Alitura Naturals Q&A with Addictive Wellness co-Founder Sage Dammers

Live YouTube Q&A hosted by Andy Hnilo with Sage Dammers (Addictive Wellness co‑founder) and Anablanca. The session blends personal recovery anecdotes with an in‑depth, practical conversation about superfoods, Chinese herbal medicine, adaptogens, medicinal mushrooms, product formulation (chocolates, supplements), sourcing/quality concerns, and audience questions (e.g., neti pot use, shipping chocolate, vitamin C sources). Speakers give specific recommendations (spirulina, chlorella, he shou wu, astragalus, reishi, schisandra, tremella, liposomal glutathione), packaging/shipping practices, and simple recipes/tips for daily use.
Hey, yeah, I'm rolling. Good evening. We got this professional setup. Sage, say hello.
Hey, everybody.
Man. All right, are we. So we're locked in on yours.
So we're just coming up.
We're just setting up here, guys. Man, this is a lot better setup than what I'm used to. You should see it. I have, like, this, like, shoe box, and I set it up in my kitchen. And, you know, you got to do what you got to do, but here we have, like, this professional lighting, and so here we go.
Hey, everybody. All right. We're here with Andy Nilo of Ali Turra Naturals. I'm Sage, co founder of Addictive Wellness.
Chocolate, and this is a real pleasure for me. You're not seeing her. Anablanco Co. Hi, guys.
Hi, everybody.
Yeah, there we go.
Hi.
Yeah. Big, big fan of these two for many reasons. But after my recovery, I definitely. Sage used to work in the tonic Bar, Air1, and I would sit there with my. My jaw wired shut, and I would just kind of just pick his brain. And I got such a free education on herbs, superfoods, adaptogens, and just everything. Spirulina, deer antler, hoshou schizandra, you name it. And I came up with this tonic that I would drink every morning and night before I go to bed that just helped build my blood and help circulate that blood and help me get a lot of nutrition in my system when my jaw was wide shut and I couldn't eat. So, first of all, thank you for that, brother.
Absolutely. I remember those. I'd be leaving work at Air1, and we'd cross paths in the parking lot, and we'd stay there talking for two hours. I was inspired by how passionate you are about your health, about your recovery, about people performance and getting the best things into your body. So, you know, just always, anytime you come across someone like that, for me, is exciting and inspiring.
Well, likewise. I mean, so it's like when you throw that, it's like, you know, you just don't want it to end when you see it. You just bounce off each other. It's a total energy exchange. And, you know, here we go. It's just really cool, you know, what? 5. A little over five years later, when I first started doing that, I now have a company, Alatura Naturals, that I just followed my passion and lucky to have. And then you. I mean, you have just my favorite chocolate period. So, yeah, that's. That's the truth. I mean, when. To the customers out there and to my friends and Family. We partnered up in the winner to every order that we sent out. I think during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, throughout all the holidays, we included some of Sage's chocolate in the feedback. I would get emails, people going, you know, hopefully you got a lot of.
You know, it was super cool. We got some amazing feedback from your folks. And, yeah, it was. It was such a natural fit. And I love the passion that your audience has.
Yeah, you know, it's. It's a great time right now where people are starting to dissect ingredient decks. And when I say that, I mean, look on the back and really, you know, figure out what you're putting in your system. I mean, whether it's supplements, whether it's chocolate. I mean, down. Down to the things that say you get a dark chocolate from ghirardelli and it's 85% cacao.
Right, right. And. But then what's the 15%? That's the big question.
What's the 15%? What are they sweeting, sweetening it with? And. Or what Kind of down to the soy lecithin, right? The little things like, is it cane syrup? Is it soy lecithin? Are you putting an estrogenic compound in your system that is counterproductive to us men and women, you know, just bouncing out hormones and destroying your endocrine level?
And what kind of heavy metals also are you getting in that cacao? You know, in cacao, you can run into two big problems. One is heavy metals, things like lead and cadmium, sometimes worse things. But lead is often one of the biggest offenders because the way the cacao is processed, and then you're going to get into a lot of toxicity from mycotoxins and mold and things like that. If you're just going with a conventional chocolate, you know, they may still be organic, they may be 85, 90% cacao, but it could still be a really inferior product that's not going to be doing great things for your health.
And so I really wanted to have you on because for many reasons, but I just want to give as much as you can to my audience and to your audience as well. I mean, you have such a vast knowledge of just herbs, superfoods, like I said, adaptogens. But when I say superfoods, and if you could just break down what that means, like as far as antioxidant capacity, nutrient dense, and maybe give your top five favorite superfoods, because I don't know if my audience or your audience out there knows, but you found a way to infuse your Chocolates, which are sugarless, by the way, and with the most potent Chinese herbs. I mean, I'm looking at my supplement, and you have all of them in your various chocolates. So just explain how you've done that. And if you wouldn't mind just giving your top five game changer, like, Chinese herbs, whatever it is.
Yeah, yeah. So we can do like a cool little top five and two categories. So we have on one hand the category of superfoods, and this is things where they have incredible nutrient density compared to regular foods. Often they're grown in climates where the soil is extremely mineral rich. So you can only get as many minerals into a food as are originally existing in the soil. If it's grown, you know, in a soil that's super depleted, even if potentially that food could uptake, say, 54 different minerals, if there's only four minerals left in the soil, that's all you're going to get in the food. So it may still look okay on the shelf, but that doesn't tell you the full story of what's going on in there. So when we talk about one of the top superfoods as raw cacao, ideally you want that growing in the way that we get our cacao, which is grown in volcanic soil in a really pristine environment and full of minerals in that soil. Old trees, not trees that have just been growing for, you know, two or three years, but that have been uptaking these minerals.
Are you answering Monica's question?
Well, we'll get right to just one second. We're really like, go, baby, go time. And Monica will get you in just one second. So this is really an elite class of foods. You know, we hear things like kale and blueberries called superfoods these days.
Guys, on Facebook, it just says something went wrong. So we are having trouble playing this video.
Okay, well, we're rolling live still. Yeah, we got.
We're going with it one way or another. We're with everybody. So really, superfoods are this elite class people call blueberries and kale superfoods. They're pretty good as normal foods. But when we talk about a food like cacao, which has about 30 times the antioxidant content of what you're going to get with blueberries. This is what we're looking at. You have something like cacao, that's also the highest magnesium food in the world. You have cacao as the highest chromium food in the world. Chromium being the number one trace mineral that people are chronically deficient in. It's important for balancing blood sugar. And we have an epidemic of diabetes happening. So you have cacao, then bee pollen. Amazing. Another complete protein, really nutrient dense. And it's a way to get that pollen right from the flowers that's been so nicely concentrated by the bees. And interestingly, in studies in Russia, they've actually shown with bee pollen that even after people have stopped growing, they actually, after supplementing with bee pollen, they were actually able to add a little bit to their height, which is just like mind blowing at the potential there.
And I'm glad you touched on antioxidant capacity levels. And when I first got interested with superfoods, I want to say when I first moved down here, it just became like slowly became a catchphrase. People were talking about superfoods and mentioning things like pomegranate. I mean, that's the worst to the people out there. Has such a high glycemic index. Pomegranate.
Yeah.
