Infrared Sauna Detox : Andy Hnilo visits Cool Benson at Planet Beach

A filmed visit by Andy Hnilo to a HotWorx infrared-sauna studio at Planet Beach featuring Cool Benson and others. The participants demonstrate and discuss infrared saunas (HotWorx brand), workout classes inside heated cabins, detox/recovery protocols (niacin flush, vitamin C, glutathione, sea minerals), practical usage tips (temperature range, hydration, EMF concerns), and franchise/contact details.
Oh, this is a song that we have for the Derma ruler, I think. Hey, how's it going? We're live here from Planet beach at the hot works facility with Cool Benson.
Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo.
So it's. This is a really cool facility. I've been coming here for a couple years now. Since you. How long you been open? It's. It's been released like a year and a half, two years.
Yeah, but it's in their second year.
That's awesome. Yeah. So the whole idea here, it's attached, it's franchised out, but you have a LED light, UV ray beauty bed, so to speak, right?
No, no, we don't have nothing. We don't have anything uv. It's all red light, Red light. Okay, red light and infrared. No uv.
Sorry about that. Cut, cut. So they have that. That's right there, Right. And then in room one, you have an organic spray tan, right?
Yep. We have about 11 different services, all red light and infrared based. So what Andy's going to do today is utilize our infrared saunas called hotworx. Inside hotworx, they're virtually LED classes, exercise classes. We can do hiit, you can do yoga, Pilates, core. We have all these different workouts that are bursary led. So our theme is automation. We like to just let people come in and use our saunas and detox and have a good time.
That's what we do. Yeah, no, it's awesome. It's extremely effective. I've been going to saunas and using saunas as far as like releasing lactic acid after a good workout and you build up, you know, you need to release some of that post workout. It's the most important time to do so and also for detox protocols. So I call it changing the oil. Sweating out the impurities we absorb through environmental pollutants. But also we're sweating out a lot of good minerals we have in our body. So it's so important to mineralize with things. I mean, this is an empty aloe turiclay mask jar. It's definitely not the alotericle mask, but we have several different amino acids in here. Himalayan salt, glutathione, glutamine, a lot of ascorbic acid. It's one of those things vitamin C you can't OD on. Now, I wouldn't go crazy on it. I have probably 3 grams of vitamin C in there. I have liposomal vitamin C. I love this brand. Lipospheric and the glutathione as well. So I'm really hitting it hard and hopefully that will combine with things like the niacin and the beta alanine to really create that flush. Brings a lot of the toxins to the surface of the skin, especially when I start on the bike. And then they have a row machine here too, which in a room that's heated 130 degrees, you're really going to create a lot of sweat, blood flow to the surface of the skin and circulation. Also get a really good workout at the same time. It's incredible. So I'm going to pop. I pop these at the same time. They work well together. Vitamin C and glutathione under. Under the tongue for 30 seconds.
How's it taste?
Not for everyone. Definitely not for everyone. I don't mind it. I mean, I just, you know, what I drink daily. It's terrible, really. For form it and the benefits. We'll call it 30 seconds. But this is post. These are sea minerals. You see that? Yeah, it's incredible for replacing the minerals that you just lost. And it's called quintessential optimum remineralization. So it's raw, unheated, trace ocean minerals that, you know, after we sweat and work out, it's the most important time to replenish after sweating out not only toxins, but your good minerals as well. So what we have here is niacin. So tonight I'm gonna do 200 milligrams. I would recommend starting off with 25, 50. I would get, depending if you've never done niacin, I mean, I know people that have done 5, 500 milligrams to a thousand, and I get a big time flush from 200 itself. So I'm just gonna stick with that. But work your way up because it helps bring. It helps escort a lot of those impurities to the surface of the skin. And you just sweat them out. And I have a whole protocol just kind of massaging the, the sweat off, but it just replenishes the surface with new moisture and that's the sweat and those are toxins and also good minerals. So you're gonna lose a lot of water weight. I would imagine you see a lot of UFC fighters like before they need, when they need to cut weight, they'll do a lot of sauna before. But it's, it's also, it's dehydrating your brain as well. So these minerals are so important to reintroduce back into the system post workout, post sauna, all of that. So it's important to do that. So always remember to hydrate during pre intra and then post sauna eve.
And it's important to note that these are infrared saunas, not just a steam sauna or a hot sauna. So you're getting the benefits of infrared and workout. If you don't know the benefits of infrared, just google them. The benefits are numerous and was endless.
