Auto Drifting Through Life vs Deliberate Action

Karan argues that drifting through life on autopilot wastes your time. Instead, deliberately choose the people around you, the books you read, and what you do. Without intentional planning, you won't reach your goals.
Five. They say that you are the sum total of the five people you surround yourself with. They say that you are. You are the sum total of the five books that you read. They say that you are the sum total of the five things that you're busy doing. You know, it's. It's a short number. It's easy to remember. It's five. It is symbolic, but it works. It works like magic. Go back in time. I always give reference to my age. I'm 40. I feel I'm right in bed. I'm in the cusp of things that are happening. I'm 40. Neither too old, I feel, and neither too young. But so much has passed. So much has passed. When I go back in history, when I go back in time and I think about the friends that I had, the cousins that I hung out with, the work environment I surrounded myself with. I did travel, then I did hospitality. Now I'm doing social media. I was trying to. I dabbled in real estate in between. Who are the people I met? Who were the people that I was attracted to? Which vibe was I attracted to? And. And now they say that your vibe attracts your tribe. So was it my wife that attracted those people to me? Or as a kid, was I looking at superheroes or people who were doing great in their fees? And I. And I. And I admired to be. I admired them, and I wanted to be in their group and their fraternity and in their circle. So did I choose my circles, or did those circles choose me? Now when I sit back and realize I'm like, you know what? A lot of it happened automatically, and when I say automatically meant means that a lot of it happened when we were drifting. And I read somewhere that you never drift to the top. You have to have a focus, you have to have a deliberate plan on who are the people who are going to be in your circle of five, which are the five books that you're going to surround yourself with? What are the five things that your mind is going to be thinking about? What is the fraternity that you'll be hanging out with? There are so many things from a BNI network to an evening meeting to. There are so many fraternity meetings that happen. You need to choose which organization you're going to be a part of, which sports communities you're going to be a part of, what TV channels you're watching, what Netflix shows you're watching. You know, what if we left. I've realized this now, that if we let ourselves drift, we keep on drifting. And sometimes drifting feels like hard work, but it's never deliberate. They say that direction is better than speed. And that's what I realized, that drifting is not in a particular direction. And also more so that the drifting does not happen because I want to drift in a certain direction. There was no direction, hence the drifting. Now I'm trying to re engineer my mind and I tell all of you to do the same as well. Think about, make deliberate actions in your life. Take deliberate steps to reach where you want to reach. Everybody talks about goal setting, everybody talks about where we need to reach, five year plan and all of that, but we need to take a deliberate, we need to have a deliberate plan which will help us reach where we want to reach. The unfortunate part is, I don't know if I should even label it as unfortunate or fortunate. But the part that comes in between there is that sometimes while doing so, you lose out on some friends that you grew up with. You lose out on some friends and family and, you know, buddies that you grew up with. Not, not because they're bad people or not because you've changed as a person. A lot of people see you've changed. That's a good thing, right? If I've changed enough, evolved, isn't that a good thing? But when you do change, the fit doesn't happen anymore. I look at it like this. These are the people in my life and this is me. And we fit because we saw eye to eye, our vibes matched and then I changed a bit and they changed a bit and now we don't fit as much. So now I'm looking for another fit and another fit and another fit. So the fits keep changing, right? So there's nothing wrong with that. If you're changing, if you're evolving, if you're going to, if you, if you have a different circle of friends and when I say different circle of friends or influencers, people who you're learning from, you still have your core set of friends. People who you can be 100% yourself with, people who bring back childhood memories. But if you are deliberately taking action to reach a certain direction, sometimes you might have to choose the kind of people who will help you have the mindset to reach where you want to reach. I hope you enjoyed this video as much as I did. Making it early in the morning here in the Internet mogul's office with Karan by my side. Thanks a lot.
