German New Medicine & Emotional Healing: How the Body Mirrors the Mind
2 Dec 2025 · 43 min
In this episode of Reclaim Your Inner Rockstar, host Amy Robinson (aromapsychologist and cognitive coach) interviews long‑time wellness practitioner Melissa, a Root Cause Healing Coach. The conversation opens with Melissa’s personal backstory—growing up in a health‑focused yet emotionally tense household, opening a gym, and noticing that two women following identical health regimens experienced vastly different outcomes, including cancer. This discrepancy sparked Melissa’s search for a deeper explanation, leading her to discover German New Medicine (GNM). She explains GNM’s core premise: symptoms are purposeful biological programs triggered by unresolved emotional conflicts from early‑life events, and that changing the meaning of those conflicts can turn symptoms off. Amy connects this to her own work in aromapsychology and cognitive‑behavioral tools, emphasizing that when the mind is resourced the body can relax. They discuss the role of resistance, ownership, compassionate curiosity, and how to avoid self‑blame while taking 100 % responsibility for one’s healing. The dialogue also covers practical aspects of coaching—energetic boundaries, pricing, and the importance of money as energy—followed by a detailed description of Melissa’s hybrid “Healing Haven” program (group somatic sessions plus private “Root and Release” work) and Amy’s upcoming live event on emotional regulation. Throughout, spiritual framing (Bible verses, Christian faith) intertwines with the mind‑body model. The episode concludes with a call to action for women leaders in their 30s‑50s to join Amy’s membership or Melissa’s coaching, reinforcing that health and calling need not be mutually exclusive.

Hey, beautiful souls.
Welcome to Reclaim Your Inner Rockstar, the space for high-capacity leaders who lead boldly yet often feel overstimulated beneath the surface. I'm Amy Robinson, aromapsychologist and cognitive coach with more than 25 years of helping others find emotional clarity through scent and science. My work began when I realized scent could instantly shift my thoughts and regulate my entire inner world. And I knew women like me needed access to that same power. Each week you will receive grounded tools and conversations that help you steady your nervous system and think more clearly. Are you ready to feel like yourself again? Then you're in the right place.
Welcome back to my episode, beautiful souls. Today's conversation is such a gem. I'm talking with my sister friend Melissa, who's been in the wellness and mind-body space for over 20 years, and we're pulling back the curtain on something both of us see all the time: women doing everything right, eating well, moving their bodies, praying, serving, leading, and still their body breaks down. We're going to talk about why that happens, how your perception becomes biology, why German New Medicine took the fear out of symptoms for her, and how this ties beautifully with what I also teach in aromapsychology and cognitive behavioral therapy— that when the mind is resourced, the body can relax. And listen, if you're that woman, the leader, the coach, the spiritually responsible one, the one everybody calls, and your nervous system, hormones, or emotions are starting to say, we can't hold this pace, I want you to reach out. These are exactly the women I'm working with right now in my transformation membership. If you're curious to work with Melissa, check out all the information for either working with me or Melissa in the show notes today. All right, let's get into this heart-filled, layered conversation with Melissa.
Melissa, I'm so excited to have you on with me today. I cannot wait to have this conversation with you, and I cannot wait to get to know you, because even though we know each other, we're getting to know each other on a deeper level. I'm just so grateful that you said yes to coming on here and sharing your heart with this beautiful audience. Let's start by asking you Can you share your story and what really led you to this deeper mind-body work that you've been doing for over 20 years in this wellness space?
Please share. Thank you so much. Let me just take the opportunity to thank you. This takes a lot of resources, time, money to bring people on a podcast and share because you love people and wanna bring 'em to this new place. Happier space. So thank you so much for having me too. That means a lot to me. And okay. So what brought me to this space? I think everyone who steps into this kind of healing space, it all has a part. So I was raised in, I would say, a JW hippie family. My mom was very into wellness. Do you remember those 3,000-page encyclopedias, heal-at-home books?
Yes.
Whatever ailment.
I think my mother had one. My mother had one too.
