Train Your Brain With Some Brainy Bites!

A motivational talk on using inner dialogue to build discipline and reach your goals. The speaker uses analogies about communicating with your own mind to explain how consistent self-talk shapes success and personal growth.
Yesterday I was talking to somebody and they said that everybody is looking for motivation and what are the new hacks that you have to get work done. I've been crazy since I was a child, and I always. It's not a spiritual thing, but I've always known that there is this. There is an inside me and there outside me. And as I've read books and, you know, met interesting people and traveled around the world and all of that, so I've understood that, you know, when they say go within and go without and talk to your mind and clean your mind and all of that, what I've realized is that there is an inner self. You can call it inner self, higher self, or your mind or call it whatever you want, but there are two people who live within us. And like every day I speak to this, you know, my. My core team, and I give them instruction every single day, and I tell them what to do. And then there's a weekly review or a fortnightly review, and then there's a quarterly review. And we shape people and we shape companies and we shape balance sheets and we shape the way we are going. And that shaping is an everyday thing. You know, things go out of shape and you pull them back in shape. It's an everyday thing. And that happens through communication. So I'm every day talking to my team, so I'll be trying to shape the. The future of our company and the future of our team so we're able to reach somewhere. The same. Same thing has to be done when we are shaping our own life by talking to our minds. The minimum communication that happens is to our own selves. You can close your eyes. You can have your eyes open or whatever you're doing, or you can write it down. People have different ways of doing it. What has worked for me personally is to actually look at my mind as another person that I talk to. And I tell my mind that this is what I want to do. My grandfather, who was a decorated army officer, the most disciplined gentleman I knew, he used to speak rice and read 14 languages. And for him nothing was impossible. He told me that, you know, the best alarm is, you know, tell your mind that I want to wake up at 4:22 in the morning. At exact 4:22, your mind would wake you up. Now, taking cue from that thing always stuck with me, but taking cue from that, now I feel that I can actually talk to my mind about what I want to do. This is my aim. You can call it visualization to an extent, but I'm Talking about talking. Not just dreaming and visualizing, but actually talking to your mind and saying, how about doing this? Let's do that. And talk to the mind like a obedient child, tell it what to do. And the results have been phenomenal. Only thing like anything else is you go to the gym every day, the results will be phenomenal. You go to, you hang out with the best people. If you want to become a tennis player, hang out with the best tennis pros. Your results will be phenomenal. Whatever you do, if you do the right thing, the results will be phenomenal. But what is the difference between any hack or even this talking to your own self or your mind hack that I'm talking to you about is consistency. We know things work for us, but as human beings we get lazy or whatever happens to us and we get into this downward spiral and we don't do this every day. The difference is people who a lot of people have had, have explained different hacks on living life, from the Bhagavad Gita to this new inner engineering book that I'm reading by Sadhguru. All of these books have hacks. But the difference between winners and people who are going to take a little longer to win, or people who are happy or people who are reaching the stage of joy or whatever, is people who are taking that action to evolve as better human beings and better men and better women and better entrepreneurs and better sons and better managers and better leaders or whatever you want to be better or better YouTube stars or whatever you want to be better at. You have to do it consistently. So even this hack that I'm talking about needs to be done consistently. Talk your mind, write it down, give it instructions, give. Be firm, be clear. Like, you know, if I talk to my child and myself, I'm not clear. I don't know, you know, can you, Can I do this? Can I not? Should you do this? Should you not? But I'm not sure the message that is perceived by the child or even your employee. If you're not sure, as a leader or as a manager, the people are not very sure about what to do. If you're sure in your firm, that's the response that you get. In most cases, yes, you have to repeat yourself a few times. You have to say it in different formats and, you know, sort of redo it a few times. But then, you know, if you're firm, then people understand. The same thing is with the mind. You have to give strong, firm, solid, clear messages every single day. Sam.
