$65K/Month on TikTok Shop - How a Teacher Did It

In this interview, host Speaker A talks with Deborah (Deb), a former Spanish teacher who became a TikTok Shop affiliate and member of the Miss Affiliate community. Deb recounts how she left teaching during COVID, tried TikTok Shop in early 2025, and earned $18,000 in her first full month (April) selling the herbal drink “Yerba Magic.” After joining Miss Affiliate in December 2025, she pivoted to skincare products, tripling her income and eventually reaching $65,000 in a single month. She explains the role of community coaching, scripting in Spanish, hook creation, and translating viral concepts with her own personality. Deb describes the lifestyle shift—more free time, tennis, travel, and a flexible schedule of research, filming, and editing—compared to the rigid 8‑to‑5 teaching job. Her future goal is $100,000 per month, and she encourages nervous creators to practice, leverage community support, and view TikTok Shop as a skill that can lead to brand retainers and cross‑platform opportunities. The conversation also touches on brand retainers, the expanding e‑commerce ecosystem (Instagram, YouTube Shops), and Deb’s plan to bring friends into the community.

Miss Girl just did $65,000 in a single month.
That's something crazy.
Back to back.
Tripled my income and I have the freedom. My first full month was April and I made $18,000 on TikTok Shop with just pretty much just Yerba Magic. And I was trying my hardest not to go back to teaching. Some people were making it big on TikTok Shop and I said, I'm going to give it a try.
So what was your first viral product and when was that and how much did you make? Okay, I'm here with Deborah, Deb.
Yes.
And she's one of the girls in Miss Affiliate and she is a TikTok Shop affiliate and we're gonna talk to her a little bit about her journey because Miss Girl just did $65,000 in a single month.
That's something crazy.
Back to back, which is crazy 'cause you are consistent too, which is really,
really cool. It's crazy,
it's a dream. Definitely, like I can't believe it myself. Oh my gosh. I kind of want to go a little bit further back before you joined. You were doing TikTok Shop, but tell me even before then. So quick story, like what you were doing, how you got into TikTok Shop, and then kind of from there.
I've been a Spanish teacher like 15+ years. And in COVID, I also owned a little franchise, like a sign business. So I stopped being a teacher during COVID and that just also in sales. So I just kind kind of let go of that sign business, and I was trying my hardest not to go back to teaching.
Yeah,
um, it's just hard work, not the income's not there, lots of hours and such. But, um, so I was just researching on what to do, um, and I just read, you know, some people were, were making it big on TikTok Shop, and I said I'm, I'm gonna give it a try. So I just Swapped and then immediately it just, it just was a good month for me.
The
first, you
know, you had luck pretty quick, right? Okay. So what was your first viral product and when was that and how much did you make?
It was Yerba Magic back in April. I started in March of last year, 2025, but it wasn't my first full month was April and I made $18,000 on TikTok Shop with just Pretty much just Yerba Magic. I had another other
yeah
few sales here and there, but it was mainly Yerba Magic. And the whole rest of the year was kind of average like that. Maybe anywhere from ten to fifteen thousand a month.
Yeah, but enough you didn't have to go back to teaching. No, from that alone. No, no.
And that was my goal.
Yeah.
You know I did not. And I put my life into TikTok shop. Yeah. But at the same time, I mean shoot, it gives you all the the free time and And you're on your own, and then you just— it's all about you. All the effort that you put into it is just you, as opposed to what I call it jail. Yeah, my teaching. Yeah, being in a classroom, you know, not having the freedom to, to grow.
And you, it just— you can't make enough to really live.
Like, exactly, very little. Exactly. So, um, until I met you in one of your videos on— in December. Just now, December 2025. And I did your— I mean, I joined your group and did the transition into skincare. And that's when my income, thanks to you, the coaching and the, you know, the motivation, your— the group, being in a community from your group, and it was just my income tripled.
Wow. It's also crazy because to me, I think a lot of girls think, oh, I'm too old for that, or like, I can't do that. But you understood content. Yeah. So I kind of want to know, like, when you came into Miss Affiliate, what really helped you? And also, how did you not care about, okay, like, I'm not maybe 20 years old, right? But how can I use this to my advantage?
Right. It did. You know, of course, in the world of TikTok, at first I didn't even know. It existed, TikTok Shop.
