What Does Jahannam ACTUALLY Look Like? (You'll Be Shocked)

Eyoub and Speaker A describe Qur'anic punishments in Jahannam: boiling shoes, being cooked naked in massive pots, drinking boiling pus. Specific sins bring specific torments: interest, backbiting, fornication, hypocrisy. They warn that modern fatwas justifying riba won't protect you from divine wrath.
Chapters
Men and women naked being cooked in a huge pot. A person's shoes will be burning so hot that would boil his brain. That's the least of it. In the hellfire, there is no death, there is no escape. And I saw somebody laying down and somebody would come with a rock and drop it on their head, crushing their head. And the Punisher picks up the stone, brings it back, Smashes it again. Do you know why this person is going through this?
What did they do?
They— Do you know what the people of Jahannam eat? Plant that is thorns and sharp edges and spikes that you eat and it's ripping you up. Today all these shuyukh are giving fatwa, this is halal, it's okay, one house is halal, you're in America, it's halal, it's halal, halal. Fatwa will not get you out from the punishment in the Ghar. Now Jahannam can be temporary. If you're a— You could enter the hellfire and still get out of it.
Welcome to a new episode. In this episode, we're more serious. We're speaking about a very, very bad place, the place no one would ever want to go. We just finished the episode about the Day of Judgment, and now you told us there's two destinations a Muslim and a human can end up in. There's Jannah and Jahannam, the Hellfire. How long is the journey of the Hellfire? How long do people stay in the Hellfire for?
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala has told in the Quran about the Hellfire and about Jannah that they are forever and ever. Khalidina fiha, they will live in it forever. Abada, forever. These things are Very, very serious. You know when Allah (SWT) in the Quran says, Surat Mulk. Did you ever think about the fact that Allah (SWT) says that we created death and life? Would you live first or die first?
You live first.
But death is mentioned first. Why? Many of the scholars of tafsir have said because mawt, death here refers to the worldly life because it was meant for death, it's temporary, it's short, everybody's going to die from it, life is terminal, nobody's going to make it out of here alive. So it's called mawt and hayat here in the next part of the ayah is mentioned after because that is referring to the life of of the Hereafter, that's forever. That's when you actually live with no death. So if somebody— may Allah protect us from it. May Allah protect us from an-Naar and anything that brings us close to it, from actions or statement. But if anybody loses the opportunity that they had in this dunya, disregards it, kicks away the guidance, Does kufr, major kufr, may Allah keep us on tawheed, if nothing else, never lose your tawheed, never leave your belief, never lose your Islam, stick to it, cling to it. But if somebody, may Allah protect us, dies on kufr, they lost this opportunity, they could be in the hellfire forever. Forever, ever. So that's why it's so serious. That's why da'wah is so important. That's why protecting at least your Islam is so important. You can't take that chance. And if somebody, may Allah maketh from them, enters Jannah, it's forever. Now Jahannam can be temporary. If you're a believer, but you were doing things you shouldn't and you didn't cleanse yourself in this dunya or even in the grave, the punishment of the grave wasn't enough or the hardship on the Day of Judgment, you could enter the Hellfire and still get out of it. But Jannah is forever. If you made it, khalas, you'll never be kicked out of it. You will live in it forever. Now regarding the naar, It's not like fire that we think of. It's a lot worse. You know, as some of the narrations mention, that if somebody was taken out from the Hellfire and put in the fire of this dunya, they would feel at ease in it. The fire in this dunya is only a representation so we can have a concept to understand. But the Hellfire is something at a different level altogether. You know, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gave us examples in this dunya so we could have a motivation. Whether it's motivation to stay away from sin, or it's motivation to do good, or to be righteous. But if there were no examples, how would we be held responsible? I mean, if I told you that, oh, you know what, if you're good in business, you'll get a gaga juga gabaga. Huh? You would get gaga baja juga gabaga.
What's this?
