A Global InvestHer representative in Paris explains what "investing in women" means: buying from women-owned businesses, mentoring, and funding. Only 1.8% of global venture capital goes to women entrepreneurs. She's calling for the community to join the movement.

Happy Women Entrepreneurs Month. This is the month of March, and as you know, 8th of March is International Women's Day. At Global InvestHer, every day is International Women's Day, and so we declare the month of March International Women's Month. Greetings from Paris, where I am here taking you with me as I share these key messages. And I think the key thing is, number one, at UN this year, the global objective and the number one priority for the UN on International Women's Day is investing in women. And you can do this in so many ways. The word invest means to put your time, energy, resources, mentoring, and money into something that's worthwhile and you want a positive outcome. That's what invest means. So how can you invest in women? You can invest by giving them their— your time, your money. Buy from them. My key message to you is buy from her, whether you are a government, a corporate, a consumer, a conscious consumer, buy from her. That's the best form of funding and best way to invest in women. Another way to invest in women is as an angel investor. Put your money where your mouth is. Invest in those women to help bring to life the companies that actually work on the things that you care about. You can have that power to bring them into the world if you invest in women entrepreneurs. Today, only 1.8% of venture capital in the world goes to women entrepreneurs. It's not okay. It keeps getting worse. So we've got to work on it. And the other key theme this year is about inclusion. So inclusiveness, that's always, always part of our DNA. And we build our global community with you in it. You help us to build it. Built around inclusion. Everybody is welcome at Global InvestHER, and that is something we believe very deeply in our DNA from the get-go. So how does that manifest itself? In everything we do every day.
