How to Grow Your Online Coaching Business in 2021? | Actionable Insights from top 10 coaches

Ten coaches share how they grew their online businesses, including Dr. Rashmi Shetty, Barry, Lauren Fogelman, and others. They discuss digital marketing strategies, mindset shifts, and how to pick the right coach for your goals.
But I'm like, where do I want to be? I want to be a successful coach with a six digit, maybe seven digit business one day. What would that person decide? Something that will bring you alive. Something that will make your heart sing. And if you do that, life will guide you itself. You will know what to do.
I think it takes some wisdom to do that and some humility. But that makes all the difference in terms of how you can move forward.
You are looking to develop yourself like a group CEO or a CEO of a business. You need to look for an executive coach.
Ladies and gentlemen, thank you very much for your time. Really, really appreciate this. My dad always says the most expensive thing you can ask from people is not their money but their time. So I deeply am honored for all of you people to take time out and I've always loved to be able to. My wife always says since you were in school or university, what you always loved was to getting, getting some of your friends introduced to other sets of your friends and make and seeing what comes out of it. So this is what I love to do. I'm going to take a few minutes to start this with a short introduction of who I am and what I do and why I do all of this. So the 29th of October, a couple of months back I turned 44. But the story that I want to tell all of you is when I was 18 years old, born and brought up in New Delhi, all I wanted to do in life was to race streetcars. My dad used to go to sleep at night from under his pillow, I would take out his car keys, go race with people. And I was like, this is what I love, you know, the rush of racing cars. And I was like, I want to go overseas to learn this and maybe become a streetcar racer. As an 18 year old, I was one of the only few people in my, in my friend circle who knew exactly what he wanted. But I think life had other plans for me. One day I got a call from my dad saying he needs me to immediately come to his office, which was the other side of town. And, and I'd almost never been there. When I reached there, I remember walking in, there was a red carpet on the wooden floor. There was a smell of incense. Agarbatti, he had just finished his prayers. And there were these two landline phones, you know those phones with wires coming out from the walls. There were these phones which were off the hook. Now my dad's phones were never off the hook. I knew there was a serious conversation happening. He said Sit down, son. I'm going to make this very short. He said, for various reasons, we've lost a lot of money in the business. I have to sell the house, we have to sell the cars. There's no more overseas education for you. And as the eldest son in the family, you need to start working with me in the business from tomorrow so we can start reviving everything. This was not the best way of breaking this kind of news to a youngster. In two minutes he told me that my life has changed. I darted out of the room and I said, I'm never coming back. And he gave me two options. Either join the business or leave the house. I said, I'm never coming back. I left the house, left the room, I went outside. In true Bollywood movie style, my mom was waiting outside. I had a nice three, four hour conversation with her. And now when I tell this story, looking back, I feel better. Sense prevailed because the very next morning I found myself behind the reception of my dad's small 27 room motel. This was a small motel with a restaurant and a coffee shop. I learned how to take care of the coffee shop, housekeeping the customers. But I also realized that my dad is doing a fantastic job of doing what he's doing already. So that left no space for me to, you know, sort of shine. How do I, As a young 18 year old find my place under the sun? During that time there was a, you know, one day there was this international tourist, he walked into the hotel, he, he paid us in Dutch gilders. Hi David. So starting with a story of why we are doing this and then we move ahead. So an international tourist walked in and he paid us in Dutch gilders and you know, currency of Holland. Before the euros came in, we converted the Dutch guilders. It turned out to be double Indian rupees. Now I'm thinking to myself, what if I'm able to convert all 27 rooms into foreign paying guests, I double the income, double the revenue, and maybe one day my dad will have the money and I can go back and pursue my dream of racing cars, go overseas and all of that. Maybe now, finally I was back on track because I had a plan I needed, I had something to work towards. The only thing was, how do you in the late 90s, get connected to connect a small 27 room motel to people all over the world? During that time, ladies and gentlemen, there was a new phenomenon on the market called the Internet. This was a service that would connect people in different parts of the world. Again, there was a challenge in New Delhi. There were two places, the Sheraton Hotel and the British school library. Only two places had access to the Internet. 400 rupees which was approximately 8, $9 at that point in time for a 30 minute access, prohibitively expensive. I managed to go there twice and it blew my mind away on how I could interact with anybody. I chatted with people, understood what we could do and now I wanted the Internet full time. After about six months of wait I saw an ad in the paper Satyam Computers looking for cyber cafe partners. Contact manager Rohit Sikant. Rohit after 20 years is still a friend of mine because I was one of the first people to contact him. After three months of unnecessary paperwork I got six computers and a cyber cafe in my dad's restaurant. Now ladies and gentlemen, I had 24 hour access to the slowest Internet on the planet. And website would open morning. By the afternoon I had half of it open. By the evening I could see the entire website. But I started communicating with people and I said this is my aim, I want people from overseas to come and stay here. And they were like why don't you get a website? Great idea. Website again early in the 2000s, how do I get a website? Only Bangalore based companies were doing websites for international companies. There was nobody doing it for small companies. I somehow reached out to their developers and said can you do this for me on the part time? So they said we do it in three months. Obviously those three months took six months. The website was ready, the launch date happened and my website was launched. That ladies and gentlemen, which in my, in my young head, which I thought would be the turning point in my life, nothing happened. That was my first ever business lesson in life that life is a series of small successful events. If you keep going and don't stop, it's never one event. Website launched, everything launched. One year gone, nothing happening in my business. I went back into the chat forums, asked people what I should do. Somebody said translate your website into different European languages. Somebody said put toll free numbers, whatever people said. I kept on doing another six months went by. I, I started getting queries from people in North America. I'm replying to these queries. My first ever interaction with this thing called email. Back and forth, back and forth. On 15 December, a family of four people came to the New Delhi airport. I took a taxi, picked them up, got them back into my dad's guest house, check them into room 302. They paid me $400 for a 14 day stay. And I remember Coming back and giving that money to the cashier and telling myself, my God, Abby, this bloody Internet thing works. And I was so sure about my future after that. And I. So I quadrupled down my efforts on making the Internet everything in my life. To cut the long story short, ladies and gentlemen, in the next few years we had so much business coming in. I was not the first amongst the first ten. I was the first hotel in the country, a small hotel, to go live. There was maybe a Marriott, maybe a blog from somebody who'd ever been to India, and there was nobody else on the Internet. So I was ruling the Internet for a good two two and a half years. That gave me a position that nobody had at that point in time. In hindsight, I realized the position I was in. And my first book was called the Accidental First Mover. I was ahead of everybody by years. We were able to pay off our debt and we bought four more. 1, 2, 3, 4. We had four more small motels in the next five years, we outright bought them and everything changed. The revenue, the profitability, and now the relationship with my dad. The gentleman who wanted to throw me out of the house was now having strategy discussions with me. So that was chapter one of my life. Chapter two was when I started asking my customers who were staying in these motels, what else can I do for you? And they said, we would love to travel to India, but we find no information on the websites. By now I was confident I know how to make and rank a website. So I got carried away as a 25 year old in my early 20s. So I bought hundred domains and I built multiple websites. All of them flopped, Only four did well. One of them was doing getting a lot of traffic. One day I got a call from an Indian equivalent of Expedia called Make My Trip from India. They said, we love the traffic on your website. Can we do an affiliate with you? I didn't want to sound like a fool on the phone and tell them I don't know what an affiliate meant. So I said, can you send me an email? I'll get back to you on that email. They said, we'll give you six to seven hundred rupees for the conversion of every single ticket. I still didn't understand what they meant and