She'd be like, you have a fever, you need an enema. You have a sore throat, you need this leaf tea concoction. I'm very grateful to my mom cuz I was already raised with that lens of what can your body do with a little support from what made here on this planet. So I was raised in that space, but I was also raised in an emotionally tense home. I think I was from a very little girl, always paying attention, always trying to absorb everything. Now we've learned it's all just survival mechanisms. We're just trying to make it through. So in my early 20s, my mom and I got into the fitness space. We opened a gym, had a gym for 5 years. In that fitness world, it was nutrition, losing weight, and exercising. But I kept seeing things that didn't make sense to me. 2 women doing the exact same things and getting totally different results. And I always had all these doubts. I'm teaching this stuff, but it doesn't seem to be true across the board. So if something's not true across the board, then what gives? There's something missing, right? That's kind of how I got into the wellness space in 2001, opening a gym. And I've been in different facets of it ever since.
That's so beautiful. The thing that stood out to me is what you said. 2 different women doing the same thing but getting different results. That's powerful to me. I can't wait to hear more about that because that helps me to see there's deeper level stuff going on here, which I can relate to because you and I have very similar— my mother, she's always had that thing in her, so I can relate to you in that. You mentioned in your foreword about a missing piece. That really perked my interest because I work with the psyche too. I love Hearing different women's perspectives of what they've discovered about that missing piece. What shifted when you began exploring that healing through that lens?
Yeah, thank you. And thank you also for doing this work, cuz it's so important. It is for sure the missing piece. Two people doing the same thing, getting different results. I was about 23 years old. We had a gym in this one town and there was this couple who had a gym an hour from us. We were business buddies. This couple was incredible. They were the fittest people I'd ever met. They ate healthy, hadn't had a piece of sugar in 18 years. Their bodies were gorgeous. And they were so positive. They had the positive thinking element too. And boom, they both got cancer. And I remember thinking, that can't be an accident. Can't be that they both randomly genetically from totally different families, just cancer at the same time, just because their body is wacky. And I think at about 23, I started doubting everything. They don't even eat sugar. How do they get cancer? So I just started having all of these questions. I only had access to what we had at that time, right? Was to just think positive and eat healthy and exercise. And the rest is basically just kind of written in the stars. So as Time went on and years went by. I just kept searching, what gives here? And one night it was like 1 or 2 in the morning. I stumbled across this random blog post and it was about the rules of cancer. Why would a body grow extra cells and why in that organ? And I just read it. And when you read something and you just immediately boom. Oh yeah. You get it and you're, oh my gosh, that's the first thing I've ever read about cancer that makes any sense to me. I didn't even know what I was reading though. I just thought it was so one guy's blog and then I stumbled across something else a month later. I was like, okay, I have to learn more about this. As we talk, we'll learn more about what it is that I learned. The missing piece is absolutely to do with the psyche and the perceptions of everything that's coming into our space, how we're seeing it, what we believe about it, what we think it means, and then how our body responds to what we're perceiving. And it's pretty wild.
Oh man, this is juicy. So many points. I'm saying yes, yes, yes. As soon as you said think positive, I said that whole toxic positivity idea that we were born and raised with in our society. I love my brotherhood so much, and I have to say I cringe when I hear, let's push through, let's just get over it. I love what you said. Such a beautiful point. I'm excited. So that gets me thinking, because you believe in that meaning that we give everything that creates our reality. I believe in that wholeheartedly as well. So what does that look like in practice for someone who is on their journey that you have worked with?
Hey, beautiful soul, before we keep going, I want to invite you to something special on Friday Friday, June 12th at 6 PM Eastern Standard Time, I'm hosting a live event called Emotions We Were Never Taught to Hold. And this is for the woman who has learned how to stay composed, stay useful, stay spiritual, stay responsible, but underneath it all she carries emotions she was never actually taught how to process. Anger, disappointment, resentment, fear, grief, emotional pressure. And it's not because she's weak, but because no one showed her what to do with all of those big emotions. Inside this live event, we're gonna talk about what happens when you keep suppressing what your body has been trying to tell you, why emotional regulation is not the same thing as emotional silence, and how to begin holding your inner world with more steadiness Truth and Compassion. This is going to be a deeply clarifying conversation, and spots are limited. So if it's something that you already know, I need this, don't overthink it. Go claim your spot through the link in the show notes. Again, it's coming up quick, Friday, June 12th at 6:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. And remember, replays are available. So even if you can't make it in person, you will have a replay sent your email so you can go ahead and be a part of this incredible program. I look so forward to holding space for you in that room, whether it's live or in a replay environment.
