The Alitura Approach: Clean Skincare for Radiant Health

Recorded webinar (YouTube) featuring Andy Hnilo (founder of Alitura) interviewed by Dr. Nasha Winters and Lynn about clean, food‑like skincare rooted in botanical ingredients and clays. Andy tells his origin story (severe injuries, recovery, DIY clay masks), explains Alitura’s formulation philosophy (avoid toxic preservatives, fragrances, SLS; emphasize bee products, clays, colostrum, copper peptides), and answers audience questions about routines, top ingredients to avoid, product use (cleanse → exfoliate → hydrate → repair), and where to buy. The session includes specific product descriptions (Gold Serum, clay mask, meteorite scrub), business notes (widely distributed; storefront), and several hyper‑specific facts.

And one of the most important things we can do is how we take care of our largest organ of absorption and elimination. And we are talking about the importance of what we put on in and around our bodies. It's so, so impactful in our skin being that largest organ. This is what plays the vital role in meeting the day to day toxins that you're exposed to. So it plays a role in detoxification your immune system and even your sense of vitality. So today you guys were in for a treat as I welcome here, Andy. Hilo. Hilo. Every time I say it, Andy, how do you say your last name?
It's Nilo. Nilo.
It's so good. I'm like, I want to just bring H's and n's and all kinds of things forward. But Andy Nilo here, founder of AL whose journey in his own natural. His own journey, you guys, which you're going to hear about in bringing forth and birthing this natural skin care was really born from resilience and a personal healing after a very, very tragic, life changing event. So rather than accept conventional sort of chemical laden solutions, Andy literally went to his own kitchen and turned nutrient dense botanicals and clays and superfoods sourced from around the world and created formulations that not only helped him, but now hundreds of thousands of people all over this globe. So Alatura is recognized globally as a leader in non toxic award winning skin care with over 111,000 customers. That's so amazing in nearly 100 countries. But more than accolades, Andy's mission is rooted in supporting skin health as an extension of whole body health. And his work highlights how clean and bioactive compounds can restore the skin barrier, promote cellular repair and enhance your confidence from the outside in. So please join me is with a warm welcome for Andy as we explore the powerful connection between metabolic health and skin health. Welcome, welcome, welcome my friend. It's great to be with you.
Oh, it's an honor to be here. Dr. Nisha Winters and everybody. Hello.
Nice jump in. I think what's most compelling is start with your own story, Andy, because it is, it's a doozy. Talk about Pat. Pain to purpose.
Yes. Well, I mean this starts back when I went to UC Berkeley on a baseball scholarship, right? I was six'2,168, had to put on weight to compete at the pack 10 level. And I just paid attention. I became a grab and turn guy at 16, 17 years old wanting to put on weight. So protein, fat, calories, Marie Callender's berry cobblers ice cream before bed in an effort to put on weight. And I put on 23 pounds of good weight, but it just wreaked havoc on my skin. Really bad case of cystic acne on my face in the worst case of back acne on my back to the point where I couldn't even turn around in my locker and have my teammates wearing me out. And it really affected my confidence. And one day I'm on an off day, I just walked down in Berkeley, California into this little herbalist store and you know, I was using clean and clear Neutrogena. I just a lot of different chemically laid skincare products. And this gentleman explained the importance of using clean ingredients. I switched from those products to Dove soap which had like five ingredients. Two of them are coconut derived surfactants. And to me, right then and there I just, it like signaled to my brain that it was natural and better for me. And so I just use that on my body, my face and my skin cleared up. The, the comments stopped happening. I swe. And then also diet wise, you know, the soft serve cheeseburgers, pizza, I went from that to like the set, the tuna salad, spinach cantaloupe and started writing up diet plans for teammates and it just, it became a passion. Barely Very early on as well as just drastically affected my confidence. Like I just, I mean it's the first thing you see in the mirror, especially if you have like clear skin. But the little like mosquito bite type, you know, cystic acne will just really affect your day. And so just from that point on I remember Dove had also had a night cream with like Rosehip Coq 10 and I put those in our night cream to this day just as like a little tribute. And those are time tested ingredients. So I just, that's, that's really where it all started. And when I was 20 years old I got my first Aztec healing clay. A little 8 ounce jar of calcium bentonite clay and just use that. I wanted to be an athlete. And when that career came to an end I moved down to la. My roommate was an actor and I was fresh out of baseball. He was auditioning for a baseball film. So I was just running lines with him as a character opposite of him. And he got me a lead in that role. Long story short, well, got me an audition. I ended up booking the lead in that role, got representation through that and began my career as an actor. And then that slowly came to halt. March 20, 2011. I was crossing the street, got hit by westbound heading Land Rover hitting the eastbound lane, run over by a tundra, clothes cut off me in the middle of the street and woke up at Cedarsina ICU with a compound fracture of my jaw, seven broken ribs, collapsed lung but alive but just completely unrecognizable. My front three teeth were gone, jaw wired shut. So I was just in a daze from the CT scan, monthly X rays, see how the bones growing back. But during that time by then I had that calcium bentonite clay. Let me skip back to that. So it's one ingredient rather than order Aztec healing clay. I was just googling around calcium bentonite. I ran into back then it was greenclays.net Jason Eton, bless his heart, he's written books on clays now it's like Mineralsolutions us but they, you know, I found out about zeolite paraphylite. I like kaolin Moroccan