what I had to do, but I can. I diverted my traffic to them. Whatever conversions happened, they gave me 700. In the next few weeks we started doing 60 to 70 tickets a day. It's not a huge volume, but I was making six to seven hundred dollars a day back in 2005 on the back of my second venture from the Internet. By now I was getting more and more confident. Now we move into somewhere around 2006, 2007, XP, TripAdvisor, Facebook, all of these large companies come into India and they're all working with multinational companies and they want to work now with a small, with smaller businesses. They heard about my story and they wanted me to be sort of an evangelist for digital for small businesses and said they asked me to. They invited me to travel with them all around Asia to speak at various events and tell people what's happened in my life. As you can see in our last 10 minutes of interaction, I love speaking. So when I got an opportunity to speak on stage, I said yes to every single opportunity I went across Asia, I spoke to people, I told them about my story. At the end of every event what started happening was people started coming and saying, can you do this for us? And I was like, no, I am a hospitality guy. I don't help people. I don't have an agency or consulting business. All of this happened for a few years. Finally in 2009 with lots of requests, I was like, it's time for me to do something on my own. So bootstrapped, no funding, no co founders, hired four people and started a company called Internet Moguls to help other people with their digital marketing coaches, entrepreneurs, hospitality clients. And from four in 2009, we grew to a team size of 225 people working with 700 clients in 10 countries. So that's how digital became a very important part of my life. Now. We came about two years ago. I took you from when I was 18 to two years ago. Just bear with me two more minutes and I wrap up my story till two years back. I got represented by companies like the London Speaker Bureau and many speaker bureaus who wanted to represent me as a speaker so I can speak on stage on, you know, on various events. And when I went there, I told people how I started telling people my story and eventually turned out to me teaching people how to tell their stories. So I told people that in the last eight minutes I've told you my story. I can say the same story in eight seconds and sort of, you know, sort of have everybody understand the chronology of my life. How do you make an eight minute story into eight seconds? I said, here we go. My name is ABHI Arya, ladies and gentlemen. Father of two girls, six dogs, husband to a superwoman, a streetcar racer turned hotelier, now social media marketer and Founder of Internet Moguls. There I said my eight minute story in eight seconds. A lot of people appreciated it. This became a format, it became a course, it became a book and how to tell your story in eight seconds and through videos and all of that. So that became my next venture in life. But I felt fake when I told this story because what was missing from my eight minute and my eight second story was father of two girls, six dogs, husband, two superwoman. These three people, these three things in my life did not. I didn't have time for. I was always working. So I realized I needed to do something more to get back home and spend more time with my family. So I came back to the office. I remember one day called my senior people and I said we had about 712 active clients at that point in time. I said, we'll email everybody and said all we're going to do is videos and, and don't call us for meetings because every time you call me or my team for meeting, we spend two to three hours in traffic. That three hours a day, 15 a week, 60amonth, 720 a year. And we're spending years away from our family. I want to reclaim that time for me and my 200 plus employees and give it back to their families. And all of this can happen through the magic and power of videos. Of course, less than 5% of those 712 people even bothered to reply to that email. This was two years ago when we set up zoom rooms and everything for our But I saw my girls growing up. I saw that I wanted to spend more time with my wife and my passion for dogs. So we kept on relentlessly doing this. I said, I'll do one webinar a week to be able to connect with 500 people instead of going and traveling around the world. And one webinar a week and then parallel running the agency. While I'm doing that every Monday night, 500 people Covid happened on the 15th of March. We had to send everybody from the agency home. And I came back home slightly scared, slightly uncertain about what's going to happen in life. And I said, I did my first webinar that night. After Covid, 600 people landed up without us marketing that day, I realized that people need this more than ever. And it was good that we were doing it. For the last one year after that, ladies and gentlemen, we did 75 webinars in 75 days, grew our email list by 226,000, you know, made a huge revenue of about $225,000 in those. In that period of 75 days, great things happened for us and our brand. And because of being able to go online and use videos and all of that, I have now for the last eight months not been to the office, drop my kids to school every single day. Every evening we're going for a walk with me and my wife and our rescue where we rescue dogs is doing well and I have more time for myself and my work than ever before. And we are dedicating this time to be able to collaborate on our YouTube channel with our audience of almost about 300,000 people. Now we're giving them value by making them understand that this is an area, this is a time that where you have experts like Barry, like Dr. Rashmi, like Neha, like Saroni, like Emily, like David, like Melissa, like Sherry, like Lauren, like Vandana, who are there around the world to help you through these times. The world has become even smaller than before. Through videos we can all meet. Unfortunately, people who are in their fear zone don't see it the way that all of us do. So it is my endeavor to be able to put all amazing people from around the world and introduce them to our audiences. Thank you very much for your patience for listening to my story.
Thank you.
I know this, this time belongs to you, but I just wanted to give you some perspective of where we are coming from. Great. I know Dr. Rashmi might have to leave slightly early, so we'll start with her. So what we're going to do is we're going to make this session very interesting. We, I have a little bit of Q and A and then we'll, you know, then we, then we'll have some interaction between all of us so quickly and we do do a one minute or less than one minute introduction of everybody's, who you are and how you're serving the world. We'll start with you, Dr. Rashmi.
I can tell you who I am. I don't know how I'm serving the world. I'm Dr. Rashmi Shetty and I'm a dermatologist practicing in India. And just because this is a coach forum, I'd like to say that I teach around the world. So fork in the road, Tony Robbins, great mouth thing. Did my own thing and I also have 10 years experience working for Fortune 500s designing training programs for them. So I'm a course designer. So I'm really excited to be here. And I'm from Chicago or in Chicago, fourth city.
Yeah, you know Tony Robbins. Tony Robbins lost so far and everybody else gained. So well done.
Good for you. Yeah. It's our time.
100%. I'm sorry, did I miss out on anyone?
You missed me.
Oh, Betty. It's okay.
I'm Gary Moltz.
I help small business owners get unstuck.
The last 30 years I've had three businesses.
The first went out of business. The second business, I was kicked out by my partners. And the third business, which I started a few weeks after my first son was born. I was lucky enough in 1999 to sell that business, pay back the bank the $1.3 million I owed them, and my wife tells me I got her back just about the same. So now I help small business owners get unstuck. Whatever they've been going through, I've been there. So I help them to move their business forward. So it's great to be here with all of you. I loved hearing all of your backgrounds and the difference you're making in this world. Thank you, Barry, for sharing that story. And because you've been through that path, I can imagine how easy, how your clients might find it easy to resonate with you because you understand the pain that you, you know, that everybody goes through. Excellent. So now I'm going to come. You know, we have a few questions over here for everyone, so. And we can start with Dr. Rashmi, and then we can sort of make it into a freewheeling conversation. I like to say all of you people are experts in your fields. You've chosen the field because of a backstory, because of an incident that happened in life, or like what Emily said, there was a fork in the road, and it happens for many of us. And so, you know, you choose something over the other. And in hindsight, Hindsight is always 2020, but when you're moving forward in life, it's a blur. You're not sure about what's happening. Very few people are. So for the audience that's watching over here, you people are coaches, entrepreneurs. What message would you give to people who are saying, you know what? I wish I'd done that. But when hindsight is 2020 and you're walking going ahead, it's a blur. How should people make decisions in life?
Are you asking me?
Yes, please. We start with you.
Hello. I'm stuck. I'm so sorry. I'm stuck.
I can get you unstuck.
Am I audible?
That's it. We got a coach right here for you. Are you stuck? I can start if you like. Yes, please, Barry, go ahead.
Yeah.
I think the most important part is a lot of times when people go through something difficult, they kind of hang.
On to that failure.
Right? Because we're always taught that when failure happen, there's always something to learn.
And I've been doing business for 30 years.
