The Family First Entrepreneurship: How to Succeed in Business | Sobhana | Avi Arya

This is a YouTube video titled "The Family First Entrepreneurship: How to Succeed in Business | Sobhana | Avi Arya" created in December 2022. It features a conversational interview between Avi Arya and Sobhana discussing the concept of family-first entrepreneurship, balancing work and family life, digital marketing strategies, and advice for immigrant entrepreneurs in Canada. Avi Arya shares personal stories, business insights, and promotes his coaching and consulting services.
So family first entrepreneurship is the way to go. You need to learn a few tools, you need to learn a little bit of video creation, you need to learn a little bit of webinars, but you can be anywhere and sell a product from another country to another country, or you need the Internet and be able to do these things. The closer the device comes to the router, the closer or now the device is working at its best. Your router is the family and you're the device.
Hello, abhi.
Hello again.
Good to see you over and over again in Vancouver.
Thank you very much.
And today's topic that I'd like to talk to you about is something you're super passionate about, and it's the Family first entrepreneur.
Right?
So you brand yourself as a family first entrepreneur. Can you share a little bit about that?
Yes, absolutely. So I think entrepreneurship needs support, right? So I don't believe in jumping in. The parachute will open, but there has to be a parachute built around it. The ecosystem, like they say, you need a village to raise a child. You need an ecosystem to have a flourishing entrepreneur, real venture. Now, that ecosystem is your family at home and family at work. I told you, I have some people who've been working with me. I've got 10 people who've been working with me for 18 years.
Amazing.
So obviously they are family. And similarly at home, if you go home to an environment where people say, oh, you lost the only client you had, that's okay, but I ordered some amazing pizza or the, you know, the food that you like, everything is okay. You've already, you already figured it out, forget it. Oh, really? Everything is okay? You want the world to tell you that. And so therefore having your family, which could be your mom, dad, husband, wife, kids, you know, friends, co founders, whoever you think is that circle is, it should almost be illegal to work without them. You know, you should have a form saying you're starting a business. Tell me, who are these five people who are your support system and are they going to be, you know, one call away when, you know, you're sort of mentally breaking down or whatever? Because if they say, in many parts of the world, they say 97% of startups fail. And I think that is ridiculous. It is. It just means that somebody is not paying attention to this community. They are breaking down. They're having anxiety, they're having panic attacks, they're having heart attacks. And we are looking at this community and celebrating entrepreneurship around the world and not realizing that this thing should be made mandatory. And if this is made Mandatory, you know, sort of as much sort of framework as possible. People will go back home, share with their family what happened at work, not be scared of doing that. And that will build the ground for a fearless mindset, which is what every entrepreneur needs in the first place. Now, with that premise, family first. Entrepreneurship for me was always when I say, my name is Avi Arya, father of two girls, six dolls, husband to a superwoman, street car racer, turn hotelier, now social media marketer. But this identity, this beautiful hero introduction that went viral came from a 100% story that happened at home. But these people were not with me when I was talking about this story from at least, at least 1,000 stages. So I went on at least 1,000 stages over a period of five, six years. And at every time, I felt inside, oh, my God, this story, which has become my identity. Where are these people? They're in Vancouver, growing up without me. And I'm not liking it. So what can we do today in 2022 to have that? And I spoke about it to my parents at least 50 times. I spoke about it to my, to my parents, like, what should I do? Business is doing well. Family loves me so far, you know, but I'm torn. And this is, I don't want to do this. Nobody. My best of bestest of well wishes had no answer for it. The only thing that I could think of at that time was that I need to find a way in, which was, what can I do where the family is involved? So I used to go to conferences, meet people. So I started taking Raya and Avyana with me and they started taking first. Aviana was. I remember Aviana used to take that paper and she used to draw, oh, very nice drawings. She used to show it to my client. Oh, very nice, very nice. Oh, client is very nice. Some clients are not appreciative of the child being there. But, you know, we did it anyway. Then they started doing minutes of the meeting. And so I was, I was like, I'm with them. Something is happening. Then we went to meet New York, we went to meet GaryVee. We went to Method. So we started doing memories together. Why can't kids come with me? No, because they have to go to school. It's okay if they make four days of school. So I have to take those bold decisions. They miss school, spent money, take the kids out for meetings, all of that. So that sort of started giving me that, you know, that family and work together. Then we started reaching out to people through