raw. So clay and you know clays are affordable. So I just, I ordered them all and you know I called him on the phone, he kind of just explained the benefits of internal cleansing bentonite and zeolite. And so I you know, experimented with that. But I also just started compiling like this little just DIY mask at home that I would do every Sunday night before a week of audition. So I had that in my back pocket when I came home because I couldn't afford the creams and serums that the doctors were recommending that I use to counteract the scarring and abrasions that I had. And so in that process, I was like, all right, so I'm going to create some micro circulation of the surface of the skin. And I'm trying to put myself in the mindset back then because I didn't know what I know now, but it just theoretically made sense to me, but at the same time mitigated that swelling. My jaw was out to here every day. If there's an incremental, you know, like if I look a little bit better, it just made me feel good. And again, this is just touches back on confidence and just feel good about yourself before you leave the door, which is just all I wanted was my. My zest back, you know, it's amazing what antibiotics will do to the system. And so I, I went around job wired shut, just trying to, you know, picking the brains of George Lamroux from Jing Herbs, Ron Teagarden from Dragon Herbs, Sage Dammers Truth Calkins, Crosby Ware, Sweet people that helped me just build my system back from the inside out. I made this morning tonic with egg yolks, bison liver, Hoshi Wu, ashwagandha, schisandra spirulina. It didn't taste that good, but I was revitalizing my system from the inside out and I started experimenting with some of those ingredients. A lot of things didn't work, but I got the pearl powder, American ginseng, organic kale powder, and colostrum that, that basically rounded out like this superfood mineralizing meal for the skin. And then, you know, it's a very long story made short, but that, that ended up being our alter clay mask. But that that happened because I started listening to Dave Asprey from Bulletproof Coffee. I love his attention to detailed ingredients like single heirloom cacao pods. And just I troubleshooted his email address, wanted to thank him for his products because I never drank coffee before that. And you know, you can imagine, you know, hopping into a bulletproof coffee. I mean, it just really accelerated my recovery and motivated me to get out of bed, get in that gym, go on walks and just. I just really appreciated his products. And one of those emails got through. His email is EA got back to me and they brought me on board as an ambassador for the pro for bulletproof. And so I was like taking, you know, pictures. And this was never intended to be a business, but I Was like taking a picture with my mask on bulletproof products. And um, he had me on his podcast February 1, 2014, and the, you know, first 45 minutes on going back and forth with like, you know, my, you know, it's just such an honor to be across from Dave and you know, how I recovered with his products. And then he asked what I did for my skin and I was kind of slightly horrified for a millisecond, but started going in on the clays and what I use and why I use them. And he's like, that's interesting. You know, we didn't talk about this beforehand. And he got such a response from that podcast, so did I. And I flew down, partnered up and had a product in the store three months later and then basically just kept the same attention to detail. This was never planned. So people, you know, luckily love the clay mask. It was a little earthy, but you can just add a little, you know, essential oil to it to assist in the aromatherapy. But just slowly but surely, people, you know, what do I follow with the moisturizer and using that same ingredient purity. I mean, ideally you nailed it right from the start. Like your skin being your largest organ, I just firmly believe you need to treat it like another mouth. Now back in 2014, that's like it doesn't matter. I mean the first five, six years going through that, you know, the natural now, it's, it's great you have brands like Amari, Gianni, Madeleine Strum, but it's a short list. So I mean, you mentioned it. Your skin is meant to detoxify what's inside. Why would you ever rub, you know, a trace element of any government recognized carcinogen disrupting that process? I, I just firmly believe that that's, that's part of the problem. But you last, yeah, what, two years ago? Just, I mean, that big circle of sodium benzoate, it's just we need people like you. Shouting from the mountaintops. I mean, fragrance, sodium benzoate, unnecessary toxic fillers and emulsifiers and surfactants and fragrance are the biggest culprits. I believe in personal care products and something that you're doing daily. I mean, there's a study that on average, average women leave the house with 160 government recognized carcinogens with 10 products. You know, with hairspray, perfume, deodorant, makeup, lipstick, with that entry point, you know, it's just we have to pay attention. Luckily, I mean, here we are, 2025, like people are going towards that direction, but we can control that as formulators, down to the packaging. And it's just something that, you know, I'm glad I didn't have a business plan going into this. Didn't have any partners tell me organic. I didn't know what profit was. I didn't even know my goods going into. I'm just working with Dave. All right. Get an opportunity to provide value to someone else. And they like a product that you made. And we've just kept that mindset to this day. And it's obviously the knowledge has grown. I meet people like you and you find out about certain ingredients and I just, you know, I love what I do. And we can control that as formulators. You know, Alex is Latin for feeding, nourishing. Your skin being your largest organ. You know, we have to really protect it with what we put on top of it, down to everything. I mean, just grab and turn. Make sure those first three to five ingredients aren't just the predictable synthetics that so many companies are okay with putting in there. And I just, that's an opportunity to just create poetry. Grab, turn. And this. You see the eyebrows raise and the smiles come. They pump it out and it's just, you know, nature can provide us with everything that we need. I firmly believe that.
