Unveiling Grand Teton's Best Wildlife Hotspots

In this travel‑vlog, host Angie Birmingham (Speaker A) guides viewers through a comprehensive Grand Teton National Park adventure, blending practical logistics, wildlife spotting, photography hotspots, and local amenities. She opens by promoting a paid Google Map (99 ¢) that pins all prime wildlife locations and travel tips. The video then walks through how to reach the park—nearest airports, rental‑car options, the steep Teton Pass, and RV camping logistics—while warning about road delays and parking rules. The core of the vlog showcases a series of wildlife encounters: the famed bear “399” and her cub Spirit, additional cinnamon and black bears, a den of coyote pups, elk, moose, a gray wolf, beavers, otters, and numerous bird species. Alongside the wildlife narrative, Angie shares photography advice (camera settings, composition) and highlights iconic photo locations such as Oxbow Bend, Schwabacher Landing, Snake River Overlook, and Signal Mountain. She also recommends lodging, food (Old Fashioned, cowboy chili, Dornan’s Pizza, Barry’s ice‑cream), and essential gear stops like Wyoming Camera Outfitters and the Mangelsen Gallery. The video concludes with a call‑to‑action to purchase the map and travel guide, a teaser for an upcoming Yellowstone guide, and standard YouTube subscription prompts.

What's that? Did I hear you want to go to the Teton National Park? Well, let me tell you, I've been going since 2009, and between Jeff and I, we've put together this video, and I'm going to share with you our favorite wildlife spots, lodging, and food. And I've put it together all on a Google Map that I created, and for 99 cents you can have the pinpoints to all the locations and all the starting locations for the areas in which most of the wildlife lives. So let's jump into this map, we'll go over it, and at the end, if you want to click on the link below, it'll take you into our website where you can purchase the map. for 99 cents. And also in there is also a travel guide that will help you travel on a budget no matter where you go. So check out the 2 links, but first let's go check out the Tetons and I'm going to tell you everything you need to know. Let's go! So this is the map here that we are going to go over in the video. So let's get started. So first things first, of course you've got to get there, and here's a list of the nearby airports and about how far they are from each of the parks. We typically fly into Salt Salt Lake City and get a rent-a-car over at Rugged Rental. They're a great local rental company. You should check them out. I'll have the link below for you. But if you're flying into Salt Lake, make sure you get ready for the walk, because from the Southwest gates to where the luggage is, is probably a good mile walk. walk, maybe even longer by time you get out to where the rent-a-car shuttle service is. So just be prepared for a walk in the event that you go into Salt Lake City Airport. So after getting the rent-a-car, we drive to a little town on the other side of the Teton Mountain Range, just outside Idaho Falls. where we pick up our RV because the cost of lodging in the Teton Park got really expensive. And believe it or not, we are now staying for free in our camper. We have officially paid it off, so now the only fees we have are rent-a-car and food while we're there. So here's our little camper, nice and small. And here we go. We're going up and over the Teton Pass, uh, which is quite the ride. It recently was closed because the road completely washed out, but it is back up and open, believe it or not, already.
Yeah.
But I would expect delays on that road just because they are Still working on it, so there's going to be some delays. This road is very steep. If you're going over it with a camper, just be prepared. Make sure your brakes work on your camper. Then Jeff drops me off at the Jackson Airport, and I walk through the Jackson Airport, which I love this airport, it's so cute, and I go over to the rent-a-car counter and I pick up My rent-a-car, because we got to have our own because we got to go our own ways. So I walk out in the rain, and as I'm driving to our campsite, it starts spitting and sputtering snow. And then I make it to the lodge where I have myself an Old Fashioned and a bowl of cowboy chili for dinner. And then after dinner, it's really coming down. We're gonna have a very snowy night in our trailer tonight, so we're going to be and solar panels off since we do go off the grid when we're in the Teton. There's me kicking back after I make it back to the camper. Here I am having my morning coffee in my most favorite place in the world, and it's so beautiful. All the trees are covered in snow, but not much stuck to the ground, which, which is fine. So let's go ahead and head on over to our first location, which is right here. This little blue dot right here is the Grand Teton National Park sign with the Grand Teton Mountains in the background. This is a very popular spot for photographs. All right, let's go find some wildlife. So we just heard over the radio 399 has been spotted. So we are going to go and attempt to photograph 399. Let's go. All right, here's our first bear sighting. Good old cinnamon gummy bears, my favorite. All right, so here is your typical bear jam when you pull up on one. Finding a place to park is a bit of a challenge, but when you are parking, make sure your tires are off the road Or on the other side of the white line, or you will get a ticket. And this here, this is what you call a waiting game for 399 to come out. Everybody lined up waiting patiently for her to come out. She's back in the bushes, but you just can't see her yet. Or at least get a clear view because she and her cub are laying down. But here she comes. She's coming down. There's her and her cub Spirit taking— or actually probably cooling themselves off because it's quite a warm day for the spring in the Tetons. We had, we had a definitely an array of temperatures. We had snow to up to 80-degree weather during the day. You just never know what mountain weather is going to bring, so make sure you come packed and prepared for anything.
