Two speakers map out how to shift from your current job to work you actually want to do. They walk through a real scenario: someone leaving their job to start a video editing studio, and what that transition actually looks like.
Many nine to five employees want to pursue their passion. But we have responsibilities, we have money, commitment. What is that suggestion that you can give them?
Beautiful question. See, for example, one wants to open a video editing studio, and he is working for a company that sells T shirts. First step I would suggest, is he join somebody who's got a video editing studio and he works with that person. Because firstly, work will become less taxing because now he's doing what he wants to do, and then he's getting salary. Plus he's doing what he loves to do. Plus he's building his resume for his future business. After working for a year or so in something that he loves doing, then he opens his own outfit. Because by the time he knows how to get clients, he knows how to do costing, he knows where to hire freelancers, he knows the entire business.
