Everyday Life Hacks with Avi Arya

Avi Arya talks with Ruben about guidance in life, drawing on parental wisdom and personal principles for work and business. He shares stories about faith, patience, and how beliefs change over time.
In our life we have moments when we all need guidance. Whether it's work, whether it's home and then we. Some people tend to look to God, some people tend to look to people on earth. I know that it's always look. It's good to look to somebody who is elderly, who has more experience and more wisdom. What exactly in your life till now has been the most sound source of guidance? Be it for your work, be it for your business, be it for your personal life which you have gone back to from time to time and you have found exactly the right thing that you were looking for, the source of guidance.
My parents.
Your parents?
Yeah.
Okay.
I don't know if that was the answer that I gave you last time.
That was the short answer. And I really. Actually at that point of time when you gave me the answer, I had this question in my mind and I went back to my dad and asked him the question that I was actually looking forward to answer. Gave me a very good idea about what his life experience.
Yeah. What was it?
So basically we are in this professional race wherein sometimes it seems that the pace is slow. At this point, when I'm in a private sector, when I will go there.
Right, right.
When I'll reach that. My dad, who is a gazette officer, but he didn't become a Gazette officer just like that. So he told me a story about his experience when he started off as a demonstrator in a private college, right. Which was having no admissions. It was a homeopathic college in Nanakpura. Homeopathic. 10 like 15 years down the rupee. Previously it was not something which people look forward to.
Sure.
In medicine establishment. So he told me, Vita, that you have to be patient and you have to be, you know, just have faith in your path. I mean your path is chosen by God and you just have to, you don't have to think that it's your life. Just think that it's something given to you by God. You have to walk on it.
Sure.
His college was taken over by government.
Okay.
And he got reinstated as a government servant, a lower level demonstrator. Then after he told me how he prepared for a UPSC exam which was basically 12 positions on all India basis and selected and that was the same college. So he told me that all you need to do, you need to stick to where you are. When he was having a bad time in his college in terms of, you know, the promotion and all, he said everybody started leaving. They were qualified doctors, they started off with private practice. But he stuck.
He didn't go.
He stayed there. And the benefit was when the college was taken over, the government inducted only those employees who were on the payroll. And that's the benefit that he got because it came as a government takeover order. And that's the point of time when everything changed in his life. So he said that no matter where you are working, just stick to the employer and then come to organization. Show some faith in that. You never know when it will pay back and in what terms. Cuz as in private sector, everybody's open block. Right. His employer was also. It was a private college. Dr. Br? Sor. He is a renowned. He's not now, but he was famous person and he was. I'm proud of her father. That this guy stuck while everybody died.
Right.
Even back in 1988 and 89, the salaries were also all that.
Right.
That's how my own faith was reinforced. And I immediately realize that your advice that I don't have to open a Jordan Belfort to see what to do in life. I don't have to open a record to see what to do in my spiritual life. Just talk to my parents.
Yeah, you know what? That's the thing. I like your story. I like your dad's story a lot. But the thing is that. See, the thing is what I believe in and beliefs keep changing as you meet new people, as new experiences happen. A lot of people say, what's the difference between principles and belief? Principles of belief. My principle is that I don't want my family to have a bad name. That means when I go out and portray myself, I should do right by everybody so that people say that, you know, I mean, my dad, everybody is reflecting. You know, it reflects on my family. That's my principle, that I want to be a good human being. And I will try to be aware at all times what I'm doing. But my belief would be that I think it's a good idea to skip jobs. And then tomorrow my belief will change that. No, I have to stick to one. So Ek. Belief change. Principle change. Nahi hona chek hai. But rigid. Firbi ki CBI cheese. What I believe is that Ruben, coming back to your question, is all over the world when a motivational speaker, or any motivational speaker, everybody who motivates another person is a motivational speaker. But everybody goes to everybody. And they're not all over the Internet. When you go and type on Google, screw your parents. And you'll find so many talks, you know, screw your parents, screw your mom, they don't know anything. They Stopped you from everything you do, your own shit and all of that. Hundreds of thousands of views. But as I'm trying to become a better speaker, I'm trying to understand what the audience is looking for. But the thing is that I don't think that anybody in this world knows their product better than the founder or the owner. If you're the manufacturer of this product, you will know exactly. Similarly for Internet mogul, I have the father, I gave birth through this dimensions. Similarly, your parents know about the product that has come. As you're growing old, as you get more people in your life and more milestone in your life, you start reflecting back on yourself. You understand yourself through other people. But your parents have already understood you before you were reflecting on yourself. Weaknesses. Nobody can tell you better than your parents. They save so much time. I've got some friends and family who do so well, exceedingly well in terms of success because they only listen to their parents and they were called dumb. But they listen to their parents only. And parents, this is your weakness. Now today, 80% of the people are like, I don't like you because. And mirror hurt, right? And some parents put it very bluntly, crash in a very crass way. You can't do it. You forget about it and you feel very hurt. But it's just a way of saying it. But I mean, my answer to your question is that people should go back to their parents. People who are lucky to have their parents alive on this earth should tell their parents and trustworthy DNA exactly.
They match ours.
They know what you're thinking. There are two people, one mother and father, who know exactly what you want. They're the closest to you in terms of cell, DNA and all of that. They know you. And then we come back and be like, you know what? I'm trying to find God, I went all this while your parents are saying tika, good, good. Because you have to go all over the world to understand that. Yeah, my God was sitting with me at home only that's my belief.
No, I completely agree with you. It's something that you have this pleasure of wisdom right inside your heart. But is it that we as the younger generation sometimes get disconnected from their line of thinking, but it just takes somebody as external as you to tell you can go back to them and it's all there.
Exactly. Perfect. Thank you for your question.
Thanks.
Take care.
Thank you.
Good chat.