So evolved with that. And you know, Andy, I think one of the coolest things is, first of all, what strikes me about you is what 16 year old boy, and we've talked about this before, like what six year old boy would even be thinking in these ways? Like, you definitely had a gift coming into this world. You definitely had a different lens of how to see the world. So I just really appreciate that, that you had a lot of that awareness on board. So when something really, really life altering literally ran you over, you know, you, you didn't get pushed down with it, you actually moved through it. And how incredible. Like, just like, I mean, you guys listen to this man's persistence of just thinking, hey, I want to give gratitude to someone who shared with, you know, shared something that's helping me. And yet it turned back entirely. I mean, my gosh, there's, you know, especially Dave Asprey's world. It's almost like everything he's touched in the biohacker community has turned to gold. And you having that relationship brought very important things together. One of the coolest things I think about your story is you talk about all these amazing influencers, these amazing herbalists, these amazing, you know, nutritionists that had influence in your life, but you really did start with creating something in your own kitchen and sort of had a few friends try them on for size. And I mean, can you talk about like, how did. I mean, you talk about your own story of how you, this, this company came to be. But I love those early moments when it was still in your kitchen before it's moved into where it is now. Walk us through like your, your, those starting days, like this moment when suddenly you've got Dave Asprey putting you out into millions of people in the world. You're still in your kitchen at that time, correct?
Yes. Yeah. 660 square foot apartment. Moved everything out of my bedroom into my living room. Made my bedroom my lab. I mean I had clays everywhere. Cacao butter, beeswax, manuka honey. Made my night cream out of a cast iron pan with beeswax sea buckthorn oil. Learned about the water side. Just, I mean there's a lot of information out there, especially when you're doing something for yourself as far as healing. And I, I just, I don't know, I guess I have like a feel for what works and what doesn't, meaning like Tamanu Argan oil, like the highly marketed essential oils. But I, I just had a feel for sea buckthorn, which is one of nature's highest sources in omega 7. Very rare macadamia is another one. But I, I just, it was a total creative outlet for me and I, you know, I had roommates at the time who just, but it was just, it was a lot of fun. Just, it did all start in my kitchen and sourcing ingredients and then putting together products and then just trying on myself. And I have very reactive, sensitive skin. So I feel that helps, you know, kind of eliminate certain things that would be helpful for pretty much the majority of the population. But just, you know, Dave really gave me an opportunity to kind of just as a creative outlet, put together ingredient decks that my, you know, like dream team, like deck of ingredients to this day. And that's just, that's just what I love to do, you know.
And you are so impeccable with your curating of these ingredients. This is something where you and I resonated is that I'm always explaining to people everything you put in on and around you, including people, places and things matters. And one of the biggest places we actually have control over is what we put into our mouths and what we put onto our bodies. And so Andy, your, your, your, your company is bring important resource. People ask me all the time, what do you use? What do you put on your body? And After I learned about you. In fact, I learned about you myself through a Dave Asprey monthly box back in the day when I used to get his monthly boxes. And one of your products, I think it was your clay mask, showed up in that first box. But since then, I. I am a person who uses your mask once a week. I use your gold serum every single morning, which I'm addicted to, by the way. I'm almost out. I can't wait I'm going to see you because I, I need a lot back up. And then my night cream. That thick. Amazing. And you could, I swear to God, you guys, you'll want to take it out and just eat it. And you could. This is the beauty of what you created, Andy. So I'm just this, this person who has incredibly sensitive skin. Incredibly sensitive skin. And I react to everything. Even people say it's perceived as the best, best quality. And honestly, closest to food as possible is the only thing that works on my skin. And what you've created, Andy, is just that you could almost sit down and have it as a meal.
