Bodyguard Anthony Goldner arrived in Detroit unable to carry a concealed weapon, so he relied on a flashlight for everything: navigation, spotting threats, and self-defense. The simple tool became his most essential piece of equipment when nothing else was available.
And I'd never been to Detroit at that time. I had no idea what I was really getting into. And at that time I couldn't even carry concealed. So I went with my suits that I had, my ducks lined up, and I had a flashlight, you know, so my flashlight was it. But I learned that flashlight— out of traveling as a bodyguard, as many times as I've been armed in a lot of different situations and had pepper spray and flashlight, you always need a flashlight for so many things. I mean, it's true, like the one tool that, that I think I've used time and time again.
