Areeb Mirza explains why portable SSDs improve video-editing workflows: they are small, lightweight, and highly portable (useful for travel and location shoots), and they offer faster read/write speeds that speed up performance and rendering. He favors Samsung drives and stresses keeping a separate backup at home due to the risk of loss when working on the go.
Using portable SSDs for video projects can improve your workflow in several ways. The Samsung ones I use are small and lightweight. Design makes them highly portable. They're perfect for travel and on location shoots. Also, portable SSDs have faster read and write speeds, resulting in better overall performance and faster rendering time. I like using SSDs mainly because I can continue my projects literally anywhere, which keeps my work on the move simpler. But I do want to emphasize on backup, have a backup drive at home as the SSDs you'll be using on the go are portable and lightweight. But there's also a factor of losing them, so make sure to back it up as well.