micro videos. We made a list of 200 people. Or, Daddy, I like this guy. Or am I inspired by this girl? Or whatever. Or this dropshipper, this Instagrammer, or used to that. That's okay. Let's all make videos. Let as a family, send it out to these people and ask them to interview to be on our channel. And we had no followers back then. Why would somebody be on our channel? But a heartfelt true story of a father, daughter team getting out to them appealed to 62 people out of the 200, and they said yes. We interviewed them on a podcast, then Raya edited them, then Aviana did some work on that, and eventually it became a book. And we've sold thousands of copies of that book. Now, what happened with that was that I was able to include the two aspects that make my life, which is my Internet bogus and my family. Because I believe, Shopana, that you cannot have one. It is very difficult for entrepreneurs, and I want to say it today on camera, it's very difficult for entrepreneurs to go home. It's almost like a man coming home and declaring a love interest to his wife. You know what? Today I have to tell you, I love Internet moguls as much as I love you guys. What? How dare you say that? But it's true. It is that dream that gives me an identity outside the house. It is what keeps me happy. If I come back home happy, if I'm able to provide a lifestyle, if I'm able to provide. Whatever I'm able to provide is because this dream and it keeps so. And families at home have to also understand that, you know, you have to coexist. Oh, my God. This lady or this man is always at work. It's not either or I think the world has come to an end. So we had to find that balance. And I was very lucky that at home I had no problem to say, you know, like, work was always worshipped in every aspect of my house, and my wife did it as well. But for a lot of people, it might not be the situation. So, you know, like, why you always have work or whatever. So we started to blend it with my daughters coming into the picture. So the book happened. Lots of memories. You know, they became co founders in a venture we call the Daddy Daughter venture. Traveled around the world. And then I started doing this one thing which I recommend to every person on the planet, every entrepreneur watching this, that everybody should do webinars. Because a webinar is a seminar that you can do from anywhere on the planet, help people get to know your story, pitch an Idea to them. Close the sale over there, put your laptop down and go back and play with your kids. Kids. And take your. Go for a walk with your wife and, you know, take your dogs out or whatever. And that's what I'm doing now.
Yeah.
In the last three years, I've been to my office three times in India because everything is happening from here. Most of it is happening through videos, so all of it's happening through webinars. So I do three things. Get known, get leads, get sales that we spoke about. So for getting. Getting known, you see that my Instagram is full of reels. Every day I'm spending time to get known. More. More reels. And then from then, we do webinars to get leads every second week, and we do webinars to close sales. Everything today can happen. And every time I put my laptop down, my first thing is, hey, guys, what are we doing next? And there's zero travel time. So that, I think, is the definition of the 2023 definition of a family first entrepreneur, a person who knows that today in the digital era, you can build everything around your family and you don't have to say or anymore. You can keep on saying.
And it's so liberating if you think about it. Right. If you think about the struggles of our parents, generations, it was always either this or that. Right. And a lot of children grew up with very little time, quality time with their families or spouses. So are you going to be writing about this?
Yes, I'm writing a book which has taken a few drafts. Like, you know, every time I take on a project which has to finish in 30 days, it almost never does. So. But because you love it so much, you want it to be slightly better. Slightly better. Some feedback, some personal stories. I have to have the guts to be more vulnerable every time I put out some content. So sometimes you stop yourself because you're like, not today. Today is when you're not feeling as strong. And then you put a pause to things. Your team, your publishers, they don't know why. Why is it that you're delaying something that was supposed to go. Why are you changing something on a cover? Fear takes over. Sometimes it takes a day to get over. Sometimes it takes weeks for that level of anxiety for that particular topic going out. You say, oh, let's wait. And then you feel fearless again, and you're like, okay, let's release this. So I'm in that process of letting go of a few things. And so maybe early 2023, a book called the Family first entrepreneur should be out.
Well, wish you every success with that and hope it's the best seller. I have a question because I think you and I have been following the news in the Canadian media around immigration, new numbers and targets. So the government, for instance, would like about 500,000 new immigrants to come into Canada. Many of these immigrants, because of a, the lack of credentials being recognized or because they want to do something different, will embark on entrepreneurship. So for these new immigrants who are coming into Canada, what's your advice to them? To embrace the idea of family first entrepreneurship. What could be some of the early first steps they could be doing?