Something I can't explain to you. Then it wouldn't work, right? But if I could give you an example, right? If you tell somebody, like on a business sense, right? You tell me, you know what, if you have your own source of income and you set up a good halal system with us, and we will get you the tools to be truly independent. And there's somebody who's just used to that grind all the time, right? They're like, what do you mean, right? You tell them, look, you know how on the weekend you don't have to work? He's like, yeah. So it's kind of like that, but it's all week. So you give them a concept, something they a little bit understand. It's just a weekend. But then they're like, oh, okay, now I get it, right? So like that, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala Gave us examples of fruits, but the fruits of this dunya are nothing compared to what's in Jannah. He gave us gardens and beautiful areas, mountainous, lush valleys and rivers, so you can be like, 'Oh, this is so beautiful, it's so relaxing, I love it.' Oh, so this is an example of what something is even more beautiful in Jannah. He gave us the fire in this dunya so you can be like, 'Oh my God, it burns.' It hurts. There's pain receptors that go off from it. Oh, okay, well that means the Hellfire, which is much, much worse, you don't heal from it, it doesn't just, you know, it doesn't burn off your sensors and then it's good. But then you're like, oh, I don't want to be in this fire, so I definitely don't want to be in that fire. These are examples for us to work on. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) told us about An-Naar, that The least— now pay attention, sahih hadith— the least punishment in Hellfire, the least, absolute minimum, is a person's shoes, na'alayn, slippers, was under his feet, will be boiling, will be burning so hot that would boil his brain. That's the least of it. That's the least of it. You know, when you get tempted by sin, you're watching, and we all do, when you get tempted by sin, think about this. If it's too difficult for you to be patient in this dunya, like If the young brother who wants to get married and he doesn't have the ability and he sees some sinful behavior that he can engage and he's like, I just can't be patient, I gotta do this haram. Or somebody that wants to do business and halal and the right way is there, but they're like, you know what, I can't, I gotta take these shortcuts, I gotta deal with this ribaq, I can't be patient. It's time for salah and you're lazy and it's cold and you don't wanna make wudu and you're like, I can't be patient on that wudu and that going to the masjid, just forget, I'm gonna go back to sleep. If you can't be patient in this dunya, how will you be patient in the Naar, because that's a lot harder. So better to be patient here than have to deal with it there. The Prophet told us about some of the specific punishments in Hellfire. Now imagine in dunya, may Allah protect us all, if I was to light something under your feet that was so hot that it would boil, you would just die. I mean, like, You couldn't handle it, right? But in the Jahannam, you can't die. In the Naar, in the Hellfire, there is no death, there is no escape. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) authentic hadith that there will be somebody who's in Jahannam whose intestines will be ripped out. They'll be spilling out, gushing out. And they'll be running around that blob of intestines like a donkey, screaming and yelling. And they'll be in that pain. And you know who those people are? Who are they? The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) told us, they are the people that commanded others Now, don't get it wrong, don't get it twisted. Everybody has shortcomings. Don't think, oh, I can't tell somebody to do something good because I'm not perfect. Nobody expects perfection. But if you're telling people, hey, you need to pray 5 times a day, and you're not even trying to pray 5 times a day, that's what gets you there. If you're telling people, don't deal with riba, it's haram, and then you're like, yo, let me get a riba loan. And that's what gets you there. Everybody's going to have shortcomings. Doesn't mean you don't give dawah. It doesn't mean you don't teach, you don't invite towards good. It doesn't mean expose your sins. But if you're calling towards something, you should at least be trying to be on it. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, there's one hadith and it's a scary hadith. Yani, these are ahadith that if you really contemplate upon it, it's a sahih hadith as well, it should keep you up. You know, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said that if you knew what I knew, you would laugh little and you would cry a lot.
What did he mean by that?