Sometimes there's nothing to learn. Sometimes failure just Stinks. So I think you can learn whatever you can from that failure. But somewhere along the line you have to let go and move on to something else. And that letting go is very difficult.
And when you do let go, the.
Important part is to just start something else, move in a different direction again, learn what you can and then take another step so you can get another chance of success.
Don't get stuck where you were.
Lovely. Anybody else wants to jump in on this topic? Yes, I'd like to go.
So I think the best advice I ever got is to make decisions from where you want to be instead of where you're at. So when I came in the fork in the road, I was a single mom and I was VP Marketing at the time and I wanted to start a successful coaching business. But just the fees to become a certified coach were like 15,000 US and then to hire the coaches, there was a lot of additional money that I didn't have. So if I would have taken the perspective of I'm a single mom, I don't know how I'm going to pay for this, I wouldn't have moved forward. But I'm like, where do I want to be? I want to be a successful coach with a six digit, maybe seven digit business one day. What would that person decide? And that person decided to move forward and invest in my coaching. Because if it's something I truly love, first of all, I'm showing my son how to go for his passions and not to be limited by his fears. And second of all, I'm going to do this for the next 30, 40 years. I mean, this money spread out over all these years. How much is it really? It's not much. And that's how I took the leap to go into my business. And now I do have a successful coaching business. So always make decisions from where you want to be.
I love that. I love that. I've taken note for that for myself and my team. Thank you so much. Neha, you had a point here.
Yeah. So something you really want to do, you really want to, you are passionate about. So when I got into affiliate marketing 10 years back, I knew that this is one, this is what I really want to do. So I was in, I was in my comfort zone for the first two years. I started with managing website and all. And then the most important thing, which I knew that I have more power to learn to get more skills. And then understanding that part and diving into new challenges and challenge yourself is challenging yourself every time you know that you can create some Changes and change the mindset around you and you can create different avenues. So this is very important that you challenge yourself and you half passionate about something and you go into that particular field and you really, really passionate about something you really want to do in your life. So this is really important that you do what you love.
Lovely, lovely. Thank you very much. Yes. Saloni. Yeah. And then we go to Vandra.
If I think if somebody is feeling really blurred about the future and they're not sure how to make a decision, the first thing I tell them is that you're thinking too much and you're so much dependent on your mind. So sometimes we have to just take a step back and start connecting with your, with your heart and spirit and just look at the next step. Something that will bring you alive, something that will make your heart sing. And if you do that, life will guide you. It's you will know what to do. Life will bring you, it will show you the path. It's just. You need to just trust yourself and the universe and it will happen.
Lovely, thank you very much. Vandra?
Yeah.
Yes please.
You know, as you asked this question and you said 2020, so the problem that you are in, you will never get the solution from being in that level. Like Einstein said, you have to rise above and then only you will be able to get the answers for all your questions. So we at this moment with 2020, we all are masses. I'll talk about everybody has gone through this anxiety, fear of future, fear of unknown uncertainty. What will happen, what will not happen. Like you also mentioned that when you return back and it was just Covid hit, you were also little suspicious and you know, you also got those self doubts. These are all the challenges we all probably myself also in spite of me being a coach would have had that trigger for a moment. But do we have to live with those in those moments? No. The answers you will never get being in that moment. No matter how much ever you tell yourself I need to motivate myself. I really have to find my passion. I have to this I have to do. That doesn't work. All you have to do is rise about the situation. You have to disconnect. You have to disconnect from your current and connect with something which is your life's purpose and what are your values that you're holding? What are the skills that you have? What are you passionate about? How can you encash those skills with the challenges you have by converting it into an opportunity like Aviarya. I heard somewhere, you know, last Week when I spoke with him, there's somebody called as Aviarya and he just told me it was 1am in the morning where, you know, in his country. And he tells me I did something which was phenomenal. 6 digits, 7 digits, 7 digits and 8 digits. How did that happen? You also, that person also had a self doubt and that person is you. You also got triggered but then you created those triggers into opportunities. You disconnected, you took a step back and you started thinking what's in it for me as an opportunity out here? And that's how you transform yourselves and your businesses.
Lovely. Thank you David. I think the first thing that one does as an entrepreneur if you're stuck, is to go back and look at your vision and objectives and that gives you context. It also gives you a lot of strength because you have a clear purpose. And then when you look at things, the perspective changes because you've got a North Star that you're working towards. Then the other thing that I advise always is a network of people you can go to to use the sounding boards who may have complementary skills that you may not have. It could be peers, it could be people above you who are advisors. But to build a network like this with whom you can work and steer yourself to success despite whatever obstacles you are facing, I think it takes some wisdom to do that and some humility. But that makes all the difference in terms of how you can move forward. I love that because this is a perfect segue to the next question because the next question is company and in Hindi we talk about sangat and sangat is, I always say that, you know, the lazy man's guide to success. Don't do it yourself. Uproot your try to uproot yourself from where you are and plant yourself in the company of people. And that's what I am doing selfishly right now. I mean I'm right now in the company of, you know, of amazing people and it's all rubbing off on me. And I do this selfishly whenever I do an interview and I encourage everybody to do this as well. So starting from Dr. Rashmi, what would you. When somebody wants to restart and have a journey of I love what Melissa said, invest in your future self. You know, I mean I wrote that down because I'm on the verge of doing something right now for myself as well. And. But when you, you know, when you are trying to build a new you with new company or sangat, how do you get started?
I think I'm gonna mix up the previous question and this one A little. So to me, when you're in a tough road, like one of them rightly said, I go back to the drawing board and then look at the larger picture. Where did I want to reach at a particular time and what do I have on the drawing board board? What are my pluses and minuses? And then probably see where I can take a pause and say it's okay. Because I think that's something my dad taught, saying that it's okay to fail. I think most of us are so scared of failure, that's when you wonder, how do I deal with it? I have to deal with it right now and what do I do? So it's okay to not get your answer right now, it's okay to not have the solution right now. But if you know in the larger journey you're still progressing, to me that's more than enough. And diversification is something which will keep both your mind occupied at that moment when you're thinking the going is tough and maybe as you diversify, new ideas might open up to solve the existing issue. So that's how I look at it. So now, like you said, what do you do? Think differently? How do you do new things? I'd just like to give you an example. I'm a doctor. I practice dermatology and aesthetic dermatology. And we are in a very, very successful practice. I have two practices in Bombay and in Hyderabad. We treat all the who's who in the country. Bollywood came to a standstill, businesses came to a standstill, Travel came to a standstill. All of these were people who actually were the main patients that I ended up treating. Spread sports, international sports came to a standstill. So everybody who were my patients either couldn't move out of where they were or didn't have assignments, let's say for which they had to look a certain way. The clinic was almost a standstill. But I decided we have a team and I'm still going to keep this going and make sure everybody's paid full salaries. So what did we do at that point was we already had started the supplement line and I saw that the country was switching into wellness very, very quickly. At that point of time, the whole world was switching into wellness. So that's when we started talking about wellness from within, beauty from wellness. So therefore how important your nutrition, plugging in all the nutritional deficiencies were very important for you to ultimately keep yourself healthy and the well being you will glow well. So our supplement business went online and we just went fantastically rocketed up the way the business went up. So that totally covered up what I would have otherwise lost in services. So for me, it wasn't something taught in my business school or by a marketing coach. It was just what I had to think on the move, on my toes. So that's what really helped me. So I think just thinking you still maintain your goal. My goal is still wanting to make people look beautiful, confident, whatever, the best version of what they can get from the outside. Like all of you are trying to make them get their best version from the inside. But it's just that when I thought the services could take a pause, could may take a beating, I quickly ended up looking at what else can boost us, still keeping the goal in mind of making people beautiful and happy.
