Ming from Agents of Speech argues gestalt language processing isn't binary. Kids learn some phrases whole, some word-by-word, and keep frozen chunks from songs and videos. Rigid staging misses how learners need scripted material they can later break apart and recombine.

So things about gestalt languaging processing is that it's not a mix. It's not either, or it should be a mix. So when it's mixed up, it means some words are learned in a gestalt way. Gestalt just means a whole thing. The general meaning is that gestalt is like people learning chunks of language. But that's not always 100% true. It could be a mix. Right. You do see children who are learning analytically, meaning word by word in their own grammatical roles and so on. They do have gestalt phrases. They have a lot of frozen phrases. Because if a child learns from a song or like YouTube videos, those phrases are frozen and cannot be manipulated in a different way in a very easy way, in a very flexible way. So that's what makes me consider like the GLP stages very rigid, because most of the time you need to give them more scripts to use and then you can mix and match those later on.