Love you, beautiful.
Now back to the episode.
Yeah, so basically a specific example. Let's say that somebody from childhood programming, almost everything is, as I'm sure that you see with your clients as well, and just everyone around us practically, the root cause to everything is probably your 4-year-old self or your 6-year-old self. An example, how many people go through life and they're perceiving the way people speak to them as an attack? They're going through life and someone says something to them and they're like, I'm being attacked, I'm being abused. So you can see, oh, what would this create in the nervous system? Imagine I'm just at the grocery store and my nervous system is now looking out and it's ready for the attacks, for the abuse. And because my psyche, my mind, it doesn't really have a plan for this because I'm a victim. Yeah. What am I supposed to do? They're abusing me. They're attacking. So because my psyche doesn't have resources and it thinks it can't do anything about it. My physical body has to step in on purpose and adapt. And one of the places that respond specifically to this perception of the world is through your skin. So the second and third layers of your skin are protective mechanisms. So what is figurative becomes literal, right? I'm figuratively being attacked. So what's the only thing that my body could actually do to protect me? Then it can work on these skin programs. Any solution that lasts too long starts to become a problem. Feeling attacked one time isn't gonna cause a problem, but if you continue to live a whole life feeling attacked, become a problem. So that's an example of how what happens in the mind then starts to happen in the body, but on purpose.
That's fascinating. What I'm hearing is our mind and body connected and everything we absorb. It's one. It's so true. It's one. And we've learned as a society to separate those things. That's what's keeping us so disconnected. That's so powerful. So I love it because you're heavily rooted in German New Medicine. This is so fascinating to me. I remember when you and I first had that conversation about what do you do? I was so fascinated by that. And the certification that you went through, you went through some really rigorous education. To get to where you are now. I'll look through the scope of German New Medicine because that's your thing. And I love that. For those of you who don't know this, run over to Melissa's page, Root Cause Healing Coach, to learn more. But how does German New Medicine shift the way we look at disease and symptoms? Can you tell us a little bit more about how that?
Yes. Thank you for the opportunity. We have exercise, nutrition, healthy living. These are all very supportive to the body. They're also very supportive to your psyche because it makes you feel powerful and in control and you're taking care of yourself. The traditional wellness space has a supportive role, but what German New Medicine taught me was that's not the root cause to the programs that people are running in their body. So there's no lack of kale that's causing diabetes. Even the fearmongering on social media, it's like everything's Everything's parasite. These are all natural elements. When you start studying German New Medicine, you realize this is a part of planet Earth. We're a part of planet Earth. We're all afraid of these organisms that are on planet Earth, but then you start getting deeper and you realize none of this is a root cause. Sometimes this ruffles feathers cuz people are really into it. And I'm also open that there's no just one way in life. I understand that there are different ways for different people, but in my experience, German New Medicine has taken the fear out of of my body's programs. So when my body's running a program, I know it's because there's something going on in my life and my body's trying to help me out. So now it's my job to figure out, according to the map, according to the specific organ tissue that's at play here, what is going on in my life that I feel like I don't have a plan for, I can't handle it. So now my body's jumped in to help me out. So the symptom isn't now the problem, it's now just shining a light on my life and saying, hey sweetie, something's gotta adjust here. Turns out I'm not Superwoman. My adrenals are telling me, oh, it's time to slow down. My adrenals are telling me this is not the path for you. Stop pushing down a path that's not for you. That's what German New Medicine does. It takes the fear out of the symptoms. You're no longer fighting the symptoms. You're actually leaning into the symptoms and you're saying, okay, shine the light on my life. What needs to change? What needs to shift? And maybe it's nothing physical that needs to shift. Maybe it's just a perception. I have a meaning I'm giving to something over and over. And when I change that meaning, the body gets the message like, okay, no longer a threat. So that's one of the ways that German New Medicine has really shifted my view of symptoms.