I mean, just bang for your buck. It was. I would just find out what was best for me the best superfood. And I started. I bought my first pack, pound package from everyone of cacao powder. And it was, it was. I want to say it was Earth Circle Organics.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And so I just started it take, you know, it's a little chalky, obviously because it's bitter, but I mean, but, but with the raw, I just felt. I never have felt that good. I mean, because I was. You're coming from some. Somebody. I would. It was. I was eating eggs, which technically good pastor eggs too. But this was. Right. This was a 10, 11 years ago. And I was just getting in the game of getting interested of these things called superfoods. So I found, I did my research and I found out what were the best for me. It went and it adapted from, you know, blueberries. You read antioxidant capacity levels. I think it's, you know, like you said, I think it's. I thought the cacao powder was a certain level. You said 60 times.
Yeah. So they call it the Orac scale. It's Orac's radical absorption capability. It's the ability to neutralize oxidation, basically. And so if you look at cacao powder, it's going to be scoring in the nine hundreds. Blueberry scoring at 32. So blueberries are amazing. Not knocking them, but it just gives you the idea of the upper echelon of food nutrition potential that we're talking about. Right.
And so what I just, it just made sense to me at the time to put as many of those superfoods in my body daily, right. That I could afford at the time because it does get expensive. But when you do the math, buy in bulk and then just do a couple teaspoons a day, I get whatever. Like I, I have a supplement now with Alotur and that's what I take. But what I used to do is I would get the spirulina that I use in my supplement by like the five pound bags off Amazon.
Go big.
Yeah. Five pounds, like dollar. That'll last you a long time. I mean, whatever. 80 ounces. You start doing the math on how long. I mean, if you just do two to three teaspoons a day, it's. I mean, just to get that down, it's a little bitter, it's a little. It's intense. But you can make it taste good with maybe a little lemon, Himalayan salt.
Little pumpkin seed oil too. Pumpkin seed oil goes really nice.
Yeah, yeah. Bone broth, pumpkin seed oil, little lemon, Himalayan salt, spirulina. You start doing that. That's. You can get that down, cost under a buck, and I'm talking under a dollar and a good amount of it, you will be on fire. Maybe a little Ceylon cinnamon in there. Cayenne. I mean, I could go on and on and on, but just like that just gets something in the system in the morning. It doesn't have to be everything, but just. And then you'll start to feel. See how good you feel. And you start to add certain things and you start. That's why I built. I mean, you look around at Sage's place. Well, when you walk in, it reminds me of my place because I'm so fascinated with medicinal mushrooms, with Chinese herbs, superfoods. It's just, I mean, Chaga, reishi, cordyceps, Hoshou Wu, Schizandra gynostemma, you name it.
You just found an ant.
Yeah, I just had a Chinese ant. Chinese aunt tea. And I feel. I mean, I feel great. I mean, so it's just. I'm 35. I'm about to be 36. But I'll tell you what, I feel better than I did when I was first down here. Right across the way, working at the grove at Abercrombie. I think 20, 23 years old. I was depleted. I was depleted. I was estrogenic. I was eating soy bread, a can of tuna and an apple a day. I didn't have much money, so I was trying to get as much nutrition in my system for under 10 bucks a day. And so I Would buy a dozen eggs, which I think at the time was like $1.79. I would split that up into two days. So we got $1.79 a $1.80. So 90 cents a day on eggs, can of black beans, $1.89. So anyway, I made it happen, but my system was just depleted. But had I known or I started doing my research on superfoods and making tonics. And so here we are. You start to feel better and just be open to the fact that it's an investment. It's an investment in your system. And it's really not what everybody says.
You don't have to go in huge doses. You could just start taking one herb. You could take a great Chinese herb like astragalus, which is a great energy tonic. And it strengthens you, it gets your mind working, it improves your immune function. You could just start taking a teaspoon of astragalus a day. If you buy the right quantity, you're probably looking at easily less than a dollar a day. Just start with one thing. Start with a tablespoon of spirulina. Going into something like you were talking about, you know, spirulina is incredible. It's the highest protein food coming from the plant world that there is. It's between 65 and 71% protein. It's got the blue pigment phycocyanin, which actually improves stem cell production in your bone marrow. So from a longevity standpoint, that's incredible, right?
It has vitamin A, C, K, B12, has blue green algae as well. So that's why I knew. I just. That, you know, I mean, just as far as nutrient density, I mean, I will not go days without that. I mean, I think it's highly absorbable. And I just. Yeah, so I mean, it's that I knew that I went from just. Just constant research on going from chocolate powder. And you see. And you feel awake with that and. And then just doing your research on trial and error on what works best for you. But sourcing is very important. So it's just there are a lot of companies out there that may import from certain areas where they don't. The testing isn't as pristine. So that's. Do your research. I'm sure Sage can talk to you. Because sourcing is also how we make our business. So it's kind of. A lot of. This is confidential, but just be, you know, do your research.
Just like often we can recommend, you know, American retail suppliers for these things. We won't tell you where to get the, the bulk coming from the origin, because that's kind of our little like secret sauce. But Anablanca, was there a question?
I just want to here and there sort of connect you with the gentlemen and the ladies who are making comments for you. Yeah, Ben Richards from Bali, who just know his name, best friend. He says, oh, boy, he's talking dirty now. Go to the herbs. So, yes, talk more about herbs. A very lovely girl, and I can tell she's Hungarian, she would like to know why some organic cacao powders actually are made of cocoa and some potassium something something preservatives. She said she bought and in check assumed that it was a stamp, was legit and it was safe. But she feels like she's been duped. What do you say about that as a cacao, Paris?
Well, anytime something gets that popular as cacao powder has gotten and gets really hyped up like this, there's going to be people taking advantage of the opportunity to come out with a lower quality product. You see that with superfoods. You see that with herbs. You know, anytime there's a market opportunity, people are, you know, after a little while going to start coming out with the lowest quality product possible that they can produce for the least amount of money. So you really have to read the descriptions, contact the companies, read on their websites, check out what the origin story is of these herbs and these superfoods and things like this cacao, because people will figure out a way to sell you a crappy product if they can pull it off. But you just got to be smart enough and really on top of it to not let that happen.
And your attention to detail and intelligence in this matter is not just saying such. I mean, but it's just like, it's, it's, it's very impressive to me. I've always been a sponge and I will continue to be a sponge around you and I've learned a ton. And so I'm just, that's a lot of the reason why I have you on this right now. Just, I mean, you're helping a lot of people. And also, even if it's just one thing that the takeaway from this is do, you know, do your research, make calls, you know, follow up.
You're the thing of getting on the phone.
Oh, yeah, I love that. And like, I, yeah, I'll fire away as many emails as I have to. And just, you know what, you show passion, you show that you care. You're gonna, you know, you're gonna, you know, the cream's gonna rise to the top as far as like what sourcing. Because usually if it's. If they're that good and they have that good of a product, the passion is gonna be shot right back to you. If they're avoiding then.
Right. And also I like doing an email as opposed to on the phone. Because on the phone there's no record of it. They may feel like they can just tell you whatever but they'll be much more hesitant about deceiving you in an email because that's something where you're going to have a written record of it. So that's always my go to is I want to get their description of their product in writing.
Right.
Is there a super food you would recommend for glutathione production? I know there is a limit life for glutathione but any super.
So yeah, great supplements you can do for that. If grass fed whey protein agrees with you, if you, you're of the genetic variety of human that can handle that well to do a tablespoon or two a day that's probably one of the best and most well studied ways of enhancing the glutathione production. Andy, do you have any.
See I do liposomal glutathione every other day but did you. I used to do bulletproof. I do this bulletproof supplement form of glutathione.
Right.
Do you have any liposomal sources because they don't do the tincture anymore.
