A short educational/self-help video or message comparing intrusive thoughts to pop-up ads, encouraging mindful attention and discrimination about which thoughts to engage. Emphasizes practice as the mechanism to strengthen peaceful attention and invites viewer questions/comments.
Have you observed that intrusive thoughts are like pop up ads? They appear suddenly, demand attention. They don't seem like they are from us and feel overpowering, but you don't have to give attention to them. Does it make sense that you need to see your intrusive thoughts are really equivalent to to mental spam. Loud but not useful. A friendly mind decides what deserves attention and what gets bypassed. The thought might be there, but you can learn to have your yes, I'll look at it or no, I'm not going to feed it. Can you see that this discrimination, deciding where to place your attention can get stronger and more peaceful every time you practice it? Yes, practice, practice, Practice is the fruition of insight. I'd be very happy to answer questions. Please leave your comments below.