Yeah.
So I've always did, um, I always at least understood technology and was good at that. And then the editing, it's just something that's very interesting to me. But at the same time, I was like, okay, this is TikTok. I'm reached the 5th floor. Uh, I'm in my 50s.
But you look so good and you're making— you're a millionaire. I know, I know.
Thank you. But so I did, you know, I was a little skeptical. I was like, okay, this is all young people, the whole technology the, the, they understand all that.
I remember you were nervous. Yes, super nervous. Our first call too, you were like, I got this.
Yes, super nervous. And, um, but, um, you know, being a Spanish, being a Spanish creator and kind of getting into that community of 40s and up, 50s and up, even 60s and up now in TikTok Shop, um, it just really, I just kind of blended right into that, um, that need, I guess. Yeah.
Okay, and you just got in. What was the biggest thing that helped you triple, quadruple your income with TikTok Shop?
Well,
I guess, were you stuck before and what like clicked for you?
Right. Well, with the, I guess, with the Yerba Magic or with the one product, it just kind of— I was kind of nervous about like, okay, what happens when the trend ends? So I was kind of worried about what to find next until I heard your live and you mentioned skincare. And just the transition, it was just huge. I don't remember your question now. What was it? Cut?
No, no, no, you're good. Because before, I remember you kind of were like, not stuck at $10K because that's really good. $10K months, it's crazy because like stuck at $10K is amazing. But you really were like, how do I actually make more?
Right.
And then besides like transition to skincare, do you feel like there were certain things that you learned when you entered that you were like, oh, like this is— I should be doing this? Or did anything help you in specific?
I know that with a skincare world, I mean, there was just— there's so much variety, there's so much more products.
What helped you? Was it like a certain— did you look up to someone or like watch certain videos, the masterclasses, scripting, or was it just the product for you?
Yeah, well, the whole coaching of your classes, the whole community, the help that I got, because I just felt like alone You know, in this TikTok world. So as soon as I joined a community, your community, it was just so, so easy for me to just transition into that, that world. I'm not missing. I'm not.
No, no, you're good. I'll make the questions easier. Now I'm sweating. So tell me what life was like before compared to now, like the difference of what— because it's not just like money is a tool. We don't want to like idolize money. But what has the income from TikTok Shop done for you? What do your days look like now? And what do they used to Right.
Well, it's night and day. I mean, shoot, as a teacher, I used to make what, $65,000, maybe $60,000 a year. And now when I had— I mean, I mean, making this a month, it's insane. Yeah, it's insane. So, you know, when I started this, especially this year, when it just— when I transitioned to skincare, it just was night and day.
Yeah.
I mean, tripled my income, and I have the I have the freedom. I have— it's just, it's all up to me to put whatever effort I put into it. It's all up to me to make myself grow as opposed to any job that you just don't find— you don't grow.
What's your schedule like? Because some girls watching this are going to be like, okay, she's like— I relate to her. I'm older. What does she do? What's your schedule?
Well, I'm a tennis player, so I have a lot of time for tennis now. I have a lot of time to go and enjoy my family, my friends, lunches, you know, when I used to not have that freedom as a teacher. Yeah. So my schedule is, you know, I have my mornings of, for example, research and scripting and such, and then I just film a few times a week, and the rest is editing, but on my time. And it's an amazing— it's a night and day. It's amazing what a difference it is. from where I used to be a few years ago.
So you, you don't work every single day, you do some here and some online?
Right, I mean, it's not, um, you know, it's not an 8 to 5. Exactly, it's not an 8 to 5 for sure like teaching, but, um, but it's, it's a, it's a daily, it's a daily job, but it's, it's fun. I, I wake up just, uh, excited about, you know, what the next project will be, the next video, the next viral video. Yeah, which is You know, the next idea that I had for that certain, you know, next video. So it's just all like, it's so exciting.
Yeah. Like it's, it's so worth the output too, because the little in that you put in can make you so much more. Right. What's next for Deb? Like what's your goal you have for yourself? Where do you see yourself this year?
Well, obviously these months are definitely a motivation, but it's just so exciting, all these new products. So that just means new videos or new New,
more opportunity.
