I Believe

A speaker tells divorced women that leaving was an act of self-love, not failure. She argues that societal expectations trap women and calls them to build supportive communities, pursue passionate relationships, and step into their best selves.

I want to share a little bit about what I believe, especially for us women who have been divorced. And this is coming from my heart, this is coming from my soul, because this is something that I believe in really deeply. And I believe that you deserve all of the happiness that you want. I believe that roles and expectations are a cage that keeps us trapped, that keeps us behaving in a way that serves the people around us, but not necessarily that serves us. I believe that we are all stronger than we give ourselves credit for. We've achieved things that are unimaginable, things that only we could have achieved. I believe that we deserve to be happy. We deserve to have a life that makes us feel like we are kicking butt every single day. A life that is aligned with our values and our passions and who we are at our core because We are here to make a damn difference. We are here to make life better for ourselves and for the people around us. We are here to show up as the best possible version of ourselves. Because when I look at what's going on around in the world right now, the world needs us. The world needs more women who are strong and confident, who support other women, who support their community, and who are not afraid to take a stand for the things that they believe in. I believe that we are worthy of a big ol' love that makes our toes curl, a relationship that has us on cloud nine most of the time. Even though there are going to be bumps, there are going to be times when things maybe don't go the way that we want them to go, but there is, for the most part, that joy and that engagement. And can we talk about sex for a second? Because who doesn't want great sex, right? And when you're so deeply connected with your partner There's no other feeling like it. I believe that we can be champions for ourselves and for those who maybe aren't as lucky as we are. And the one thing I believe more than anything is that we can do this. We are stronger than we give ourselves credit for. We are wiser than we give ourselves credit for. And I believe that together we can build a world and we can build communities where divorce isn't a scarlet letter, where divorce is an incredibly courageous act of self-love because it says we're here, We deserve to be here. We deserve to be happy. We are not here just for the benefit of other people. We are here because we have stories to tell, we have businesses to build, we have communities to support. And if we don't show up for ourselves, we can't show up for all of the things that we want to do. So these are the things that I believe at my core and that I hope can inspire you to step into your best self, to step into your journey of transformation and discovery, because your divorce doesn't define who you are. What you do from here forward does. So what are you going to do? How are you going to show up? Who are you going to become to enjoy the bounty and the joy that this life can bring? I am really looking forward to seeing how you show up and how we can make that happen together.
