This is a YouTube video titled "Podcast Monetization: Guide to Launch, Grow & Monetise Your Podcast | By Podcasting Expert Joe Fier" created on September 29, 2021. The content appears to be an expert guide or presentation focused on strategies for launching, growing, and monetizing podcasts. There is no indication of multiple speakers or a conversation involving Avi Arya.
So our goal is to make discoverability of our content and our podcast and our brand very simple. And then we're going to bring them in into our space, which is the podcast, the agreements and the templates of how we present these sponsorships to companies. And it's pretty amazing because the traditional models. Hey, I'm Joe Fear, and in this video, this is exclusive for the Internet Moguls of the World School. Thank you, Avi Arya, for the invite. I'm here to show you exactly how we do things differently in the podcast world. And you're gonna learn how to launch, grow and make money from your podcast, even if you don't have one and even if you've never thought of making one. This one's gonna open up your mind to a lot of possibilities on how to leverage content, audio content and other types of content. But it just looks like a podcast. But you'll see how it's all broken down. So hang with me here. You're going to have a lot of insights. Thank you again, Avi, and the team for making this happen. Let's dive in. I'm going to go quick, so make sure to. If you need to slow the video down, you can take notes. And there's going to be a lot here, something for everyone. So let's get into it right now. How to launch and grow and make money from your podcast. So let's get into it. I a little bit about me and my co host and business partner, Matt Wolf. So we run a podcast for the last, well, since 2017, almost five years, called hustle and Flowchart. You can see it, you can find us, we're Everywhere. We're on YouTube as well. And we also have this training, basically a business in a box type program called Pod Hacker, which essentially is a deeper dive in. Exactly what I'm going to tell you right here. So our background starts in Internet marketing back in 2007. Matt and I were doing a lot of digital marketing back then, going to all the conferences, meeting all the people, networking like crazy. And we've been making content and podcasts since actually 2010. This is a picture from our original setup in Matt's house, where it was definitely not pretty. You know, we had very inexpensive equipment. We had our microphones and our laptops all propped up actually with mattresses in his living room. Inflatable mattresses. We had two different. It was messy. It was very messy, but it worked. This was back in 2010. The podcast world was much different back then. It's evolved a lot now that we're in 2021 and beyond, you know, it's going to just keep going crazy and it's on a rapid growth right now. So if you are not in the podcast world or if you've not considered it, or having your own show, or even guesting on other shows, being a podcast guest, this is your time to get in and double down your attention on podcasting and how it fits in your current business and vision. So back to us, we were digital marketers and still are for a long time. Matt and I have been partners for over 10 years and now, you know, we're co hosts on this podcast. We've talked to some of the greats in marketing and some of these authors and speakers and all these people that we've looked up as mentors for many, many, many years. Avi has also been on the show and that's just a brilliant episode. I highly recommend watching it on Hustle and Flowchart. But you can see we've spoken at Stages, at Traffic and Conversion. That's the biggest summit, you know, and conference in digital marketing. We've also spoken at many offline events. Actually Pod Fest Online, that's one of the biggest podcast conferences and it's nice. We find ourselves as a blend of marketers, digital marketers and podcasters and kind of the creators type. So our job and our mission is to blend those two together and give you a perfect roadmap on how to do it and basically shortcut your way from over the 10 years of ourselves kind of experimenting and failing along the way. So you can see we've been speaking at places like War Room. These are, this is a $30,000 plus per year mastermind. And we were basically teaching this exact presentation there with them and minds were blown. We, you know, and these are extremely successful people running amazing businesses. And this is a strategy and a technique you can use in your business to generate more leads, to generate more attention to your brand and your authority, connect with amazing people and then monetize in many ways. So that's exactly what we have done. We found ourself as both of us over the years as seven figure affiliate marketers. That's on the result of selling other people's products and offers, you know, software tools and training programs and services to, to the on the back of our content. So all this is on the back of our podcast blog posts, YouTube videos, but that all starts as our podcast. So we can do seven figures and affiliate promotions that way. We also have an email list that is very Big, and it's very engaged. And it's nice because that's a derivative of our podcast. You know, these are people that are actually coming in and wanting more from us after they listen to us somewhere. We've appeared on tons of podcasts and different publications. Over 300. That's probably much higher at this point. We haven't updated that number, actually. And we've been speaking around stages, around podcasting and marketing for years now. So in this video, and for you, what we're going to cover is a lot, like I said, we're going to talk about how we suggest launching a podcast in 2021 and actually building your own personal media company. So that's really the mindset you should have going into it. It's not just you as a podcaster, but now you can actually build a media company around your brand, your existing company, and leverage podcasting strategically in the way that I'll show you here in this video. And you can actually be on a ton of platforms and grow your brand and authority and get a lot of leads and sales doing what you're already doing, but just shifting a little bit as a podcast and media company. I'm going to tell you how to do that here. And then we're also going to get into strategies to actually grow your brand, how to attract the best people, and how to become or create raving fans on