Yes. I mean, well, the thing is, is getting, getting on the same page with chemists and your co packers, meeting them face to face. We have, I mean, we have our own section. It's all customer supplied. They're all really close friends of mine and they know that it's just, we're even down to like the active ingredient, even a decimal point of something that on the inky that is going to show up on my label, it's gone. I mean, even if it performs a little bit better than something that's, you know, pure, it just, it just. We want to be known as that, like the, the brand you can trust forever. And it's fun. Right now as we're formulating like an eyeball to kind of stack with the night cream. Oh, it's. Yeah. With the high percentage copper peptide rose quartz, pearl powder. Yeah, it's. Yeah, it's. It's exciting. It's. You know, I'm really taking this as a, you know, a big opportunity to just show a lot about what, what I'm about and same time help people just feel better about themselves and what they see in the mirror. Knowing that they can trust and pretty much get, you know, get close to eating all of our products, you know, body moisturizer. I mean, just to use it in confidence, knowing that I'm the one front and center that formulated that for them. I think, I think we need that.
These days, you know, and you know, I think why we've got these, you know, this group of listeners now who are here live, as well as the folks who will be listening to this later and in the future. I really want you to help people understand, like what is the most typical. Maybe talk about the five most common ingredients in skin care products that we should absolutely be steering clear of because you have become an expert in this as well. And this is what I heard you lecture on at a conference a couple of years ago as well, is, is like these are the, these are the, the labels. Like you said when you talked about that. When he says pick up and turn, that's literally picking up a product, looking at the label and realizing you need to put it right back down. So, Andy, what would you say are the biggest things people need to be aware of and avoid?
Like the plague, Toxic preservative, sodium benzoate, fragrance, sodium laureth sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate, the unnecessary foaming agents, I believe also the alcohol. A lot of people have gluten sensitivity. So we, you know, if we do use it, it's organic cane sugar, sometimes grapes, potato. But, you know, down to the grain alcohol, that's often not organic. Glycerin, which is 99% of the time soy based, which is an estrogenic compound that, you know, we can control that too. They have flaxseed glycerin now sunflower seed. Go organic, go above and beyond, then tell the story about what you did and why and what you left out. We all appreciate that, right? But yeah, I would say fragrance, parabens, phthalates, dyes, yellow 5, yellow 6. Why? I mean, you can get that. It just takes a little bit longer. But through light, gold oils, beeswax, propolis, manuka, honey, you can get such a beautiful color and emulsion through pressure, through air, through heat, through temperature. You can get the consistency without the shelf stable for three or four years. I'd rather nine to 12 months is just fine if you didn't use it in that time. And I didn't do much my job, I just. There's a way you can go about everything and then just tell people what you did out. We appreciate that. You know, down to the microplastics, we're using biophotonic glass from Meron from the Netherlands, that only allows a good violet light that mitigates the oxidation of. Originally made for tomato paste and olive oil. But I thought that I liked it for the sleek glass packaging. Then I got put on, put to school on the benefits of it and just what it does to enhance the formula of natural ingredients and products. So I thought that'd be a perfect packaging option. And now other people are using it, which is great. And there's just a way you gotta have a deep passion for it. And I'm, I just, you know, I'm lucky. I fell into this and didn't really have a business mind for this. And I was just trying to heal myself and get back into the entertainment industry and look at, I can't imagine doing anything else truly. And you know, from clothing that we wear to socks on our extremities, I mean we just got to pay attention to everything that touches such a porous organ like our skin and hair help and all that.
Yeah. Things we never ever. I mean, just think it wasn't that long ago, right. When our recent ancestors. So I always talk about the Little House on the Prairie days when you might have bathed once a week and you shared the same bath water with your family and your siblings and you weren't using any detergents on your skin at that time. It was, you know, very tallow based soap, soaps made from animal fat and lard. Right. And very, very judicious at the amount that we used. And we were really using more like scrubbing and scouring versus stripping of those natural oils. We've gotten so far from that. I mean, so, so far. I mean, you, you know these statistics like what are the typical. What's the. I think I heard some statistic about the number of chemicals that a woman on. An average woman walks out of the house of every morning just from their morning. Do you remember that number?
It's 160.
Gosh.
160.
Wow. Wow.
The aerosol. I mean, yeah. Hairspray, perfume, lipstick, deodorant, makeup. You know, I just getting down to natural pigments. Makeup's a big one. That's probably our third biggest question that we get organic. Do you have any recommendations? And I'd love to partner with them, just kind of forward them that way. But it's just. Yeah, I'm glad we're having this conversation. And, and the be that people are becoming more open to it, you know, because the first, you know, few years, you know, it wasn't talked about as much as it's talked about now. And it's people like yourself that are really bringing it to the surface. It can help me explain it a little bit more. I just have a huge passion for cleanliness and it's something we can control with coas, msds. And then also getting on Board with trusted chemists. I mean, I have seven different chemists and it's just.
