For someone who is new to this, they go to their dentist every six to 12 months and they have bleeding from time to time. Don't think it's a huge deal. Where do they start?
My three steps to optimum oral health are, number one, brushing. And it doesn't matter if it's electric or manual. I find that some people do a great job with a manual brush. Second step would be water flossing, string flossing. Most people don't do correctly. The studies that we have today is that water flossing is a great alternative to string floss. It actually does a better job. It gets rid of a lot of the bleed when we use a water flosser. So using a water flosser twice a day, every day, to get rid of the bacteria that's in between the teeth as well as the outer part of the teeth. And third step is using a chewable probiotic. The research on chewable probiotics has been tremendous. We use it a lot in order to decrease plaque formation for cavity prevention. And really in our oral microbiome reset protocol that we do here at the practice, anybody can do these three simple steps at home.