That's so beautiful. And it's so intrinsically woven with Bible principles. So beautifully woven with how our God manifests life to us. We're all interconnected. It makes so much sense. There's so much meaning behind that. I love that so much. That's deep. From the aromapsychology standpoint, everything you're saying makes so much sense because even with essential oils, they go to a cellular level. The connection, your body's vibrations can actually shift and move. It's a different way. But it gets also to that level. The cognitive sometimes is lacking and that connection is beautiful.
I love— you can tie it all in together. Yeah. Everybody vibrates differently with different modalities. I always tell people explore, don't get stuck on one thing. That's part of our growth. There's no just one way to do things. Try this, try that. See what works for you. If you love it, do it. If you don't love it, that's okay. Let it go. It becomes this world and it's so freeing.
When you spoke earlier about when you were searching and this happened to your colleagues, people that you looked up to, and you're like, wait a minute. And then you read one thing on cancer and you were drawn to it. Our body tells us things like that. Intuition, it's a powerful thing. So intuitively we figure out what that is for us and we do it and cling to it. Right?
And you actually just made me think of something, even speaking about the truth. It's interesting because I'm sure with your clients, you talk a lot about the resistance. We've spent a lot of time proving our theories. We got file folders stacked full of proof. People who are seeking the truth in a divine way versus people who aren't seeking truth and just seeking to prove themselves. We can share a Bible text and you can see their eyes, like with that blog post. Oh my God. This is it. They read that scripture and their vibration just matches. Anyone who's not actually seeking truth and just seeking to prove what they already know to be true get a really thick resistance, right? And they'll read that scripture. We've heard of those experiences where they'll rip the page out of the Bible. So it's the same thing in the health journey. I always encourage people when you feel resistance, just slow down for a second. It's totally normal, right? Just get into that feel of the resistance, invite the resistance, and know that's part of you that's trying to prove what you already know to be true. True, but what if there were other truths? What if there were other things that we didn't know yet? Right? And it's such an expansive feeling, such a wild ride to feel all of the feelings in the journey.
That's so beautiful, Melissa, because it becomes this intuitive push-pull and resistance is part of the growth. It's part of moving forward. It's our brain's way of saying, wait a minute, I need new evidence.
That's right.
I hear you through and through, my soul sister. I love your quote, what you said, the body is doing things on purpose, not by accident. Let's talk about that for a moment. Can you expand on that?
A shout out to all the chronic illness warriors out there. This is a hard pill to swallow because if you've been suffering and you've been doing all the things and you finally come to this place. Myself, my body is against me, and this is just how it is. I see you, I feel you, I hear you. And yet again, moving through the resistance and coming to this other side of what if all of these symptoms are here on purpose? What if they're actually running a biological program that in some survival way My body was set up to help me, not to hurt me. And once you start looking at it from that lens, it opens up a whole new world. It opens up this whole new opportunity. And that's what I get to do with people every day is help them work through this. My body's doing things wrong versus, oh, my body does things on purpose. Now it might be getting inaccurate instructions and that's okay too, because guess who's sending the instructions, right? We're sending the instructions. So it's just that it's super exciting, but it is at the very beginning. I usually say it takes about a month when I'm working with clients before they start getting the new proof that you talked about. Oh, I'm getting new proof. I'm starting to see the patterns. I didn't have that symptom yesterday and now I have it today. Why would my body have not been broken yesterday and just today it's randomly broken again? They start putting the pieces together and realize, okay, my body's doing this on purpose. All I have to do is change the instructions and it's going to have new output.
So beautiful. When I work with my women, I say the first few months will be a detox, just like you would detox from any program, food, the way you eat. It's going to be a mental and body detox. Your body will— you have to allow space for that and allow room for that. As you're doing that, your body is relearning, rewiring. Your brain is learning these new ways of living and being that rest is productive. Less is more, you know? So yeah, wholeheartedly, I hear you.
Absolutely.