Yeah, yeah. So there's from live on labs, there's the liposomal glutathione. They also do a liposomal B vitamin complex and liposomal vitamin C. Fun because.
I wake up, I take it in the morning and I always test it. No kissing because it's stinky one. So until I'm done with that, no gourmet kiss.
You got to really be dedicated to going over that one.
But whoever, whoever brought that up that I would say that is the most supplement that is the most important supplement that I take is liposomal glutathione. I think that, I think cleansing the liver is the most important thing that we can do. It's one of those things I feel so awake. I go intravenously. Hopefully that's good. That's correct. So I'll go over to. Yeah, Myers cocktail and then. But, but also I'll double up on that. I mean I just really think that you, your body, it's something that our body produces and we need to make sure that it's, you know, it's replenished.
Yeah. And also coming from the herb world, not necessarily specifically tied to glutathione, but there's a Chinese herb called Schisandra, which is an incredible liberty toxifier. I know you have in your revitalized. Oh, yeah, one of your favorites. And since we're here with Mr. Alaturo, we have to mention that Schisandra is also an incredible beauty tonic. It was used by women of the Orient going back thousands of years to make sure that it is astringent. So it makes sense that it would be tightening the skin and preventing wrinkles. And so Schisandra is a liberty toxifier and a beautifier from the inside out. It's an amazing herb.
Dragon Herbs has a great, gorgeous schizandra thing.
She.
They. They have it. Yeah, they have an amazing tincture. They have a great tea. That's. That's.
Oh, my God. Hot water and the eucomia a little bit other things in a couple of drops of omicast area. It tastes so good. It's my afternoon texture.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It has like, they call it like the five cents or it's like sweet or the five.
It's is.
What do they call? It's like sweet, sour.
Five flavors.
Five flavors.
Salty, bitter and pungent. It nurtures what's called all three treasures in the Chinese. They're the different forms of life force in your body. Basically, it enters all 12 energetic meridians in the Chinese system. And it's an amazing herb on so many levels. It's one I always like, I've always wanted to be able to put into a chocolate product. The flavor kind of clashes a little bit. One day we'll do something that's like a, like a berry centered truffle that will get schizandra in the middle and that'll be an amazing, like, beauty truffle.
But yeah, I know if anybody's gonna do it, it's gonna be you. I can't wait. I already got some ideas, so we'll have to talk after this.
Yeah, absolutely.
So I want to. I have a question for Sage and maybe someone else out there has a similar question. I always talk about blood building. Building your blood. I'm talking ho shou wu gynostemma. And people want to go, how exactly? What's that?
Longanberries.
Longanberries. So that I know what that is.
A Chinese herb. No, it's. You can actually like here in. In Southern California sometimes the year you can get it at farmers markets. Dragon Herbs also has it right Dried. We got some coming up here right now. And so these, they taste like, they taste like.
Okay, perfect.
The flavor is like sweet ham, almost a bit bizarre.
Oh, it's so funny. My mom's always asking Sage to make her an ice cream that's bacon flavored and Sage says he's gonna make it from hunger.
Yeah, so. So if you wanted to make something.
Like, I could taste that. I could see that. Like the, like the bacon, it's very.
Strange, but it's just a fruit.
It is, right?
So it's almost like it's smoked a little bit.
It's got like a clear meat to it inside and it's yellow on the outside.
Oh.
Coming up to you. There you go.
Thank you.
And dragon herbs Long and proof.
Yeah. Great blood builder. And then there's also Chinese formulas. Like one is called ginseng and longan. It incorporates both ginseng and longan. And then you have things like, you know, from, from the. More the paleo ancestral side like the bone broths and animal proteins that are going to be naturally blood building. And then you have herbs like hoshiwu, which you mentioned. Great blood builder. And this is especially important for women and especially women who are trying to make it on a plant based diet. This is one of the hugest problems they run into is not being able to balance their hormones, not being able to build the blood. And so one of the most beneficial things anyone could do, but especially someone who's vegetarian or vegan, is to be taking blood building herbs like He Shou Wu.
And so Ryan Schroeder, A.J. what's up, buddy? Hey.
Jay Denman. Jing Master Denman.
Another genius.
Jay Denman is in here.
Yeah, his book.
I'm looking at his book. Thank you so much. I actually have a book right here.
We never go far from it. Jay Denman, everybody is the co author of this book, Food with Benefits. And it is an amazing book. We just, yeah, we just made their brownies. It is like they offer all kinds of different paleo and vegan options. Everything is incredibly delicious. Pretty much purely superfoods and Chinese and ayurvedic herbs in there. So if you're thinking about all this stuff, sounds amazing. I want to feel all these benefits, but it sounds like it tastes horrible. Like what am I going to do with all that? Get their book.
It'll show you how there are geniuses behind the, I mean so many, in so many different types of, whether it's dessert foods, they can recreate. Certain. I've never seen anything like, how they're able to, like, recreate. Remember the s' mores that they did. Yeah, like, but it was. It was like this collagen protein, gelatinous.
So they make these marshmallows.
Yeah.
Tasted like a collagen.
Yeah. I mean, yeah. Get that book. And that wasn't even planned. We're not trying to. Well, I'm just, you know, I'm just trying to plug awesome companies.
Yeah. We just want to bring awesome stuff to you guys and make your lives better.
So I want to answer Ryan's question right here. So, Ryan, how you doing, man? So I created Revitalize, because when you combine so many different Chinese herbs, superfoods, and I'll never forget, I think I made a tonic and my mom try it, and it was very. I think it was a little too bitter for her, but she made a good point. If you just encapsulate them and just maybe take it with some water, you get all the nutrition, then your system digests it rather than having to taste all the bitter herbs. So I just put my favorites into Revitalize. But the biggest ingredient in there, well, it's spirulina Hoshou Wu, Gynostemma schizandra, turmeric extract, organic reishi chaga, and Piper Magram just to help. Black pepper extract to help with absorption, and ashwagandha as well. But. So I wanted all my favorites in there, but a good amount. I'm not throwing 50 milligrams. I mean, it's. It's a 710 milligram capsule, and they're very evenly distributed. Distributed. But if you say take two or three a day, you're going to notice a difference. It's. I think it's one of the most underrated supplements on the market. I'm not just saying that. I mean, even if I had. It's going pretty well, and I own a skincare line. But I think building your system from the inside out is just as important as what you put on top on your skin. I'm very, very just. It's so important to me because I've experienced that. I mean, when I was going through my recovery, I met with. I think it was Jan from Ron Teagarden Herbs along with you. I would just.
You were pulling all the information.
Everyone. I met with so many different Chinese herbalists who just said so many different awesome things to me, but I listened and I incorporated it daily because use myself as my own biggest science experiment, basically. But you hit it from the inside and then you hit it from the outside and you watch those skin cells recover quicker. And I'm like, well, if I feel this good and my abrasions were gone, my scarring was significantly reduced within weeks. I mean, so I was like, I'm just going to do this for the rest of my life, you know what I mean? Daily.
As soon as you start feeling that, like, as soon as you start trying a few things, like try one herb, try one superfood, you'll start feeling a difference and that will get you excited. And this is what happened to me when I was like 18 years old, I got into my first kind of superfood thing was this mix of hemp protein and some different western herbs and chlorella and spirulina and stuff. And I would make it into a horrible tasting drink. But I started feeling this incredible clarity and this high from it. And I started realizing, if this was out there the past 18 years of my life and I didn't know about it, what else have I been missing out on? So then you're naturally going to get more excited to research and start reading and learning and finding out about as many new things in this whole genre as you can. And every step you take, you're taking your human performance to the next level.