the back of your content. We'll also get into how to actually grow an engaged audience because there's a lot of techniques there, and podcasting keeps you top of mind. And of course, monetizing. There's tons of ways to monetize and make money from the back of the traffic and attention in the podcast that you'll create. So I want to show how we do that. But first of all, let's talk about why podcasting? So why do we choose podcasts and why should you? Well, there's a ton of reasons here. I'm going to pick a few. I won't go through them all, but the biggest thing that we love is actually right down on the bottom here, and my cursor's not showing up on the bottom right, is networking and connections. This is the number one way to get connected to anyone that you want on this planet is podcasting, or at least anyone who is of authority, who wants a little attention, who has an Internet connection, you know, that all helps, but this is a way to create your own stage and invite people that you might have been wanting to get in touch with or, you know, have Felt a little far out of your reach. Maybe it's someone that can be a great joint venture partner or someone that's a mentor of yours. This is your chance to actually bring them to your stage as a podcast and pick their brain. You can actually, you know, really create a lot of great friendships and then create some good deals. And you have, you know, this, this person now that's part of your network. So it's, it's amazing. This is how we've grown connections in the affiliate space, mentors. We've done a lot of deals. That's how Avi has become a buddy of ours. So Internet moguls, you gotta listen to this. This is, this is an opportunity to really expand everything you're doing. Just with podcasting, it's, it's very simple to do when you follow the system. A couple other things on here, you can actually systemize this whole thing. I'm gonna show a system on how we do this effectively and efficiently. So it doesn't have to be a full time job. It's definitely not for us. Lead gen and monetization, those are two things that we love. The leads that come in from a podcast are usually extremely high quality. These are the ones that are going to pay attention to your emails, to your messages, to your social media posts. And then of course, monetization I'm going to dig into. There's a whole section of monetization here. So we make money off of podcasts. Probably over 10 different mechanisms, 10 different ways, probably even more. I mean, there's new opportunities all the times as a media company. And this is why it's more than just a podcast. There's actually other things happening. So let's, let's continue here. So for the types of podcasts, you know, not everyone is going to be an interview show, but interview shows are great. But maybe you just want to talk directly to your listeners or to your viewers. Well, that's where you can have kind of a solo show. You could just be talking about a concept that you want to share with folks, or maybe you want to read the news in your industry and be a curator of content. That is all great and you can put that right into your niche. You know, you could talk to the people that want to hear about this kind of stuff. Because if you're not going to put it out there, someone else will, so might as well be you. And so think about that. Different types of podcasts is you can actually repurpose other people's content or even your own content. Asking for permission of others. But we know a lot of successful podcasts that actually are just reading other people's content, other people's blog posts with permission in the industry of your choosing. So that's an option for a podcast type as well. There's of course, storytelling being the narrative approach. We don't really talk a lot about that. And it takes some different types of marketing, but there's, that's, it's an amazing way, if that's your type of podcast, reporting the news, that's kind of like curation, but you can definitely report the news, all the trends, the new things happening, maybe new strategies and things that people should be aware of. But you can kind of wrap it in your own brand and then still direct people to your website after they listen, so they follow you. These are all ways to generate content systematically and consistently. That's the key is systems and consistency. It's not just a one and done thing, but always mashing it up and making sure that it aligns with your business and where you want to take things. So some examples, these are a little older articles, but you've probably seen the news. Spotify is putting a big push, putting a lot of money into podcasting in general. They're acquiring companies, they're acquiring the rights to podcasts, license rights, they're paying a lot of money out to celebrities and even niche kind of creators. They're putting a lot of money into this space and a lot of brands are. If you just look at the news of podcasting, there's always new news every single week with new investments, money and attention, advertising revenue, people just choosing podcasting over reading these days. So being where, if you're looking at the trends, podcasting is square in the middle of a very hot trend. So it's just a really good reason to pay attention to podcasting. And, and this is what we're just kind of obsessed with because it's, it's, it's everywhere now. So what you're looking at here could look confusing. So I'm, I'm kind of jumping now into more of the reasons why you want a podcast and how we see podcasting. So as you look at this, this right here podcast is right down here. So what you're looking at are four quadrants. This is actually borrowed from Perry Marshall. This is a, a matrix that he's developed. And Perry Marshall is a brilliant guy. He's talked a lot about 80 20, marketing and all that. Definitely look him up. He's a good friend of ours. So when we Saw this. This basically lines out and shows there's four quadrants of content that you should show up in. And the one that podcast naturally lives in is audio, visual and recorded content. So things like podcasts are in there. Radio ads, you, YouTube ads, Instagram ads, some types of Facebook ads. You know, they leverage video and audio and they're recorded, they're prerecorded. But think about these other quadrants. So there's things like where Google organic or your blog, written blog or even newspapers or paid newsletters, affiliates. These are usually recorded in their text, you know, so it's text based like