For all of you women out there who are chronic illness thrivers, we applaud you. We love you. We see the value in you, girls. You are rock stars. And whatever you can pull from this episode to help you to see a new way, know that we are here for you every step of the way and we're cheering you on. We love you so much. So Melissa, you mentioned you and I are the same in 100% ownership and responsibility, taking action and doing these things. That doesn't mean massive shift. It could be a small shift, but taking 100% ownership of that is vital. What does that mean for you? How do you guide others in that space without them falling into self-blame or self-loathing? What does that look like for you?
Yeah, I love that question. And again, going back to our friend, really, I would call resistance such a friend cuz it just tells us, ooh, I think I'm on the right path. Right. Yeah. And this is one of those moments where there's so much resistance. There was a lot of resistance in me. Like, I didn't make this up. I didn't pick my parents. I didn't pick that. It's not me. It's them. So when you step into this place of, okay, where's my ownership here? How am I responsible for this? What can I do about it? It is so freeing. Feels so good. The shame and all the blame just melts away. And now you're like, I'm empowered and I'm the creator of my life.— for this reading. So one of the things that goes right along with you is this compassionate curiosity. There is nothing we've ever done in our life that at the time of doing it, we're setting it up. We didn't do it with our whole heart and with the resources that we did have. So any programs that I have in my body or any patterns I have or any beliefs I've formed or meanings I've given to things. I set that up to help myself, to keep myself safe. And it was at a time when I had less resources, less knowledge. And now that I have more resources and I'm a different person, it's like, oh, I can see why I set that up. And I can also see that if I wanted, I could change that. And so I think that's the real key is just teaching to be truly compassionate and curious. No finger pointing, just like, wow, that is cool. I remember when I was 6 and I decided that. I'm not 6 anymore. I wanna decide something else. Cuz we get to remake ourselves every day. We get to be different every day.
It's so beautiful. We find that ownership within ourselves. We tell ourselves, wait a minute, I think it's time for me to grow up a little bit.
And I love that.
Yeah.
It's adult. I'm sure you get clients all the time who's this age finally. Yes. You can just feel this freedom and liberation, this energy coming up. Yes. Oh, I'm not 10 anymore. And we all have a tendency, how old do you feel right now? And immediately people will tell you, I feel 12. Yeah. And when they said that to you, how old did you feel?
14.
Guess what? You're not 14 anymore. Now how can you feel? And it's so, so even just playing with that is so fun.
I love that dynamic. And it's so true because empathy and compassion are things that exude out of all of us when we tap into it. And so it does make us more compassionate, more open, curious. The world is not our enemy. It's actually our friend. And we learn to look at it that way.
Yeah. Since I was a little girl, I was okay, so we're gonna follow Jesus' example. I can't cure people. I can't resurrect people. The only thing I can do is share the kingdom message with them, but I have to love people in order to even want to share the message. All of the healing really goes to the big picture because if I just wait until the kingdom to feel better or to be different or be better, well then I'm missing out this privilege right now to be with people, feel safe with people. Yes. And to really see people, you see this on social media a lot, this hatred of people. And we get it. People will be challenging. We get it. But it's no, I don't wanna hate people. I wanna love people. I wanna see past all of that. Yeah. And be able to still offer them the kingdom hope. And so this is part of the journey. This is why I'm working on me.
Always working on ourselves. I know even with myself, just hearing you say these things, it redefines within me the reasons why I stepped into this holistic space in the first place. When we start to see people from a different lens, we start to see people from this lens of potential, so much potential. And so that helps me realize how much closer it makes me feel to Jesus' example, because man, they saw it too. And they have to deal with some messiness along the way. So how has your own healing changed since embracing this way of life?
Yeah, I think that coming from the traditional wellness world, detox and diets and exercise, and it's not all toxic. There's tons of mental self-development books that I've read that truly formed some new perceptions for me., but it didn't change the relationships I had with people. And isn't that what the whole thing's about? That's what we're here for, right? Is connection and relationships. And so I think that just tapping into this missing piece transformed my relationships. And I think that's what good health is about, right? It's not about, look, I can see my abs. It's like, you can see your abs and hate everyone around you, right? Or, oh, I have such great energy, but I have no relationship with my family. Yes. And it's like, oh no, I feel like the emotional peace and the perception shifts and giving life a new meaning and people a new meaning, it can start to really transform your relationships. I will say that's why we're here to love and to love our neighbor. And that's all about relationships. In my personal healing, that's the biggest thing I've seen shifts in my relationships with people, how I feel about people and how I'm able, because I can see myself differently now, I I can differently now, even though they haven't changed at all.