Absolutely. And it's just so sage. If you would just give, I mean, if people are easing into health, wellness in the Chinese herb superfood space, what are some of your certain things that you would start off with or do as far as maybe meet with someone, get your blood levels tested? I mean, where would you start from if you're just getting into the safer, normal western diet?
So to kind of give a little bit of a perspective and an easy tool to understand the Chinese herbal system, I'm just going to quickly explain their theory of the three treasures. And the three treasures are what they say forms your life. You have the jing. This is the first treasure. It's your primordial essence. It's your core reserve energy. This is like your savings account. If you're looking at a candle, the jing is the wax and the wick. So this is your deep core reserves. Jing is what you burn through too fast when you stress. It's what you burn through when you're partying or living excessively. Whatever you're doing that's not living in a balanced, healthy lifestyle is you're leaking your drink and burning through that reserves. It's like if you don't have a job and you're just living off your savings account, that's only going to last you so long. The next treasure is the flame of the candle. That's the chi. That's the active part. This is your checking account. It's what you use on a daily basis. And then you recharge it from the food you eat and the air you breathe and the energy you're pulling in from the environment around you. And it's important to realize, though, that the ultimate purpose of a candle is not just to be. Be big or to have a big flame, but it's to give off a lot of light. So the ultimate third treasure is called the shen, and that is the light given off by the candle. It's the light in your eyes, it's the way you affect the world around you, and it's. It's your higher self or spiritual self. So when we look at Chinese herbs, we often define them as jing tonics, qi tonics or shen tonics. Or some herbs will work on more than one treasure. So a great one that includes Andy and I both love He Shou Wu is a great restorative gin tonic. It's like taking money and putting it into your savings account. It's building those reserves, building your foundation. So an amazing one to start with. Then moving into Qi tonics. Two of my favorites are Astragalus and Cordyceps. Astragalus is said to strengthen the extremities, so stronger arms and legs, it improves your ability essentially to extract energy from, from the food you eat and the air you breathe. So astragalus is super cool. And then cordyceps, if you get a really good cordyceps extract, it's actually able to improve your oxygen utilization. So of the air you breathe, more oxygen is actually making it to your blood and your brain, where you need it to function optimally, both for physical and mental performance. And then so you've got the jing and you got the qi, so you, you got your reserves and then you got your active energy. And then you look at shen tonics. My favorite there would be reishi mushroom. It's actually a three treasure herb, works on jingchi and shen. And probably either astragalus or reishi would be like the go to herb. If you were like, I just want to take one thing. You know, any of these would be great though. You could start anywhere that feels exciting to you. But reishi is amazing in the way that it brings down stress, it brings down anxiety, it brings down an adaptogenic herb. So it's enabling you to be more resilient and adapt to all kinds of different changing circumstances around you and just kind of slowly turns you into a more peaceful person.
Yeah. I love it. Well said. That really makes sense. I mean, it's just when you break down the certain feelings and you know, you can say jing in certain areas of wanting to replenish and how we, you know, seep that jing, but it doesn't, you know, people are like, well, what does that mean? And you just broke it down. I mean, that's a great point. You know, you're using your savings. You know, later on in life you're gonna, you know, you want. It's all about longevity and just staying, you know, revitalized. Yeah. On a daily basis.
Yeah, on a daily basis. You know, on a daily basis you are taking money out of your savings account more than you're putting in. You're not on a good trajectory. Yeah. You got to really reassess and figure out, you know, where your money's going, where your energy is going and how you're going to rebalance things and how you're going to supplement essentially and change your lifestyle to balance things out. Be building your savings, building your checking account, your cheese so you have still have more energy to use on a daily basis without tapping into those reserves.
Yeah. So Blake Rose just commented. Yeah, we're gonna, we'll see. Okay. Anna's, Anna Blanca's on top of it. So let's see. I mean, as far as. That's a great point. And if anybody has any questions, by all means, fire away.
We're totally open. The questions department is open. We're ready.
Yeah. Yeah. So I mean, I love the fact that, I mean when you. It's similar to sourcing is so important to me. And it's, it's just, I mean, it's just you don't. I'm in the middle of the final stages of say for instance, my pro cleanser, but even coming up with my night cream and well, pretty much every product, it's not normal. And I love that about you too. Nothing is normal with you. I mean, I know we're not just.
Going to like, not a one stop shop buyers of these things. And we don't just go to one company and say, here, here's my ingredient list. Can you give it all to me?
Yeah.
That's why it's such a pain to create the kind of products we do.
Yeah.
But it's also incredibly rewarding because we know we're getting the best.
Yeah.
We're going to individual companies, individual sources in you Know, often really remote regions of the world. And with each ingredient, we're making sure it's absolutely the best. Because why bother doing anything else if you're really going to put your energy into it?
Well said. Well said. And so it's just, you know, attention to detail on sourcing. I mean, you create just you an amazing product through that and, you know, there, there are ways to go about it. Some companies don't, but, I mean, I'm happy there's a way to stand out and in our, in our business in doing so.
So neither of us is just here to create a quick product.
No.
Make a buck on, you know, wild online sales and then disappear and do a new one in a couple years. We're, you know, here creating legacy companies, essentially.
Exactly. Yeah. That you, you know, you take pride in. You know, you go to bed feeling great because you put everything into it and may take a little bit longer, but it's just, man, life's good. Life's good, right?
We got a question from Josh. Astragalus root drops or sinus flu? General immunity boost. So these tonic herbs, if you are acutely sick, actually, they're often not necessarily the best thing to take with the exception of the medicinal mushrooms, because these are going to be activating and educating in your immune system. But for example, just as a side note, we talked about Schizandra earlier. That's actually not something you really want to take if you are sick because it has locking properties. So they say it can actually lock the sickness in and keep you sick for longer, which is obviously not what you want. Yeah. So if you've got a flu, if you're having sinus issues, medicinal mushrooms are amazing sinuses. I love doing a nail pot. And actually kind of an extreme version of a neti pot is you go to dragoneurbs.com and they have their gynostemma tea. They call it spring Dragon longevity tea. And you make that tea, let it cool down to body temperature, and you do that through an EDI pot. It hurts the eyes. It kind of burns the eyes because it's a foreign substance. When you normally do a neti pot, you do it with salt water and it just feels super easy. But the gynostemma t actually has amazing antimicrobial antiviral properties that go through your sinuses. And you'll feel kind of funky from that having been through there for a little bit. But half an hour later, you're amazing.
Hey, so how does that even work? And you can show me After. What do you like on your side? I've seen those neti pots.
Yeah, yeah. So you are going to fill it up with. You want to do it with purified water. There was, like, a crazy thing in the news a few years ago where someone is doing it with tap water and they had some kind of a parasite contaminant in there.
Oh, yeah.
Got up into their nasal cavity. You don't want. Okay. So purified water, the cleanest water you can possibly get your hands on, you heat it to about body temperature to where you can kind of stick your finger in it. And if you almost don't feel the temperature, because it's exactly your body temperature, then you. You put about roughly a quarter teaspoon of a clean salt in there, Himalayan salt or really good sea salt. And then you're gonna tip your head to the side, do it over the sink, and start sending it through the tip of the neti pot. Oh, we got one coming up here, so I can show you.
I know I am black.
I'm a block. This neti pot master.