Oh man, that was, that was a little hard to power down. Yeah, that was. So that's beta alanine, ascorbic acid, citrulline, taurine, arginine, glutamine. It's. It's basically a branch chain amino acid, a combination of amino acids. But I pick out the specific ones that I need for this right here. Like a good cardiovascular workout. So we're good to go.
And he's glowing.
And so what I have here, this is what I do. There's in the Altura body lotion. I'll put this on hair skin or hair body everywhere. Just because it has green coffee oil which has a little caffeine in it, which acts as a mild diuretic, which helps with water weight and helps remove some of that. And that's brought to the surface and helps tighten up the skin and condition the skin as well. There's beeswax in there. Sandalwood and acai butter. So you're. When the pores are opened, you haven't smelled this yet. There's a little lemongrass in there too. Dude, it's edible.
I can eat it.
Yeah, you can.
It actually smells like I could eat it.
No, but I mean you can't. Look, I'm not even kidding. So there it is. I mean it's beeswax, lemongrass, vanilla. These are things I would eat. So. And it's pure as it gets. Right. But the thing is, I learned from a centenarian years ago, the first thing that I picked up when I was first getting into skincare is the most important time like this anti aging treatment is when you're in a sauna when your pores are opened up is to reintroduce a lot of those essential oils when the pores are just at the most absorbed, absorbable time to do so. And with all the like the neroli oil in here, sandalwood and lemongrass, it's just kind of killing two birds with one stone. You're pulling out pures but you're reconditioning the skin as well and also hydrating. So yeah, let's go check it out. So we're going to start off what with cycle yeah. Start off with the cycle. I don't know if you're. They have an awesome instructor. I'm gonna go ahead and just do my own thing. All due respect, but yeah, I mean this is great because you're in a room. This is what, 100, 136 degrees?
We can turn that down. That's, that's pretty high. We like to keep it at 125.
But yeah, you can handle that? I can go ahead and turn it up.
Do you like it like that?
I do. I just don't want to, you know, overheat. Yeah, no, no, the thing is here, it's always good. Just, I mean to do whatever, whatever you can to get the blood flowing, to get the sweat going to the surface of the skin. I have this jacket on right now to help with that.
Zero moisture.
Zero moisture? Yeah, zero moisture. It's all, it's all infrared. There's no moisture. The air is easy to breathe. That's why you can stay in here for 12 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes and not feel like you can't breathe. It's, it feels great. Opens up the, it opens everything up. You feel great.
Yeah. Circulation wise, when you're getting a workout in a heated room, it's similar, it's similar to the whole Bikram yoga kind of. But you're.
And Bikram, you're just in a hot room. It's not, it's.
Oh yes.
This is actually, you're actually recovering while you work out. You're actually recovering while you work out. You're doing things that are good for your body while you work out. So the benefits are we call it three dimensional. You want that higher?
I'm good right here, thank you. Any questions or anything, Kerry Weaver asks.
Who makes that sauna?
Who makes this?
Who makes a sauna hot Works? We, a guy named hotworx. These are, these are our own saunas. They were designed by a guy named Steve Smith. And so hotworx makes the hotworx saunas. If you guys want any information about the saunas, you can email me at. Cool. That's C O O L hotworks.net coolotworks.net we also have this really cool business concept, franchises. If you want to, you know, open your own business, you can buy a hotworx studio. Whole studio of infrared saunas. People can come in and exercise 24 hours a day. If you want that, email me coolotworks.net we have a website, hotworx.net as well, but don't go there. You want to email me and I'll send you information?
Angela Pelizarri asks, is this a chain?
Is it a chain? HotWorx is a chain. Yeah, it's a chain. And I can tell you more information about it. Just email me@coolhotworks.net don't go to the franchise page, because if you do that, then I won't get credit for it.
Mom says heat is good.
Be careful. Who's that? Mom. Mom. Thanks, Mom. Will do. Yeah. So it's just. As you can see, the water's starting to come to the surface. This jacket's helping. Yeah, it's a little sauna suit, but it's good, though. It's good. See, actually, I like the bike idea anyway, because you're isolating. There's no impact. Yeah. And also, this right here is just all abs, because it's kind of like running to get those lower abs right there.
You gotta earn the burn, man. Earn that burn. Earn that burn.