a blog post and they're recorded, they're. There's something that, you know, you, you publish it and then it's out there. So the cool thing is podcasts can live over here as well. And I'll show you in a second. But over here now we have the live and the text. So these are things like social media platforms. You have Things like Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Facebook, all those things require some text based and then it's live, more or less. It's live on the platform, it seems more in time. But then you go over here on the right hand side and you have audio, visual, and then you have live. So those are things like live streams. Avi does that a lot to the Internet moguls, to you. So that's things like, you know, there's Instagram lives, Facebook Lives, YouTube Lives, all the lives, you know, you have zoom. So webinars, all that stuff would live here. Now the beauty with podcasts, if you're thinking about this systematically, you can actually show up in all these different locations. And that is with very strategic repurposing. And this is exactly what we do. So every single blue circle that you see on this is an opportunity to show up in a different quadrant. And the power of this is that everyone finds, discovers and likes to consume content in different ways. And you know, it continues over here. You can see, you know, all this stuff involves podcasting. So if you're leveraging video, it helps you to kind of get into more quadrants and especially repurposing. Then you can show up in all these platforms. That's just going to heighten the, the, the percentage or the awareness of your brand and allows people to find you easier. That's the whole point. So our goal is to make discoverability of our content and our podcast and our brand very simple. And then we're going to bring them in, into our space, which is the podcast, our email list, our Social media communities like Facebook groups and YouTube pages, all that stuff and is going to be. It's all started with the podcast right there. So that's where we see podcasting differently. And this is actually a little bit more of a deep dive. So I want to make kind of change your perception of podcasting, you know, if you allow me here. So on the left hand side. Oops. On the left hand side you see how most podcasters will approach podcasting. So they usually schedule an interview kind of just on the fly. It's, it's not really systemized. You can see on our side, you know, is the column on the right is that we batch record. We're very systemized and we use a calendar system, which I'll share with you, that allows us to not have to think about it too much. So having a system in batch recording is key when you do this. So on the left hand side, most podcasters try to do everything themselves. Well, that's a, that's obviously a clear line to burnout and it's probably going to be very costly. You're going to probably forget about some other stuff in your business. You don't want to add another job on your plate. So what we choose to do is focus on just recording the content and doing that the best we can and then leveraging our team and systems and software to get things published. There's a lot of inexpensive resources out there to, to actually, you know, edit podcasts and actually people if you find them strategically, you know, it's not that complicated to get someone up and going and running your podcasting, publishing and editing all that process for you. I'm going to show you what's required of you later. Expensive equipment, you don't need it. All right, so between our studio, this is a new setup here, so it's a little bit more expensive. But this is five years in, we finally invested in all this. But before the first five years it was about $500 worth of equipment and we probably could have even gotten cheaper than that. So you don't need expensive stuff when it comes to sponsorships. So this is usually the main way most people think about making money with podcasts is through sponsorships. Well, that's just one of them. And the way that most people do it is incorrect. It's not really the way that most people are. It's not the way that's going to return the most money for your effort. So typically it's done in the CPM model that's cost per thousand downloads. Now we don't do that. We do that in a totally different way where we sponsor with more of a bundled approach, where we actually can demand a lot more money. But we also monetize through affiliate links, through partnership deals. You know, there's a lot of, lot of stuff with our email list, our social media groups, all that stuff that we can link to our own offers. Like Pod Hacker, you know, is, there's a lot of ways to direct attention once you have it. Now over here on the left hand side, most podcasters will rely on places like itunes or Apple podcasts or Spotify for growth. And that's it. Now what we like to do is actually rely on ourselves and our system and the platforms. But we like to make sure that we're generate growth through maybe some paid, paid sponsorships or paid ads, through SEO and organic traffic, through going on other people's podcasts for referral traffic. And then we also were on YouTube. So we're leveraging the algorithm there, there's a ton of things that we do. We've obviously done some webinars with Avi and the Internet moguls. So thank you for that. And that's, that's how we grow our platform. And you know, if someone connects with us, then they come a little deeper into our platform. Maybe they listen to our podcast or, or they start to, you know, join our email list, buy our product. That's usually how we monetize and grow our brand. And then lastly over here, Show Notes. Most podcasters just don't have them. And that's basically your blog post about the episode that you just recorded. Well, the Show Notes is the number one way that we're getting new traffic that's organic traffic for us. So that's how we SEO for a lot of our guests names or other topics that we talk about in the podcast. And it's very simple. You can just go to, go to hustleandflowchart.com and you can check out some examples of this and take a peek at how we structure this. I'll show you a little bit of that inside of here. So before we deep dive into the specifics, I'm going to just kind of show you that we have this whole journey that we've mapped out. And this is Pod Hacker and Avi has mentioned this before. And Pod Hacker is basically our deep dive business in a box. If you want to launch engage. So grow a community. If