Actually, another day I was doing it with some very serious silver, and then it hurts so much right here behind my third eye, and I wanted to cry. So I say just do it with salt water.
Yeah. So salt water is the easiest way to start before you want to get extreme with other kinds of, you know, wild stuff. But so you just. You stick it up your nose, just.
At the tip, at that angle, and.
You'Re going to tilt to the side, and you'll feel it start to flow up. And if you're really congested, it might take a while to work its way through.
Make sure that you keep blowing your nose.
Yes. But it'll start to run through the other side. And let it run.
And let it.
Let it run. And then really blow your nose afterwards, and it'll blow your mind. The kind of stuff that comes out, then really blow, blow, blow, and then you turn and flush through the other direction.
Okay. And just at that angle, you start it off, and then you kind of ease it over and then.
Right. Yeah, just enough. Because the way you. You're going to have the water in this reservoir here. So as soon as you tip it past the point where this is level, that's as far as you need to go for the water to start going. So you don't need to, you know, be tipping it all the way.
Josh also asked for a general immunity boost, like, I think, ratio.
Yeah. So we touched on the medicinal mushrooms a bit. These are. These are Mushrooms that generally grow on trees as opposed to ground mushrooms. And so they're kind of an elite class of mushrooms. And they have these long chain sugars in them called polysaccharides. So for example, in reishi mushroom, you'll get these polysaccharides that are these sugars that are actually like 3 to 6ft long wound up into little balls. But if you were to stretch them out, they'd be like a meter two meters long. And they come into your body and they actually get chopped up into smaller pieces by your white blood cells. Attach to your white blood cells and essentially teach them how to do their job better. It's like an operating system upgrade for your immunity. And then if that weren't sci fi enough, they actually your white blood cells then shoot these off like missiles against foreign invaders and pathogens. It's fully like Star wars going on, you know, on the microscopic level.
Yeah. So that's awesome. Sorry, I'm listening to. And then also trying to like, you know. That's awesome.
Yeah. So other examples of medicinal mushrooms. So you have reishi, which we talked about. You have chaga. Amazing. Grows on birch trees. We got some right here. Here's a raw chaga mushroom. We'll hold that up to the camera for you guys to check out. And of course you would get that in an extract powder or a tincture. You have Agaricus, which is the highest polysaccharide mushroom in the world. Other things like turkey tail, but you know, I like to stick with reishi, Chaga and agaricus. Those are kind of like some of the most powerful. And then lion's mane is another one also.
Big, Lionel, big.
Yeah.
I mean, I love it. So what there are studies. It does something to the. Is it the cerebral cortex, that lion's man's mane? Yeah.
So the studies I'm familiar with is lion's mane. With lion's mane is are those surrounding neurogenesis and ability to expand the neural net, repair after heavy metal damage and regrow the damaged neurites.
Okay.
So it's really amazing from that perspective. And they've shown, you know, improved focus, improvements memory retention.
Love it. Hey, any other. Isn't Chaga limited in supply? Said to be best if reserved for AIDS patients.
What do you think, Sage?
You know, I think things may be limited in supply for a little while in this genre, but the reality is that, you know, the more we vote with our dollar, the more they're going to expand their ways of being able to produce these things already. You know, people are starting to be able to cultivate chaga log grown Chaga. So it may not be in the same upper tier as the well grown, but it's still a high quality product. It's, you know, we could say that with, with lots of different things that, you know, you should only use this for those in extremely. But we're all dealing with stuff.
Yeah, yeah. I mean and I, I have a. I don't. Bowdy. He's out here. You're out here in, in Los Angeles, I believe I met him at the Vortex.
Yeah.
But yeah, I mean I have a friend out on. In New Hampshire who just collects Chaga and Reishi.
Right.
And you just go, I mean. And he sent me some. I just make teas and I'm, you know, you have to. Has to be. Jared has to be 7 to 14 year growth. Bodhi Gotcha Bodhi. My bad. Yeah, I can't. My bad. So. So Jared Doomba out there in Saskatchewan. Saskatoon, right. Anyways, out in Canada. But he says 7 to 14 year growth on the chaga is ideal.
Yep. And you see them in what herbs like ginseng for example, doesn't actually become a tonic herb till it's been in the ground for six years. So there's a lot of inferior ginseng products out there that you'll buy at gas stations that will just, you know, be really stimulating and then kind of give you a headache. But so yeah, things that are alive and growing for longer and extracting more nutrients from their environment are always going to be great.
So I mean, unless, I mean, does anybody have any.
I don't know.
Man, I love this. This is awesome.
You know what I'd be curious to ask you for sure. So I know you were up and coming as an athlete throughout your teens and into your 20s and obviously on a very athletic oriented diet. But at what point did you. What kind of inspired the shift for you from a diet for like athletic performance and gains to like peak health and more like sustainable health and longevity and these sorts of things.
That's a great question.
So.
So it went from getting big and muscular and wanting to be. Wanting to be getting big and putting on weight equaled more power. I was a corner outfielder and you got to deliver at the plate. Coaches want to see you gain weight and get bigger in the off season, come back and go, wow, nihilist jacked or whatever. So it went from wanting to get bigger, studying amino acids. You know, back then it was the GNC, the EAs, the creatines you know, the highly marketed but very low quality supplement.
Right. But that's all labels on them.
Beautiful labels. Great packaging, great packaging, nice job on that. And then they hire big athletes that, you know, endorse the products or whatever. But that was a big thing and I thought that's what equaled performance. And then, you know what it was? It was going from that to reading Men's Health eat this, not that. And so Men's Health magazine has a really good, Easy to read. I mean, back in the day, you know, it was 12 years ago, 12, 13 years ago, 14 years ago, when I really started, when I was about 21, started to really get into, you know, what exactly, you know, reading labels, what certain things were. You know, the less ingredients in my chicken tenders, you know, what is this may contain 2 or 2% or less of the following. I'm like, photo of the worst chemicals. I'm like, well, I don't want that. I just would rather have just chicken, whatever it is, corn flour at the time, but just having ingredients that I could pronounce and that I knew. So just year after year, I started to feel better. And then people on my teams started to realize that I cared and that I was interested in doing certain things. When I would go to the dorm rooms, we'd have these dining halls, but I would stay away from the processed foods and I would stick into things that I knew were either baked, grilled, and then go veggies.
And you can kind of recognize it and see what it is.
Exactly. And it's just, I would go the healthier route. Even back in the day, there was a constant passion for seeking the best nutrition because that, to me, luckily it made sense even at a young age that what I put in my body is going to equal performance and hopefully longevity as an athlete. And then so, you know, people, I started writing up diet plans for the first time and I was just kind of. It was fun for me to do that. And so then it just, you know how it goes. Just that, that accelerates, it builds.
Yeah.
And you come down here, people are, you know, like minded. And it was just, man, it helps.
When you get around a community is equally passionate.
Absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. So that's that. It's. It's just interesting now because, you know, I look back to kind of, you know, I don't have aches and oops. I don't have any aches and pains. I don't jinx myself, but I just, you know, just inflammation. Being a pitcher and an outfielder. Inflammation is everything running around, working out daily. I know exactly how I now I would deal with that but back in the day it was kind of like ice and you know which is great but, but there, there are certain ways to, to step the game up and recover quicker and perform better.
Questions coming here.
Yeah. So are you familiar with Chris Master join if so what do you guys think about his advanced zinc lozenges Advice and blog post. I love his work and strong academia influence. Usually my go to when always cutting.
Off when I first got core symptoms and I mean pretty. Have anybody thought so far says Josh Rice.