So yeah, lovely. Thank you, Lauren.
Thank you. About 12 years ago, I hit my wall where I had burned out. I was doing sports psychology, I was traveling all over, speaking, and I realized that not only was it taking a toll on me, it was taking a toll on my family as well because we weren't spending time together. And when I was home, I was doing some additional work as well. And that was when I realized that I needed to really look for a better way of being able to do the work that I was meant to be doing and not take the sacrifice or have my family sacrifice either. At that point, what I did is I actually took up rowing and downhill skiing. I learned that at 40 years old. And I realized that if it's uncomfortable, then I ought to be doing it and really faced my fears and my challenges and my limitations physically as well as mentally in order to eventually become a competitive rower. But at that time I was also going through a change professionally and I was hitting my wall in so many different places. And what I realized as well is that I'm smart enough to eventually do what I need to do to have a seven figure business. I could figure it out on my own and I'm fiercely independent. I don't really like asking for help. At that point. It was important to look good and have everybody else to think that I was more successful than I was at that moment and not burning out. And I didn't want to have to slog through it on my own. And that's when I recognized that I needed to reach out for help and hired my very first business coach because that person had already achieved in what I wanted for myself and I wanted to fast track my results and learn on the heels of somebody else. And from working with that business coach and being in that mastermind group of other entrepreneurs also doing something similar. I recognized the importance of putting myself around people who had already achieved what I wanted to achieve and that by being able to spend time with them, they think differently, they look at failure differently, and they approach success differently than everybody else does. And by really surrounding myself with people just like each and every one of you here, I was able to fast track my results so much faster than if I figured it out on my own.
That is fantastic. That's fantastic. Well done. Well done from all of us. I love it. I'm just, you know, sort of getting, you know, it's scary. I mean, skiing downhill, oh, my God. Try skiing uphill, that's even scarier.
You know what? At 40 years old, the bunny hill is very steep.
Giving those a try.
Sorry, can I take a minute, please? I'm sorry, all of you. I'm totally enjoying this, but I need to leave. I had informed Arya earlier.
Yes, you did.
Thank you. Thank you so much. I really thoroughly enjoyed. Just wanted to add one more thing before I leave. Like everyone else is saying, I was petrified about anything going online because I'm the typical early 40s who did not literally live and grew up with the computer. So was petrifying. And that's when I asked my daughter to come and join into the business. And she was the one who took the supplements online and made Soul Skin a success. So my company which helped me was my teenage daughter, the younger company which really, really boost and brought in new energies. Thank you very much. I should listen to the recording and take in all the learnings.
The links to everybody's LinkedIn so we can all stay in touch.
Oh, super. And also everybody's Instagram handles, please. I'm more active there. Okay, thanks. Bye. Bye.
What Lauren said, you know, was. Was fantastic. And you know, I love it when coaches give you visuals to remember. I can always say, you know, I'm in my head, Lauren. You know, it's on those slopes falling and saying, I still want to do it. Falling and saying, I still want to do it and then become the champion rower. So I just. Those visuals are going to always stay with me. Thank you very much for sharing that story with us, Lauren. My next question again stems from what, you know, the last speaker said on how do you coach people to get into this mindset? You said, I understand that I need to be. I need to find the right coach for myself. Now a lot of people are looking at this interview right now and saying, maybe I want somebody out of all of you. As a coach. How do. How do. Lorraine, we start with you. How do people find the right coach? Like you said, somebody who's already done what you've done. Some you wanted seven figures. The person has seven figures. But it's also the value system, the way he did it. Maybe he did it. He or she did it through affiliate marketing. Maybe they did it through a coaching system. So what path should the audience follow while they're looking for a coach to help them out?
What I can share about what I did because I got to that point where I knew I needed to make a change and didn't know how to do it. Like you, Aria, I went from a brick and mortar business into wanting a virtual business to have the freedom to travel and do other things as well. I actually got on a telesummit as a listener listening to many coaches, just like we're doing here, and looking for one that I resonated with who I could relate to their story, I could relate to their journey, but that they also had achieved what I wanted for myself. And from going to that telesummit, I believe was of 12 coaches. I listened to the interviews a couple times because I got the recordings, and there was one who really stood out with me. And it was that person that I then reached out to. I tried some of other of her products. I went to her event and right out of the gate, without even having a business yet, I went ahead and jumped into her mastermind group and I had to pay $18,000 to work with her in a mastermind group for a year before I even had the business. Because I wanted to fast track that success. And I want to let you know, by doing that, that $18,000 investment was no clients yet, no business. I made US$77,000 that first year. And that is the power of really finding someone who already has walked the path and can show you how to do it as well.
Lovely. Lovely. So if I want to learn skiing after 40, I should hit you up on an email?
Absolutely.
Lovely. Yes.
Yes, Vandra, that's a very interesting question because people really don't know what coaching is. Do I really want a business coach? I want a life coach. I want a spiritual coach. I want a marketing coach. I want a finance coach. Do I want an executive coach? Do I want a performance coach? Do I want a leadership coach? There are a host of things available in the market. Who do you choose? So is it A, B, C, D, E? What? So that's a million dollar question that people really get stuck with. And then there would be a high chance that since I don't know what exactly coaching is, what's going to happen with me around in that process, they can actually make wrong choices. So I completely agree with what Lauren said and I would like to add little bit onto this because even I. Every business has a graph. You will scale up and you might have a downfall or you know, the third year, fourth year you will have some, some kind of sustenance or some challenges or diversification that will come your way. And that is the time you need to stay focused and go to the fourth year, fifth year, sixth year. Again, something will happen at the seventh year. So this is how it is like a graph. So I had something like that when there was one year. I just did not business, zero billing and my father is diagnosed with cancer and I need money for treatment. I have a choice. Either I go back to the corporate world where I belong to, or I came from being a head of hr, easy to get a job or I actually, you know, continue. And this is the time I actually got a coach for myself. What do I really want now? How do you identify who do you want to work with? First and foremost you need to understand what's your purpose. Do I look for a business where I need to train? It's like a train, a railway train where there is a driver and then there are different compartments which has passengers who are your employees. They will stay with you for 2 years, 4 years, 6 years, 10 years, 20 years, depending on their motivators. But you are the driver, you own the business, you want to start the business. What do you really need to scale up for? Is it your leadership, your behaviors, your belief system, your values, your business strategy that you still want to create, which is not ready or you want to look at the balance sheet? So now if you want to look at the balance sheet and somebody to really take care of those number crunching with you and expand your business, you need to have a business coach. Executive coach is not the right person for you. You have some behavioral issues. You really need to look for probably a life coach. You are looking to develop yourself like a group CEO or a CEO of a business. You need to look for an executive coach who will create or curate your identity, who you are at a 360 degree horizon, turn it round upside down where you look like the CEO of a business. You behave, you walk the talk and you are only displaying your business which is your own value. And that's where you become indispensable from attracting customers and making those numbers now, I would not quote it seven digit because you can reach up to 8, 9, 10. Why should I create limitation for you? So this is how we should create. Find out the coach.
Love that answer because, yes, a lot of people have that confusion. Thank you very much, Emily.
