A short YouTube clip by Areeb Mirza demonstrating Sony FX3’s new in-camera anamorphic de-squeeze feature. The creator recommends the Siri 35mm anamorphic lens and explains that after a Sony firmware update, the FX3 can apply de-squeeze on its onboard monitor—enabling a minimal, monitor-free setup when shooting anamorphic.
Sony FX3 anamorphic DE squeeze. Look, I love using my anamorphic lenses, and this Siri 35mm especially is a game changer for anamorphic lenses. Just look at the size of this thing. But the thing with this lens is that, of course, it has a wider aspect ratio. You have to connect an external monitor and apply a de squeeze to properly view the footage. But with Sony's recent update, they've added the de squeeze feature. So if you want to keep a minimal setup, you can use the monitor on the camera itself. So that's how you can keep a minimal setup, using an anamorphic Lens, using the FX3.