And you wouldn't even enjoy your spouses in bed, and you would run out into the streets looking for the forgiveness and the mercy of Allah. That's a deep hadith. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was shown haven't seen. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) knew things what Allah Hellfire, about Jannah, about things that we haven't seen. We have heard it from the hadith, but we haven't seen them. So he was at a level where he realized his connection to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, his fear of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, his love for Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala was a different level. Right? So he said, if you knew all of the things that I know, you wouldn't even be— like, life would just be about how to save yourself from the hellfire. But Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, out of His mercy, sometimes doesn't take us to that level because some of us couldn't handle it. He could, alayhi salatu wasalam, but maybe we'd lose it. But then he tells us these things in a hadith to warn us so we can still check ourselves. It's a beautiful hadith where the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam talked about two men, and these are angels that took the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam in a dream on a journey. And the dreams of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) are true. It's not, you know, just him to the Hellfire to show him something from the future. And Allah's (عز و جل) Qadr on this, right? For Allah, the past, the present, the future is all the same. Allah can show us the future without anything. Because right now Those people aren't in hell, but the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) future. And the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) describes this dream to the Sahaba (رَدِيَانُهُمْ). them, these two angels took me and I saw somebody laying down, a man, and somebody would come with a rock and drop it on their head. Crushing their head. Imagine, may Allah protect us, imagine a rock hits your head, just smashes it, right? In dunya, you just die, it would be the end. But in Jahannam, you can't die. And his head disperses, bursts, but then it comes back together. Stone rolls away, the punisher picks up the stone, brings it back, smashes it again. Do you know why this person is going through this?
What did he do?
They memorized the Quran and then abandoned it. Lost it, forgot it, didn't pray, didn't use the Quran in their prayer. They didn't wake up at night and utilize that Quran. They were unthankful and and ungrateful and just wasted this gift that Allah (AJ) had given them. How many of us go and memorize things and then just, 'Yeah, whatever.' And this is Ramadan, it's time for you to revise that Quran. If you're a hamil Quran, if you're somebody who's memorized the Quran, this is your month. Even if you haven't memorized the whole Quran, whatever you've revised, Revise, use it, pray in the night, not just the taraweeh in the masjid, sometimes get up on your own and read the Quran that you've memorized. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), in this hadith, I mean, I'm telling you the 4, but in the hadith they didn't tell the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) telling you, summarizing from the hadith for the sake of grasping all these things. The Prophet (صلى A man there whose jaw and their cheeks were being ripped, the face was being ripped by metal hooks. Imagine something like this ripping your face, side of your face, side of your— just ripping. And who are these people? They are people who would spread gossip, spread lies. Spread rumors, who would go and just maliciously spread these things around. And this is very common nowadays, unfortunately. These people today, especially, mostly do it online. It's no longer you sitting there and talking to people and backbiting and spreading rumors, but it's all posts and comments and reaction videos and forwarding videos, you know, videos that may not be true, that may be lies, and you're just spreading those rumours. Imagine your face is being ripped. Next time you want to forward one of those scandal videos, you might be that person then. Do you know the difference between backbiting and slander? What is it? Backbiting is when you say something behind your brother's back that they wouldn't want you saying, even if it's true. So may Allah protect us all. Let's say, for example, you go behind my back and say, you know, he's short, or he's clumsy, or he's this. Maybe I am, but I wouldn't want you saying that. That's backbiting. You're eating my flesh. Don't be like, oh, but it's true. Well, it is true, but that's backbiting.
Just because you don't like it.
Yeah. Today somebody goes, that guy, he's like this, he's like that. Brother, don't backbite. No, no, but it's true. Yeah, it's true, but it's haram. You know, backbiting is from the kaba'ir, the major sins of Islam. Look at the punishment in the nar from it. What is it? Your face being ripped. Right? And on the Day of Judgment, your good deeds being given away, you taking the sin of those that you backbit. Imagine eating the flesh of your brother. You know, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) saw some people backbiting. He told them, 'Pick the meat out of your teeth.' They said, 'We haven't eaten meat.' They picked their teeth, they saw meat. They hadn't eaten meat. They said, 'How can this be?' He said, 'You've eaten the meat of your brother.' the flesh of your brother.
