In this InvestHER Summit pitch, Megan Sorby, co‑founder and CEO of Pine Island Redfish, presents a land‑based regenerative aquaculture venture that uses recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) to farm native redfish, a premium species historically over‑fished in the U.S. The company creates a closed‑loop food system: fish waste is collected, concentrated, and sold as a salty, nutrient‑dense fertilizer that powers the growth of salt‑tolerant vegetables. Pine Island Redfish also cultivates mangroves for coastal reforestation and carbon capture, enhancing ecosystem resilience. By integrating these components, the venture aims to disrupt the import‑dependent U.S. seafood market, provide sustainable protein, and diversify agriculture. Currently, the team is fundraising to expand onto a fully permitted, larger land site to reach commercial scale, seeking investors who share a vision of environmentally‑driven seafood production and coastal community strengthening.

Hi, my name is Megan Sorby and I'm a co-founder and the CEO of Pine Island Redfish. Thank you so much to the InvestHER committee for selecting our company among the amazing other applicants and winners. We are so honored to share our company vision with a room full of powerful leaders and women and shed light on the impact of investing in the future of seafood and sustainable farming. It is not enough anymore to create new food production. We must create those systems that provide food, but also solve our most pressing global issues. And that's where we come in. Pine Island Redfish is a land-based regenerative aquaculture company, and utilizing recirculating aquaculture systems together with a unique approach to production siting, we are farming solutions that nourish us and our planet. We are the first mover in growing our native and legendary redfish in RAS. And we are disrupting an import-dependent market in the US, bringing this wildly popular and premium species back to our plates without impacting wild stocks, which were fished to collapse in the 1980s. But improving the circularity of food production, the manure that we collect and concentrate from the fish, we turn into a salty, nutrient-dense super fertilizer for supercharging the growth of our salt-tolerant plant solutions. We grow our greatest carbon capture tool, mangroves, for the reforestation projects along our coasts, and which replant with enhanced survivability. We also cultivate 3 species of salt-tolerant vegetables, addressing the need for diversification of our agriculture crops. These plants are already hard at work bringing nutrients to our chefs. We are currently fundraising to build a larger facility on our fully permitted site to expand our production to full commercial scale with no offshore infrastructure and vast growth potential. We have blue thumbs and green ones and copious amounts of passion. We're seeking investment partners that share the passion for seafood that works to lend a hand with Mother Nature. Let's create that ecosystem together where the environment can thrive, where consumers can enjoy nutritious seafood, and our coastal communities are strengthened for the future. Reach out to us today. Thanks so much for the time and to the InvestHER Summit. Thank you.