Yeah, it's alchemist who you've brought on board because, you know, chemistry sort of assumes synthetic.
Right.
Process. You guys are working with natural substances through and through.
Yes.
Bringing on alchemy for this. So that's what I think is super cool. And you just keep bringing, you just keep pushing the bar higher and you're pushing the industry to reach for a higher bar. And you being part of like when people say what do you use? We refer to you a lot. That's why we're so excited you're coming to this conference, that you're coming to show another way to take care of the terrain is through what you're putting on your body. You guys are going to meet this beautiful shining light in person or you know, you know, on the virtual as well. But I want folks to be able to start to ask you some direct questions because we've got this window of time. Maybe talk up maybe a few about your product lines, about, you know, some of the main ones. I just mentioned the three that I use regularly, but you guys have a lot more than that. So maybe open it up to questions. But what do you think, Lynn? Or are we getting some folks looking for some specifics? Maybe this is a great time for Andy's to open up. Like what are your top, your top sellers and maybe what would be the ideal client for each one of those? I would love to hear about your.
Product line and you know, what, what makes these products unique. Tell me a little bit about how you formulate it because I know you put a lot of care and concern into every single product you develop. And so I would love to give people a little glimpse into the, the gold, literally gold that you put into each of your products and what makes them unique and wonderful.
Yeah. Well, all right, so we'll start with the Gold Serum. And I didn't want to use a water base. We're using organic Bulgarian rose water, B propolis frankincense, sandalwood rose oil and then an active base of copper peptide plant derived vitamin A, which is a potent retinol alternative that we source from France. It's organic alfalfa derived marine collagen, CoQ10 and then astaxanthin. Keep in mind, I formulated this in late 2016. I think we released it in 2017. But it's just, you know, going to kind of against the grain. Every, you know, filler or opportunity with water is just a chance to kind of use something that's healing. And I, I just, I. I love to go, you know, just not have any throwaway ingredients, any. Any fillers. I mean, I just think you can, I know you can get that through. Beautiful elements. Bee products are huge propolis pollen, royal jelly, beeswax and honey. Obviously we have a family that holistically raises bee products in Haleiwa, Hawaii that I've become very close friends with over the time, over the. Over my career formulating. And they make our moisturizer, body lotion, angels, mist night cream and gold serum. It's just so Gold serum is our number one seller. Our meteorite scrubs getting really popular. I know taking the time to mix a clay mask and be a little much for some people. So we wanted something that's ceremony.
Andy, what you're having people do with the mask is a ceremony for themselves. It's so beautiful if you do it right.
It's almost like a little sound bowl too. I love that you said that. So our meteorite scrub. So we're using like a tri level exfoliant system with rounded exfoliants, olive and cherry pit, California poppy seed to gently exfoliate the dead skin cells and then allow the alpha hydroxy acids to encourage the growth of new fresh skin. We're using mandelic acid, volvic hyaluronic and lactic acid. Bamboo. It just. Yeah. It's a powerful exfoliation and a little niacinamide to brighten the skin as well. No toxic preservatives. We're using a lactobacillus fermentation with coconut and dye. Conrad ish Echo cert approved. And they're coming out with really good oleoresins through ginger and rosemary. That's great. They're making organic preservatives now. I mean they're. Yeah. So. Yes. And so it's just. Yeah. The body lotion that in the beginning the, the sourcing. Because I was. That's where you and I kind of bonded originally. It was the taxing component from something like on, you know, you tip the u. I just felt that, you know, at a cellular level, you know, just healing, mitigating inflammation and just telling the story of why you added that to it. It has a mild exfoliant effect to it. I just love ingredients. It's something. It's like baseball statistics and you know, lyrics from songs that you love. It's something that really does stick and it's a big passion of mine and it's a such a big beautiful world out there that you Know, with so many ingredients that we haven't found out about yet. And the mistletoe, that's. I love that you touch on that. Yeah, yeah, that, that could be something as well. But right now, just looking into carnosic acid from Clary, sage, rosemary, and then getting into oleoresins, the paste, the blue lotus, the trace minerals and. And products for the. We're getting into hair now as well and just health and. Yeah, just, just getting it. It's just, it's. It's. It's just different. We. We don't want to go synthetic. I'd rather go natural and with, you know, from top to bottom on our ingredient decks with all of our products.
