Short webinar excerpt teaching how to cultivate an inner, self-compassionate 'friendly/wisdom/compassionate mind' to support and guide oneself during challenging emotions. Emphasizes choosing supportive thoughts and treating the practice as an accessible resource ('I get to') rather than an obligation.
We all as human beings have challenging emotions and at those critical times, it's so important to have a resource to aim toward the needs and the qualities that will help us and the thoughts that will help us while we're really suffering. It's very important when you have the challenging emotions that you find a place inside you that wants to care for yourself. Friendly mind, never ever judges. It's always your own self compassionate voice to learn to be content with. Friendly mind or wisdom mind or compassionate mind is crucial because we're almost always addicted to feeling friendly, to feeling better. And this is going to a different dimension of your wisdom in your intelligence and learning to guide yourself with this wisdom and intelligence and eventually have it be even more important than your feelings. What are the thoughts that you can think that would most benefit you while you're in your challenging emotions or situations? This is not a should, this is. I get to. I get to have this resource to be self compassionate by asking this question and finding my own wisdom, my own guidance and then implementing it with the thoughts that will support you.