you want to amplify, grow your email list, grow your, your downloads and kind of hack your way there, growth Hack your way in and then make money with all this and many to go as fast as I can through most of it. But there's a lot of details, templates and strategies and processes that we just give you in there, even agreements for things like sponsorships. So just keep that in mind. And. But you can see that we, we line everything out through these kind of four pillars. Now in this video, I'm going to go through three of them, so most of them. But there's a lot of details here. But these are the. I'm going to hit on the details that are the biggest objections that most people have before they start a show. But you can see down here, you know, we're talking about launching our systems to support the podcast and business. The Engage is talking about getting great guests and, and growing a community. Then we talk about amplifying, which is growth hacking, you know, growth hacking your podcast to get more downloads, listeners, watchers, you know, viewers on other platforms, and then making money on the back of all your systems. That's key to everything we're doing. And you could see the results. You know, the result when you first build this thing and follow is that you're gonna have this thing launched and the systems are gonna be in place so you can save your time. And then you're gonna become a networking machine. I mean, you can get connected with pretty much anyone you can think of, as long as you angle and kind of follow and have a nice presentable stage, which is a podcast and kind of this media kind of looking brand for yourself. And then, of course, amplifying allows you to get more of the right listeners with ease and quickly. And then monetization allows you to generate not only the. What's going to be required to cover the expenses, which shouldn't be much for podcasting, but it should greatly increase your lead flow and then, of course, make money in a variety of ways. And we'll get into that. So let's talk about the building phase at first, since this is usually, I would say, 80% of the questions that come up. So this is the phase where, you know, we're thinking about the systems, we're thinking about what's needed to actually create this kind of, you know, this podcast that you choose. Depending on the format, it's going to be different. So you want to think about what's the concept of your podcast. You know, why. Why do you want a podcast? And how do you see it fitting into your business? And that's where you really want to think about what does Your, your audience want out of a podcast. So that's where. And then, you know, how much demand can you put to a podcast? How much energy and focus can you put into it? That's probably going to determine the type of show you're going to make. And then of course, your launch strategy you can get into, you know, if you have an existing email list. That's how we started. We had a community already, so we, we made sure that community knew that we have a new show and the reasons why they should watch it. Now there should be, there could be other launch strategies where you're leveraging YouTube. If you have a present there presence there, then that could be a good spot to start putting out, you know, content specifically for your podcast. You can go on other podcasts and start telling people about your show and what's new. You can put pr, There's a lot of press releases. If you do it strategically. These are all launch strategies and, and there's a ton more. But think about how you can launch this like an event almost. And then we're going to get into, and what we talk about in the, in the building phase is kind of outreaching and scheduling. We have systems for that and I'll get into what that looks like and actually how we do some, some research of these people as well. And then the recording phase and then publishing. I'm going to dig into some of that process in a minute. But I would say of all questions, it's the equipment questions. You know, what kind of equipment do I need to get going and sound really good now? For five years, almost five years, we used this equipment that you're looking at. These are like, it's very simple, it's very inexpensive stuff. So there's two of us. So we essentially doubled up on, you know, the microphones and the cables, but we were using the Shure SM58 microphones. We're not using these here. These are actually Rodecaster microphones and we're using a Rodecaster Pro Pro. You can't quite see it, but it's right in front of me. This is not required to start though. What you're seeing on screen is much more of a recommended starting point. So these Shure mics, they're about 100 each. And then these cables over here, just XLR cables, we bought, bought ours on Amazon. They're nothing fancy. You can find them in a ton of different places. And then we're using this audio interface called a Zoom H5 recorder. There's a bunch of other Zoom ones But you can check them out. There's a lot of great stuff out there. But this is essentially our mixer. So this bundle here allowed us to travel with our podcast. We could do in persons. We can be in the car if we wanted to, or you could just set it up in a studio, as long as you get some boom stands or something around there. Or you can hold your microphones. We did that for a bit too. But to keep it super simple, that's your, that's your equipment right there. Nothing very fancy and definitely not expensive. Now, in terms of software, we've changed a lot over the years, and some of this isn't totally up to date in terms of what we are using now, but that's because some of this stuff gets. It's. It's unnecessary to just start. So for scheduling all of our sessions, all the recording calls, we use Calendly. And we like Calendly because it integrates with a lot of different stuff. It helps us gather a bunch of information from our guests when they come in. You know, they can tell us what topics they want to talk about, what their address is. So we can send them some thank you shirts or thank you notes and all sorts of different things. It also allows us to send them reminders, you know, of when the calls coming up. We can give them ideas of what, what, what to expect once they're on the show. It just keeps people on point. And most people do not miss our recording sessions. Most people show up, which is really nice. And that is a big problem. If you do all this work, you want to make sure that people show. So have a good