So we met during UCI when I was a first year and he was a fourth year. I was helping her out with what classes to take and just usual boring stuff. It was just like we had known each other for so long, it was never like we had to force a conversation. Her smile, her energy, her ambitiousness, such a hard working person. It's amazing. So when he came to first meet my parents, it was something that I didn't even have to help him. He was able to talk to my parents and my parents were so impressed. They were very welcoming, super nice and we just talked and talked for hours. I think the way he was with my parents, that's just how I am with my parents and the way he is with his family, the way he's so close, that's just something that I look for and I'm very family oriented and that makes a huge difference in a relationship. What that showed me was how important family was to her. I don't think they could have found a guy better than I found for myself. Throughout the whole long distance. We had to find something that was we had in common which was just keeping really good communication with each other. I don't think there's ever a day went by that we did not communicate. We understand each other really well so it made it really easy. I just knew that I had a really patient guy that was able to put up with a lot of things that normal long distance relationships have. It gets harder every time to say bye. But the fact that we went through the long distances for so many years shows how much love there is between us. When I went out to New York for a rotation he had been planning and I had no idea I was able to ask her mom the permission to propose there. So I thought we were just going to go to the city and hang out there and meet up with his friends. I was nervous about whether or not I'll do a good job. We went to Central park and we were standing by the lake and he got down on one knee and proposed. She was very surprised. So that was good. Knowing her, I knew that she was going to be appreciated. Anything I do for her because she's very appreciative. I will never forget that day. It's just something that I'll always remember. He's really caring. He puts everybody else before him. He has the best qualities you could find in a guy. I just know that it's really hard to find when I'm with her and we're just relaxing. I don't think I've ever felt more peaceful in my life. I can't wait to form some amazing memories and start our life together.
