Check this out. So you might have received an email from Google and it says, google automatically display relevant information from your marketing emails. And at first I was like, okay, what the heck does this mean? Basically, Google will collect and display relevant content from your marketing emails on search the shopping tab and more. So essentially, Google will take any promotions that you're running in any of your email marketing and apply that as promotions to your shopping ads. So here's actually a tweet from Kirk Williams if you are aware of him. If not, you go look him up. He owns an agency. He's pretty active, I believe on like LinkedIn and Twitter. Anyways, he said, hey, we're making it an internal policy to opt out of this for our clients because past experience with Google automated promotion features have often created more confusion than value. I agree with Kirk. So how do you do that? Right, you, you do it by going into your merchant center account. This is a test account that I'm in. But you go to this settings icon up here. Then you're going to go to general account options. You're going to scroll down, and this marketing content usage, you're going to hit do not share data and then you hit save. If you want to turn it off, I think you should. If you're watching this video, that means you're probably a media buyer of some sort or a business owner who's very active or within their marketing, especially Google Ads. Otherwise, I have no idea why you'd be watching my videos. So that means you're on it, you're an expert. You don't need this. This is for lazy people and advertisers. Google is prone to, you know, make a lot of mistakes with this automated stuff. Email marketing plays a whole different role than what we're doing on the Google Ad side for most of our clients. So I don't want Google automatically applying promos that we might be running and email marketing campaigns for the clients and then applying it to our Google Ads. Right, our Google shopping ads. That can cause a ton of confusion like Kirk mentioned in his tweet. So we are turning this off for most of our clients, unless for whatever reason there's a client that just kind of wants to test it. I actually don't know what this fully looks like. I don't have like a visual example of this yet because it's brand new. All I know is we're going in, we're turning it off. We have with our clients. If they're running promos, we are building those promos out manually inside of Merchant Center. We're building them out manually inside of the Google Ads account because we want to have control over those so there is no confusion. And there's no promos running in the ads that there shouldn't be. So if you are an expert and you want that control, you don't want Google auto creating this based off of what they find in your marketing emails. And I I really wouldn't want to share all of that data anyways with Google. I think they've got enough data. Then go in and turn off this setting inside of a Merchant center account Again. You just do that in the general account options. Scroll down to Marketing Content Usage and hit do not share data. Click Save and you're good to go.
