you see, masha'Allah, it's such beautiful. He will be asked, and he'll say, 'Oh Allah, I learned your book, and I taught it to people, and I dedicated my life.' Allah (SWT) will say, 'No, you did it so they could call you a qari.' They could call you a Sheikh, they could call you a scholar, they could call you knowledgeable, they could call you an Imam, whatever, right? You wanted that title. You did it for that and that's been done. Like that's what you did it for and you got it. Nothing for you in the akhira, you'll be thrown face first in the naar. Imagine like this is scary. Very scary. You could be giving khutbah and you could be giving lectures and people are like, MashaAllah Sheikh, Doctor, Allama, Imam, Marakallah, maulana sahab, all this, hafiz sahab. Qari Sahab, all these titles that you're loving. But what if you're doing it for that? Now you got nothing on the Day of Judgment. Very scary. The shaheed, he fought, got killed in the battlefield, sacrificed his life. He'll be asked, what did you do for my deen? He said, oh Allah, I fought. Look, I got cut up, I got killed for your sake. I gave up my life. Allah will say, no, You did it so people call you brave, people call you strong, people look up to your strength. And that's been done. People did it, people called you brave, people called you strong, people gave you all those, you know, 'Oh, this guy is tough, this guy is nails, this guy is whatever.' So khalas, you got nothing on the Day of Judgment. You'll be thrown face first in the Naar. Imagine somebody who sacrificed, you know, that's why not everybody who fights is a mujahid. Not everybody who dies there is a shaheed. You know, your niyyah is so important. And then a person who will be asked as a wealthy person, Allah (AJ) will be, 'I gave you wealth, what did you do?' He says, 'Oh Allah, I gave that wealth freely day and night.' He'll say, 'No, you gave that wealth so people could call you generous. People could say, oh, this guy, he gives so much. Look, he built these masajid, he did this, he did that. You did it for that? And that's been done? Nothing for you today.' Thrown face first in the hellfire.
How can we renew our intentions and purify our intentions?
Shaytan has a two-pronged trick here. The first trick he does is he tells you, 'You know what? Do it for show.' You know, tell people, 'You know what? I dedicated $30,000. I memorized the whole Quran and I know these many qura'at.' You know, I used to have this sheikh, he was an imam in a masjid in San Diego. And if we called him Hafizab, like Hafiz, he would get upset. No, no, call me a Qari. Like, what does it matter, bro? In the end, if you're a Hafiz of the Quran, if you're a Qari of the Quran, if you're a Hamid of the Quran, Allah knows. Live by it, you know, don't do it for that. Don't, like, if something has to stand, don't be like, oh, it's because I'm tough. No, I'm doing it for sake of Allah. So that's the first thing. Correct your niyyah. Check your niyyah. Don't fall for the second trick though, which is for you to not do that action because you're like, oh, I don't want to be insincere. Some people are like, oh, I don't want to give because I don't want to give openly because I have so much ikhlas. No. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), when he And Abu Bakr (RA), and Umar (RA), and Uthman (RA), and Ali (RA), and Abdur Rahman ibn Auf (RA), and Abu Aqeel (RA), and other Sahaba (RA), they gave openly, but they didn't let it affect their niyyah, but they didn't not do it. You don't want to be like, I don't want to go to the masjid because I don't want to show off. No, you got to go to the masjid. I don't want to keep a beard because I don't want to do it for show. No, you have to keep the beard. I don't want to wear hijab and niqab because I don't want people to think I'm doing— No, no. Those are fard on you. I don't want to go and fight or stand up to protect the innocent because I don't want to do it for people to call me brave. No, do it but correct your niyyah and keep working on your niyyah. And as long as you're struggling, you're good. When you give up the struggle, you're like, forget it, man, I'm just going to do it for show. That's when you're ruined. As long as you struggle. You're good. Ibn al-Qayyim (Abu Lahya) wrote this, you know, it was a longer passage, I'm just summarizing from it. The Day of Judgment has so many segments, right? People don't realize, I mean, we can't cover all of it, this is just an intro, you know, for people to get this iman boost in this blessed month of Ramadan. But insha'Allah, if Allah gives me tawfiq in life, maybe I'll do a series one day, you know. The Day of Judgment people have to go over the Hellfire. There is a bridge you have to cross, the Sirat, and this is difficult. If you think the rest was difficult, that's one of the most difficult things ever. The description of this, you know, many hadith on it, some are weak, some are strong, but there's one that I was reading which talked about people that will be crossing and they'll be going like lightning, like nothing, you know, and it's darkness. But the places that you made wudu will