Okay. I think it's really important for a coach or someone that is looking for a coach is to find somebody that has a really strong foundation, a really strong global education of anything. You've got to find an investor, excuse me, a mentor that you can invest money into. And you may have to, you may have to throw in 10,000, 20,000 into it, but you're going to get that education. You're not going to waste years and years and years, you know, winging it as a coach or, you know, working with the wrong mentors, etc. Etc. The first thing I would say for anybody is if you don't want to waste time is to go for the best education that you can. I got certified eight years ago, International Coaching Federation certified through Institute for Professional Excellence and Coaching. I got a master's degree in business psychology from Boston. And then I had the life experience and then I had the life experience of being an entrepreneur for eight years. And that journey. And then you go through, you know, 2020, right? When we look at 2020, a lot of people go, oh, it's a bad year. Oh, it's a terrible year. But guess what? It's about attitude. For a lot of people, it was good year. For a lot of people, it was a year family of community of starting over. And sometimes that starting over is okay. And sometimes, sometimes that starting over is exactly what you need to go to the next level. Right? Because as entrepreneurs, the starting over or the restructuring and the pivoting is the journey. It's the journey, the life. So that's okay. So when you look at 2020, you got to look at the market for sure. Hey, Rocky. Market, kind of, but it's about attitude. So you're going to have a positive attitude, okay? You're going to go into 2021 this year about, guess what? Relationships. It's about relationships, you guys. It is, doesn't matter where you're at in your business. It's about the relationships and the attitude and being a very curious, multi talented, multi dimensional, spiritual and very spiritual into law of attraction individual in one industry, okay? Very curious, multi dimensional, multi talented person focused in one industry for a long time. And that's where you're going to become a millionaire. I see Barry raising his Hand as well.
Yes.
Over to you, Emily. I think that is really an excellent point. The point you're making. I really believe you have to find someone that you groove with, right?
Someone that's been where you are, but.
Most importantly, someone who can teach the way you learn.
A lot of us learn in many different ways. Some people are visual learners, some people learn by reading, some people learn by watching.
And you've got to be able to.
Find a teacher where you can be the student. I've been a student of Karate for 20 years.
I'm going for my third degree black.
Belt here in a couple of months. And my teacher, Sheehan Nancy, she's the.
Best teacher at anything I've ever had because she's able to see each and every single person in the room at.
The same time, even if there's 40 people there. So you've got to be able to relate to your teacher so you feel that they're investing in you. And so in turn, you'll invest in them. Wow. I love that. Fantastic. Fantastic. Yes.
Melissa, I'd just like to add, I agree with everything each of you have said. And at the end of the day, once you have all this information, you need to tune into your inner voice and say, does this feel right for me? Does this coach feel right for me? Because maybe they have everything on paper. And this was the biggest mistake with my first coach I invested in. She had everything perfect on paper, but it didn't feel right for me. But I went against my gut instinct. I went with what went right and I paid for it. So do you feel comfortable with them? Are your values aligned? Do you feel like you have a safe space with them? Do you feel you can be yourself because you're going to be trusting this person with the most personal information in your life? So you need to feel that safe space.
Yeah, lovely. Now, sorry, Yes. I just come back and I'll to this Dr. Saloni. I want to start with Neha and then Dr. Saloni for this next question. Everybody has a unique coaching style, right? So I will start with Neha. Neha, you're teaching people affiliate marketing and you've been in the industry for such a long time, a lot of people get to you, you know, sort of approach you for that. And then we go with Dr. Saloni. So for your respective businesses, when you, how do you find your own coaching style? How do you find your own mentoring style? I love what Barry said, that his karate teacher looks at all 40 people in the room, you know, at one given point in Time so you feel, you feel important, you feel taken care of. So you know, having all of those things in mind when you approach a student or a client and take care of them. What is your, what is your coaching style? Is there a coaching style or you just go from the gut?
No, no, I think there is a coaching style that some people, I mean of course there is a gut, like Melissa mentioned. But yes, like when I look for a coaching style I always go by how they, whether they're certified, whether they having those skill sets and also what are the, what are the steps they are taking to build what are the things they are making, giving their education. So when I see myself giving an education about affiliate marketing and talking about affiliate marketing to people, I create like we have an admit ad academy where we create courses step by step. We give certification to people. We give that, we build that trust, like wanna mentioned that we build that trust with our audience, with our people who would want to understand what is what affiliate marketing is and also creating the content about it, the content around it. And also like we see that there are people who want to understand their clients who are approaching that, how it happens, how it creates. So we always create that particular structure way of teaching people, making courses around it, creating content around it and give it across the people who need it.
Got it. Because a lot of people today are saying, tell me how to make money, I need it. And so affiliate is a booming industry. Thank you for doing that. So next we'll go with Saloni. We'll go to David and we go to Sherry before we go to the next question. Alrighty, Saloni.
Thank you, Abby. So I think for the coaching style, I didn't choose the coaching style. Style chose me. That's what I would say. What I meant by that is when I started my journey 13 years back, I'm a doctor, a gynecologist, stunt coach. So at that time my coaching style was completely different from what it is now. So as I kept on growing and evolving, becoming the person who I'm now, my coaching style kept on evolving as well. So for example, in the beginning I was working with parents and people on relationships, helping them learn more communication skills, how to understand each other better, how to work through conflicts. Now when I work with them, I start with the core areas. So I'm always talking about inside out approach, which means very spiritual journey. It's very intuitive. So every client is different and it's, it is all gut feeling. I just know what this client needs and that happens. I think with Most of the coaches, as we grow and evolve, our style keeps on evolving as well, and we know what is right for the person. Sometimes we need structure and sometimes totally, you know, free flow, fluid coaching.
Thank you for saying that. Otherwise, in my head, it was like, you know, I am a coach, B coach. You're like, maybe you start from that place, but then it evolves. Thank you for saying that. Yes, David, I think I approach coaching from the point of view of my faith. And one of the things that we've learned over all these years is what we call servant leadership, where it's about giving, it's about edifying somebody, it's about lifting them up, it's about using empathy, it's about drawing out the best in them, it's about facilitating. So the focus is on the other, you know, and what is it that I can do to build them up. So it's, of course, based on trust. And it's based on trust to the extent that you can begin to understand who the person is, strengths, weaknesses. And as a coach, I think it's good to amplify the strengths and to build on the weaknesses in a way that they do not feel that we will do them any harm. You know, that we are there for their best interest. And if I'm able to do this in a way that builds them up so that they become strong and independent and don't need me anymore, then my job is done. That's how I approach coaching. I love that. That is fantastic. Thank you, Sherry.
Well, that was really beautiful. Thank you for sharing that. I just, you know, my heart just was like, I love that. So I think it's really important when it comes to finding that person who is the right coaching style fit for you is to again, look at the resonance that you have with them. But when I am looking for a coach myself, because I believe all coaches should always be getting coaching and taking programs. Because how can I be a coach if I am not out there also partaking is to look for that, first of all, knowing what you want, but also looking for that aha moment. Like when I take a program, I am not thinking I am going to eke every little inch out of this program. I look for that one aha moment. And I remember spending, I don't know, $7,000 on a marketing program. And the first hour of the program, I had my million dollar aha moment. And the program was like a 10 month program. And I was like, I got my money's worth times 100. And so I think that Approach to life is really important is that we're were in life to have synchronistic moments and to have, you know, those little, you know, like breathtaking, exciting moment by moment experiences. And it gets lost when we're just planning, planning, planning. And it sounds kind of funny because I'm a business coach and I do business plans with people. But I think that you have to come from a centered place of seeing just how precious the moment is. And I had that really brought home in my life five years ago when I had a near death experience. Actually my 15 year old son saved my life. I went into the light and was out of this world for 12 hours. And when I came back and I faced a really traumatic diagnosis, I had already been coaching people for almost 10 years and I thought, wow, I need to save my own life. And I knew that mindset was huge. Even a nurse said to me, the most important thing is if you, is you staying positive. And within three weeks I had a spontaneous remission and have been healthy ever since. But it was, I call it post traumatic growth. When you have moments in your life like a shock can be the best gift that you've ever had because it just, it, it severs something and it gives you permission to just become maybe something you never even imagined you would become. And so I like that approach when I'm working with my clients is, you know, limitless possibilities and, and you know, always asking that question of, you know, what if? And I mean life is just so spectacular when you live life like that. So that's kind of my belief on coaching style.