You know, it has been very tough for people who have come as immigrant in the past. Finding the right job, having this right amount of money. And if they get a job with the right amount of money, they have to travel. So they've come to a new country to live together and then they're still an average family. Say for example, one person is traveling at least two hours, one day each side, the other person, say half an hour. The average family is spending three hours in traffic. This is not time doing something productive. Apart from work, there's just three hours in traffic. Now multiply that by five days, 15 hours a week, 60amonth, 720 a year. In a lifespan of 15, 20 years, you spend three years in traffic. That is criminal waste of time. And that three years can make so many memories with your kids and you know, and good for your mental well being and all of that. But I think that can be, and that's the motive of the book, the family first entrepreneurship concept, that I don't think that needs to be done anymore. Doesn't matter where you're coming from. You can build a digital course based on the message, your message formula. You can start doing webinars, you can start getting known. You can become an Instagram creator. You can do whatever you want. All you need is a laptop and a phone to create videos. Videos to get known. There's a content system that we explain. There's videos to get leads, do Facebook ads, whatever you want. You don't have a product, sell somebody else's product on Facebook ads. You don't have a service, sell somebody as a service on Facebook ads. You, you need to learn how to do Facebook ads so that you can get leads. Every day when the leads come, open your laptop from a coffee shop while you're waiting for your kids to come back from school, outside the school. So many times I'm outside Avyana school and you know I'm doing that. And I'm, that's the happiest. And I called up my dad. I'm like, dad, you know what, chief, look at this. And he knows that I went through so many years to be able to say that I'm working. And Avyana is just going to come out of school after an hour. So today every entrepreneur can do that. We are in this digital age. All I want everybody to. I don't like to label myself, but I'm a digital marketer at heart. I've been running a digital marketing agency for 13 years. I believe it takes four months for any human being to learn how to get known, get lead, get sales. And it takes one year to create a business which can go to 100,000 and then after that you scale it from there. And so family first, entrepreneurship is the way to go. You need to learn a few tools, you need to learn little bit of video creation, you need to run little bit of webinars. But you can be anywhere and sell a product from another country to another country. All you need is the Internet and be able to do these few things.
That's amazing. It's amazing. It's just so interesting to hear, you know, you say, you know that this is something that anyone can do and the first step is being fearless, right? Like being fearless and giving one the permission to become an entrepreneur and try it out. But keeping family sort of at the heart of it all.
Because the thing is that you can, you can. So we're all mobile like devices. Like you know, we're all, I believe we're all devices. Your family is the router. The further a device is from a router, you feel it's not working as well. You know, the Internet connection, I'm not able to download enough. Download what? You aren't able to download information about yourself. You're not feeling full. The closer the device comes to the router, the closer or for now, the device is working at its best. So the router is the family and you're the device. So keep those things.
Oh, that's a fantastic way to end this segment. And I think easy for people to understand what you've just laid out here. But also I think very inspiring to know that in this day and age we can have it. Like you've said, we can have it all 100%.
It's the end economy or the new and world.
Amazing. And lots of the and economy to you and your family.
Thank you.
Thanks abhi and you too as well. Thank you.
Hi guys. Avi here. Thank you very much for watching this episode. It's so much fun bringing all of this to you. But honestly it is difficult editing, post production, getting people together. But when you watch till the very end, it feels great. So thank you very much. Now I'm going to give you something, an opportunity to connect with me and my ecosystem. I have an email called call workwithavyariagmail.com now what are the possibilities of working with me? Number one, if you are somebody who's liking this content that I'm putting out and saying, you know what Avi, I want to get into your coaching, I want to get into your ecosystem, I want to understand how this works. I have a school called the Internet Moguls Business School where we have two programs for entrepreneurs. Send me an email at work with Avi Arya, subject Internet Moguls Business School and then tell me about your business. What are the challenges that are happening? And accordingly, one of our sales consultants will call you, they'll tell you about your business and finally they'll connect you with me and we'll see if you're the right fit to work together. Number two, if you want me to consult with you, just consulting, one on one, understanding your business, giving you a three month, five month roadmap. So work with Avarya subject consulting and then give me all the details about your business. Next, if you want my agency to help you, you could be a product or a service, a coach, a trainer, whatever you want us to help us set up your get known, get leads, get sales and get up a proper system for you. Then same thing, work with Avaria and in the subject you will write agency help and in the end tell me exactly what you want me to do for you and what are the challenges that you face. And if you want to work with me in my team as a freelancer, as part time, full time, you know, get into the team, work remotely from anywhere in the world. Again, work with Avyaria and say I want to join your team and then tell me about yourself. Ideally for all these things, when you put in a subject, follow it with a nice micro video so I know more about you because I check every email myself and I'd love to get back to you and connect you with the right people in the right company. So eventually when we talk we have all these things figured out. Finally, if you want to interview me for your podcast or your YouTube channel, email me at podcast with aviaria mail.com so there you go. Took two ways to connect with us work with Avia and you've got the multiple options and you've got podcast with Avyaria and we can podcast together. So thank you very much for watching the videos. Don't forget to watch all these videos. Send me an email. Would love to hear from you. Thank you very much ladies and gentlemen. My name is ABHI Arya signing off for now. Look forward to seeing you in the next video. There's a link over here which has got all my emails for you to get in touch with me as well. Click on the link and get in there. See you. Look forward to hearing that email from you. Bye for now.