Josh Rice, yeah.
So no I'm not familiar with Chris. It sounds cool. Zinc, you know to touch back on the immune thing from earlier. Zinc of course an amazing immune nutrient. One that often people are missing out on. It's one that guys through recreational self love practices often deplete themselves.
Broccoli, oysters, ants.
I mean yeah. So you, you just hit on the big ones right there. Absolutely.
Yeah.
Yeah. Hoshi Wu Also generally black foods are an indication that there, there's going to be a good amount of zinc going on there.
So gentlemen get on the zinc. It's, it's fun.
Yeah.
It's a fun mineral. What's that?
Yeah, yeah.
I mean it's.
Yeah. So we have Mrs. Goodmore asking do you have any issues with shipping your chocolates to hot climates? So yeah, so that's always a good adventure for us. And also yes, to answer your other question we will have. You'll be able to watch the replay of this later. So when we ship chocolate to hot climates what we do is we pack it into biodegradable insulated containers and we put ice in there with it and we make it make sure it's getting there in two to three days. So we are committed to making sure that when you get chocolate in the the mail it's going to be in the same perfect condition that we made it in. So it's all possible.
That's next level. Seriously, that's. Nobody does that.
So it's. I forgot that it's a biodegradable packaging.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we only use biodegradable insulated packaging and we have two kinds that we use. One that is made from recycled cotton, the other is made actually from powdered rocks. It's kind of trippy but it's you know that almost even doesn't need to biodegrade. It's just minerals that just can go.
Do their thing because you don't do the Styrofoam Yeah.
So many people are using Styrofoam to ship chocolate. And to give a comparison, Styrofoam takes 1 million years to biodegrade. Our packaging takes one year to biodegrade.
So I think even our peanuts in vacuum water.
Yeah. And you know, when we're shipping to colder climates and we use some packing peanuts in there, they're made from plant fiber, and you can literally. You just put them in water and they'll dissolve.
There they are. Where'd you guys get those from? Maybe I should start doing mine in these.
Yeah, yeah. So these you can get from Uline. They're actually not like, oh, Uline, Really? And they're not more expensive than the regular stuff by much. And they literally will just dissolve in a while.
Play with them. And when you're done.
Oh, that's huge. See, you know, you never know with you.
When we're getting together, we're always learning new stuff from each other. I know that, you know, this is a kind of a geeky shipping thing, but the USPS priority mail, flat rate, padded envelopes are the main thing we use to ship our chocolate now. And I found that out when I got a package from you. I discovered those. I know you use those often as well. And that has really helped us make it affordable to ship chocolate around the country.
Yeah. So we got a question here. So which addictive wellness chocolate function is the best for overall health and longevity? Hey, just quick one. Can you read that? I just got, like, this PRK surgery, and I love the fact that I can read that.
Oh, wow. I can barely read it from this distance.
See, I'm worth every penny.
Amazing.
No, I mean, I do.
Tell us about this prk.
Oh, man, it's the best thing I've ever done in my life.
Yeah.
Yeah.
15 years ago. And that's the best thing I've ever done.
I didn't. It's all I've known my entire life is just, you know, when I see things or whatever, it's just like, I kind of just adjusted to big business. Biggest example is when I go in for, like, the driver's test or whatever. I would go up and memorize the letters because I knew I couldn't see them. Yeah, I would have to. I mean, I just did it and I was like, I don't want to wear it, you know, glasses or whatever. But I would just. I knew I could see it and I'd be fine with it. But seriously, I couldn't see. I didn't want to fail. The driver's test. And so I would go memorize it. I would sit there, and anyway, that's.
That.
That's. That's just the truth. And then it got really bad recently. And then I knew I had to get surgery, and I got it recently in December. And I see things that mountains. I did Dr. Berg on Riverside in Studio City. Unbelievable. I. I can't even tell you. Just, it's. It's made my quality of life a lot better. I mean, I see things. You know, what they do is they, like, cut the cornea off and it grows. See, with prk, it's what they give, like, military, fighter pilot pilots. And so it's not Lasik, where they just pull the cornea back, clean it out, and then put it back, and then you're good to go. Like, the next day, they cut the cornea off. And it's a little. You know, there's a lot of downtime. A lot of downtime. And that downtime is brutal. Yeah, because you're annoyed because you just.
Went to recovery time. Like.
I started to see results about a month into it. Like, like, like, really good results. But that's a long time, you know, and it's kind of irritating when you do something great for your body and you're like, oh, I thought this is gonna be great, and maybe I should have done Lasik. But right now, man, it's just. It's just really nice, you know, because this is all I've known, you know, my. My life, you know, just been able. Squinty. Yeah, you just get used to it, and you're, like, out there. But now, you know, it's really cool.
Completely blind forever. And, you know, I used to go out in clubs with my sisters, and I'm like, there's a cute guy. I'm gonna flirt with him. And, you know, I have to rely on my sister's eyes and different. Always truthful. That's when I got my lasik. But I think technology must have improved a lot for the past 15 years. Remember the first time my girlfriend went to get her nails done across the street and my surgery was done before she came to pick me up and I went to see the movie the same night. It was just the most incredible feeling.
Jeez, that's no downtime.
No downtime, nothing whatsoever. They gave you this feeling that you couldn't touch. But I went to see a movie, and I was ready the next day.
Yeah, I was not ready. I was not ready the next week.
Hey, let's jump back to Ryan's question. So hang on. So we got. Ryan just asked this one though, about which chocolate function is best for overall health and longevity. So my vote on this would be the tranquility chocolate. It has some of these top herbs we've talked about. It has reishi and he shou wu. So you got the hoshi wu, replenishing your core reserves in the adrenals. Reishi, bringing down stress and anxiety. Ashwagandha, one of the greatest adaptogenic herbs. Also anti anxiety, but also great for brain health and cognition. And then mucuna, which is actually one of only two known foods to improve natural levels of human growth hormone production. So goji berry is the other one that can do it.
Mucuna pruriens. Pruriens. Mucuna pruriens.
Sage. And what about the leaves, ladies? The new chocolate femininity.
Yeah. So, well, Ryan's a guy. I think the picture's too small to see, but I'm assuming Ryan's a guy, so I was going more in that direction.
I love this question.
Hang on. Oh, yeah, go for it. But also for the ladies, we have the she chocolate, which is building and balancing ladies hormones. So men are not necessarily as hormonally sensitive oftentimes as women are. So I think, yeah, for women, number one thing, balance the hormones, and then lots of other things tend to fall into place.
So man, Bodhi has got a. I know. I mean, that. That's. That that's actually was gonna be my number one, which I. Which I like. So desert island can take three things for your skin. They can't be asked as anthem sunscreen. What do you take? Okay, so I'm gonna go collagen protein, except for the skin. So I mean, that's desert island now. We get protein, we get minerals, and we, you know, nourish the skin. So I don't know if you meant internally or topically, but I'll just go with my. Just top three for. For skin period. So I have to go bentonite powder, a good pure form of bentonite, because I can do that and get some minerals inside, but also remove any toxins. But also topically make my own little mass of maybe some, you know, the water from the ocean or whatever, and make it. Make a cool little mask. So that would be.
You're good making masks on the road and like on the. Go find a hot spring.
I just.
Yeah, that's inspiring.
Thanks. I mean, it's just my thing. I mean, I love it. It's just. It's just, you know, it's fun for me. So I would go, yeah, Collagen, protein, bentonite number three. I would go raw, cultured, grass fed, butter, vitamin K2, butyric acid. Get those good fats and you know, you got the protein, got the good fats, and then you have the bentonite. I think, boom, you're good internally, externally with those three.