That's what you are in the middle of the night when I can't get hold of you.
All right, so 399 and Spirit are on the move, and so are we. You can see the traffic jam behind us, and it's just as bad in front of us. So I think I'll take me a little pit stop at my favorite reflection spot since there is no wind, and it is just absolutely gorgeous with the snow on the mountains. We were joined by quite a few people So right now we stopped at Jackson Lake Dam, just below the dam. We're going to do a little bit of birding here and go check out a potential beaver dam. The birds we expect to get here will be robins, yellow warblers, hopefully some blue jays. And who knows what else. So if you're in the Grand Teton National Park, this is a really good spot to stop. You park near the restrooms and then you walk down towards the dam where you have the possibility of seeing otters, eagles, geese, swans, Ospreys, and maybe even a grizzly bear crossing the river. All right, let's go check it out. So we pull up and the parking lot is very full, so I'm thinking that this is probably where 399 is with Spirit. And sure enough, there they are on the other side of the river just waiting to cross. And here they come. Swimming across the river, cooling off while they're doing it. Here's a few other species that we found while we were down at the river. Take a look. So after that, we drive a little ways and we see another little jam going on, and we stop and Much to our surprise, it is a den of coyote pups. There was 9 of them in total, and we only ever really saw was the mother running back and forth with food for all 9 of these babies. Quite amazing. You got it, I want it, the feeling is closer, I want it, you got it, the As we were leaving, we saw a whole lot of cow elks and a couple little calf elks, which was quite a little treat. Then I saw this adorable little squirrel up in a tree eating some nuts. We then went for a little hike and we stumbled across A prawn, this little cinnamon bear. He was eating berries or eating something out of the tree. And then there was a couple black bear cubs up in a tree not too far from where the cinnamon was eating. There was a mother cub at the— her mother cub— there was a mother bear at the bottom of the tree. Watching that little cinnamon bear. And here, here he is getting in trouble. He is taking the sheets off of the drying line. Then we got a bull moose. This is actually from my fall trip, but I figured I'd share with you since I'm giving you the pin location of where the moose like to hang out. Then we took time out the next day for some early morning landscapes. Here we are early morning, Oxbow Bend, going for that ionic shot. Iconic shot. Oh, iconic. It's too early for this crap. The iconic shot of Oxbow Bend is what we are trying to achieve This morning we got a nice reflection. All right, here we are. Beautiful reflections this morning. We got the camera set up. We are at f/10. Nope, I lied. 1/10th of a second, f/11, 100 ISO. This is the on the screen, and this is what it looks like done. When you're down photographing, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for grizzly bears because they like that area too. Next, we're heading over to Schwabacher Landing. I need to also mention that I had my rep from B&H Photo come and join me for 48 hours in the parks, and he had an amazing trip. Here he is debating his next move, and Off we go to the Snake River Overlook. This is by far my favorite landscape spot. And time out for a little shopping. Anytime you're in Jackson, you gotta make sure to come by this store right here, Mangelsen Gallery. After you get done going through the gallery, seeing all the amazing images that have been created in the park, head on over to the local camera store, Wyoming Camera Outfitters, and get your last-minute camera goods at this amazing store. They'll also rent you a camera and a lens, so stop by and see Travis, Isaac, or Zeb and tell them Jeff and I said hi. It may be a small store, but you'd be surprised They got a lot of stuff in there, just what you need for the park. Now it's time for lunchtime. This Dornan's Pizza and Pasta is by far the best place to have pizza, salad. My favorite is the artichoke dip, but the best part about this place is the view from from the deck while you're eating. I mean, look at this. This is just amazing. And the food— look at all that food you get. My gosh, I couldn't even eat it all. And then after eating, we're gonna head on over to the Chapel of Transfiguration and get my favorite shot from the outside and from the inside. Then we're gonna head over to Lupine Meadows and see if we can find some lupines. Looky there, my favorite wildflower right there. And this here is a little spot I love to go to for reflection shots as well. This is a fall shot because the time I was there, I never did get a nice shot. Then you take a drive up to the top of Signal Mountain, and then we head back to camp thinking it's all over with, but just about then a gray wolf comes out. And last but not least, we got the We see some mules on our way back to the camp spot. This is our last night dinner before we head home from the Teton Mountains. And on our way back, we always have to stop and get some square ice cream at the world-famous square ice cream spot, Barry's. As you can see, it is a very popular place, and the ice cream is off the chart. It is homemade. And Lisa, my friend Lisa, joined me, and her family picked her up at the airport with the lovely sign, welcome back from rehab.
