Having been married for 10 years, divorced, and now in a 10-year relationship that is completely different from what I experienced in my marriage, I wanted to share 5 ways in which you can tell whether or not a man is going to be a good partner. And the first one is that he communicates clearly, effectively, and in a healthy way. Number 2, is he emotionally available? What does that mean? One, he can share and be vulnerable, and two, he's not afraid to let you know what his emotional needs are, and he's able to also support you in yours. The third is that he supports your growth, your ambitions, and your desires. He doesn't feel threatened by what you want to accomplish. Number 4, he takes responsibility for himself. He doesn't shift blame, he doesn't point the finger at the other people. If something happens, he takes responsibility for himself and for his actions. And even if it's not something that he needs to be responsible for, he is responsible for how how he manages his emotions and how he deals with his emotions. And the fifth one is that he respects your boundaries. We all need to have boundaries, and not respecting them is a sign that maybe things aren't quite right. Now, if you're unsure about where you are in your divorce journey, I encourage you to take our Rediscover Your Spark quiz, and we'll take it from there.
