Anxiety acts like it can predict the future, but it's usually wrong. The speaker suggests pausing to check if what you're afraid of is actually happening, then responding to reality instead of imagined disasters.
Is it evident that anxiety pretends it's almost psychic, and it's almost always, at best, half true? We need to teach students to pause and ask, is this actually happening to this degree? Or is my mind forecasting storms that aren't likely to be here? A wise mind learns to dominantly respond to real conditions and real life situations. And with practice, students start recognizing the difference between passing clouds and an actual storm. The mind might yell rain, but the sky could be clear. Wisdom loves the truth to be balanced and accurate and to keep developing the capacity to grow in this way. Does this make sense to you? And if not, it's likely time to repeat this to yourself. Drop a comment we'd love to hear your reflection.