shine, there'll be light. Places you made sujood, places you pray, like these things that you did will be the light for you on the Day of Judgment. And some people with their iman and their sacrifice and their firmness on the deen, it'll be nothing to them. Like lightning, they'll just cross. May Allah make us from them. And some people that would run across, some people that will be walking, it'll be difficult. Some people that will be crawling, some people that will be crawling on their buttocks, they'll be dragging themselves. And this Bridge has hooks like huge claws that will come, the people trying to cross, it will rip them and throw them down in the Hellfire. And if you fall, it's a Hellfire underneath. You know, next time you're tempted by sin or something, think about these things because it's going to come. We're all going to have to cross it. The last thing we'll say here The Day of Judgment will only end you with one of two final destinations. Meaning the Day of Judgment by itself isn't the end, it's the beginning of the akhira phase. See, you have many stages you live through. There is a time, 'Alim al-Arwah,' you were just a soul, you didn't have this physical body. You still had a soul, Allah had created you. You have a beginning, it's not like you're beginningless, like Allah has no beginning, we have beginnings. Allah created us as souls. There's a hadith where Adam (AS), he saw all these souls, and he saw the soul of Dawud (AS) and it was shining bright. Beautiful hadith. But what does that tell us? There was a stage we lived where it was spiritual soul only. You were spirits. Then you entered a phase of the womb of the mother. This is a different life now. That earlier stage is finished. Now you have a physical body. Now you need to eat. Now you have umbilical cord that's attached to your belly. That's the rizq comes to you. Even though you don't have a job, you don't have a degree, but that risk is being brought by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to you. There is liquid around you, liquid is going through your lungs, but you're alive. You don't talk to people, you don't see people, you're in this little bubble for 9 months about. Then you die from that stage and you come into the stage of this dunya, this worldly life. And who knows how long this life, it could be a few minutes, It could be 100 years. This is another stage. And no doubt, everybody will die from it. Kullun nafsin thaykutul mawt. And you will enter the next stage, which is the qabar, the grave, barzakh. And then you will die from that life and be recreated, as we mentioned, a new body will come from the edge or the bit of your tailbone, that the only small speck that's left, the rest of the body is deteriorated, Allah will recreate you, new body, and the akhirah phase begins. The Day of Judgment is just the first beginning of that, but it's only two days. There's al-A'raf, where you will have some people for a time period on the Day of Judgment, people will be there, some people enter their final destination quick, The people of kufr will be going to the Naar quick. The people of Jannah that never associated anything with Allah, those that didn't believe in omens, they didn't ask for ruqya, the 70,000 and the 70,000 with each one, they will enter Jannah without hisaab and so on. So those who enter Jannah quick. But there are people that will be struggling. But in the end, there are only two final destinations. Either Al-Jannah, the Paradise, or Al-Naar, the Hellfire? So choose, where do you want to end up? It's beautiful, very practical.
Can you give us a summary on how we can be in the shade of the throne of Allah (SWT) on the Day of Judgment?
7 Types of people, alright. The just ruler. So if you're ruling, whatever authority you're given, be just. Right? A young person dedicated to the worship of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. If you're still in your youth, dedicate yourself to the worship of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala as much as you can. Nafal, ibadah, Umrah, Hajj, da'wah, whatever you can attach yourself to the ibadah. Somebody whose heart is attached to the masjid, a man who just loves to be in the masjid. So attach yourself with the masajid. Two people who love each other only for the sake of Allah (SWT). Find somebody that you don't have any business, any tribal family ties, just love them, be with them, connect with them, keep up with them just for the sake of Allah (SWT). If you're tempted, at a young age by a beautiful woman and you have the ability but you fear Allah (SWT) and you back away from it, or a woman who is tempted by a handsome man, she could go and do something haram but she fears Allah (SWT) and walks away from it. Somebody who gives charity with such sincerity that their left hand doesn't know what their right hand has given. And the last but not least, somebody who sits in solitude alone and worships Allah (SWT), makes dhikr, remembers, reads Quran, remembers Allah (SWT) so that tears flow from their eyes. These are the 7 ways that we can save ourselves from that hardship and be relaxed on the Day of Judgment.