Yes. That's so beautiful. It's key that I move differently even if they haven't changed at all.
Yeah.
So beautiful. That's such a beautifully protective way of caring for yourself. I hear you caring for your inner child so deeply.
Oh, what a sweetie. All the inner child. Even when I meet people, I just immediately picture them as a child and I'm just like, what happened to you? What needs weren't met?
Who didn't see you?
Who didn't who didn't help you, who didn't support you. And it's just like, oh, now they're just a little kid in a big body.
Yeah. Oh, I love it. I love it so much, Melissa. And thank you for the— of it. Thank you for bringing that to light because we're always growing, shifting. We're always learning, right? And just when you think you have it, something new comes and tests our resolve. I'm in the process of that myself, seeing even environmentally how that's met with resistance, staying soft within it is such a challenge and staying true to your identity. 1 Corinthians 10:13 has been a principle for me lately because offers us a way to endure through healing. That's a way to endure, right? Through our personal journey of healing when it's met with resistance from those we love. And care about, that can make us make challenging decisions so that we can continue to endure. That looks different for everyone. I wanna say kudos to you and to all the beautiful women who've had to make tough decisions to continue to endure and to be able to stay in a safe, protective, energetic space because energetic boundaries are a thing. Yeah. So what have you learned about these energetic boundaries and celebrating your way of looking at things in medicine while honoring others, even doing similar work or clients who may be challenging because their resistance is so strong that they're afraid of it?
The work that you do, the work that I do, the number one most important person to take care of energetically is self. Because a lot of people are new to the coaching industry and we've, you know, been around a long while. People are like, woo!
Oh yeah.
Woo! I come from a struggling financially family. Our whole life's been a struggle. My parents have struggled. They're in their late 70s. They're still struggling. Everything's about money. Everything's about how much does it cost? Because we know money is energy. You have to limit the amount of energy that you're giving out to people. When we work with people, it's all energy exchange. I am letting you come into my space, I'm coming into your space. I've had to really learn I can't help the whole world. I wanted it to be $29 to help everyone, because everyone needs to get fit. And here I am going in debt every month, trying to stay fit and keep the whole world fit. One day I just have a breakdown. Something's gotta shift, you know? So one of the energetic boundaries I had to put was actually pricing. I cannot serve the whole world. Jesus has got that. I'm gonna commit to helping the amount of people that I can energetically and truly serve and be on their journey of transformation while also taking care of myself. Nobody else is here to take care of me, right? And so one of my energetic boundaries is actually money. I had to really work on stepping into this new place of, hey, this quite the privilege, but it's energetically also, you've gotta be mindful of that. And then working with other coaches, I love, I feel like coaching, I compare it to Tetris. Have you ever watched someone else play Tetris? Yes. The goal is to get the 5 solid blocks and get the big points. In your mind, you're like, go to the right, flip it to the right. And they're like, flip it to the left. And I go in this spot, but it's all leading to the same ultimate outcome. I love seeing the coaching industry. There's a time and place for everyone. I love recommending coaches to people. I think the growth you have with me, you've done it. And now I think that another coach could help you unlock a new level of growth. And I just think that's a beautiful thing to know that there's an abundance and there's plenty for everyone and everyone is gonna be having a part of the journey with clients.
I love that so much, Melissa. And it's funny cuz you've been in the coaching industry for quite some time. I'm at 5 years and I feel like I just started yesterday. When we think about the impact we have made on people, that is because we pour our heart and soul into who we work with. When the recipient doesn't receive it, something does have to give because this is our work, but this is also our passion. So I hear you wholeheartedly when it comes to the money energetic exchange. It's really about about embracing the whole challenge. And I love that you created that awareness in your life and built those boundaries. Did you notice that you leveled up as a coach even?
