Grow Your YouTube into a 6-Figure Channel in 2021 | Masterclass By @Supersisterfitness

Liz Germain shares how she built Supersisterfitness into a six-figure YouTube channel, covering monetization strategies, content planning, and the mindset shift from juggling multiple jobs to running a successful fitness business online.
To tell you the truth, like, hey, you did this really well. But this part needs to have some work. We need to readjust this structure, right? So we're brutally honest with what it takes to actually succeed on YouTube. And I think most people will be pretty shocked to see how close you are to actually generating six figures. If you're not afraid of challenges. YouTube is hard. I'm not going to lie about it. YouTube is challenging. Or it will require that you get outside your comfort zone. And what can I get from this platform? Right. These people often live a lifestyle of freedom and growth. Right? So they're not just focused on building your YouTube channel. They're also focused on how I become a better partner to my spouse. How do I become a better, better parent to my children? So what makes the difference between the broke YouTuber versus six figures of authority? Three things. Number one, they understand YouTube's search engine fundamentals. Okay, so how do you find the right keywords and where do you put them to actually get more views on your video? To get discovered on YouTube.
Hey, guys, this is Avi. Father of two girls, six dogs, husband to a superwoman, a streetcar racer turned hotelier, now social media marketer and founder of Internet moguls. Welcome to my channel. All right, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to yet another show. Today we have a special guest with us. And before we. Before we start, we always say this. The shortest distance between two human hearts is always a story. You tell a perfect stranger a good story, and you win them for life. So I told you my story. Now we request you to tell our audiences your story.
Yeah. So I'll try to give you the Cliff Notes. My name is Liz Germain. I was born and raised in Michigan, and I grew up very in a, you know, a typical Midwestern family. We didn't really. In the Midwest, health is not the highest priority. Right. Family and love and relationships, from my experience, were a higher priority. And so I never really learned how to eat healthy or exercise. It was just kind of always an afterthought. I had a very interesting experience in losing a close friend of mine to suicide when I was 18 years old. He was 19 years old. Yeah, it was really tough, but it also opened my eyes, and it was one of the greatest blessings that I've. And the deepest lessons I've ever learned where I got to really realize, okay, well, he was 19 years old. None of us are promised tomorrow. I really need to start looking at my life because I don't want to end up in the same. I don't Want to do that to my family. I had been really struggling with depression and drug and alcohol use and all that at the time, and just really didn't see, like, a positive way that my life was going to be going. And him making that choice completely opened my eyes to the reality that we all are allowed to make choices that are either going to hurt those around us or are going to help those around us. And so I made a decision at his funeral that I was going to change my life. I packed up my bags, moved all the way to California, started over somewhere new where I could start completely fresh. I started diving into books and gym classes and just anything I could learn about the human body and how to be optimally healthy, financially, spiritually, physically especially. And really, how can I take control of my life and get my life back? In that time, I learned about strength training and all the different exercise styles and stuff like that. I became very passionate about it because I noticed when I was working out, I also was not just getting physical strength, I was getting mental strength, because every one of that was like a choice. When it got hard, it's like a choice. And so I noticed the benefits in my own life of that, and I started sharing about it with my family, with friends, and all of that. My younger sister was really inspired by the transformation she'd seen me making, and so she hopped on board. And so we started kind of buddied up, and we were doing our workouts together and all of that, and we decided to start an Instagram account and a blog and, you know, all the different platforms that were out there, and we just started sharing the things that we were doing. Later on, I decided to get more serious about it, and I went to UCLA to get. I did a fitness leadership program there and actually ended up working as a fitness instructor and personal trainer at UCLA for two and a half years. And during that time, my sister were getting a lot more serious about potentially turning that into a business. And so originally, we were just sharing, you know, here's the workout we did today for the people that were in our class or for the clients that we were working with in personal training, or we would share healthy recipe ideas to help them because we, you know, we could teach them what to do, to work out, but they all struggle with nutrition still. And so we created this blog to be like a resource center for our clients and the people in our classes and really anyone who's interested in reading it. And what ended up happening with the rise of the Internet, very similar to you all Of a sudden we had women from South America, from the Middle east, from Australia, from Europe, from literally all over the world asking us, hey, can you do a workout around this? Or hey, can you give us a recipe that will make pizza healthier? Right, that was one of our things, was we would take really unhealthy foods and make healthy versions of them and teach people how to do that. And so eventually we decided to launch our first fitness program. We were hoping to get 10 people signed up online and this was like our first ever online offer. And we ended up having 350 women from, I think it was like 30 different signed up for that, which was really eye opening. We didn't charge enough. We, I think we charged like $20 or something like that. But it was our first experience of making money online and we were shocked because we were aiming for 10. 10 was like, if we get 10 people, that'll be so cool.
And we weren't sure you got 350.