Yes. So thank you very much for sharing all of your perspectives so far. Now I'm going to go slightly more granular. So a lot of people want to become coaches and a lot of people want to hire coaches. We spoke about the personality of a coach, the resonance with a coach, the message, who you want to become. You know, start from that point. All of those very valuable, valuable points. I've taken some notes and we will be posting them in the edits now for people who are wanting to become people get inspired by your interview and they want to become coaches and a lot of coaches are watching this as well. People don't know how to structure their price. How should I structure a value based offer in the marketplace? We start with Lauren and then whoever wants to raise their hands, we'll go one by one.
Well, that's actually one of my favorite topics because it's what I do with all my clients is the pricing part of it. What I want to say is most of us started out working for somebody else, being an employee. That way we always had our income tied to our time, whether we had an hourly rate or we got a salary. As we go into the marketplace, we simply think that that's the only way to price your services is to trade dollars for hours. I want to let you know that when you do that, when you do competitive pricing, you're actually lowering your value because you're focusing on the tasks and you're positioning yourself as a commodity, which makes you very competitive and has you continue with competitive pricing. What you want to do is focus on the value. And what each and every one of us does here is we focus on the transformation. We focus on where someone wants to go. And what is the value of helping someone not just have the insights and the skills, steps to be able to and the accountability to help them do that, but what is the value of that transformation in your life of actually achieving something that you only dreamed was possible, knowing that you're taking all the risks and you're having someone that's giving you those insights to help you achieve that and the value of doing that. And when you can do that, then you're looking at value from your client's perspective of looking to hire you because they're hiring you to help them get that transformation as opposed to you pricing your services according to your perspective of time costs and the fact that I have to be able to have all this learning to be able to do that. So really step into your client's shoes and look at the value of the transformation from their perspective. And then you're separating yourself from dollars for hours. You position yourself as an expert and it is a win win that allows you to double your income without having to work as many hours.
Lovely. I love that. Vandra, I know you do a lot of coaching all over and you have worked with such big clients and pricing is always an issue. But what I have over, you know, correct me if I'm wrong or what I've observed is, and I, this is what I tell my, my, my people. It's something my own insecurity which is, you know, which determines my price in the market. Right. So what is your take on that?
Do you see this? I'll show you again. This says Vandana Shah is an executive coach of the year and this is the business Global Business leader of the year 2021. Now, many of you want to become the coach, but you don't know how to prize yourself. You get this inner Dilemma or complexity. I know a lot of my friends, fellow coaches, my colleagues who have been living this over this since I started. I'm like nine years old in coaching and I'm a globetroller. I'm coaching today into like 10 countries plus. And I work with the promoters, chairman, CEOs, CXOs, politicians, you name name it, I'm working with them. So there will be a time in your life when you start a career. You have to make sure you show your value and your worth. People start trusting you. I also started nine years back and I had rejections over rejections over rejections because nobody knew, what is she gonna do, how is she gonna do, is it going to give me my return on investment or not? It's not a product, it's a future that you are selling to somebody. So as you start making your hours, we are ICF qualified coaches. We have to hold our licenses and renew them, sit through the exam once every three years. And you need specific hours of coaching experience to get qualified to sit through the examination, which means you have to do that level of work. Now you are doing two things parallel as a coach. You are bringing your experience, proving yourself. You are building your brand and at the same time you are positioning yourself and building hours of coaching that are required to qualify for these exams and get those licenses that gives you entry in the corporate, without which corporates don't entertain you. So they will ask you how many hours of coaching the person has, how many years of experience do you have, who have you coached? So nobody is, no CEO is going to hire you as his coach. On the day one, you will have to start, take one step at a time, go on the ladder step by step. And there will be a time when you are on the top of the cliff and you are working with those decision makers, drivers of the economy. Pricing will be a major issue there also. But you really need to show them the future. They will pay you more than you have even thought of.
Lovely, I love that. So this is very different perspective on corporate training versus training entrepreneurs. So, you know, because there are certain benchmarks and best practices and everything that they ask for. We'll go with Saloni and then we go to Melissa.
Yes, thank you, Abby. I would say charge something which you are very uncomfortable to ask for, go out, that's my favorite line of the day, and commit 100% and give hundred times more value than they could ever imagine, just blow their mind. And then they would commit 100% as well. And the transformation is inevitable.
Then you know, like, I think it was Sherry who said that she invested $18,000 for a one year program. In the first session, she got her aha moment. So I got my aha moment. So I love that.
I.
And I just love that I would.
Like to share, actually when I had.
A question to say, you know, to sort of have this section edited saying be audacious and you know, go out there and say this is what I do. And then, and then, you know, like, and you know, actually my mother or my mom and dad are both entrepreneurs. My mother actually says this, she says, make a huge promise and then give it all your all to be able to meet that promise. Make that promise happen. So I love that. Yes. Roni? Sorry, you were saying something.
I was just adding that when I hired a coach recently, actually I paid him 10 times more what I charged my clients because. And the moment I made a decision that I'm hiring him and I said, I want to hire you, you won't believe. I mean, the kind of clients I got, I almost doubled my fees and the clients were very happy to pay. Even I hadn't started coaching. That's the power of coaching. That's the spirit.
I just love that I say something. And guys, anybody who's watching on Facebook now or later and you have any questions, please post the comments over here because we'll invite all our guests on to the Facebook group as well. So if you have any questions from the audience, please put it in the comments. You know, recently I heard from a very successful friend, digital marketer coach, a colleague of mine, he said that, he said what you charge in the market, you know, is, I'll come back with that. It has to be a perfect, otherwise it doesn't make sense. Melissa, we'll go to you and then I'll come back once with that, I lost that train of thought.
I've tried many different coaching packages, many different time frames, and to me what works best is a six month package. Because I feel you need a minimum of six months to have a transformation. If you have a session here and a session there, you're going to say, hey, I had a great session. But is there really a transformation? Because there's a lot of limiting beliefs to go through, a lot of accountability, a lot of new ways. So the first six months are the most important. And I feel the people that give the best commitments are the ones that pay up front. So I have a price for clients that pay upfront and then I have another price for clients who pay monthly and the one to pay up front are always the most successful because they made the commitment, right? They're like, yes, I'm ready to do it. And they're in full force. Whereas the ones that pay monthly, they kind of have one foot in and one foot out. So that's what I would recommend. Six months and a price for upfront and a price for monthly with a big difference between the two to encourage people to pay upfront.
I am eternally indebted. And I don't use these words eternally indebted loosely because what you just said was fantastic. You know, just validating so many things that I've been doing. Six months, one, one leg in, one leg out. Note to the editor. This has to be the highlight of this section. Excellent. Great. So anybody else on coaching, packaging it around, it comes from the heart. It comes from you being able to wanting to invest on a more granular level. It's six months. You want people to actually invest long term and that shows what kind of clients you have. And also all of you did mention that every coach must have a coach. So. Yeah, that's fantastic. Vandana, back to you.
There is something very interesting that has got triggered.
Yeah.
Those who have these dilemmas on the pricing, they have a challenge with self trust, self belief, and they need to hire the coach first and clarify that for themselves. Rise above and then go out in the market. Otherwise you will not get the clients, you will not be able to attract the client at whatever cost.