calendar system now for, for video recording, we do a lot of that, but Zoom is typically what we use. We're actually now starting to migrate to Riverside fm, but either one of those are a great starting point. So check into that. We're all using Zoom, but the cool thing is that Calendly and Zoom actually integrate with each other. So that's how we can kind of automate some more stuff and not have to create a new Zoom room. We can, it's. It's. That's getting into the weeds. But this is kind of the setup that we've been using for almost five years now. Recording audio, Audio hijack. This is a tool. If we go straight into. It's kind of used just because there's two of us. So if it's just you on your side talking with someone else, you don't need this. But I wanted to put this in here if you have a second person with you or there's two of you. This actually splits the tracks out for you, so it's easier to edit, you know, so if, like, there's one track for me, one track for Matt, if Matt coughs or something over there, we can then make sure that that's cut out and it. And, you know, no one really hears that. So it's good to think about if you have multiple microphones in one location. For hosting, there's a ton of hosts out there. For podcasts, it's kind of like website hosting. It's very inexpensive. They all kind of do the same thing, but slightly different. We like to use Libsyn. This is what we've been on ever since we started. There's other ones like Captivate. FM is a good one. Simple Cast is another one that's out there. Buzzsprout, you see it a lot. These are all really good. So I would just look for something that kind of fits what your needs are. And then for editing, there's a ton of options. We've used Adobe Audition for a long time. That's if you kind of really want to get detailed into your editing or have an editor. Adobe Audition is definitely really good, but other tools like Description are amazing. I would definitely check out descript and actually on one of the live sessions with Avi and the other Internet moguls, you know, we actually talked about descript and that being a tool that's just always evolving and it's much easier to use. So check out either Adobe Edition or Descript. Those would get you in the right place. So when it comes to having a guest on your podcast, you want to have some research. You want to actually put some effort into. Into, you know, the conversation and knowing how you want to ask the questions, what kind of topics you want to cover. These are the places we like to go to. And we keep it simple. We probably we research for a couple hours per guest, sometimes more. Depends on what we want or what we're doing. But listen notes dot com, this is another resource I chatted out, shouted out with AVI and the Internet moguls of the world is listennotes.com that is like the Google of podcasts. So it's a great way to see different, you know, bullet points about what is it that these previous people like? Let's say I have a guest like Robert Cialdini. We're about to have him on our podcast. Well, I'm going to go to Listen Notes and see what other podcasts are talking about with Robert Cialdini. Yeah, and it's going to give me kind of some big ideas of where I can kind of start thinking about questions. And also I can listen to podcasts there as well. So you can just type in the person's name or a topic at Listen Notes and then it's going to spit out a bunch of ideas for you. Social media, of course, it's pretty obvious, but still it's a great resource. So look up the person's name, find them on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, all these other networks out there and see what they're up to, what they're interested in, what are they posting about recently. These are all things that give you ideas of what to bring up to them and connect with people even tighter. And this is how you create really good interviews. Of course, if they have books or other, you know, if there's book summaries for the authors out there or maybe topics around what you're going to talk about, go check those out. There's a lot of great summary apps out there. You know, there's Headway is one that we're really, really bullish on. We're using it a lot. It's called Headway and that's for the iPhone. I don't know if it's for Android. You can go to YouTube and just look up book summaries. You know, there's tons of them for all the major books out there, if that's going to help you out. So now I want to get into our podcasting process. This is usually one that, you know, it's good to see visuals here and for you to understand what's happening behind the show itself. So you can see it breaks down from recording day, editing, audio, note taking. We have a whole note taking process and then we have show notes, which are those blog posts I told you about, and then a publishing phase. So let me break it down for you and show you really fast. Our time is all spent on the recording days. That's where we spend our time. It's about eight hours per month for recording content for the podcast. All the other stuff is handled by our team and our systems. So let's get into that now. Recording day for us. It usually, typically it's not four episodes anymore, but we, for a long time we were recording four episodes in one day, about one hour each. And these are all through Zoom. Now we're using calendly, you know, and these, what we do is we separate the recordings just slightly. So there's always a gap for us to, you know, to record maybe an intro and outro or to get some food, use the restroom. That way we can condense all of our work for our podcasting into either one or two days a month. Really, really cool. Highly recommend figuring out how to batch record for your own. Now we also have different notes. You know, we research our guests. Sometimes we have VAs helping us. I just went through the process there for you. We're using zoom or screenflow here. Let me get my cursor. Zoom or screen flow for recording or sometimes Riverside fm, like we're starting to do now. We record the intros and sometimes outros with takeaways. Call to actions. Maybe there's sponsorship reads that's all done inside of there and then we just upload it to Dropbox for our team. Now once our team gets all that, they're going to add in the intros and the outros to the podcast actual episode itself. They do some light editing. We like to keep it kind of coming natural and organic. So we don't do a lot of editing. And then they upload that to Dropbox and then what happens