How to turn mess into a message?

Avi Arya shares how to transform personal struggles into messages that matter. He walks through building communities around your story, creating micro videos, and turning what you've learned into something people will pay for.
In today's video, you will learn how to turn your mess into a message. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, my name is Avi Arya, father of two girls, six dogs, husband to a superwoman, a streetcar racer turned hotelier, now social media marketer and founder of Internet moguls. I'm sure you've heard this many times over. I think the first time I heard it was from Nicholas Bard, who's a friend of mine from San Diego and he says how to turn your mess into a message. And for all of you people who feel that my life is a mess now for whatever reasons it happened, let's keep that aside right now. But let me tell you one thing. I'm going to teach you how you can use micro videos to turn your mess into a message. Right now. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, we learn two kinds of things from our parents, our spouses, our friends, our neighbors, our business partners, our colleagues, and every single human being who has been put into to our path in life. Good or bad experiences come from human beings and also the way we react to the situations that those human beings have brought into our lives. Say you were bullied in school and you had a really rough school patch. Now you have two options. A, you can further imbibe that characteristic and bully other people or you can understand how never to talk to anybody like that. I was overweight and underconfident when I was growing up in school. I was always somebody who had so much love from my family. I wanted to do more and more and more, but because of my weight, people ridiculed me non stop. I didn't understand why we could not just have a two minute conversation about my weight. Okay, you're not happy with my weight and then carry on and see me as the human being that I am. But it didn't happen. It continued to push me into circumstances which made me feel upset and sad and that made me a very empathetic person. I cannot call people names because I feel very sensitive and therefore I assume automatically all of you people and everybody in the world feel sensitive too. So today if I create an online course on how to live in this world and not let body shaming affect you, I think I do a pretty do damn decent job. Because today I've reached a certain place in society as a digital marketer where by the grace of God, there are people who read my books, follow my podcast, listen to what I'm saying, and I have the God given gift to be able to make a positive influence into people's lives and I can do that. So if I didn't have that mess in my life, I could not have changed it into a message. I failed in Math in Standard 8. And then my grandfather took me under his wing and he said, you know what? You can do anything that you want. In three months of torturous timetables and schedules. He trained me so well in maths that I got a 99 in the very next semester. It completely changed the way I was. But I still remember when I got a series of C's and D's in my math. It started affecting my net overall internal confidence. And then I got my 99 and then fluctuated back and then I did well and then I did not. But today I can easily tell people that you no need to necessarily focus on math because today whatever I'm doing, which is part of my passion, I've been able to do without really focusing on math. So, ladies and gentlemen, whatever life is teaching you, whatever your partner is teaching you, whatever your spouse is teaching you, whatever your husband, wife, kids, your neighbor, anybody is teaching you, you have two options on how to react. A, you can take that and become bitter or you can take that and become better. It's totally up to you. Bitter or better. Two things, different trajectories can change your life. And then on the bitter path, you'll create karma. On the better path, you create karma and karma comes back. You choose what you want to. But the point I'm trying to make right now is to be able to use micro videos. To be able to tell your message to the world does not require you to be a graduate, a postgraduate, a PhD, a scholar from a top university. Stop beating yourself up about what you do not have. Look at the lessons that life has given you because those are the lessons that are meant for you to be turned into a message and then create micro videos around it. My 12 year old daughter started creating. She was bullied in school. She lost about 15 kilos as a result because she could not tolerate people shaming her. She lost weight and now she become a sensitive person who helps other teenagers deal with bullying. And her channel is around self love. So do we think that her mess was converted into a message for other people? The mess was already there for a learning. For whatever reason it happened in your life. But you today have the power to turn it into a mess. My daughter does a YouTube video every single day focused only on teenagers and helping them and understand how to love themselves and get over bullying. She converted her mess into a message. I Always wanted. I always tell people, if you have a message in your heart then you not sharing it with the world, maybe doing a disservice to yourself, your family and anybody in your generation who will later be watching these videos and to the world at large would miss out on saying, you know what, this person is like me, Avi Arya so openly talks about putting on weight and having weight issues. So that's okay, I can talk about it too. Turn your mess into a message. Ladies and gentlemen, you went through a relationship which was less than perfect. Now you're out of it or you're still in it. How you got into it, how you dealt with it, what were the things that came out of it, what would you advise others to do and not to do in a situation like this? You can turn your mess into a message. Ladies and gentlemen, you got fired from a job. You didn't know what to do. You got out of depression, started your next job which you never thought would come. But after two years it came. And today you're in a different setting. But those two years you felt life is never going to change. Share that message with people. Because you've gone past those two years where you thought everything was dark and gloomy, but now you change your message into a message. Ladies and gentlemen, if you feel for all of you people who say, Parabi, I'm still in the message, how should I deal with it now if this is the best time for you? I believe the only way I can pull myself out of a mess is by sharing my message with other people. Collectively, we will all come out. The best way to learn is to teach. If you're going through something and you're learning something, understand for whatever reason is happening, you can share it with other people. Say for example, if you have an addiction, alcohol or anything, maybe you can talk to people and say, you know what? I used to drink half a bottle a day. Now I drink one drink and sometimes I lose all control and I go back to drinking half a bottle. And I, you know, I swear on my children I will never do it again. But I broke the promise again and I'm trying to make it happen. Ladies and gentlemen, this is what I believe. I used to do it every day. Today I've come 1/10 off, you know, to the destination that I wanted to, just 1/10. I still have 90% to go. I'm still struggling. Let's do it together. Let's make it happen. I know it can happen. The one thing I did was I stopped partying with My friends, I stopped not talking about myself. I'm talking about this gentleman who had this problem with alcohol. So if he's taken that one step of not going out and saying, you know what, if I find myself in the company of the same people, I will exactly be doing the same things. So first thing I did was I let go of the company. Now I spend my Friday Saturdays with my best friends and my cousins and my family. All of those people who understand that I am struggling to give up an addiction and they support me. That's the first step I've taken. But I still, sometimes once in four weeks or six weeks, I mess up. That's a mess that you can turn into a message. Ladies and gentlemen, micro videos allow your message to be shared with people all over the world. And if you put in money into your Facebook ads or Google Ads or YouTube Ads, you can share this message with people around the world. The opportunity is limitless. People start connecting with you because your mess is attracting them to you because they're going through a similar mess. But maybe they don't have the power or the courage to talk about it. Once you start talking about it and you do regular videos, those videos form a community. Then you start going live every day on Instagram and taking people's questions and start inspiring them, guiding them. And then finally people say, abhi, how else can you help me? You create a short online course or you create weekly offline trainings or weekly online trainings where you charge an amount for people to come and learn from you. How to go from step A to step b. You say, Abhi, I'm still struggling. There are the 10 people in your community. All of you come together and create that course. You can do a webinar every Sunday and tell people or do it every Friday because Friday night is weekends. And weekends is when people start thinking, this is the time I'm going to drink Monday to Friday. They got over there drinking Friday stuff Friday morning. Do a webinar in eight. Encourage them and help them get over this weekend. One more weekend, one without drinking is a big achievement. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, using micro videos to be able to convert any mess in your life that you perceive as a mess can turn into a message for other people. And that message can be monetized. And please let me tell all of you people, monetization is a good word. It's not a bad word. Money, especially in India, I know money is worshipped. We worship Goddess Lakshmi because when Goddess Lakshmi comes our house, we are able to take care of our commitments, of our family, of society, charity, whatever we want to do.