Absolutely. And you just come from such a place of abundance and you can tell when a coach— is it okay if I share my first big coaching experience for myself personally? Absolutely. It's interesting because as entrepreneurs, we're always pouring back into our business and our businesses ourselves. I did my taxes. I think I spent over $15,000 last year on personal development. For me to keep showing up session after session with something that can help you level up, I have to keep leveling up. I have to keep slightly ahead of my clients all the time. So the first coach that I invested in that I felt was a big ticket was a $10,000 coach. It was $10,000 for a year.. And it was group coaching. There were no private sessions. For me, that was the biggest chunk of money I'd ever spent in my life. 2 weeks later, I find out this life-changing, tragic news in my personal life. It was interesting cuz I love that I had that experience. I love that I put my money into that experience because I can truly tell people just like you can when you give me money. Amy Robinson, it is going to be your best. I am going to be there for you. That $10,000 coach was not there for me. He was not there for me. I did get a lot from the program, but what I can say is the value that you pour into people, you're there for it.
Yes.
And you don't get that with all coaches. You don't get that vibe of, hey, I'm in this with you. We're going to have some ups, we're going to have some downs, but we're going to be in this together because we all need each other. I think that is a beautiful thing that I you and me and so many other coaches out there. But I just wanted to share that first coaching experience I had. So for any of your listeners who have had a coach before and maybe you didn't feel like you got that personal touch, give a different coach another chance because there's a lot of us that are truly in it for the people.
That's it. Thank you for sharing that. It's so true. Everybody can call themselves a coach. But a really impactful coach doesn't just help you reach your goals. They help you transform yourself as a person. They show up for you. I've had coaches that I've poured thousands of money into, and they've taught me what I've needed to learn. I've always learned my lesson, whether it's good or negative. I'm going to get better, or I will not do this to my people.
Right.
Learn. Learn. And that's why even within this space, I'm incredibly Rottweiler-ish with who I have as a coach, who I represent even in my podcast, because I've invested into you. I'm feeling you out to give you heart to someone else. And if I say Melissa is your girl, Melissa is your girl, because we can relate to the what we're looking for. Energetic exchange is important. It's so important. I've also had clients come into my space who were not ready for the level of growth they were looking for. What they said and what they did were different. I had to be that coach for them. Even in the end, I've had a few respond, you know what, you kicked my rear, but I needed it. It's a twofold exchange that, like you said, that if you're gonna put money down on me, I'm gonna show up for you. I would rather have 2 really good, invested, doing their part clients than to have 10 clients that aren't doing the work. I had to walk away from a coach who I absolutely love, but the veneer came after a moment of, wait a minute, I had to do some really prayerful searching, I realized I'm about to give this person $30,000 and I don't know if this is gonna work. You learn to hear your intuition. I'm running with that. I agree with you that energetic exchange, money is energy. Money always comes. Money always flows, especially when we're working with people. There's always that little bit of fear, but I'm a big believer of if you're praying for this, and you choose me, it's because I helped you choose me. And you best believe I'm gonna bring my best foot forward because I don't wanna get in trouble. Do you know what I'm saying?
I'm sure you hear that from clients all the time, that they were praying and you came into their space or what you've guided them towards within themselves. It's been an answer to a prayer. So yeah, there's definitely that kind of divine piece too. And it's neat to be able to help in any small way that we can.
I love it. Oh, I love you so much, Melissa. I'm so happy we're having this conversation. So as we wrap this beautiful episode up, because it has been rich with beautiful thoughts and principles and just really sharing your story, tell us a little bit more about your hybrid program.