It's just so much opportunity with TikTok. It's amazing. It's amazing. And I have friends that are interested and they ask me about it and I, I'm just forever talking about what's next on TikTok, you know. And then again, as a teacher, I never had any plans like that. It was just kind of the same over and over. And this is just something new every single day and it's just, it's just so motivating. It's so cool.
Do you have a specific number that you want to make in a month? Uh, or are you kind of just like—
Yeah, well, before it was $20,000, then $30,000, then now when I made $65,000, of course I have to go a little higher now. So I say $100,000 is my, my goal. Yeah, yeah, you add another zero. Exactly, exactly. I mean, it's, it's a dream when I say— I mean, I literally am looking at the number and I can't even believe it.
It's your old teacher salary.
I mean, a year.
Yeah.
I tell my son, you know, my teenage son, I'm like, do you realize that we used to live with that a year? So it was like maybe $4,000 a month, like just trying, like, you know, trying to make ends meet like always and living what you— the true definition of living paycheck to paycheck.
Yeah, like budgeting to a T. Oh,
and now I just came back from Spain. I am here in Miami. We're gonna go to New York, I think, next Wow. So it's just, it's amazing.
Like night and day difference. Yes. One thing I wanted to end on, which you— I want to talk a little bit more like from your heart. If there's a girl watching this that is like so nervous or like really doesn't think she can maybe talk on camera, because you just on the camera, you just go. Yes. And maybe you weren't sure if you ever could.
Oh, for sure. You know, like I say, practice. I'm a tennis player, and so I always say practice makes perfect. perfect. You have to practice. It's no matter what, it's just the more you do it, the more comfortable you'll feel. Um, and, and it's just, it's just practice. And then eventually you love this so much that it just comes natural.
Yeah.
You know, um, you're helping people, you're, you're, you're sharing what you are using. So it's just an easy share, an easy, uh, you know, I mean, who doesn't Like skincare and beauty tips. And there's a product for everyone too. For everyone, no matter what. Um, so I just do it, practice. Um, I, I say once you see the benefits of this, then immediately you'll just naturally put even more effort into it and just be the level that you want.
Yeah, I was telling Maria, we need to get your retainers next too.
Yes.
Because that's also like Which some girls might not know this, but in beauty specifically on TikTok Shop, the brands pay so much. Right. And you have now a GMV to back you up. Yes. So now you can expect, okay, maybe $10K, $20K a month just retainers on top of commission if you kind of do that next. So I'm going to help you guys with that as well.
Yes. Because
I think that's something people don't even realize. It's like you're not just learning TikTok Shop, now you know how to sell in a video. So brands want to pay you. And now there's like Instagram, there's YouTube, like they're coming out with their own shop.
Yes, a whole world. We could do this for a while.
Opportunities. Yes. But it's just crazy to see like how many different people's lives it can change. I want every girl to do it. Honestly, I hope the app just keeps growing and more brands come.
I have 4 girlfriends. Hopefully they'll join because like I said, hey, let's all go to Miami together. So they're all excited. Literally 4 of them bought accounts yesterday. I was there the day before yesterday. They all bought them yesterday and they're all excited with me. Wow. So, and I have them to help out too. And of course I'm going to hopefully be coming to— they're going to be coming to the Yes. To our community.
It's just like, anyone can do it. There's no— Absolutely. Obviously it's a skill, you put in the work, but it really isn't like there's some secret sauce that I have that you— it's like, okay, these are the products, your hook, your call to action. When you're filming, do you feel like you follow a framework? Because you're pretty scripting, right?
Right. I'm to the point— I used to do a lot of scripting, and I do all my content in Spanish, so I'm to the point to where I can see a viral video. Um, use my personality, use my, my own translations because ChatGPT doesn't always do the trick.
It's kind of corny. Yeah.
Um, so I'm to the point to where I can see it, I can, you know, understand the concept, the angle, and then just kind of translate it with my own personality. But yeah, using the whole psychology of the sale and the, the—
Yeah. And you do Spanish and English or just Spanish?
I'm just doing, uh, Spanish right now. Um, so I started both Spanish and English, and for some reason Spanish kind of just— yeah.
Okay, maybe it comes out natural for me.
It's been— yeah, and maybe, and maybe English is next for sure.
Okay, wow. Well, thank you so much.
Thank you.
This is so special to have you. I can't believe you're here, like, in person. I know, I'm excited.
I'm in Miami.