So one of the cool things here is, you know, when as I, I'm. I. But I'm really a very simple person. Like, I have. I hate like, skincare routines. The thing. I don't color my hair. I don't do any modifying of anything. I am as simple as it gets. And so as a woman of a certain age now who's crossed across the menopause bridge, I started to think I better start doing a little bit something more to my skin. And so I started playing with a bunch of different products out there. And what I'm loving about your product line is it seems like it's also universal and sort of, oh, gosh, almost adaptogenic. Whether you're, you know, a teenager dealing with cystic acne or a 20 something with their hormonal, you know, changes to a 50 something dealing with postmenopausal changes, your product line seems quite universal and adaptive to whomever, whomever the user is. Am I like, is that true? Because I don't hear you ever advertise like, oh, this is for young skin or mature skin or, you know, the hormonal skin. Like you, your ingredients seem to modulate what's going on for the individual.
Well, I just, I think that's. I've always thought that was kind of a big marketing thing, you know, combination oily, dry versus, you know, mature. I, I just, I thought that creates a little customer confusion, you know, and I, I just, I'd rather just knock it out of the park with one. And you're right, it does. I just firmly believe that, you know, our biology and our skin is. Is our skin, but without, you know, having to use any predictable synthetics and any toxins, I think it's for the most part universal. From at any ages and we have customers and you know, from, you know, teenagers to people in their, you know, in their 90s using our products. And I just tell the story of the ingredients and just the toxins that you left out by design and because they just don't serve the skin. And we all appreciate that as consumers going above and beyond with formulation and then just making sure it's powerfully effective too. That that's the main part. As clean as I can make them obviously result oriented industry. So it has to work.
You know, one of the cool things, I mean there's a couple things you mentioned that just think for the listeners here, this is so amazing. When he mentioned the Pacific U tree. That's one of the ingredient, you know, in some of these ingredients we have actually known. In fact we make taxanes in the chemotherapy world is a chemotherapy drug that we make to treat a lot of cancers out there. And topically there's a product called Beck 5 or Curoderm out of other parts of the world that's a topical Pacific U tree. And so what Andy's done is like brought in that element into is is like a natural ongoing anti cancer agent. Which I know he can't say that and can't put it on the label but it's very well known we've used it pharmaceutically in the treatment of skin cancers. And then he also mentioned using things like niacinamide or niacin which brings that little healthy flush. There's actually loads of data about the use of niacinamide as a treatment and prevention of skin cancer of basil cell and squamous cell carcinoma. So easy to go into PubMed and type in niacinamide and skin cancer and see that it's actually something we use to treat. So I love that that's just brought in and he's bringing it on for bringing on like a circulatory effect, bringing the end, you know, bringing the capillary flow to the surface and really giving that little natural flush which is really, really powerful that you bring up that. And then you brought up Manuka honey and holy shmoly pants. I have worked in environments where we used Manuka honey alone for non healing wounds for like diabetic ulcers or wounds from you know, surgeries where the scar, what they call dehist or opened up and it wouldn't quite close. We would make packs with Manuka honey. And so these are the types of things that the ingredients that he's using are, are ancient wisdom that has actually been modernized and well studied. And so you're like also reminding us to things that our Great grandmother, our great great grandmothers used for millennia. And you're bringing that into like a modern lens and you're packaging it in such a way that it's very, you know, kind of sexy and sort of, you know, sophisticated. But you're really just reminding us of something that we've co evolved with, with the products that you bring forth.
Thank you. And there's so much more. Frankincense myrrh. We're finding out. I'm working with Rafi from Omeco Organica, who I knew of in 2008, 2009. Oh, he puts me. We talk for no less than 30 minutes every time we're on the phone. We're working on the hair care products right now. But boswellic acid from frankincense, myrrh, Blue Lotus. It's very hard to source these things. But he's been militant about it since. He's a pioneer in the game and I'm lucky to have been put in contact with him. And we're both learning from each other a little bit for me. But it's a lot of fun. Fun though. I mean, you have to be aligned with that. And I have a deep passion just for creating and also like a, like a tribute to time tested alchemy that you touched on. I mean that's what they were using way back, Beeswax olive oil as a carrier. But it's just. Yeah, it's loaded and trace minerals. It moisturizes very well and mixes and works very well with other essential oils that we use. I love chamomile. Again, seabock, thorny langy language. Calendula carrot seed. There's just. Yeah, they, they are. And also they have a beautiful aroma to them as well. But I just. Now we're getting into the boswellic acid, like I mentioned, carnosic and just creating something internal. We have a product called Curandera, which is Spanish for healer. Yeah, yeah. Adaptogenic tonic with 7% temoquinine from black seed oil.
Wow.
2% is a pretty good 7 in, in our formula. So it's just, I, we. I'd like to get in to. You know, I, I think we have, you know, the topical stuff nailed and we'll continue with that obviously. But. Oh, it's be such a dream to help out internally as well with those vital internal organs, kidney, liver, pancreas, heart. And that's next, I believe.
