Alexandra Niel discusses relationship safety and betrayal. If you can't speak freely about issues with your partner without fear, that's already betrayal. She advises making a safety plan, setting money aside, and seeking help without telling an unsafe partner.
if you don't feel safe enough to talk to them about the things in your relationship, then they have already betrayed you.
So if that's the kind of situation somebody's in, how do they start either course correcting that, if they're able to do that, or how can they start to find their way out of that in a, in a way that keeps them safe?
I think, you know, getting help, support, making a plan so that you can make sure that you're safe in all of the different ways, you know, putting money aside, getting any other— and it depends on where you are and what resources are available. But I think finding the support and making the plan and not telling them about it, unfortunately, and it's going to feel awful and like betrayal. And it's not, because if you don't feel safe enough to talk to them about the things in your relationship, then they have already betrayed you.