Wow. We got 350 women from all over the world. And so that's when we really started to get serious about how would you turn this into a business? Because we saw that it was possible to make money online, but we certainly at that time were not making enough to leave. I at the time had four part time jobs. I was working at ucla, I was working at physical therapy clinic, I was working at this boutique triathlon training center. Like all these different things, plus I had my personal training clients. I was literally a mad woman just running around LA trying to make my rent in time, just collecting all this little cash here and there. And so at that time, when we realized it was possible to make income online, sharing the same types of things, we started to shift our energy into that and really studying what works online and all that. And so eventually over a couple years we were able to build up, you know, pretty sizable audiences. We had over 100,000 women in 32 different countries around the world. And yeah, so then a couple years ago my sister got married and decided to leave that business that we started. And luckily I had, at that point we had figured out Automations and we had a membership site. So we had this recurring revenue coming in, plus we had brand deals and sponsorship deals with our YouTube content and all that. So I didn't have like a strong pressure to, to figure it out or you know, just hustle and get, get going. Like you need to figure out what you're gonna do. So I took a year off and helped them build up a second YouTube channel. During that time and then in that year off I was also traveling and just really enjoying the fruits of my labor over the last five years. And I had a lot of people ask me, how are you? What do you do? Like how are you always, you're always going to these cool places. Like I would go to Thailand or Peru or you know, just all these different places. And so my response was always, well, YouTube. And then the second follow up question was always, well, how do you grow a YouTube channel and how do you make money from YouTube? Like it was such a foreign idea for most people to consider that you make a lot of money on the Internet, especially on YouTube. And so I decided to launch a beta program to teach other people how to build up a YouTube channel. And that went really well. And I've been doing that for the last couple years, ever since. So that's my story in a nutshell.
That's fantastic. It's such a nice. You obviously are a good storyteller. It's so chronologically perfect that I almost didn't want it to end. And I loved. I can just, I, you know, your story took me back to the same person and especially for the audience, I like to drive home this point. The same person. When you said you were running around LA to be able four jobs just to be able to make rent. Fast forward only five years. See time is going to go by anyways. But if you work hard, it goes by differently and it's different result. After five years you're traveling and thinking of your next steps without working and there's residual income coming in from the work that you put in in those five years. Fantastic. Love that story. So yes, everybody wants to start a YouTube channel. A lot of people understand there are many monetization criteria aspects all of that. So I believe you have a presentation for us on how this whole magic works. I would just make you a co host so that you can share this with all of us.
Okay. So I'm going to kind of blast through and give the more beginner person or maybe you do have your channel set up and you're just kind of stuck or you're not getting any views or anything like that. I'm going to teach you some three basic things to help you grow past 100,000 subscribers and more importantly, bring in revenue from your channel. So before we even get started, there's four ways, four main ways to monetize a YouTube channel. One is to have your own programs and services that you sell on the back end. If you don't have that available, you can become an affiliate for someone who does. Right. Typically higher price programs and products are going to give you the best commissions on affiliate type stuff. So step one or option one is sell your own stuff on the back end of your channel. Use YouTube as a way to get in front of people and let them know that you exist. Then they buy your stuff in your back end sales funnel. The second way is through if you don't have that available, become an affiliate of someone who does and create great content that attracts the right type of person who would be a great fit for those affiliate offers. The third way to monetize is through brand deals and sponsorships. I'll touch a little bit on that today. But that's, you know, it takes some influence on YouTube to actually have a partner want to work with you and get in front of your audience. So I wouldn't worry too much about that for now because we've got to build up that influence. And then the fourth way is AdSense revenue. And everybody who jumps into YouTube, they think all YouTubers are just getting paid from AdSense revenue. And I'm here to tell you that is a lie and that is not always true. Okay? So AdSense takes a long time to build up. It can also be very up and down depending on, you know, where the viewers are actually located in the world, what the topic of the video is. So you never want to rely on AdSense with your YouTube channel. So I'm going to hopefully by the end of this, reframe some of the beliefs about what it takes to actually run a YouTube based business. So let me just pull this up real quick and we'll dive into it. So we're going to talk about how to make videos that grow your YouTube channel and your business online and how do you get to having a six figure YouTube channel? So, quick little background, I just gave you my story, but this is me at the YouTube space in LA. About the second or third year into our YouTube channel, I applied for this contest with YouTube. They used to sponsor channels that were like up and coming. And I ended up winning and it was a really awesome experience. I got to go to the YouTube space in LA and basically go to an accelerated film school for a week with actual Hollywood producers, like people that are working on, you know, the Disney channel TV shows and working on Hollywood movies with the Rock and all of that. And I just, I fell so in love with the YouTube culture, the YouTube community and the fact that YouTube gives everyone, everyone, literally everyone. It doesn't matter who you are, what background you come from. It gives everyone equal opportunity to actually be who they are and get paid very well for it. So let's talk about, you know, there's a lot of information out there on YouTube. My goal today is to again, reframe some of those beliefs and show you how quickly you can actually start generating money from your channel, even if you have a small channel or even if you're just starting out. So hopefully by the end of this, I'm going to help you increase your organic reach on YouTube so you can get more views, more leads, more subscribers, and most importantly, more sales for your business. Just a quick note, take a screenshot of this. If you are wanting more support outside of just the short training, we do have a free Facebook group. It's called YouTube Marketing Mastery. This is the link for it right here. You can post all questions from today's presentation in there and me or someone on our team will get back to you. But first and foremost, why YouTube? Of all the other things available to you, there's TikTok, there's