Asking From Your Heart Guided Meditation

A guided meditation that helps you identify your deepest worry or pain, find the opposite healing state you need, and learn to ask for help from a gentle, heart-centered place. The tone you use when asking matters more than the words themselves.
So just. Just allow yourself to hear the silence in the room and the sound, whether it's the chairs creaking or cars outside. Just being present to listen, to feel the contact of your body on your chair and knowing that you want to take an interest in your present experience, whatever it is, and just start to ask yourself, just briefly, what is the most significant feeling state over the last period of time that's been challenging for me? And just be appreciative that you're really interested in your greatest challenge. And the feeling state nakedly identified as it is without reasons, and that you're allowing yourself just to see it and you're having the courage to be naked. And if you can't contact it, can't just be content with the fact that you're extremely interested. And recognize that whatever state you're in, let's say it may be feeling dull or agitated or resentful or righteous or angry or hurt, that what you're doing is you're looking for the exact opposite state of being as being the source of healing. So if you're frightened, you're looking for either safety or courage, or if you're righteous, you're looking for some kind of humility or a softer transparency, or if you're dull, you're looking for a greater sharpness, or if you're agitated, you're looking to be more peaceful, and you're recognizing you really want that, and you're identifying this as your healing focus or as your need. And allow yourself to make an encouraging statement right now that I want to identify my feeling state that's most challenging to me on an ongoing basis because it'll serve my life. And I want to identify what this underlying need is and recognize that all of you have been supported to identify all the feelings that you may be feeling and the needs underneath so that it really will be accessible now. And this allows you to go to the next level. And the next level is with whichever person is most associated with the feeling state that you're in. You're looking to express what your need is in a way that is from your heart, that has a tone of kindness, that has a tone of love, that has a tone of tenderness, embracing. Because how you ask for what you need, how you ask for what you need is going to be so determinant in whether you actually have a chance of being heard. And notice that as you look in your life, there's a very strong tendency to ask for what you need if you get that far in the emotional state that you are in. So if you are resentful, you'll resentfully ask for what you need, and if you were righteous, you'll righteously ask for what you need. And so there needs to be. And you want to go deep enough inside you to ask, may I find this opposite feeling state when I ask for what I need as well? So may I. When I feel righteous and I recognize what I need, let's say, is some kind of kindness on the outside, I want to ask from a humble state, if I'm agitated and what I need is peace on the outside, I want to do my very best to ask in a peaceful way. Because if I ask in an agitated way, it's very likely that the other person is going to feel attacked. And let's say you feel dull. And instead of staying dull on the outside, you really have been presenting yourself as withdrawn. And what you really want is a bit of kindness and acceptance for your dullness. If you ask for anything, like help, like, could you just accept me where I am? Could you be a little bit kind and warm When I feel dull, could you hold my hand? Could you give me a little bit of juice so I can feel a little bit of aliveness? If you say it in a very dull state, it's not very likely to work. So give yourself the encouragement that I really want to ask for what I need in the state of being that's going to be most likely to be received well. And as you're looking, be humble enough, be wise enough to see where you don't do this and just accept right now, oh, that's right. I usually don't get this far to ask for what I want. And when I do, it's pretty rare I'm able to do it in this good state of being and appreciate the fact that you can see that and just dedicate yourself to remembering. I want to, as best as I can, to ask for what I need from my heart, from the qualities that are most pure, and that this is a very difficult practice. But it's also something that when you recognize if you aren't able to ask for what you need and if you aren't able to ask for what you need with some kind of caring or consideration or kindness or humility, that you're really not going to experience the connection in this life that you want to and so keep coming back. I want to be able to ask for what I need in a quality that dignifies the need itself.