Yeah. So I'll break it up internally and externally as well. Internally I would go tremella. It's an amazing other medicinal mushroom. Incredible. Really high in hyaluronic acid. And also it helps to improve your own natural hyaluronic acid production. So it's moisture and elasticity of the.
Skin that's gonna be in my cleanser, by the way.
Nice. I was hoping to hear that. Yeah, that's awesome. So Tremella, topically and internally, actually, then also internally. Pearl powder. Amazing. For collagen and for cleansing the liver and bringing down stress. If I'm on a desert island, I don't know, maybe it's relaxing, maybe it's stressful, but I want to be chilled out no matter what. And then externally, tremella and pearl would also be able to be used. But it depends if there's a beauty contest on the island. If there's not, and I'm just alone and trying to survive, I would go cacao butter and spirulina. Mix the two up. And that's my sunscreen. I'm the green man.
Oh, yeah.
It actually works if you're not going in the water. It can actually function with cement. Spf.
Nice. Well, there you go. And you get a sweet tan.
I mean, that you'd be looking rad and you'd freak out anybody who came and found you.
Yeah. Cacao butter, that was one of the first things that I used to, you know, go outside and just get a little sun kind of, you know, just magnify that sun exposure.
Yeah. And it actually is great for like right under the eyes because the pores in there gets.
Exactly. And it has a little caffeine which acts as diuretic. So you put it on at night so it gets. It gets some of the puffiness.
Wow, that's amazing.
You know that has that natural caffeine in there.
Yeah.
So yeah, you get the good essential fatty acids from the chocolate pod and then you get the caffeine from the chocolate pod as well. So it acts as a little diuretic to reduce some of that puffiness when we sleep. It's one of my central ingredients in my night cream. What's A good. Forgot about shade. Ah, that's good.
So we have. Let's skip over to this real quick. Do you and Anablanca do all the fulfillment or does another company take care of that for you? At this stage of our company, we're shipping out all the chocolate ourselves. It's a lot of fun to be able to have that personal touch, you know, as we grow, we. Our goal actually as a company is to grow just at the sustainable rate where we can not have to outsource. We will, will bring in awesome people to do things with us, but our goal is to not outsource, keep control of the whole process ourselves so that we can add value at every step of the way and really bring the best experience possible.
Any thoughts on high doses of vitamin C?
Yes, lots of thoughts. You want to jump on that one first?
So what I. There are a few. Really? Well, there's so many good food forms of vitamin C. What come to mind right now are camu. Camu. There's obviously ascorbic acid. L. Ascorbic acid. There's. Let me see, Sage has been.
So we've got two of our favorites coming out here.
They've been experimenting with these two.
So here we have radiant C. It's totally like raw plant based, primarily camu, but also it has like asterola Berri in there. Now this one is really interesting. Let me show this to you guys here. Ecological formulas, vitamin C. Now what's interesting here is that if you're going to get ascorbic acid powder, usually it's going to be made from corn. Corn. It's through a fermenting process of corn. And that's usually going to be genetically modified corn. Even if it's not, it's probably contaminated with GMOs. You never really know what's going on there. So this one is made from tapioca. It's amazing. It's reasonably priced and you know you do like half a teaspoon, that's two grams of magnesium. I like to do a couple teaspoons a day and get more up to like 10 grams a day. And here's how you do it. I take like a full glass of water, put a teaspoon of this, squeeze the juice out of half a lemon or whole lemon and then use the lemon flavored organic stevia drops from Omiko Organics. Put in like five or six drops of those, depending on how sweet you like it. It tastes just like lemonade and you're getting ridiculous amounts of vitamin C. Look at this guys.
We are huge fans of Omiko Organics. They have unbelievable.
Yeah. So let's hold this up for you guys. So this is their new Omico Organics. We're not, you know, financially affiliated with them in any way, but this is something. We're crazy about their products.
They make a great tumeric extra as well. A little tincture that is. It tastes somehow they made it taste good. I think it's the honey. Hey, Lynn just joined.
Yeah. So someone was asking about best source for a pearl powder used internally. Yeah, I saw you answered in writing, but we'll answer for everybody else as well. Jing Herbs is an amazing source. They're a super cool company based here in la, bringing really high quality herbs and run by really people who are incorporated, incredibly mindful of what they're putting out into the world in terms of quality and really want to help people.
That's awesome. Yeah, that is awesome. Maybe I'll pick some of this up.
Yeah. So Omica is cool with their stevia because lots of companies who do liquid stevias, they are creating a powder and then reconstituting into liquid. Whereas if it's done through their process or where it is going straight from the leaf into being a liquid, it actually keeps a much cleaner taste. And they're really unparalleled in terms of creating a. Oh, that's good.
That's really good.
Nobody else does a certified organic like they do, and nobody else does it with this purity and the cleanliness of the flavor. Out of all the stevias out there, theirs has the least detectable bitter aftertaste for sure.
So delicious.
Yeah. And that was just one drop. I'm sure a little goes a long way with that.
You can just depends, you know, Depends on how much of a sweet tooth you have. Some people will do one drop and that's more than enough. Some people like five or six.
That's mine. One drop and I am done.
Hey, Jen. It's Omeca Organics. So we're omika organics.com that's O M I C A O R G A n I c s.com Omica Organics. No affiliation there. Just.
Just love what they do.
Yeah. Let's see, let's see. Ryan Schroeder, what would be the most important vitamin mineral you take in supplement form, even if diet is very nutrient dense? You're welcome, Jen. Let me see. Most important, if you're.
I would go magnesium, I think, because that's. It's the number one mineral that people are chronically deficient in 80% of Americans who chronically deficient in magnesium. There's various different forms you can take. Here's what I do on magnesium. I'm a total magnesium junkie. Partially because of genetics. I burn through lots of magnesium. I need it to keep my frontal lobes calm. I have what's called a double homozygous positive comt gene. It really gives you a lot of frontal lobe intensity. But. So I'm doing five capsules of pure encapsulations magnesium glycinate in the morning and then in the evening I do a scoop from Life Extension of their magnesium L threonate, which is a kind of magnesium that is actually able to cross the blood brain barrier which most magnesiums can't. So it really has an overall really cool effect on the nervous system and it's able to reverse brain aging. They've shown over a period of months. It can actually make you have a younger brain.
My personal thing would be. It's a great answer. I've never taken it in the morning though. I mean, so a really cool thing.
That I learned from Dave Asprey actually was that magnesium. The way the body uses it through the day, it peaks at night, but it also peaks around noon. So that's part of the reason why I do it like this. I do it in the morning so that my body can use it for energy production. And yes, I use the pure encapsulations in the morning and I use the life extension powder L threonate at night.
That's interesting. You use it for energy. Yeah, I never would. I mean I always. It just knocks me out. I mean I take three. Three at night.
Which brand?
I use natural stacks. Mag M A G T E C H naturalstacks.com N A T U R A L S T a c k s.com naturalstacks.com they're great, great dudes. And they're. They have. Well, I love them because they have an open source policy. So they tell you exactly what's in their supplement and they'll tell you where they make it. I mean it's just.
Doesn't get much better than that.
That's just very cool. No proprietary blends. It's just they're doing it. So props to them. Let's see. So mine would be. I'd have to go with herbs. I mean I would either go he shou wu or spirulina. I mean those are two things I can't, can't go without.
