Miss Ross taught the speaker to use eye contact for stage presence by positioning himself where he could always see her eyes and she could see him. He learned to expand his peripheral vision so he could look ahead while still catching her signals, adopting what he calls an "alpha" or "wolf" stance that lets you monitor everyone at once.

When I would be with Miss Ross, she taught me something different. She's like, Kane, I want you to watch my eyes when you're with me. When I'm on stage, I want you to watch my eyes because I'm watching everything. And like, and I was like, because when you're in an alpha position or a wolf position, you want to find a position where you can see everybody. But, but, but I had to position myself where I could see her eyes. She could see me no matter where she was. She knew I was there. If she glanced at me, you know, then she would give me signals to things. So she, by doing that, it was so counterintuitive for me because now I had to expand my peripherals to here. So now I'm looking ahead but training my peripherals to expand more so that I could still do other things that I need to do.