Pinterest, there's Instagram, there's Facebook, there's all these platforms, right? So why YouTube? Well, it's important to understand that YouTube is owned by Google. Google is the number one search engine in the world, and YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world. And they're actually kind of the same company, right, because Google owns YouTube. So when you understand how those search engines work and you understand how to find the types of keywords that people are searching for on those search engines, it's a lot easier for you to get discovered on YouTube, for you to show up on the first page of those search results. Right? It's for you to actually start ranking your videos and get excited exposure. YouTube is also the second most visited site in the world. I don't know if you know that. So there's massive opportunity in your ideal clients or ideal customers or even just people that you want in your community. They are on YouTube. I guarantee you that. It's got over 30 million visitors a day. So it's a huge, huge pool of the marketplace. YouTube, in my opinion, is flat out superior. The reason I came to this conclusion is because when my sister left that original business to start a new one with her husband, I did a company audit and looked at all of our lead sources and discovered to my surprise, that even though I was posting every day on Instagram, we had Facebook ads going. We were just doing a lot of work all on all these different platforms. The highest number of leads generated and the highest conversion rates came from YouTube and Pinterest. And this shocked me because I was spending all my time on Instagram. I thought that was where we were getting our customers, but we weren't. It was actually coming from these search based, video based platforms. So when I realized that, I started to completely change how I thought about where I was putting my time. And the big difference of YouTube versus all those other platforms is that it's evergreen and once you create the content, it lives there forever. So another thing to note is that only 9% of small businesses are using YouTube in their marketing. I think this has to do with the fact that there is a higher barrier to entry because it requires that you understand how to create videos and edit videos and all that. I think also a lot of people are really shy away from the camera. So what this means for you, it's a pretty blue ocean because a lot of people either just don't even touch it because they're afraid, or there's too high of a learning curve or, or they do try to do it, but they're doing it incorrectly because they don't understand how the algorithm of YouTube works and what it's actually looking for. So this means that those 30 million visitors a day, they're largely untapped because a lot of the people that they are watching too are like influencers. They're not talking about business things or things that will necessarily make their life better. So if you can figure out how to crack that code for yourself, not only can you get in front of more of the right types of people, you can also pull them into your tribe and really support them in whatever it is, whatever problems, challenges, questions that they're struggling with in their life. You can be the beacon of hope and the light that comes in and shows them how to fix those things in their life. So also recognize that the user intent of someone using YouTube is very different than the user intent of someone using a social media app. So think about the structure and the way these two softwares are built. When someone goes to a social media app like Facebook or Instagram, they're all timeline bound, meaning people will sit there and they'll be in an endless scroll. I call them slot machine apps because they're literally designed to be addictive. So when someone is on there, typically they are going on there to connect with friends, to have conversations, to look at pictures, to share memories. They're not going to those platforms to necessarily solve problems and challenges that they have. Think about Your own behavior in your own life. When you need to know how to change a tire, or you need to know how do I file my taxes, or how do I tie my shoes, really anything that you're trying to solve, where do you go? You go to Google and secondarily, you might go to YouTube too, to just watch a video. I'd rather watch a video of someone changing a tire so I can actually see it, than to try to figure it out on my own by reading an article. So it's really important to understand that the user intent on YouTube is very, very different than it is on social media apps. YouTube's also global, obviously, and it's evergreen, meaning there's not that timeline feature, right? So you create the content once. If you do it right, that content will pay off for you forever. I have videos that I made four years ago that still generate visibility, that still generate sales for affiliate partners, and that are still working for me, even though it was four years ago. I did that work. So that's a huge benefit to me because I'm all about working smarter, not harder. Video also converts better. This is just common knowledge. If you're new to marketing, surprise, surprise. When you're on video, people feel like they actually know you, right? So it's a lot easier. They feel like they already have a relationship with you because they're interacting with you in the digital space, right? It's very different than just reading a message from someone when they can actually see the way you speak, see your mannerism, see what are your values, and all that comes out better in video. Again, YouTube doesn't have any timeline features, so things don't get archived, right? If you were to try to go pull up a post from four years ago on Facebook, it might take you 20, 30 minutes and you even know where that post is, right? So imagine your ideal customer, they don't even know you made the post. How are they ever going to find it on those platforms? It's a lot harder. YouTube makes that much easier. So if you do the work right on YouTube once, it'll pay off forever. And it will help you to create security in your business too, because it's evergreen and it will help you generate leads, you know, pretty much forever. There's really no limitation on how long a YouTube video can work for you. So I'm going to kind of blast through some of these just for sake of time. But that first original channel that we created within that first year we generated, we started generating around 250,000 in annual recurring Revenue, which continued on for the following several years. It was enough to allow both my sister and I to leave all of our little piecemeal part time jobs, which was awesome. It's currently about to hit 150,000 subscribers. So even though I haven't posted content actively on there, the channel is still growing. That community is still thriving. I was featured in Women's Health, Gap, Bowflex. We worked with some of the biggest companies in the world. And I think why people really like to come to us for YouTube support is because if your video is not good, we're not going to cheer you on and say, oh, you did a great job. We're going to tell you the truth, like, hey, you did this really well. But this part needs to have some work. We need to readjust this structure, right? So we're brutally honest with what it takes to actually succeed on YouTube. And I think most people will be pretty shocked to see how close you are to actually generating a six figure revenue stream from a YouTube channel by the end of what