after that? And this is kind of unique and something to think about is that we have a note taker. We pay a note taker separately to actually take notes on the episode audio. And these are, we call them action guides and they're kind of like Cliff Notes or a summary guide of the entire hour long episode. Well, that's condensed into about four pages, you know, two to four pages. So we actually have someone typing in the big main points. And this is perfect because this a. It helps get, get some copy ready for the, the, this page right here, the show notes page. But it also allows us to then use that, those note sheets that we just wrote there as a legion opportunity. So that's where we direct people from, from our podcast. That's our main call to action. And it says download the action guides of this episode. And you just gotta give us your email address and then we'll send that to you within two weeks of this episode going live. So I highly recommend figuring out how to somehow take some notes or create some really valuable freebie for your listeners. We just happen to create these notes and this is part of the process here now for publishing. After that, after that's all done, it's all basically published. That's where we put it to Libsyn for the audio publishing and that distributes to Apple, to Spotify and all the other platforms. Then we create little opt ins. We use a tool called convert box and that's an amazing tool. Get convert box.com. it's, it's like, that's the, it's amazing opt in tool. So I highly recommend looking into that. We use WordPress for everything. So we publish there. That's where the blog post lives and the audio. And then we email the guests and we always ask them to share or let them know it's live. We don't push people to share, but we just say, hey, here's some, some cool images that we made for you. We'd love a share. If not, it's all good, but we always ask for referrals. So like, hey, who's another guest that we should get connected with? Or, you know, how can we help you out? That's all happening right then. And then that's when you start the marketing. So getting into marketing, I'm going to go a little quick now because I got a lot to cover. Okay. So that was the build phase and getting things going. Now we're going to get into amplifying your content and making sure that people see it. So the whole goal here is to get more loyal listeners to your podcast. So we're going to talk or think about, you know, these are things to keep in mind or have some marketing assets. Things like quote cards or videos, maybe clip from the podcast. You know, things that you can give your guest and post on social media and create these kind of shareable, snackable little bits here. So there's ways to, you know, sometimes you do a day of promotion when it goes live, maybe you go on Instagram and do a story about it. You start posting places, but then you gotta, you want to think about evergreen promotion. So that's why we love YouTube right now is we could post a clip on YouTube and a year or two from now it should still be growing and getting views and allowing people to find our brand and our podcast on YouTube and then they can kind of, you know, you know, start listening or watching other videos. That's the evergreen side of things. You can also run Facebook ads, Google Ads, or, or get press releases. You know, these are all ways to keep the growth happening after the episode goes live. And of course you can leverage organic growth. So that's things like SEO, that's our, that's, that's what we love. Or even YouTube SEO. Both of that would be great organic growth to think about. And then paid growth. I already mentioned, you know, you can use Facebook ads, Google Ads, but you can also use like YouTube ads, or you can even publish or you can create ads in podcast platforms. And look, if there's advertising opportunities in podcast platform that you use or other people, you can actually usually reach out to that platform. Or maybe there's a place on their website where you can, you can go see if you, if you want to pay some money, you can show up in the rankings a little higher. And that usually is a great way to grow your podcast quicker and, and then supplement the organic growth as well. So I highly recommend doing that. And some other ideas are over here, like launching a contest. You could do social media promos, guest promotions, go on other podcasts, run ads, email about episodes. There's a lot of good stuff. So have this in mind when you're thinking about growth. And this is kind of an addition of that. You know, you want to think about the email audiences that are around. Maybe you have Facebook groups and podcast guests. These are all people that can help amplify your message for you. And think about repurposing as well. You know, we always think about, it starts with audio and video because we're always using video. But think about the different platforms and the ways to use audio, video and text. And then it comes into, you know, if retargeting is a little tricky these days with all the different cookie stuff that's happening. But leverage retargeting if you have the ability, if you know how to do that. And then of course, podcast guesting, that's an amazing approach to spread the word of your brand and your podcast and grow is go on other podcasts that are out there, maybe do Instagram lives or Facebook Lives, YouTube Lives. These are all ways to get in front of other audiences and bring them to you. Now monetization, this is the last section and this is usually the most fun because it gets people's minds going. And this is where you'll start to see the picture of, oh, if I build these systems and have a just one good way to make money with what you're putting out there, it'll cover the cost to build all of this. It'll cover the cost of your time, it'll cover the cost of buying some new equipment, software. And ideally it's going to bring in enough leads that are willing and ready and able to buy something from you and they trust you. When you recommend links to other places so you can get paid as an affiliate, maybe they're going to buy your membership program and pay you every month or join your mastermind or your consulting services. This is how we see it because once someone gets to the point where they're deciding to make or, you know, invest somehow further with you. They usually trust you. They probably listen to a handful of episodes they've heard you call out, a call to action, you know, something, maybe