I love that. I love that. Especially in our digital marketing arena, David, in India, there are people selling courses. I mean, people put in so much time and effort and then this thing called, you know, sell it for a thousand dollars. Can I do it for 199 to start with? 99,49. Can I do it for free for the first one year? It's just I want to remain so small and I don't, you know, I've never felt that anybody, why would people buy from me kind of a thing. And so we made two people do this. We said, first webinar, you charge five times. Like Lauren said, just go crazy. But I love what Saloni said. You know, I'm going to try that, Saloni, and I'm going to get back to you on how that worked out for me because obviously all of us are getting in here. Yes, it's, it's a lucrative career if you have the empathy to be able to understand where that person is. And like what Vandana said, focus on the future of that person rather than the nitty gritties. And also what Lauren said was, you know, it's. While you're designing a lifestyle for yourself by getting into the coaching business, you must understand what is. What is in it for them. You know, how you're taking it. I love what Melissa said on how these, how people are actually wanting commitments from you. So once they see your coaches committed to say, here, let's do it for six months, and then you bring their commitment in and that's how things start happening. So I'm just, I know. I'm just sort of trying to sound smart by just reiterating what all of you people have said here. Great. So my next thing is, I'm a social media person. I always say three videos a day, 15 a week, 60amonth, 720 a year. Create videos, add value to people's lives, do seminars like these, do events like these, one on one, live on Instagram, maybe zoom calls so that, that's when the audience looks at you, looks at your teaching and training style and said, you know what? I see your videos. I see how you train and coach other people. Maybe I want to hire you as a coach. So that's a. We call it micro video mastery. This is the strategy we teach everybody. So what, what has been, you know, we start with Lauren again and go to each and every one of you. For all the coaches and people who want to be coaches watching this, what has been your best marketing strategy? If I can. If I can call it that, My.
Best marketing strategy was actually realizing that I don't work with everybody and I'm not here to help everybody. It's really about continuing to narrow it down and knowing exactly who I work best with as far as industry and personality wise and then getting out of my own way and speaking, whether in person or virtually, like we're doing here. Speaking is the best thing that you can do for someone to get a sense of who you are and see if they resonate with you and want to have a further conversation. So get out of your own way if it's uncomfortable. Join a toastmasters, but get out there, speak. Do the videos like Aria is talking about. And that is the very best thing you can do because people get a real taste of who you are.
Lovely. Love that, Sherry.
Yeah. So one of the most successful things that I do is social media media marketing, and specifically on my Facebook page and a Facebook group, because I feel like when you do a group, you get a chance to get close to those people. And so, you know, there's. There's something that says that your people, maybe only 3% will buy in the beginning and, you know, a certain percentage will never buy from you. But it's so much of it as relationship building and. And plus, I have a lot of fun. So what. What I actually do, like, a lot of people who run groups, struggle with how do I put content in my group. But I, you know, I mean, I have an overall content strategy. But when I wake up and do my morning ritual every day, I. Part of it is meditating and part of that meditation process, I ask the question, what do my people need from me today? What do they need to hear? And it's different for each venue. It's different on Instagram, it's different on Twitter. It's different on. But there's always like some little thing and I get feedback from people. Like, man, that's exactly what I needed to hear today. And so I think what happens is we get caught up in what content do we need to put out there. But it's really a lot about your energy that you bring and really being like. You talked a lot about empathy. When you have that empathy for your optimal client, for your people who are meant to work with you, they feel that. And so it's not like, oh, I need the perfect marketing words. It's really, again, coming back to heart and your energy and what you're willing to give out to the world with also an open heart to receive as well. Because there are a lot of givers who aren't so great at receiving. And you have to be able to receive.
That was so powerful. Maybe meditate or on your message of the day.
Yeah.
You'Re giving, but maybe you're not good at receiving. I never thought. I don't. I've never thought of that. So be good at receiving as well, because that's how you can give better. So take care of yourself, maybe. Is that where we're going? You know, you can't pour from an empty cup. Is that. Is that where we're going?
Yeah. Yeah.
Awesome. Love that. Love that. Yes. Saloni, you were saying something.
I was actually just adding to that because what worked for my business, my coaching practice, and how it thrived, actually, it might be something totally opposite of what most people think, but it worked for me 100%. So I took off my attention from my business, from my coaching practice, my goals, and I put it on myself, which was about who I am, knowing who I am, and letting people know who I am, really what I stand for, what my values are. My connection with my spirit with the universe. I worked on myself very, very deeply. So I did actually, I did silent retreats for many days. And there was a time when I was off social media. That is. That was like a miracle. Three months. And people were asking, where are you? Because I was not interacting with anybody. I was off, you know, Internet totally. And I was in Vipassana. And I came back and I was just. I just need time for myself. I just want you to cut off the noise. And the day I said, okay, I'm going back, I just want to work, it was like, I'm like, I don't know where the calls are coming. That same day, I got almost 10 calls from different countries. People wanting to connect with me, start coaching with me. I'm like, what's happening? And this was a spirit working. I just knew I'm in the right path. So working on yourself, especially when you're a coach, walking your talk. So for, as you said, Abby, that there was a time when you were feeling you were not spending time with your family. So I tell people, if you really want to thrive in business, thrive in your life first. If you are father, great mother, great husband, great son, there is no way your business won't thrive. There is no way. Because once you are actually that person who you want to become, it is inevitable. It's as simple as that. And once you do that, then just express yourself. So I started sharing when I came back on social media. My challenges, my setbacks, my failures, how I overcame them, how I started connecting with myself at a very deeper level. And as Sherry said, every morning I sit in stillness for almost two hours since then, and I just ask, what is it that I want to do today? And things just come, and life shows me, and the people just come very naturally. So I think if your business growth is directly proportional to the inner work you do.
Wow. You know what? Officially, you guys have raised the bar for me. I had a 2021 plan right here in front of me, and I'm following it. I work very hard. But you guys have raised the bar for me. I need to readjust my 2021 plan. Yes. So we will. We have a couple of minutes left, you know, and just one more question before we go. But before that, we wanted to ask Emily on what you do to market yourself or promote yourself and your services.
I learned so much from everyone here. Thank you so much. I can't wait to network after. Because like I said, 2021 is about relationships. It's a year of Relationships. We all miss that. Right. Last year we weren't able to even see our families. Right. Because of COVID So it's just really, really important to focus on relationships for this year and be your brand. So in order to be your brand, you want to be the best. Okay. Best presence, best confidence, best marketing, best website. You're going to be your brand. You want to put your clients or your coaches into the spotlight. Okay. You're going to be in the spotlight. Just like what we have our host here doing. You want to put your clients in the spotlight. If you are helping them to become more successful, put them in publicity, put them in the spotlight. At the end of this year, I was actually, last year I was going to do a conference and conference for my business. A conference is a great way to bring all my coaches in the spotlight to be public speaking on stage with COVID It could not happen. Gonna do it this year. Don't think so. 2022. Thinking of doing a luxury spiritual law of attraction retreat in Miami. Yes. So you're all invited. So I think. Yep. And make it small gatherings. Make it small gatherings for sure. Because, hey, we can do that. Right? So that's my advice.