No, I'm not sure. I mean, that's what. It's only five minutes, right? Yeah, it is or isn't it?
No. Your heart rate's going to increase faster. Your fat burn is going to be intensified because of infrared. What also is going to happen is you're going to get what's called the afterburn because you're heating your core. When you're done here, you're going to continue to burn calories.
Right, Right. Yeah. I saw something similar to that from a company called Orange Theory. Similar? What they do. Oh, didn't you and I do that? And the whole idea of turning your heart rate up, but consistently, you know, keeping that at a certain level, the orange level, and then you're burning calories for the next 36 hours.
Yeah, ours intensifies that. We call it the bonfire. It's much more intense, and you're recovering while you work out.
So we're soaking through the suit right now. All right. Getting hot. All right, so now on to the.
Yeah, you're gonna hydrate. You're gonna go in this. I'll get you a matte towel.
You're gonna exercise it in.
Just stretch out. Yeah.
So, yeah, it's. It's, you know, sauna's just been an amazing way. Not only, you know, hit home on the detox, but just a way to stretch out and loosen up either before a workout or after a workout. It tightens up your skin. I've noticed that my. My pores have minimized from. From sauna use. Have you, Rex? Do you use. Do you use saunas?
Yeah, but I don't have access to an infrared one at the moment. I didn't even realize this one was here. So at the moment, I do steam, but I don't think that's very healthy.
Yeah, that's the thing. That's a. A buddy of mine. Sorry, guys, I gotta take. A buddy of mine was telling me about the steam room. The thing is, a lot of that water still has heavy metals and chlorine in it. And so when you scald that water, that toxic water, it's such a heat. You're creating kind of like what he said. Don't quote me on this. This is just what I heard. When you're scalding that. That water that is already high in heavy metals and things like chlorine and fluoride, I think you're creating a toxic. Almost like a gas chamber type. You know, I don't. That's. That's what I heard. I would look into it. I encourage you to do. Everyone out there to do their research on it. But unless you're using, like, really good water, I'd be careful, because the steam room is just essentially using tap water, and that has not been filtered. And you're absorbing all of that in your skin. It's like, I don't want to do that. So there you go. All right, so what we're going in here. You know, this. This is what I like about HotWorx, too. Oh, man, I'm gonna get so much trapped for taking my shirt off. But, yeah, so what I like about this, too, is, like, if you really want to target, they have. They have virtual instructors. And just. I want to make this clear. Kool is a friend of mine. This is something that is extremely effective. If I had a job or something the next day that I, you know, last minute had to prepare for, this is where I come. It's a different kind of sweat. It's a different kind of sauna. Obviously, I don't have access to an infrared sauna. I thought about getting one from my house, but I just. Yeah, just didn't want to do it. So I've been using one at the local gym. Just completely different infrared benefits. I mean, you can feel it so much. It's a different. You don't feel as depleted. You feel much more cleansed. It's almost like you're getting, like you said, healing benefits as well as a workout, detox and skin conditioning benefits. Getting a lot of circulation to the scalp, to the pores. Everything good for hair, skin, nails. I really believe that. Isn't there something, some studies done also as far as like stimulating collagen production with infrared light?
Yeah, red light collagen production, helping the skin repair itself.
Right. So I'm going to get in here and yeah, they, they, they do have the virtual instructors that will walk you through certain workouts. Like if you want to target something, they have a robe, a row bed right there, a rope area, contraption, and then they walk you through a really good low impact. That's why I really like the push and pull of like say rowing lat pull downs, push ups, dips, Natural, natural movements and exercises that we've been doing since the beginning of mankind. You know what I mean?
Josh Rapton asks, what's your take on EMF with infrared?
You know the goal, the goal is to get in a system that is as low emf, as low EMF levels as possible. Right. And this is lower than, then most definitely lower than the, the sauna that I use in my local gym. But the goal is to go and find a place with you know, as little to no EMF exposure as possible. But you know, this is cool. The, the levels of EMF are pretty low at.
Like next to nothing. There are like no EMF saunas. These are not like no, no EMF saunas, but the EMF levels are like very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very low. We have, there's no reason to be alarmed about the EF levels of EMF levels of hot work. Silence.
All right, so we're gonna go in.
Here.
And so you know, usually they have the little commitment.
Yeah, just worried about the phone.
I guess. I'll just. If anybody has any questions, for best.
Results, be sure to keep the sauna temperature range from 120 to 125 degrees.