a sponsorship promotion. These are all times where people are going to go jump in and maybe join your email list. You know, there's subscription offers like membership sites. We have one of those as well. We run sponsorships. There's tons of ways to do sponsorships. You know, you have the different reads that you could do at the front of the show, inside the show. You can mention products even subtly, you know, kind of naturally. And you can actually offer for payment there. How about the, the end of the show? There's different ways to create sponsorships. And inside of Pod Hacker, our course, you know, if that's something you're interested in, there's actually ways that we, we give the agreements and the templates of how we present these sponsorships to companies. And it's pretty amazing because we use a different model that most people don't do and it will give you a lot more money than the traditional models. Affiliate marketing, we talked about this already. There's so many ways, and I'm sure you've heard of affiliate marketing. This is just going to give you a better platform to talk about things you're really excited about or that you think people should know about. And a lot of times people are going to go jump on it, especially if it's a simple URL or you ask them to join your email list or, you know, you send an email and give them further details there. Of course, merch like shirts, hoodies, hats, things like that people love, they love to support podcasters and, you know, creators that, that they're connected with. It's a great way to get your brand out there. You can even give them away if you want, just to kind of as a part of a contest or something like that. But it's a great way to make some cash as well. And there's a lot of print on demand services so you don't have to think about the fulfillment side of it. Offers and services. So like I told you, Pod Hacker is our main offer. So on our podcast, you know, if someone's interested in learning about what we do as a podcast, but also as a business with our email marketing and with YouTube and all these things, we're going to direct them to Pod Hacker. And you know, for you, maybe it's. You have an offer out there where you're teaching something to your to your audience. Well, that should be your main call to action. Or if you're a service based business, maybe you have, you know, consulting clients and you do services well, you can direct people to a page that sends people to a freebie or something that you know is in line with your offer. Maybe it's something that's already converting or maybe there's a, you know, you can have an audit or a quick call with a prospective person that wants to buy your services. If it's high end thing, whatever it might be, think of what's already working for you and then blend that into your podcasting. Of course, books are always great. If you have a book, this is a perfect platform to use it and distribute it and then intensives, masterminds, events. I mean, Avi is amazing at that with the Internet moguls of the world. So, you know, if you have a mastermind or a group or if you want to create one, this is a great way to kind of cultivate a good audience and then give them an offer to go join and essentially engage with you, you know, and in charge for it. So I'm going to show you our favorite way to, to monetize our podcast, or at least like it's one of our most effective systematic ways. And I'll walk you through this little flowchart here. So on the left hand side, let me get my cursor, there it is. So on the left hand side, everything starts on our podcast, like I was saying. So hustle. Flowchart starts right here. And what we do is our main call to action. It's actually, it's, it's one call to action. It looks like two here. It's actually combined. So let me explain it. The call to action on the podcast is. Hey, did you like this episode? Well, we took the notes for you. You can get a free action guide if you go quick. Only within two weeks of this episode going live. Just go to flowchart group.com that's flowchart group.com and that's going to give you the opportunity to give you your email address. So right in your email address and we'll send you the action guides of this episode. But be quick, go there. So that's going to give them the action guides or the flow notes. But at the same time we actually, it's a redirect link the flowchartgroup.com you can check it out if you wish. Flowchartgroup.com redirects to our Facebook group, but at the same time, one of the questions there asks for their email address so we can then send them the notes as well. So it's, it's, it's doing two things at once and it's allowing us to create a community on Facebook as a group. And it also has them join our email list because immediately after that there's an opportunity for the folks to upsell into our membership and to our newsletter. It's kind of the same thing. And the sell there is, hey, do you want to get all of the action guides of the podcast? All 400 plus action guides? Well, it's only $15 a month if you want to get a physical newsletter and a whole digital membership site of those, or it's only 59 per year and it's digital only. So what that allows us to do, it's kind of like our fan club. Those are the people that really, really like what we're putting out or they like our guests and the types of things we're talking about. And that's a big time savings. So they're paying to essentially get all of everything that we put out. And maybe they want to listen to all the episodes, but they want to dive into our content deeper. Maybe they want to see some of the other things that we're putting out in our email list. You know, we're always talking about new things, cool trends or insights and strategies. Well, this is why people want to join us on this. So it's, you can see if you kind of think about yourself, put your podcast here, your potential podcast, and think about what's the next best step. And that might be giving away the notes. Or maybe it's a call with you, or maybe not a call with you, but it's an action guide. It's like a cheat sheet or something around what you're talking about in your podcast. And of course, you could do the whole redirect like we do and send it to a Facebook group as well. And then of course you can have an upsell to a variety of different things. But just think, what's the next step for someone to take with you? So all this stuff, you can kind of see this in action. So we've had a lot of different episodes here. You