It sure does. Yeah. So what I have is called the Healing Haven. It's a hybrid because it has the group and community element along with with the private sessions. So it's got both. I liked what you said earlier, right? It's like we have some things that we're changing, shifting, growing, healing, working through, processing, repatterning. And sometimes our immediate community doesn't get it. They're not there yet. And that's okay. That's why I know you two, you have a group as well. We need community. We need to know there's this space where certain things, and they'll get Yes. And not just get it. I love how you always remind us on your stories. If you're sharing something negative going on in your life, don't jump in and pour it into the negative. And that's what MySpace is. We're gonna say, I see you, that sucks. I'm gonna validate it, but then we're gonna help you. Yeah. Say, okay, what's next for you? Kind of community where you're getting the love, but you're also getting that push, which is why people are paying us. If you just want to stay the same, please don't pay us. This is what we do. This is what we're here for. Get in the community and the group and the questions that you need. I'm going through this. I'm going to shoot you a question. I'm not going to give you an answer. I'm not going to tell you what to do. We're not doctors. We don't have the answers. I'm just going to ask you the question so that you can find them within yourself. We get together every Monday. The point of the group coaching sessions is to really make the mind-body connection, see in all the ways that our mind is the body and the body is the mind and how it's all working together and how you can trust it. Ultimately, how can you trust your body? Shifting your mind. What our group coaching sessions are about, hands-on things. We do a lot of somatic things, different modalities. We play with different things and see how it lands. I always tell my clients, I'm gonna give you lots of tools. Tools. You're gonna love some of them and resonate with some of them. You're gonna keep those, put them in your toolbox. And I'm gonna give you other ones and you're gonna be like, yeah, you lost me. Cool, that one's not for you. Lots of tools, lots of resources. But I love it because we're also not over— because I know you've seen this on social media or wherever, people YouTube, it gets overwhelming. I try not to give people fluff that's actually not helpful. This is actually helpful. This is what I'm going to teach you. This will move the needle. The rest is slough. It's just like all this stuff that you're not gonna do anyway. So that's what we do in the group. And then the private sessions, my private sessions are called Root and Release. Whatever chronic symptom people are dealing with, whether it's emotional, mental, or physical, we do a little work on the root, which 95% of the time there's a childhood event that sets the program up in the body, but doesn't turn it on. And then sometime in adulthood, a very a similar flavored thing happens, the body says, I have an app for this, and it turns on what we would call a disease. In my space, we would call a special biological program because it's happening on purpose in response to this event that we didn't have resources for. These root and release, we spent a little time in the past just to do a bit of investigating without retraumatizing, without reliving, because we don't need to relive anything. We need to find that moment in time. When did the body set this up? This app that we can call it on your phone. How can we change the meaning? How can we give resources to that time in your life so that your body says, I don't need this in my physical body. The psyche's got it taken care of. It's over. It doesn't mean this anymore. It means this now. And it can actually turn these programs off. So that's kind of the release work. And then at the end of our sessions, we always have, what's your new narrative? What are you gonna practice between our sessions to make these new neuropathways in your head, which I know you work with as well. So yeah, that's kind of what my program is about and it's limited cuz I do the private coaching, so I have a limited amount of energy time and it's been a really amazing experience for sure. And I appreciate getting to share it with you.
I'm just so happy you shared that with us. Thank you for doing that. It sounds like a beautiful, well-rounded program. To be able to have a little bit of both. And that's what a lot of us are looking for. I wanna know that I feel seen, heard, so that I can feel safe, right? So it's a beautiful thing. Thank you, Melissa. You've shared so much with us today. Thank you so much for being here.
I'm so grateful to you for sharing your time, energy, and space with me.
My pleasure.
Always my pleasure. All right. See you soon.
All right, take care.
That was rich. Here's what I want you to take away with you today: your body's not being disobedient. It's loyal. It's following the instructions your perceptions, your 6-year-old self, and your current nervous system are sending to it. That means you can send it new instructions, beautiful soul. And that's the good news. And this is the work I'm doing right now with women in their 30s, 40s, 50s who are leading, serving, coaching, or in emotional demanding roles, love people, love their work, but their body and emotions are tired. We're integrating aromapsychology, cognitive behavioral tools, nervous system regulation, and energetic business life boundaries so that they can keep doing their assignments without burning out. If that's you, I want you to reach out. Check out my membership in the show notes. That's a great way to start your healing journey. And if you're curious about working with Melissa, check out her information in the show notes as well. We look forward to hearing from you. You don't have to choose between your calling and your health.
You do get to have both.
I love you, beautiful soul. Keep honoring your body, keep listening to the spirit within you, and keep reclaiming your inner rock star.