100%. 100%. Okay. Now I'm coming to my last question. Before I do that, I wanted to share with you all of one thing, like I said, the lazy man's guide to success. What I've always, always, always done. I love going to the gym and I used to want to lift heavy weights and I couldn't. I surrounded myself with the beef, you know, sort of the bulkiest guys in the gym. It helped. They eat different, they talk different, they don't go out drinking all of that. Now, two years ago, me and another very good friend of mine, Sidharth Rajshekhar, one of India's top coaches, we said, let's create a digital marketing alliance like never before. So nine strangers got together. And after that, we had. We just got together on a WhatsApp group and said, let's see what happens from here. After which, almost every Sunday we work and we meet on a zoom call and we say, what's working for us? Everybody shares one strategy. We actually open our businesses. One of the YouTube videos about us says nine competitors and how they're successful together. So just collaborating with people and saying, you know what, like you said, openly giving and saying, this is what's working for me. It completely changes the things in your life. And today I'm feeling just that. So thank you all so much for you know, like I said, personally, I'm feeling, you know, rather selfish for the last 10 minutes as I'm taking notes and say, yes, I learned this. I learned this. It's for my audience, it's for everybody else. But honestly, I've taken back so much on every single thing that all of you have said. Now, before we leave, I had this one final question. And, you know, from each and every one of you, maybe half a minute or whatever, how much, how much, how much ever time you want to contribute to this? What is that one thing that unsettles or worries you or, you know, scares you even today? And how do you get over that? Feel free to share or not share. For, for me, it's my. You know, there's a lot of people in my office who are. Who look up to me and say, this guy's got it all figured out. And sometimes you don't. So I worry about the fact that I need to have it all figured out or at least do my best to have it figured out so that everybody else can see that I'm working for them. Servant leadership, you know, so all of that. So that's. That's. That's me being vulnerable in front of everybody in social media and saying that's what worries me. Yes, yes, Neha.
I think becoming redundant, so it's. That worries me a lot. So I feel like learning skills, learning. So learning the power in learning is so important. So learning every day. That's why we are all talking about coaching and how important is that part in our life and how we are important in so many other people's lives. So I think becoming redundant is the most fearful thing. So I want to learn every day, add value to my life every day. So updating my skills and updating my knowledge, that is what I wanted to do.
Fantastic. Thank you so much, Melissa.
Well, every time I step out of my comfort zone, of course I have fears. I also do energy work, so as soon as I have a fear, I do a fire ceremony, I write out my fears, I burn it in the fire. I say I release you and onward. Right? So whatever fears that come up, it's normal you're going out of your comfort zone. It's a good thing that you have a fear because it means you're doing something different and just learn what's the best method for me to manage this fear so that it doesn't take over.
Fantastic. Thank you so much, David. I think the biggest concern is that I may not be able to help somebody, and that gives Me, you know, the. What should I say, the impetus to.
Be able to.
Further what I can do to empower somebody else. The most terrible feeling in the world is somebody coming to you and saying, look, I need help and you're not able to help them. That's the only thing that worries me. That's a good worry to have. David. Lauren, thank you so much. David. That was fantastic.
I believe that success happens from the inside out. And the person that I am going to become as I continue to grow my business and, and have a bigger impact and influence is different than the person I have today. Therefore, as I was saying earlier in our interview, if it's uncomfortable, I ought to be doing it. Which means that I need to consistently be looking at myself and realizing that I am probably the bottleneck in my own business and how is that happening? And that's why I continue to always be working with a coach. Because sometimes I'm too confident, close to myself, and I can't see where I'm getting in my own way and I need someone else to be able to tell me something in order for me to be able to have a different way of looking at it. Be able to maybe shift a belief or a value that might be old and contradictory to a new way of looking at and being. And just recognizing that the fear is that when I get too much in my own way, then it's keeping me from maybe helping somebody else who really, really needs to hear what I have to say. And, and I don't want to be selfish like that.
Lovely. Thank you so much. It is beautiful. Yeah.
Yeah. So. So I think one of the, and this comes from my past corporate career is that, you know, the. Maybe it's like people to have like the fear of success and the more successful you are, there's that feeling like, you know, I won't have the time to do everything that I really want to do. So, you know, like, I. And I had a point in my business where I realized it had been two years since I took a vacation. And so I decided right then that I was going to take six vacations that year. And I didn't know how I was going to do that. I thought I would make less money, but I thought I didn't leave the corporate world so I could take no vacations ever. And so that year I didn't take six vacations, I took seven. And yeah, and so I value the way that I overcome that is I just make sure that I'm really valuing my time. Like I rarely Schedule anything on Mondays or Fridays. I like to have my work be Tuesday through Thursday for the most part. So I can take a four day weekend on either end if I want to. And. Or I can just leave the day open to just be creative and feed myself and feed my soul. And so I have the personality type. I get really consumed like I'm in flow a lot with creativity. So, you know, I might be doing something till midnight because I love doing it. But I about myself is I have to make sure that I'm doing other things to balance it out. So part of that is my morning ritual, my meditation practice, the things that keep me balanced so I don't get, you know, too one dimensional into anything.
Lovely. I love those insights. All of you sharing this could not have been possible unless all of us came together. Sherry, really appreciate what you just said. And we're having six lovely kids. I can, I can imagine, you know, having to balance so much and I'm just, you know, I wanted six kids, but my wife should look at this interview later on. Alrighty.
I could talk to her, but I might say, no, don't do it. No, I'm just kidding. No, I love my kids.
Let's make that happen. I know. Vandra, you're achieving so much. We had a nice conversation last week. You're achieving so much. Very sorry to hear, you know, about your, your dad. And you know, you have, you're taking care of your mom, you're taking care of your business, your everybody in your building. You got a new office. It's so much, you know, I can just imagine so much is happening. You got that award. You got. Like I said, I love the red chair you have. I have a red chair right behind this jacket for myself as well. Amidst all of this. What are. What is that? What is that? That worries you? And how do you get over that?
Honestly? Can I be truthful, please? Nothing worries me. Reason being I dance in the moment. I be in the rhythm in every breath of my life. And that is one of the secrets why I am here or I am driving that I am in my journey of life. I'm just attracting things that I want and it's just happening. Flawless. Because I just don't let anything get attached to me. I always live in the detached compassion. This breath while I'm speaking with you, as I'm inhaling one, I'm exhaling another. That's not mine. Is that what I. It's not. Who am I going to get worried for? And if I create those blocks and blind spots for myself. In what capacity will I as a coach will be able to service my clients whose futures businesses depend on me?
Lovely.
There's no room for fear.
Note to tell. After Sherry, my next coaching call is with Vandana. Alrighty. Perfect. Thank you, Shaloni.
I fully resonate with Vanna because since you asked the question, I'm just thinking, my mind always is running, what do I worry about? And the answer was nothing. And I love what said because I. I dance with the universe and there is really nothing to worry. And I really thought hard, is there anything which I worry about? And I think it's all about really coming to that place of acceptance. Acceptance with yourself and with the whole universe. And when you are in that dance, actually worry just vanishes. There is no worry. That's what I want you to say.
Wow, I'm feeling so stupid right now. You know, I have so many things that I'm worried about. But. But thank you because I wanted to be in this comfort, uncomfortable environment where I'm feeling that what I'm doing is not right. So thank you for putting me in that zone. And yeah. Over to you, Emily.
Okay. I like the concept for entrepreneurs to face fear, to live with fearlessness, because what we're doing is really bold. Okay. Not a lot of people are actually coaches. Okay. Or actually building their careers and, you know, going for it and in changing lives. So just congratulations to all of us because it takes a level of fearlessness to be an entrepreneur, especially nowadays. Right. But my biggest fear is that I won't have enough time to make enough impact. So I have a similar anxiety like Sherry and have enough impact to help enough people. And so how I solve that is by training my coaches and giving them wonderful mindset concepts so that they can then train and coach their communities and then it can grow from there. Right. That's how we spread that message. So definitely a lot of delegation and letting systems and our systems help us out with sharing our message.
Did I miss out? Did I miss out on anyone? Sorry. Did I? Ladies and gentlemen, that was another episode of the top 10 coaches. Who are these coaches? These are coaches who we have researched, saw their messages, understood they would resonate with all of you, and we brought them to you. Let us know in the comment section. How did you like today's episode? I learned a lot and I'm sure and I hope all of you did as well. Thank you very much.