we talked about today. So if you are the person who can actually provide real results for your customers and clients, you actually care about whether they get those results. You have an offer the market actually needs. You're ready to grow and scale by creating those lead gen assets instead of just relying on, you know, what if your Facebook account ad account gets shut down? That's happened for many of our clients before, which is why they came to us, is like, we need to diversify our lead gen systems, right? So if you're ready to do that, YouTube's perfect for you. If you're not afraid of challenges. YouTube is hard. I'm not going to lie about it. YouTube is challenging or it will require that you get outside your comfort zone and be seen. Right? So this is like, again, I think this is why only 9% of small business owners are using YouTube, because it is very challenging and you will face a lot of confronting growth opportunities in your YouTube journey. So just put that out there. If you're open to real feedback. Again, you know, we don't tell you, hey, your video sucked to make you feel bad. We're telling you that so that you can make it better and so we can dissect what worked, what didn't work, how do we make this better, more entertaining, more engaging from a human psychology standpoint and all of that. So please be open to real feedback also if you want to automate more of your processes. I know for me, back when, back in the day when I was living in la, working all those different jobs, I just felt like I was a chicken running around with my head cut off. I was trying to do everything. There's no systems, there's no real processes. I was 24 years old when I started that business, had never run a business before, did not have anyone helping us. It was just a whole Mess. So with YouTube now, we have systems and processes that can help you with the massive workload that does come with it. Because not only do you have to produce the videos, you got to edit the videos, but there's a way to do that in a more automated, systemized way. So we can help support you with that. And last but not least, and probably most importantly, if you want more security, again with lead gen in your business, you don't want to ever be hands tied behind your back because your Facebook ad account got shut down. So if you are the person also who you just don't know what to film, you don't know what to put on video, you could talk about 16,000 different things. Well, which one do you start with? And how do you create a content strategy instead of just making these one off videos? If you feel like you've been spending a ton of time and money creating videos already, you upload them to YouTube and then no one sees them. This training is for you. If you struggle to make higher quality content, maybe you're just, you know, using your phone, or maybe you're just using your webcam or whatever it is, or you feel like, oh, I need this big fancy film crew. It needs to be super overproduced, like both of those are, they're solvable. Okay, I can help you with those production processes as well. We won't go too much into production today because I want to really focus on the planning. Like, what do you actually, what videos you actually need to go film. But if you've also been the person who's considered buying subscribers, do not do that is the worst thing you could do. Or maybe you've downloaded some of the keyword research tools that YouTube has available and you've tried to like look at the data and figure out search volume versus search pool and all that, but you still understand what you're looking at. If you have too many ideas and you can't seem to choose what to film out of those ideas, or if you've just been saying to yourself, this happens a lot, I'll get to that later. I do want to do YouTube, but I'm not ready yet. Okay, I'll get to that later. That's that's everyone almost. So this training is for you. If any of those things resonated, this training is for you if you want more views, subscribers and targeted leads from YouTube. Also, if you want more of the right people to actually take action from your videos, not just watch them and then disappear and forget about you. If you want to sell more of your stuff, whether that's programs, products, services online without coming across as pushy or slimy or salesy, if you want people to actually be excited to work with you again, they'll feel like through video they already have a relationship with you as opposed to you going to them and trying to convince them that they should work with you. Right? All of the stuff I'm going to teach you today works best for experts in their field. Coaches, consultants, course creators, digital marketers, info products sellers, influencers, or basically anyone who wants to generate more evergreen leads and sales from YouTube. So before we jump in, this training is not for people who do not have sought after skills or can't provide value to the marketplace in any way, shape or form. Okay. It's also not for people who just want to get rich quick or be Internet famous, right? If that's you, I'm sure there are people out there that could help you with that. But that's not what we're here for. We're here to help the people that actually want to help other people make this world a better place. Also, if you're not willing to put in the work or time, YouTube's probably not for you. If you don't want to actually help other people, you just are trying to help yourself. Again, we're probably not the best fit for you. Or if you're looking for cheat codes, you know, growth hacks, tricks and tips to become an overnight success, that's just not realistic. YouTube takes a while to figure out. Okay? There's skills that you're gonna have to learn, so be patient. If you've never had a client or customer before, probably wouldn't recommend you start out on YouTube quite yet. Try to get some more cash flow stabilization in the business first and then reinvest that back into the business. Or if you're the type of person that makes excuses or procrastinates and doing on showing up and doing the work required. YouTube will never work for you. I'm just gonna let you know right now, we can just be done with it. Okay? So if that's not you, and you are the original person that this is best for, pay attention. This is the sad reality of most YouTubers, okay? Or at least what most people think of YouTubers. They spend all their time working, working, working, trying to get views, trying to get subscribers, but it's just not working. And they're certainly not making any money. So I'm gonna give you a distinction between a six figure YouTube authority versus that broke YouTuber archetype. Okay? The broke YouTuber, constantly stressed out, barely making money, but they're obsessed with views and subscribers. That seems to be all they care about is like, how do I get more rich from AdSense revenue. Again, we already talked about the challenge with that. Spending all their time doing videos, but they barely get. Just build a huge channel and then sell T shirts. It's very hard to do. I don't recommend it. They often don't know how to grow and scale a business to six figures and beyond. They're trying to sell things to anyone and everyone who will listen to. They're not as profitable as they should be. And oftentimes they feel kind of like a loser because it's like, well, I'm doing all this work, but no one seems to care, right? So they're ready to give up completely versus six figure YouTube authority. They work smarter, not harder. Systemize as much as possible. They