Areeb Mirza advises videographers to archive rather than delete old footage, recommending moving files to an archive drive to free active storage. He argues archived clips can be repurposed later (e.g., extra Instagram clips, B-roll, documentary inserts), can resolve missing elements in delivered projects, and may generate additional income.

Archive instead of delete. Listen storage is relatively cheaper. What I recommend is just move the footage onto an archive drive to make more space on your active drives. In my experience the old footage has always been useful in some scenarios. For example if you're a wedding videographer and you've already delivered the files and everything's completed and in two to four months time they want more clips made out of the footage you took maybe for let's say Instagram but now you don't have the clips. You could have charged more for that or maybe they realized that they're missing a key part in the vetting video. Also some reasons I like to hon archive old footage is that it can be used in newer footage for let's say documentaries or to show a process or even for a B roll. Just something to keep in mind. If there's an opportunity for you to make extra income from the old footage or add value into the current one I recommend you keep it.
