A short reflective dialogue from a YouTube video exploring 'accepting awareness' as a mindfulness practice. Speakers discuss using a hand-over-heart gesture during meditation as a symbol and practice of self-kindness, learning to accept one's mood without judgment, and cultivating authenticity rather than performative presentation.
So I was thinking about kind of just in general, accepting awareness. And one is that meditation. You've talked to me this before, but it seems like it would fit really well to be holding a hand on the heart during that, because there's something very. It's like learning how to love yourself, even when you feel like you're ugly and unlovable. And something about that kind of feels right for that meditation. And then the accepting awareness, I guess I've talked about it before, but not so clearly. It seems like it can allow me to be really authentic with my mood and not feel like because I'm not a performer at all compared to the world. I am authentic compared to the world, but there's still a level of slight feeling like I need to be a certain way or come off a certain way. And if I can really work on being accepting and aware of what's going on in me, then I can be authentic with my mood wherever it's at, and just be there. And that would. That would feel nice.
I'm glad.
Yeah.
So I think that for you and, you know, for me, putting our hands on our heart, and I think for you as well, is a very beautiful way of having an experience and a symbol of acceptance, which has a very calming quality. Acceptance really is smooth. It really is. Even there's just absolutely the absence of judgment. So there's a bit of kindness in that. Enormous kindness compared to judgment.