know exactly how many clients they need to get every month to hit their revenue goals. They only work with high quality targeted clients they love. Okay? So they're not just taking any sale they can get. They're actually vetting the clients that they want to work with and that they know are a good fit. They always come up from a place of service. If you walk away with nothing else from this training, just know the people that show up on YouTube from a place of service to the community are the ones that always grow 10x faster than the ones that show up and say, what can I get from this platform? Right? These people often live a lifestyle of freedom and growth, right? So they're not just focused on building your YouTube channel. They're also focused on how do I become a better partner to my spouse, how do I become a better parent to my children, right? So these are common themes that we see among these people. They're not stressed out about paying the bills. They understand that investing in speed and strategy is one of the best ways to grow fast. And they usually get really good testimonials because they generally tend to be very, very good people that find video creation and their YouTube journey very fun and very profitable. So excuse me. The reason I tell you this is because I used to be the broke YouTuber. You guys, that was me. This is me back in my personal training days. We made a couple thousand dollars in the first few months of that business. Certainly not enough to leave our jobs or anything like that, but it was enough to again realize, hey, there's an opportunity here. At the time I was working those four other jobs, could barely make ends meet. I was living in la, which is one of the most expensive cities in the world. It was rough. I was stressed out. I barely, barely slept. There's a lot going on. Um, also didn't really have any, like, growth momentum. So that was really challenging. It was like every day the drudgery of having to like, do all this work but not see the returns right away. It was very challenging. Um, and a lot of this is because I didn't know how to make the videos that people were actually looking for. Okay. I didn't know how to position myself as an authority. Um, I was also super distracted trying to do everything on every platform and thought, oh, well, I'll save money by just doing it all by myself. Completely wrong. Not the way to go. And this is most important. I was trying to pull stunts to get people to pay attention. The reason I throwing these screenshots in here is to show you what I mean by pull stunts. We wore witch hats. We did a burpee tuck jump challenge that was basically like, hey, for however many likes this video gets, we'll record a follow up video of us doing that many burpee tuck jumps. Okay, cool. Who cares? I mean, we got a couple hundred likes, so like, it was definitely a really hard workout. But here's us, like trying to pull stunts to get people paying attention. I even once dressed up as a dude and did like a cameo cover of a Christmas song. Just the whole thing, right? And you can see these videos are all really short. On average, over the last six, seven years, these videos have gotten maybe 100 views total. Max 200. Okay. You can even, I think I set them to unlisted, so I don't know if you can actually see them publicly anymore. But they're still on the channel and they don't have any views. So you can see with this, there's no branding, there's no positioning. The videos are too short. They're not actually providing value for anyone else. It's all kind of like, look at me type of approach. Right. Completely switched that to that place of service. What can I give to this? Changed the branding. Got way more authority with it. This video, which was a few Years ago just cracked 8 million all organic views. Several other videos are ranking for very competitive terms in fitness. And fitness is a very competitive marketplace. Right. So we rank for terms like best tricep workouts for women, best shoulder workouts for women, how to do the splits. There's all different types of techniques and stuff like that that we show up on the first page for. So what makes the difference between the broke YouTuber versus six figure YouTube authority? Three things. Number one, they understand YouTube's search engine fundamentals. Okay, so how do you find the right keywords and where do you put them to actually get more views on your video to get discovered on YouTube? The second thing is optimization secrets and how to actually automate the processes of taking someone from YouTube and getting them into your sales funnel. And then the third, we'll talk very briefly about the YouTube selling system and I'll share with you our 3C funnel formula to show you how to actually create a YouTube funnel for your business. So here's some quick stats just to show you. For the first channel I was talking about again we were featured on Women's Health, Fox, all these different places. This was the second channel. They're actually a little bit over 180,000 subscribers currently. They're making good, good money. They just, they are about to clear million dollars in revenue this last year. They were so close to hitting it in 2020, but 2021, I still probably.
Go up a million dollars from 166,000 subscribers.
Wow. Yeah. And that was a, that was a few years that it took them to build up to that. They don't just do YouTube to be clear. They, they have a service based side of the business and they have a digital product side of their business. So it's a, they have a few different offers on the back end, but.
Still the recognition and the marketing tool was YouTube and that's fantastic.
Yes, exactly. So these are some of the other clients we've helped grow. I mean we've helped hundreds at this point. So if nothing else, just know vanity metrics like views and subscribers on YouTube are not everything. They actually don't really matter long term if you want to be profitable and actually make a difference in people's lives. So we're going to cover that. But just remember in your videos, always try to speak to one person. Do not think of it as like, oh, I'm going to give this video, it's going to be millions and millions of views. Don't think about that. Literally just connect with the person, the single individual on the other side of the screen, who's watching your stuff.
Listen, you know what, let me just take a quick pause here for a second and I tell you exactly what I'm thinking right now. And think aloud. I'm like, this is fantastic stuff. Kudos to me and my team for actually getting you to say yes to share all of this with us and give us your time.
Yeah, no worries.
This is fantastic. Thank you. All right.
Yeah. I mean, I'm on a mission to give people our permission slip to be themselves and actually get paid well for it. But there are strategies that you do need, especially on YouTube, in order to do that. And the main thing is you've got the front end content on YouTube, but you need that back end funnel if you actually want to monetize. So you need those offers. You need something to offer them, right, that will help them solve those problems and challenges that they have, no matter what. Remember, same with YouTube. Rome was not built in a day. So towards the end, obviously, I'll share more ways you can get in touch with us. If you want to go even deeper with this, I'm going to kind of blast through this stuff and jump right into the first principle, which is using keywords.
Sorry, I'm just going to mute myself and remove my video and have only you on the screen.
