A short YouTube tutorial by Andy Hnilo (CEO/founder of Alitura Naturals) describing his personal shaving routine to avoid irritation and ingrown hairs. Key steps: use a pre-shave mask to lift hairs and exfoliate, apply raw aloe vera plus an Alitura moisturizer (lists botanical ingredients) for lubrication, shave with a Persona blade in a Merkur single-edge safety razor (replace roughly every three shaves), then cold-rinse and re-moisturize. He warns against using aloe gel and multi-blade cartridges (e.g., Mach 3) which he says can cause ingrown hairs.
Hey guys, how's it going? My name is Andy nilow. I'm the CEO and founder of Alatura Naturals and welcome to my YouTube channel. I wanted to go through my shaving routine today because I'm getting a lot of questions about proper shaving routine, what to use as a moisturizer, what to do before, what to do after. So here we go. I love to do a mask before I shave. This is because it lifts the tiny hairs up. I used to get so many ingrown hairs and razor bumps and just irritation from not properly exfoliating before I shave. So the mask really helps with that second thing. To allow for proper glide from the razor, I use my aloe Tora moisturizer and I use raw aloe vera. The reason the combination of those is just amazing. The moisturizer has things as botanicals like sea buckthorn oil, German blue chamomile, ylang ylang carrot seed, Australian sandalwood, royal jelly, beeswax, cacao butter, honey, just to allow for a really nice nourishing healing effect as the glade kind of slides through. Now the aloe, which is also on the moisturizer as well, just allows for a very good gliding surface for the blade. It also, the raw plant just provides lubrication that is just unmatched. Don't use the gel though. Use raw plant. The biggest thing I would say is the blade. I use a Persona blade on a Merkur single edge safety razor. So this is the blade right here. It just kind of screws on. I use a new one probably every three shaves and as you can see, just kind of put it in there, screw it on. These things are like 35 bucks on Amazon. And it just kind of just slides right through there on the surface that you provide it with. My moisturizer and the raw aloe vera plant. So the big thing here is once you're done, be very careful because that razor is extremely sharp. Once you're done, do a cold rinse to close the pores. I remoisturize with my moisturizer and then you're good to go. I used to have the worst time, the hardest time shaving using things like Mach 3, which has three of those blades that are just a lot more dull than the Personas. But also what it does is it kind of traps those hairs that were just cut and inserts them back into the skin sometimes, which leads to ingrown hairs. So there you go, those are my little tips. And contact me if you have any questions. See ya.