I mean ideally, I mean I've been just, I've been in some saunas where in Koreatown that go up to what, 250, 250 degrees right now? I don't think so. I think it's like 180, 190. This is a 129 right now you want to really monitor the heat. Like my, my mom, I would love to get her to start using the sauna as well. Just monitor your, your heart rate and you know, just monitor your pulse. You don't want to get overheated. If you feel nauseous or dizzy, by all means remember staying and rehydrate and remineralize immediately. I recommend things like Himalayan salt before, during and after. Dr. Rhonda Patrick has a really interesting article about cardiovascular health that is brought from saunas, infrared saunas. I think she's even going to do a podcast. Not overheating, but she gives a lot of good examples of the benefits of regular sauna use. And I, you know, ideally you would have, I mean, the best thing for me is shocking the system, right. Going from one extreme to another as far as cold thermogenesis and then cold therapy and then also with the, with the hot therapy. So you're just going from two extremes of say, cryo or a cold plunge into hot sauna, but usually with working out and combining, you know, raising your heart rate and especially combining it with a high intensity interval training exercise that. How long do those workouts go?
Kua.
Were they like 20 minutes or so?
The high intensities are 12 minutes. And the core, the yoga, Pilates warrior, the were all about 30 minutes. So it's like quick in and out.
Yeah. So this is, I mean you can target certain areas with the virtual instructor. They have, they have different areas that they work on. Right, Cole?
Yeah. So like, you know, this class, I think that's in there now, they're in a loop. I think this is, this is called hot core. So it's going to focus on the core, where people want to work on the core.
I wonder if we should fire this one up.
As Rachel try to keep your heart.
Rate to 85% range of your heart rate max. Don't forget the afterburn. If you burn 400 calories during a workout, then you should burn another 200 to 400 calories in the hour following the workout.
See, that's really interesting. Your body just keeps, keeps going.
Carrie Weaver asks how many people fit in a unit.
Well, I think they get the point. I mean, yeah, basically, yeah. The whole idea, I'm gonna get so much crap from taking my shirt off. Whatever this thing's soaking, I don't want to put it back on. Yeah, but I mean, the main, the main point with, you know, infrared saunas is just, you know, detox, removing impurities and then just kind of changing the oil, changing the system or, you know, we absorb so many toxins through pollutants, pollution, environmental pollution. Yeah, daily.
So also if you're like, if you're an athlete and you work out a lot, if you come in here and you stretch afterwards, you can increase your flexibility and strength and you're not going to be as sore. So you can get back to working out quicker. The next day or back into your routine. A lot of people are saying that.
Yeah, so what I do have a little bit and I like to hydrate with a little Pellegrino post sauna use. But yeah, I don't know, I hope, you know, hope you guys got something out of this. But it was just, you know, I'm just very passionate about sauna use and how important it is for not only detox tox behind the system, but just from overall cardiovascular health and recovery from workout from a workout and just speeding up the metabolism in general. So has so many benefits if you don't have an access to one. There are really good saunas out there, affordable saunas. You can make your own. Didn't Mitch make his own at home?
Yeah, he bought some parts and then mixed them together. But he did find a way.
Yeah, you can buy the infrared lights you can make. Funny.
Mitch just joined the.
Oh, really? Right after you said, maybe Mitch can help us out. I mean, we. You can buy the infrared lights off of Amazon and you can just get the little like, it's a hood, it's a contraption type deal. It's like a. That traps in the heat, basically.
Mitch says, you bloody bet I did.
Nice. Well, hey, if anybody has any questions, by all means, you know, put them in the comment section and I'll answer. But yeah, I hope you guys got something out of this. And definitely come visit the Hot Work Studio here in West LA if you're in the area. Cool. Take care of you. And again, this wasn't affiliate post. I'm not getting paid anything for this. I love Cool. And the facility works.
Yes. And if, if anybody's interested in the Hot Work Studio, we're franchising them throughout the United States. So they're really, they're really hot. It's a great new moneymaker if you want to be your own Boss. It's open 24 hours. Low overhead because your people are virtual, your staff is virtual. Email me at coolotworks hotworks with an x dot net and I'll share information with you. And remember, you can go to hotworx.net and look at the information, but don't email them. Email me. All right, peace out.
All right, guys. Well, thank you for stopping by again. I hope you got something out of this little Pellegrino to rehydrate and yeah, until next time.