Perfect. Okay, so let's talk about keywords. So secret number one, use targeted keywords to get found on YouTube. Okay. Because the truth is, it doesn't matter how good your stuff is or how amazing you are if no one can find your stuff. So when it comes to YouTube, this comes straight from YouTube. They taught me this when I went in for that contest. They did a study of all the fastest growing, highest engaged channels on the platform. And what they found were these patterns and types of content that all of those really good channels, very successful channels, had three types of content. Hub content, help content, and hero content. Okay, so hub content is like, if you think about your YouTube channel, like a TV show, this would be like your regularly scheduled weekly programming. You wouldn't necessarily want to start with hub content because it's not necessarily discoverable. Right? So the second type of content is hero content. Think of this as more of the storytelling content. These are the videos that are designed to create and deepen the emotional connection you have with your viewer. So, so this could be like taking them through a hero's journey, telling the why behind the brand, sharing your origin story. Right? What is the mission that you're on and how can people join you on that mission. This could also be taking a stand against something controversial in the world. It could be taking a stand for what you stand for in your company or what you are actually doing to help support people. So these are more of those, like traditional story arcs and things like that. And then the third type of content was help content. This is where we always recommend everyone starts on YouTube because this is what's searchable and discoverable on YouTube. This could be like top frequently asked questions, how to's tutorials. Right? You're demonstrating how to actually solve a problem, answer a question, or fix a situation that's not desirable. Okay, so we're gonna start with help content because that's how people actually find you on the YouTube platform. So remember, there's what you want to say, but then there's what the people on the Internet, especially on YouTube, are actually interested in. Right. There's the things that they're going to Google and YouTube to try to figure out on their own. And this is where your videos become relevant. Okay, so how do you. Actually, I'm going to skip through this real quick because we don't really need that. I'm going to jump right into how to actually identify the keywords on YouTube that are best for your industry. So step number one is to look what's at what's already been successful on the platform. So we're going to take you over to YouTube, for example, and let's say I am a dating coach. I'm going to just literally search on YouTube for dating coach. And what I'm going to do is I'm going to filter the results by channel. Okay. So what this is going to do is this is going to show me some of the top people in that dating Coach Space on YouTube. So let's go to. Let's go to this guy just to start. Okay. Then you're going to go to their videos tab and I want you to sort them by most popular. And what you're looking for here is any patterns of titling of thumbnails, et cetera, that you're noticing. Any themes of content that show up on all the top dating Coach channels on YouTube. Right. A lot of times what you'll see in doing a little bit of this research and recon of your competitors is, hey, every single dating Coach on YouTube, they're all doing a video around this topic. Okay, great. Well, you need to write that down because you should have that too. Right. So we're looking for patterns in what's actually successful on here. We're seeing a lot of Dating Expert Reacts. Right. So maybe you have a series on your channel where it's a Dating Expert Reacts that's performing very, very well for this channel. Right. So you can kind of do that and get a. Get a finger on the pulse of what's already successful on YouTube. That's step one is look at the top creators and see, and not just top creators, you also want to look at the people that are on their eyes and see if you notice any themes of what's going on. Right. So sort their videos by most popular and start taking notes on what you're finding. From there, we're going to jump into the actual keyword research. So once you have that initial brainstorm based on what's already working on YouTube, then you got to go step by step and look at individual keyword opportunities. So we go back to YouTube. There are three tools right here. Whoops. Three tools. Keywords everywhere, VidIQ and TubeBuddy, they all have free versions. If you don't have those installed yet, it's a chrome extension. Go install them now. It will change the way you look at YouTube forever. Okay, so what you're going to do is use those tools. This one right here, you won't see that if you don't have keywords everywhere installed. Right. So when I type in Dating Coach, that tool is showing me how many searches a month it's getting on average over the last 12 months. So already I can tell. You know, a video around being a Dating coach will probably get more visibility than Dating Coach for women. Right. Same thing happens for you know how to get dates from Bumble. Right. Think about what your ideal clients are actually struggling with. We can see this has zero searches a month, so probably not the video that I want to make. So instead what do I do? I'm going to actually just look at Bumble and see what people are looking for related to Bumble. Right. So we can see Bumble versus Tinder. That would be a great video topic. And we've got 12,000 people looking for that every single month. So what are the differences? What types of quality dates can you find on those two sites? Right. So there's this will tell you what are the most popular topics on YouTube that people actually want to see. So again, this is where you marry what you want to talk about with what the Internet is actually searching for or not the Internet, the people on the Internet are actually looking for. That way you can become relevant and show up in front of their feed. You can show up on this first page of ranking. So that's step two. Obviously we don't have time to go into all the nitty gritty details, but essentially what you're looking for, this number, right, this search volume number, which is keywords everywhere, will show you that information. And then let's say I go over here and this is tubebuddy right here. You want to also look at the search pool. So how many videos already exist for this topic. You can find this information by clicking there for the weighted information. And tubebuddy will tell you the number of videos in search results is 1 million. Right? So maybe too competitive, but this was how to get dates from Bumble was the original term, Right. Remember that had zero people looking for it and it has a million videos that already exist. So not only do we know it's competitive, but no one's looking for it. So that's not a topic you would want to do. If we did Bumble first, Tinder, remember that one had around 12,000 searches a month. Now we can see how many videos that that has existing on YouTube already. Wow. If I was a dating coach, I actually would film this video literally, because there's only 208,000 videos on YouTube on that topic, but it's got 12,000 people looking for it. This was like the perfect term I could have chosen for this training. So if you want to succeed on YouTube, low competition, high search volume, that's