Right? I'm crazy about spirulina. I'll do a tablespoon of spirulina with breakfast. I'll have a salad later. Put, you know, one or two tablespoons on there. I'm of the variety of person. I happen to love the flavor of spirulina. It's not one that everybody loves in the beginning, but it's an acquired taste. I go crazy for it.
I. Yeah, I was gonna say on a salad, though, it just. It kind of, you know, adds, like, if. If there's some other type of maybe tangy tart, you know, kind of vegetables. Yeah, I mean, exactly. Yeah. So that's not that bad. Oh, a little guac, too, right?
Oh, absolutely.
Yeah. So hemp seed. No, naive.
Yeah, Put me on a. Put me on a desert island with. With guacamole.
Hawkins seed.
We have a salad booster that we make like this with hemp seed. Ashitaba.
Come on, come over here and share that. So this. This is the mix. You can make pre. Make this mix, and you can put it on your salad.
Okay. It's hemp seed, spirolina, chlorella, ashitaba, and some salt and pepper, and it's. You just mix it in one big. Did you put anything else in there? I think that was it.
Little lemon? No. I don't know.
You know, as other options, you can put some sprout on the.
I put sesame seed in there, too. Sage doesn't like it as much as I do, but when we just make it a salad booster and have it in a container and just sprinkle it on top. His salads are extremely dark green.
Like, I go major green. I'll eat the salad, and then my whole ribs are all green afterwards. I feel amazing. So that's. Yeah, that's what I'm in it for.
Hey, is anybody out there, or you guys as well heard of E.E3 live? Does anybody do E3 live that, you know, you put it in your freezer?
It's really kind of complicated, like blue green algae snitch.
Christy, Lucia would like to know, which spirulina do you use?
Oh, yeah. So spirulina. They have a great1 from longevitywarehouse.com their spirulina has a really nice amount of the blue pigment, the phycocyanin in there. Really pure, really clean, and a nice flavor.
Oh, go ahead.
No, go ahead.
So Ryan had a question. Are there any. Let me see here. Hey, Julia, let me see here. Are there any vegetables or foods that are okay, not organic, or should I. Yeah.
So there's A few things where you, if you know, if you're on the budget and you don't want to spend on the organics, that's a little safer to go non organic. One is avocados. You can, you can get away with it there.
I'm trying to think of. That's one that I do.
You can. Here's. Here's the best way to look it up because we don't have all these committed to memory. Google the Dirty Dozen and those are the ones you absolutely do not want to buy as conventional produce. And then the clean 13. Those are the ones that are pretty okay to do if you're on a budget and are not spending on the organic.
Anybody else?
So. Oh, you were just getting into the E3 life?
Oh, yeah. I was just curious like what. Yeah, what if anybody out there. Out there has tried E3 live or if you have. I'm just curious about it. I mean it just sounds like kind of a process which I'm usually okay with doing, but I don't know about.
Like that's why it's not been a long term thing for me. Like I'll get a bottle every maybe a year or two years. But yeah, it's an annoying process. You have to melt it just a little bit, refrigerate a little bit, refreeze it. And it just never was a long term thing for me. But yeah.
Jennifer Galgano just said she likes blue magic. Would you like to tell her about the.
Yeah, so she read my mind. That was next thing I'm getting to. So E3Live, the same company. I'm getting to it. Give me a second to give a little background. E3 Live makes a spirulina extract. This blue pigment called phycocyanin. This pigment is also in blue green algae, but in this product they extract it from spirulina. And I love making ice cream with this. It has kind of almost a bubble gum kind of flavor. If you put enough of it in there and you can make an ice cream that's like Avatar Blue. It's amazing. I think it was a couple years ago. I made it for Anablanca for our Valentine's Day. So maybe we'll have to bust that out again next week.
Speaking of which, one of our favorite subjects. Come on.
Yes.
I mean, just tonic herbs. Come on. What's.
What's for aphrodisiac. Yeah.
Come on.
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
So gelatinized maca.
Gelatinized maca. Yes. So we can. We posted a little recipe on our on our blog the other day, you guys can check out for the recipe. But yeah, gelatinized maca cistanche is amazing at bringing the blood flow to the parts where you want it.
Tribulus. Bulgarian tribulus.
There you go.
One of my go to's chocolate chocolate powder.
Yeah. And then. And then for guys, as something that you would do as a shot on the side, you can take a teaspoon of arginine, a teaspoon of citrulline, and a teaspoon of d ribose. Mix those up and that is gonna dilate your blood vessels. It's basically like natural, more natural form of what Viagra is doing. Yeah. So if you need the blood to move, that's how you open things up.
It's all about circulation. Hey, why not? Hey, we're just trying to help here. I mean, it's definitely stuff that's effective.
Like to have the ice cream recipe. Maybe we can do it as our next blog post.
Yeah. So, Emily, we'll get that up within the next 24 hours as a blog post. And once we do, we'll come back here and put the link in there for you.
Spirulina versus chlorella.
Both awesome. Spirulina is a blue green algae. Chlorella is a single celled green algae. So it doesn't have that phycocyanin blue pigment for the stem cells and the bone marrow. Chlorella is more detoxifying. Chlorella also has a property called chlorella growth factor that really blows the minds of scientists because it actually enables the bacteria in your gut to multiply at four times their normal rate. And it allows chlorella to actually be one of the fastest growing food plants or food algaes, essentially, in the entire world.
Wow. So you would. You would double up on that if you could.
Yeah.
I didn't know that.
I like doing chlorella and spirulina.
I'm gonna start doing it tomorrow.
They're both there.
One's right down the street. They close at what, 11, 1159. When do they close?
They close it like no or something.
Yeah, I know, but it's some weird time. It's like 11:45 or something.
Oh, right. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know.
Yeah, I think I'm like, why don't you just go till midnight?
Oh, I think so.
It's somewhere. I couldn't figure it out. It's like 11:30. I was like, let's go.
Another house, actually.
Is it really? Yeah, it's 11:45, right?
Yes.
Why make it 12? Dude, that's weird. I've never heard that.
Let the staff start getting ready earlier.
I Sure. I should probably start saying this.
They probably want to make sure they get out of there by 12.
True.
Anyways.
All right.
Yeah. Florala spirulina. Both amazing. They serve different purposes, but they're both super high in chlorophyll, and in that way have the potential to also be really good blood builders.
Anybody else? I'm starving. I gotta go eat. But, hey, this is. And we'll do this, you know? I mean, whenever this is convenient for both, you know, both of our schedules, we'll do this.
Let us know if this is a positive experience for you, if you'd love to see us on here again. Yeah, More than happy to do this.
Hey, I do. I do want to say one thing. That it was really important to me to have you on here, man, because you have such. I mean, dude, your brain is just. It's. You're a blessed individual with a ton of knowledge, and I. You're. Oh, no, I mean it. And I appreciate everything that you've done for. For me.
And likewise, I appreciate your commitment to these things. And. And every time I see your recipe you put out of the things you're putting down, it inspires me to make gnarlier, more powerful drinks and everything. So it's like.
It's just funny because that's exactly how I feel about you, so. Right on, man. Keep doing what you're doing. And thanks for having.
All right, everybody, check out the world.
We're not gonna go and make some amazing ice cream rice.
Yeah, guys, ice cream and I hang out with you. We wish you were here to join us. We'll post some pictures and a recipe. The recipe will be on the vlog by tomorrow.
Perfect. Well, let's make. What are we making? Bye, guys.