And that's when it was true.
Yes.
What if they were lying?
That's even worse. That's slander, that's buhtan, namima. That is even worse. And you know what? If you're given some information and you aren't able to verify it and you forward it, you've lied. The hadith on this, it's enough for a person to be a liar that he spreads things without verification. Because a lot of people, you know, they'll send me a video, for example, oh, this da'i did this. Like, bro, like, what's that got to do with me? Like, why are you telling me? You know, if it's true, then those that are involved in the situation should deal with it. The authorities, the families, whatever else. Why are you sending it to me? If it's not true, you're lying, spreading 'bahdan,' spreading— and it's so common now, everybody loves the drama. Somebody says, 'Oh, this person did this.' 'Oh my God, spread it! Can you believe this guy?' Jealousy, because they're jealous, they want to take that person down. Then even if later it turns out not to be true, you've done damage to the person's reputation. Rumors still spread, and these people will have that punishment on the Day of Judgment. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), then he described people, men and women naked, being cooked in a huge pot, like a huge gigantic pot. That's lit up. It's like you're cooking food, you know, when you make that big biryani, rice, kabuli, you know, whatever, right? But there's people naked burning in it, and these are the people of zina, of fornication. May Allah protect us all. If you're young and you're watching, and even if you're old and you're watching and you fall into one of these temptations, Imagine, do you want to be that person? Is that carnal desire worth being burnt naked in pots of hellfire for who knows how long? May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala protect us. And then the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam described the person who's swimming in a river of blood and he gets to the edge And these angels pelt him, they throw these rocks, huge boulders into his mouth, and he has to go to the other side, and he goes back and forth with this punishment of going swimming in this disgusting, filthy river of blood and having boulders rammed and pushed and thrown and hit into his mouth. And he's just continuously going in this loop. Do you know who these people are?
What did they do?
People who dealt with riba, with interest. Today all these shuyukh are giving fatwa, 'This is halal, it's okay, one house is halal, you're in America, it's halal, it's halal, halal.' Fatwa will not get you out from the judgment on the Day of Judgment, from the punishment in the Ghar. Fatwa is not enough. You know it's haram. You know Allah made it haram in the Quran. You know the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) declared even the one who writes the riba contract, the one who witnesses it, the one who gives riba, the one who takes riba, is under the curse of Allah (سبحانه وتعالى). Sahih Muslim. Hadith is authentic. How are you going to say, no, it's riba? What? It's okay if it's one house. What? If it's okay if it's student loans. What? It's okay for an American. What? حَرْمَى للَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ? You want to go to war against Allah and His Messenger? Oh man, you these things. They're serious. In many other ahadith, we have the description of the people of hell. But just think about this. A place that it's not just the restriction of not being able to leave, which is bad enough, but fire of the hell is above you and on the sides of you and under you and around you, and there are different levels of torment. Do you know who is in the worst The most harshest, most serious, most devastating, lowest level of hell? Not the kufr. For the munafiqeen, the hypocrites. You know hypocrisy has levels. Some people have sifat of nifaq, may Allah protect them. And us from them. Like somebody may betray their word, and that's sifah, it's a quality of a munafiq, it's a red flag right there. Somebody may lie, that's the sifah of a munafiq, that's a red flag right there. Somebody may betray the trust. I tell you, Abu Lahya, I'm going to tell you something, but this is a confidence, and you're like, oh, you know what, I heard you go spread it. I say, 'Brother, here's some money, can you hold it for me? I'm going.' Like, 'What money?' Right? Those all three are qualities of a hypocrite, and if you start