the formula. That's all you're looking for for the most part. I mean, keyword research is kind of two parts. We got the quantitative analysis there where we're looking at those numbers and that data. We also have the qualitative analysis of seeing what is ranking on the first page for those terms. Right. And how can I do better? How can I create a more engaging thumbnail, a better title that's more intriguing, right? That actually drives someone to click on it, that has some elements of curiosity or something new. Right. There's certain elements of human psychology that you can work into the strategy as well. But that's essentially how you do it, is you're just looking at that numbers or at those numbers, and then you're also looking at the videos that are already doing well on the platform and you're reverse engineering it to figure out what you need to do to succeed there. So jumping back over here, that's step two. One thing to note is you may also find breakout terms. Okay, so this is what a breakout term would look like. It's like when no one's searching for it, no one's searching for it. It basically doesn't exist. And then all of a sudden, something happens. Either there's a news story or breaking news, or, you know, a new software comes out. Right. Right. Now, perfect example of this is Clubhouse. There was zero search traffic around that for the last forever because it didn't exist. But now all of a sudden, everybody wants to search Clubhouse, right? So on my new YouTube channel, by the way, I'm starting a new one. That was the first video I did because I knew I wanted to make my video here. Before that search traffic, that trending traffic started to increase even more. So there's kind of like a couple different ways that you can approach this, too. So please do note that breakout terms are also amazing to capture. So once you've gone through that, you've got your brainstorm, you've done the individual research around each one of those topics. Let's say you find some winning keywords that are like a lot of people are looking for it, and it doesn't have a whole lot of competition around this, then it's time to put that into your actual content plan. So where do you put those keywords in the videos titles? Right? You want the keyword as close to the beginning of the title as possible, plus some compelling reason to watch it. You also want it in the first two to three lines of your video description. And then you want the target keyword plus a few synonym keywords. Right. Different ways to say the same thing, and then a couple category tags. So if someone finds you, for example, on Instagram, right, and they go to Google and they're trying to find more of your stuff, you want to make sure that your name is one of the default upload tags for all of your videos. That way, when someone's looking for your stuff online, it's easier for YouTube's algorithm to know that when someone types in your name, let's pull up all of their videos around it. Okay? So with general keywords, you want them in the titles, in the tags, and in the video descriptions. And then you also want to make sure that you're saying it out loud at some point in the actual video itself. A couple other things on metadata, your titles of the movie files as well as the titles of the JPEG files for your thumbnails should ideally be your target keyword as well. This all. It's not going to be like a make or break thing. Oh, I forgot to rename my thumbnail JPEG title. Right. But all of these things will add up and show the YouTube algorithm, hey, this is high quality content and it's related to the search query that people are actually typing in. Okay? So that's where the keywords actually need to go inside the video. You're going to essentially repeat this process until eventually one of your videos will take off. I guarantee you that. Because this is how YouTube works. So when you have that breakout video, then your next step is to start piggybacking off of your own success. We want to start stacking your authority on that topic. Because when YouTube is telling you, hey, people really like this video, which you will see in a direct correlation of massive views, right? Lots of comments and engagement, your subscribers start going up and up. YouTube's telling you what YouTube wants to see more of from you, right? So if you have that, when you have that breakout video, then we're going to stack the authority on it and continue to make related but not competing videos to that original topic. One side little note too, this whole strategy is building into series and playlists. Okay? So stop thinking of just making one off YouTube videos at a time. I want you to instead think of your YouTube channel from the top down and figure out what are the main topics, the three or four main topics that I teach on or that I help people with and then start to figure out, especially once you get a little bit of information around what YouTube is actually resonating with or the people on YouTube and you want to start to think about what types of series and playlists can I start to develop with this? Because it's a lot better to link your instead of to an individual video where it's like a one and done, link them to a video from within a playlist where let's say you have 10 videos on a topic they're interested in. They watch that first video now, the likelihood that they watch the rest of the videos is much, much higher. And what that does is it helps grow your watch time on the channel. And then the higher your watch time gets, the more YouTube sends you traffic and it's just kind of a snowball effect from there. Okay, so obviously we're just kind of blasting through some of the basics today. If you want to actually get the step by step screen shares and tutorials for how to do all this stuff, you can head over to get help with YouTube.com we have a whole course designed just for that. Okay, Second success principle of the six figure YouTube authority, not the broke YouTuber is optimization. So I'm going to share with you some of the things and conversion features on YouTube that people don't usually know about, including info cards and screens. The video watermark links in your description, the confirmed subscription code that you can use on your channel, how to do feature videos, and how to pin comments on your videos. So first, let's start with info cards. These are the little I characters that pop up in the top right corner of the video. You can link those to relevant lead magnets, right? Different offers that you have. You can link them directly to your courses, you can link them to other videos or playlists on the channel to again, help your watch time go up. Or if you are a YouTube partner, you can actually link directly to your website using these info cards. So how perfect is that? You're talking about something in your video and you say, hey, by the way, if you want to go deeper with this, click right here to sign up. So it's really easy to use info cards to get people off of YouTube into your funnels. Also with end screens, you're allowed to feature two video elements and a subscribe button. And once you become a YouTube partner, you can also link from your end screens off site. So these are a couple examples of optimized end screens. You want to have your last 20 seconds of every single video slap an end screen on it, because that's where again, if someone made it to the end of the video, the likelihood they want to watch more stuff from you is probably going to be pretty high. So let's