know, these are just some of the folks. And on our website, this is an example of one of our show notes pages. We have these little opt ins. This is that convert box opt in I was telling you about. It actually slides up. So this allows us to always be generating new leads off of the organic traffic or the other traffic that Follows finds us as a result of searching for a podcast or listening. And these are always giving people the opportunity to get the action guides of the episodes. And they look something like this. You can see they're just simple bullet points. But it's condensing everything that we've talked about. And the cool thing is that we actually send a physical newsletter once per month of these same notes. So because, you know, there's a digital version that they'll get for free here, but every single month people choose to get it. They pay $15 per month, very inexpensive. And we ship this around the world. So no matter where you live, you can get this. And this condenses all the coolest marketing tricks and you know, different big, big ideas and strategies and mindset shifts. They're all in these pages. And it's about 30 pages per month. And we, you can see it's just, it's. People love it, it's really cool. And this keeps you again, top of mind. And people don't throw these things away, which is nice. So if you really want to stay top of mind, you can see we've been doing this since 2016, so it goes back some ways and we're still doing it. So this is, so that's, that's basically this model here. But I wanted to give you one other example. If you're, let's say a consultant or you know, you don't have maybe don't want to have a membership site or a newsletter, well, what you can do is let's say you have your podcast over here and you know, you're a consultant or you want to work with someone, maybe you have more masterminds or high ticket stuff. Well, you can always give them an opportunity to either get a cheat sheet from you, you know, it's a main call to action on the podcast, or you can do like an audit or a call. Kind of mentioned that earlier, but I wanted to give you these visuals here. And then of course on that call you have the opportunity. Now you have people that are really interested. They already know like and trust you from the podcast. Like, well, this is probably gonna be one of the easiest sales calls or audits, you know, or sales conversation then you ever had is having a podcast first. This kind of vets out everybody. It gets people to really know like and trust you, like I said. And now you get them on an email list and you know, you use calendly or something like that to book them. And then now you have the opportunity to pretty much make revenue right away. And I'm sure just selling one or two of these, depending on their prices, it could be all the monetization you need to at least cover all of the cost for your podcasting efforts. So just a simple flow like this, most people are not talking about or thinking about as a podcaster, because most people aren't business minded when it comes to this content, but you definitely should be when and if you're, you know, you're starting this thing, or if and when, that's how saying goes. So I'm gonna wrap this up with a few questions, and the first one being, you know, how can you apply these strategies to build a system that brings you consistent and qualified leads? So think about some of these strategies we talked about. Go rewind or re watch this again, Maybe slow it down. I know I went really fast, but think about how you can apply what I just presented to you in your current business. So without reworking things and like, you know, turning things off, just think about how you can add this and how this can really optimize what you're doing, bringing more leads consistently and obviously more sales. Another question is, you know, think about the type of podcast that fits your business, your audience as well, but also your business, and the vision of where you want to take things for growth. You know, so there's a lot of types of podcasts out there. Interview podcasts are probably the most popular out there because, you know, it's, it's what people think about. It's probably the easiest, but at the same time, think about what fits for you. So having that and really thinking about what are you going to do with this content and how does that align with your business. And then lastly, I want to hear about your takeaways and I'm sure Avi and the crew want to hear it as well, and all the other Internet moguls of the world. So please put it in the comments or wherever you're at right now. I want to hear the discussions and what did you learn? What is one major thing or one minor thing if you, if you didn't learn a lot and you decided, you know, I want to see it in the comments. I know Avi does too. So definitely, you know, like subscribe everything on this video, but definitely engage in the comments. And I want to keep a lookout as well for those because this has been an amazing time. I've been super honored to present and be your coach and showing you how to, you know, to launch a podcast, how to grow it and scale it, growth, hack it and make money with it. And thank you, Avi and the crew, the Internet moguls of the world. Thank you for watching. Again, my name is Joe Fear, and this is Matt as well. Matt Wolfe, my partner. We run the Hustle and Flowchart podcast. I highly recommend listening to it. Go check out hustleandflowchart.com go check out hustleandflowchart tv us on YouTube as well. We want to see you over there. We are publishing new content all the time, at least twice a week, and that's gonna be a place where you can engage with us and actually see what we're doing. So. So definitely model us. Go find us. And then Pod Hacker is that business in a box kind of program that helps you launch, you know, actually engage with everybody. So growing a community growth. Hack your podcast and amplify what you're doing and then monetize in tons of different ways. This is just scrap scratching the. Just the tip of the iceberg here. So if you like what you saw, Pod Hacker, you're gonna go deep. Those are likely in the comments there. I believe Avi, you know, he's got some cool stuff planned, so definitely we're easy to find. Thank you so much for your time. Avi and the crew, Internet moguls of the world, thank you so much for this opportunity. I was happy to be your coach today, and please reach out, and I'd love to chat soon. All right, have a good one. Bye, Sam.