But it's just you've been busy, Andy, since I've last seen you. So moving into hair care, moving into Some internal supplementation, more topicals in addition to your tried and true line already. I want to make sure that we've got moments for any other questions here for him because you guys are going to see him in person. Are you gonna be able to do some demo and have people be able to try some of your goodies at the conference?
Absolutely, absolutely yes. And I can't wait to meet you all too.
Yeah, we do have a question in the chat. So what's good for aging skin wrinkles and brown spots?
I would go a good at least once a week exfoliation. I mean the clay mask, what it has is bentonite first four hour milking, grass fed colostrum organic kelp powder which is vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin K, sodium alginate is really nutrient dense. The trace trace minerals and freshwater pearl powder just really help create an even skin tone and subtly exfoliate that you know, over time Breton Nation mentioned just bringing the micro circulation of the surface of the skin while exfoliating to kind of getting those stagnant capillaries kind of brightening that area and also mitigating any puffiness. And you know the can kind of be a culprit of under eye circles as well. So I highly recommend the clay mask for that or the meteorite scrub and then following with a good nutrient dense healing moisturizer. Whether it's my Amerigian, I don't want to like just say it's only me. Amerigiani has very good products too, but just yeah, staying consistent with cleanse, exfoliate, hydrate repair. I, I believe before bed a good thick nutrient dense healing night cream. I mean before you're in one position for hours, that's a really good thing to, to do. But not just we wanted something with our night cream. It's just a little, goes a very long way. I don't mind a little dewy residue and, and you wake up just knowing that it's been healing and hydrating when you've been in one position for hours. So I, I would highly recommend exfoliating at least a couple times a week. And then post exfoliation, cold rinse to close the pores and then following with a good healing moisturizer and then just staying consistent with that routine. I know it can get a little over the top of so many serums and products and, and that, that's, believe me, I'm, I, I, that's what I do. But I, I get a little wordy sometimes so I want to keep it simple, just cleanse exfoliate, hydrate, repair. But just be mindful of the ingredients because sometimes I believe that can kind of be the culprit and accelerate the aging process when you're using the wrong stuff. Just Uka Yuka is a great app. What you can do is scan the UPC product and get a 0 through 100 rating on the cleanliness of your products. Think Dirty is another good one. But you just grab scan the barcode and they'll tell you exactly what's in it and what you know. Sodium benzoate, phenoxy, ethanol, potassium sorbate. Natural fragrance is not often not natural.
Exactly.
Yeah, exactly.
I know there's a couple other questions popping up here. Where first of all, I think Shannon, I think it was answered by Lynn here. Alatura.com is where you can find his products. But you also carry them. Are they just on your website or do you carry them any other places?
And Amazon and we have a couple hundred wholesalers retailers just around the world. But our site Amazon and we have a store here in Sedona, Arizona if anybody's local. I would love to meet you and come by anytime. Hunter Verde Valley school road, suite 112.
Oh, that's so cool. So you do have a storefront. I didn't know that. Warned me.
Yes.
I love it. John asks how do you emulsify your products? Because they are amazingly. They stay and I've, you know, been in hot and cold climates and humid dry climates and they have holding power. You guys have some magic mojo there. So how do you guys emulsify?
It depends on the product. But with our pro cleanser, that's the one where we use but it's organic. Sunflower seed, glycerin, pearl powder, tremella mushroom, marshmallow root. Through different temperatures and air, we're able to get a nice format. But also the meron glass really does a good job of not separating sometimes it does. It's natural. We didn't, you know, so just shake it up. But with beeswax. Cacao butter. Those are my favorites. Manuka honey. And I won't stray from those tallow I thought about. But way back in 2015 I was so gung ho on getting into whole foods, but it was on this restricted ingredient list so I had to take that out. But I don't know if I'll be adding that back. I may. Some people talk. It's just I. Some people also are a little hesitant with with that. Emu oil was another one that I was thinking of.
But especially emu yeah, yeah, I wanted. You're. You're thinking because you are more plant forward with your company instead of, you know, any animal product forward. Correct.
Right. But we do use Colostrum I. But it's collected, the calves are fed first and just the surplus is collected and dried and that's what we use. It's collected within the first four hours. Matter of fact, after six, the nutrient density just slides down the scale. A lot of the most popular brands right now are using, you know, collected within the first 24 hours, which is just a decimal point of the nutrient density that it is within the first six. So that, yeah, Colostrum is. Yeah, it's an animal based ingredient. And then also the bee products are. They make it not vegan. But I love them. They're so molecularly complex antifungal, antibacterial, antimicrobial that it's almost like a self preservative when combined with the mirror on glass. So yeah, it's through different temperatures and air. You can get any emulsion. I get asked about that all the time. It takes a lot of work, but you got to be on board with your chemist and you can get it. Yeah, as a matter of fact, you should. I don't know if you ever let this happen, but in the, if you leave it in the car too much heat, it like separates. You get to see like side by.
