How to stand out in the digital world.

A marketer explains how to make your website grab attention in seconds. Use color strategically, nail your messaging, and add short video. These three things are what actually work in digital marketing.
Hi, good evening. Welcome to another video from Internet moguls, live from one of my favorite cities in the world, Vancouver, British Columbia. Today's topic is going to be how to have your Internet marketing, your digital presence, your website, stand out. We all know that. Couple of years back, people said that a regular client on the Internet, your prospective guest on the Internet, takes about 10 seconds before he makes up in mind whether to whether or not to navigate further on your website. Guess what? With all that information coming and people multitasking and going on multiple devices While you're watching TV or on your iPad and your phone and doing 20 other things, that time from 10 seconds has drastically dropped to about six seconds. Six seconds is what it takes today to basically make up your mind whether or not you like the website. So you have to stand out. You have no option. So what do you do to stand out? Well, color is one thing. I'd like to assume that I'm standing out and wearing red color on this. Apart from being my favorite color and my company color. Red does stand out, right? So does orange. Few years back, I was reading a research somewhere done in LA at one of the conferences. Somebody was explaining why every color has its importance and how people navigate through different colors. There was a website which was made for a very large hospitality company based out of the US which said we cannot use anything but yellow. And they had a white paper to explain why they need yellow. Expedia is yellow. You know, many of the Google companies are yellow, so that makes a lot of sense for travel. How is travel related to yellow? We won't go into details of all of that, but the idea of what I'm trying to say through this short video right now is if you're making a website, we understand you have brand colors, we understand you have your own guidelines that you have to work under, but you eventually want that paying customer to stop. Today, that paying customer has only about five to six seconds before he saves you that money or goes to the next page. That cta, that call to action that you're looking for will happen only if you stand out. Your standing out happens through your messaging. It happens. And the messaging happens through either color or what you're saying. How you saying it? Are you saying it through video? Are you saying it through text? Shortest form possible. Like one of my favorites, Gary Vaynerchuk, said in one of his videos, people are not here for the feature film anymore. People are going to watch ads, small ad films. In fact, I was talking to a very prominent ad filmmaker who says we don't do 30 second films anymore. We are now hired by the largest companies to make 8 second 10 second videos. Messages on Facebook. That is what the world is coming to. Small capsules. I'm not saying the feature film idea is out or your long website or your own market. Digital marketing is compressed. But your hook, your hook is compressed. Guy has only a few seconds. Try to stand out in your marketing, in your digital marketing mix. I hope this short video was useful.
