If you are running shopping ads, you're going to have a feed, you're going to have Merchants Center Next account, right? If your feed's not very good, you can use the power of attribute rules to optimize that feed. You don't need any other tools other than Merchant Center Next and the power of utilizing these attribute rules. In this video, step by step, I'm going to show you how I optimized a client's feed using custom labels. I created custom labels with the power of attribute rules. I also show you how I optimize titles for another client, again using the attribute rules. So let's dive in. All right, so I am inside a Google Merchant Center Next account and I'm going into products right now. The products that I want to update in this case or optimize in order for campaign structure reasons are for holiday products. So if I put in Christmas here we have products that are Christmas related. But again the way their feed set up right now, which is due to the way they have the content API integration set up, it's not pushing any specific information in regards to Christmas related products. So in some cases the feed itself will already have product type added for like Christmas themed products, depending on how the feed is set up. In this case there is no feed tool being used, it's just a content API and the client is missing the Christmas information in this case or a clean way of, or a clean way of actually segmenting Christmas related products. So again I'm doing this with rules then or these attributes that you can do. So here I have no, no good product data or product type information or custom labels in order to segment. So that's what I'll be adding to the feed manually. Now if they were using a tool like Data Feed Watch or some other, you know, feed optimization tool, this could be done with inside of those tools, but they don't have that. So I have to resort to just going in and sort of hacking it together myself. So what you're going to do is you're going to hit this view data sources. This is going to take you to your actual sort of product feeds. And so here we have the Content API. So I'm going to click into that, then you go to attribute rules. All right, so this is where you can actually create what I want. So I'm going to hit add attribute rule and what we want is actually custom label and I'm going to use number three. You could custom labels. You can, you know, I think there's like zero through four. I am utilizing I believe 01 and two already. So that's why I'm just going to do Custom Label 3 in this case. Now conditions title. Primary feed contains Christmas. I'm also going to do title contains Santa. I'm also going to do title contains Holiday Boom. Then what I'm going to do is select how to replace the data. So I'm going to hit set two and then I'm just going to add my own value and we're just going to put Christmas boom hit. Okay, then you're going to want to usually use show Preview. So and again in this case if content API, which is the feed right now, like the raw feed data that's coming in contains Christmas, Santa or holiday set Custom Label 3 to Christmas. That's it. And I'm going to hit Show Preview. Actually one second, I'm going to pull, I'm going to pull an item ID specifically for this. Okay, so here I've got an ID I'm going to search for that is Christmas related and then I'm going to see what this shows. Okay, so this now shows sort of the item attributes. If we come down here, active value, which means what's the value currently for Custom Label 3? It would be empty value, which means it's obviously empty. There's nothing there. Custom label 3 draft value. So this is what I'm doing as a preview would contain Christmas and in this case it is a large Christmas tree product. So this looks correct to me. So then I'm going to get rid of this preview and hitting okay, save as draft. All right, now that the draft has been saved, I want to apply the changes. So I'm going to come back here into attribute rules. It's still in draft mode, so that means it's not live. It's not influencing the current feed. However, if I hit apply changes, this means it will now go live as soon as the feedback gets fetched again. Okay, so I'm going back into products to check and then I've got my filter here. Title contains Christmas. And then just simply go in, click one of the Christmas products. Make sure you've got additional details here. Custom label 3 boom. Christmas is in there. So now in my Google Ads account I can go back in and start structurally changing or segmenting my Christmas products by this custom label 3. And again all of this was done by adding those feed attributes inside of Merchant Center. Next I want to show you another example in regards to like utilizing this for titles. Now again you can use these rules for just about any attribute of your feed. But I'm going to show you how I was able to optimize titles by using this as well. So in this account I have created a title where I'm adding Kid and Pet Frame as well as Washable. And then at the end I'm adding the brand Home Reserve. And I want to show you what the title looks like without these rules that I've set up. So if I come in here and then I hit show preview, the title before I had these rules set up was just Tuck Standard Sectional and Maltese Soda. Okay. It's a terrible title if you're trying to show your ads for sectional related keywords, especially going after like kid and pet friendly stuff. Right, Right. So now what I have done is added this to the front and then I add Home Reserve to the back so the full title looks like this. Now Kid and Pet Friendly Washable, Tuck Standard Sectional in Maltese Soda Home Reserve. So I was able to prepend Kid and Pet Friendly Washable and then upend Home Reserve at the end here. So this, I took this title from the raw feed which was no good. And I've been able to optimize the titles now by just these feed rules. And this has applied to the entire feed with hundreds of sec or hundreds of SKUs that are inside of this feed. So there's another example of how you can just use these attribute rules and simply optimize your entire feed. And I actually have a full video on how to optimize feeds and I go into all of the different feed optimizations. There are full masterclass on that. And in this case I actually, I believe I show a before and after of our title optimizations and what happened to our results, it was very significant increases in performance and in some cases you can simply, if you're not using a tool right, like Data feed watch, you can simply come in and just make these changes yourself and optimize your feed using the power of attribute rules inside of merchant center next. There you go. You now know how to use attribute rules inside a merchant center next to optimize your feed. Somewhere on the screen I have a complete masterclass on feed optimization. I go further into the weeds longer video, very in depth. Go check that out. Lots of great value in that video on feed optimizations beyond just using these attribute rules. So again, that's somewhere on the screen or will be in the description below. If not, no worries, we'll see on the next video.