Side all the different ingredients, like the stacking of it. Lynn's going to keep going with people who have got some extra questions I have to take off, but I am so looking forward to being with you next week. I'm so glad that you have brought your, your passion. It's so contagious, your, your energy around this and it's really fun that people get access to more ways to support their, their skin health, which is just as integral to all the other things we put our attention to. So, Andy, thank you. Lynn will be here to answer everybody else's questions. And for those who joined us live, thank you. Looking forward to connecting more in the future. So see you soon.
Andy, thank you so much for this. We, we do have several people online and a lot of people who weren't able to join us but signed up for the webinar. And so just to kind of close out, just wanted to give you a chance to kind of share, you know, again where people can find you, you know, what you'll be sharing in Tucson with us at the Metabolic Health Day conference so that they can come and see you and, and just learn more. About the great work that you're doing.
Yeah. Well, thank everybody for. For stopping. I want to thank everybody for stopping by Our website's alura.com a l I t u r a dot com. I'm also on Instagram. I'm all over the customer service and messages. So if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them there or here. And yeah, I just, you know, you know, really am doing my best to spread the word about not only our company, but other people that are doing it right. The pioneers living libations eminence. So people started it off. I mean they didn't have all those predictable synthetics and toxic ingredients centuries ago. And I believe that's really where some of the most effective healing like used in ceremony, ingredients using ceremony really started. So I really have a deep, deep passion for the ancient Egyptian and ways of doing things. And wherever you go in this world, you really especially. It's a common conversation start what do you do for a living? And it kind of becomes obvious within a few seconds once I just tell my story about how I got into this. But people read that and it only like nine times out of ten you'll get like a little introduction and find out about something new. Peruvian kantuta flower or mastic out in Greece or different remedies that different cultures are using. And it's just, it's just very interesting to me. Then I order them, tried it out on myself. And now you have a story to tell. I was just in Morocco. I got, I got to meet my source for the rasool plate. Got to buy a liter of the rose oil and Valley of the roses right down from daddy. It's gorge and like, it's just. Yeah, I just really love what I do. And it's, it's fun to meet other cultures and just combine different remedies and just tell the story of what you did and just not go the. The normal route a little outside of the box, if that makes sense.
Yeah, for sure. I love it.
I love it. And you know, again, your. Your commitment to sourcing the best ingredients to create the optimal benefit for what you're trying to achieve is really, really commendable. I did have someone that asked about your fragrance.
Yes.
They want to learn more about the fragrance.
Okay. So. All right. When I that over 100 revisions on that formula, they just, they used to put the notes and then started eating away. There's only so much kind of coffee can do to clear the palette. But I, I got my dream formula. I used to. I grew up collecting, you know, colognes and fragrances. Wanted to have like a medicine cabinet like my dad's and so I, I just wanted to create like a nice aroma that's unisex ideally and we got that. I do want to touch that. It's 75% organic filtered water but it's a synthetic oil blend. But it's without the phthalates, parabens, mineral oil, dyes. It's not essential oil based but it's echocert approved. EWG just took it on board. It passed all the testing. Gluten free alcohol. I, hundreds of people who have never been able to use fragrance are okay with it. I just, it's as clean as I can make like that with that luxury like scent with that staying power without using any harsh toxins. So I just want to touch on that. We are using but like a custom fragrant blend and that was early on in my career. If I do go that route again, I will do my best to go organic essential oils but sometimes it's just early on it was just such like a cool process to go through. But I just want to share that I did make, you know, it is 75% organic gluten free, no phthalates, parabens and it just, it's my favorite without question. I get stopped all the time and we, that's probably the biggest storyteller that we get on emails about that just through word of mouth. I mean it's just amazing because fragrance is so personal a little bit and the fact that it, you know, moves pretty well online without even testing it and gets returned under 2% is a lot of fun and women and men just let the customer decide. It's for everyone. So bottle of maroon glass.
Are you going to have samples, I'm assuming you're going to have some samples of things with you at the conference.
Absolutely, absolutely, yeah.
Fantastic. Well, again I want to thank everybody for joining us. If you're not joining us until Tucson, there's still an opportunity. You can visit Metabolic HealthDay Life and take a look there and purchase your ticket. We also have a virtual option and again we're going to be. We've recorded this conversation and so you'll be able to access this. But. But yeah, find Andy and you know Alatura Online and if you have any questions directly for him, I know he's very responsive and would love to connect with you. So Andy, again, thank you for being here. Thank you. I cannot wait to see you in Tucson. Everyone else have a great day.
Thank you.