seeing them in yourself, you need to get worried. But then there is a level of munafiq that in his heart there's no belief. They're absolute kuffar in their heart, but they pretend to be a Muslim. They pray, they fast, they say sit around Muslims, they say masha'Allah, they say alhamdulillah, but in their heart, they just want to harm the Muslim Ummah. You know, some of these jassus, these spies that spend time, like Lawrence of Arabia and these guys, they're munafiqeen, they apparently come out as Muslim, but their heart— and we're not here to judge people. Like Lawrence of Arabia, because he came out and said it, right? But we're not here to say, oh, this guy, this guy. It's not our job. Allah knows the hearts. But those people that are actual hypocrites, full on, no belief in their heart, they don't believe in Allah, they don't believe in the Day of Judgment, they don't believe in the Akhirah, they're just doing it to pretend to harm the Ummah, they will be in a punishment worse than the kafir. Worse than the kafir. You know, not all of the punishment of Jahannam is hot. Really. There is bitter, freezing, Cold punishment. Do you know what the people of Jahannam eat? Zaqqum. It's in the Quran. It's a plant that is thorns and sharp edges and spikes that you eat and it's ripping you up. In dunya, you would die from it. It would give you internal bleeding, but you can't die in Jahannam, and you're so hungry. It's such a The thing that you're hurting and it's ripping, you're still eating it. You know what they drink? Hot boiling pus. Can you imagine like if somebody, you know, if you ever see somebody pus, like ugh, right? Imagine a bunch of pus and it's hot and it's boiling and it's disgusting and it's boiling hot water and like nobody wants to drink that. But you're so thirsty it's burning you. Is it worth to take this chance? Abu Lahya, out of all these punishments and every ayah in the Quran, do you know what is the hardest, the harshest ayah in the Quran? Upon the people of An-Naar? What is it? Sheikh Abdur Rahman Nasir al-Sa'di in the Tafsir Sa'di, he said, 'Ashaddu ayat al-Ahlul Naar.' He said, 'Ashaddu ayat al-Ahlul Naar, the harshest ayah in the Qur'an, the most severe, the most dangerous, the most damning on the people of the Hellfire is, 'Fudhuqoo falannazeedakum illa adhaba.' Go taste this punishment and nothing will happen except that it will become worse. It will never ease. It would only get worse and worse. If your skin burns off, you'll get fresh skin. If your pain receptors will come back and it will hurt even more. In dunya, if you have some pain, You deliver tolerance to it. You know, you have a headache, you've had it for a long time, and after a while you don't even notice it anymore. You have something pricking you, some pain, after a while you get used to it. But in the nar, no. May Allah protect us. It will be hardship and pain and suffering, and you know that it's It's only gonna get worse. May Allah protect us. Ameen. This Ramadan and these last blessed nights, there will be people that will be freed from the Ghar that will do good actions that will protect them from the Hellfire, that will save them, that were heading that direction. They were going into that haram, but maybe this reminder will change that direction, and they will utilize these best nights of the best month to change their lives. Because if you don't, you already know. It's not that you don't know. Allah (AJ) has revealed the Quran. Allah (AJ) has warned us. He sent us Messenger after Messenger, tawatur, one after the other. When the last Messenger was sent, He sent the Sahaba and the scholars to take this knowledge and ulema and du'a to bring it to us. He showed us signs throughout our life, miraculous things happened to us. We stood in salah and heard the Qur'an and heard these verses, we opened the mushaf and read the Qur'an and heard these verses, we watched lectures, we know. Isn't it high time we practice? Otherwise it will be nobody's fault except our own. You know on the Day of Judgement people will blame shaitan and even shaitan will say, Iblees, he will say, 'You know what, I didn't force you. I whispered, why'd you do it?' You are responsible for your actions. May Allah (SWT) protect us all from the Nahr. Allahumma inna 'A'udhu bika min an-Nahr wa ma qarrab ilayha min qawlin aw amalin.
Ameen.
May Allah protect us. We seek Allah's refuge from the fire and from any statement or action that would even take us close to it.