make it easy for them and just put it right there at the end of the video. It can help you increase watch time, increase your subscriptions, and increase leads if you are a YouTube partner and linking off site. Okay, real quick. The video watermark is what displays at the very bottom right corner of your YouTube videos. This can be edited inside of YouTub Studio under customization. This is actually a secret subscribe link. So don't put your company logo there. Put a subscribe call to action. Speaking of subscriptions, whenever you're linking to your YouTube channel, don't just link to the channel link alone. Add this code in red here. This question mark sub confirmation equals 1. Because what it does is when someone clicks on this link with that little code, YouTube will pop up this box to ask them to subscribe. Okay, so little tips and tricks for you guys. And then last but not least, pin comments. So a lot of people don't know this. This is a feature they added a couple years ago. You on every video should be commenting on your own video with somewhere they can go to learn more or go deeper with you. Okay, so what you would do is comment on your own video once it gets published, and then you can pin that comment to the very top. And those, those, they don't restrict where you link to with those comments. Okay, so you can link to lead magnets, your offers, like if you have a course or program or something. We do recommend using link shorteners for this, just so that you can track if they're actually getting clicks. Something like Bitly will show you how many people are actually clicking on those links. It just makes it a little bit easier for you when you're measuring roi. So those are some of the hidden conversion features of YouTube that you can use to help improve your success over there. And then last but not least, I want to talk about not relying on subscribers, because the reality is we have channel. We probably have a dozen channels from our students that are under 1,000 subscribers, but they're making over $10,000 a month. Okay? So you do not need to rely on subscribers to make good money from YouTube. I want to share with you our 3C funnel formula so that you can start generating leads and sales right away. You don't have to be huge on YouTube to make good money. Okay, so this is it. Number one, we have to capture their attention. Then we need to connect with them by either sharing valuable information that's important to them or sharing a story that resonates with them or that they can identify with. And then last but not least, convert. Okay? So give them an opportunity to go deeper with you. A very simple script you can use for this is if you like this video, then you're really going to like this other thing. Make sure you click the link in the description box below to get access to it. Okay, so all of these strategies help you build a YouTube channel funnel. Not just a YouTube channel that's like random content. No, there's very simple, distinct strategies that we're using to, number one, get people's attention over there, get them onto your video, and then get them off of YouTube and into your email list. Your marketing funnels book a sales call with you. Whatever your systems look like, channel funnels help to build authority. They also help you focus on just one thing, not all of these different things. They help you automate that lead flow, help you stop wasting time and spinning your wheels with YouTube, and will open up the possibility of you generating good income from your channel, even if it's smaller, even if you're just starting out. Okay, so when you're capturing attention, your Hook is the first, maybe 10, 20 seconds of the video. It's got to be something that actually will get them curious about what's in the rest of the video. Okay. So ideally, you want to be saying that target keyword out loud in that hook and then tell them what the benefit or result they'll get by watching the full video is. Okay. So this is also the place where you can share any credibility that you have. What qualifies you to speak on this? What results have you gotten for other people or that you've gotten for yourself that are relevant to them? And then last but not least, you want to always have some sort of a call to action, right? Like subscribe with the notification bell so you never miss an episode. Okay, let's get into the content then. When you're getting into the content, this is the connection phase. Okay? So you've got about five to 10 minutes to really connect with a human being that you've never met on the other side of the screen. You can deliver your content in one of two ways. Number one, one of the simplest ways to do it is through numbered lists. So you can share three to five main points on a topic that is related to that target keyword. That's a super simple, like, formulaic way to deliver content. The other side takes a little bit more study of human influence and story arcs and stuff like that, but weaving the same type of information into a story arc where there's like a hero's journey in there where someone's experiencing a transformation and really giving the reason why it's important instead of just the hard facts of what it is. Right. We all know facts tell, stories sell, so you know that that's a skill. It takes some practice to learn those story arcs and actually incorporate data into an emotionally based journey for someone. Right. But ideally, you're doing that in five to 10 minutes, and then the last one to two minutes is the conversion opportunity. Right? So again, another call to action to subscribe and stick around and then always, always, always tell them where to get more information. So again, if you like this video, you're really going to like this other thing. So hopefully that helps to kind of map out those three distinct differences for sake of time. I have a couple minutes before I have my next call. I just wanted to make sure that everything was good to go. If you need more support and help find me in that Facebook group, reach out to me. That was fantastic. A masterclass. This was very selfish of me. I, you know, I was taking notes as I was talking to you. It's supposed to be for my audience, but I learned so much as well. Liz, thank you so much. I'm going to, you know, I think if your team has not already, then I'll request all the description for your channel and everything so we can put it at the end of this video. And so I'm just going to, I'm just going to sort of give the outro and stop this and then have a quick one minute discussion with you. So, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, thank you very much for watching. 58 minutes went by like this. When you learn so much, I love the story arcing in your own presentation from the beginning to the end. You had me when you showed me the three videos that you tried yourself which were not doing well from becoming a dude and all of that. And from there I was like, you know, she's actually done those mistakes most of us make. And now let's see what she did to be come on to the other side. So the great storytelling format and 58 minutes. Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Thank you very much for joining here. I'll be putting in all the links to the to Liz and her channel and how to reach out to her for you to be able to help grow your YouTube channel. You'll be able to reach out from those links directly to her and her team to be able to work with her and grow your YouTube channels. Thank you for watching once again.
